Dimensioned drawings for this DIY Outdoor sofa made out of tropical hardwood decking are here: www.homemade-modern.com/ep124-...
I considered using Ipe deck boards to build this sofa but ended up picking Cumaru boards instead since I liked the color better and they were cheaper. if you want to see more project plans for DIY outdoor furniture like sofas and couches let me know in the comment section.
I used a cordless circular saw, jigsaw, orbital sander, and drill from:

    I bought 8-foot long 1” x 5-1/2” boards for $25.52 each from

Beautiful clean design & great tips about the stainless steel screws... I wouldn't have thought they'd break so easily, without pre-drilling.

This is an amazing project and I like how you take notice of everything that could improve quality of it, one thing that I thought about the seat was that the middle part seemed too flexible when you sat on it, if anything I would add another small leg in the middle for better support but I don't know how it really feels when you sit on it so I can't really prove my point but anyways, it's an awesome project without a doubt.

Great job, nice proportions. Thanks for sharing. Sometimes the movie speed is too high for a newbie like me to catch all the necessary details. Can the furniture be made from other than tropical wood? (saving rain forests) What kind would you recommend in that case?

That's either a new bottle of whiskey or you guys have switched to beer while on the maker ranch. I love that it was in this video and the scaffolding bed video. Also, you got me seriously wanting to make this for our deck at home, i went to the advantage lumber site and really like the look of tiger wood.

This is awesome!! How many total 8 foot boards did you use?

    • @HomeMadeModern
      @HomeMadeModern  6 років тому +4

I used about 10 but I wasn't very efficient since I was working through the design as I went. I cut 8foot boards down to 7 feet instead of just ordering 7 foot boards. I could have also used more of the scraps from the first cuts to piece together the leg pieces. the slats for the backrest could also be split and spread out more to use less wood.

Nice design. Not sure about the choice of a Tropical Hardwood for timber though. And if your encouraging people to recreate your design, don't you have a responsibility to ensure that your at least trying to source from a sustainable source?
Cumala for those that are interested is also known as Brazilian Teak, (although it bears no relation to 'normal' Teak), and is named after an idigenous tribe. Over logging in Indonesian teak forests means that teak wood is now extremely scarce and also expensive..
Cumala is not listed as endangered ...yet.

The feet is just waste of material imho - I like some of your projects - and I get its to show an easy alternative - but you have stacked material this way in multiple video's. And you could easily create a square thick enough like the supporting crossmember for the back rest.

When Jesus said in the bible: "I'm ascending to my God and your God" What does he mean?
a).He is ascending to himself because according to the paul in church jesus is God.
b).He is ascending to the true God because he is not God but a man who worship God.
    c).Both of the above.
David, Suleiman and the other messengers of God are called "son of God" in the bible: So it means all of them are God in case someone believes that jesus was God, so do the others?
a).They are not God, nor jesus. Because son of God is an inspiration word used for respect etc.
b).Yes all of them were God.
c).If we call jesus "son of God" it means that: he is a special son of God (begotten)
Jesus did not have a father and is this reason good enough to make him a special son of God?
    a).Yes it is.
b).No it is not enough to call someone a special "son of God" and worship him because Adam also didn't have a father nor a mother but we don't worship him because of this reason.
c).I still believe jesus is God and i worship him.
