    The corners could use a bit of rounding. An accidental knock with the leg could easily send pain screams two blocks away.

    This video is a godsend! Watched the entire video several times, read the blog post, added everything to my Lowe’s cart, and will hopefully be lounging by the end of the week. Well, also have to take a trip to IKEA for the mattress but that’s at the very end! I just moved into a one-bedroom apartment and this is JUST what I’ve been looking for! I’m trying to decide what type of wood to use for this DIY. It’s between birch and poplar. Birch is a bit more expensive but this is my first indoor furniture build so I’m consider all available options. Can’t tell what y’all used. What’s your recommendation?

    • @IMEEMADE

    I like this (and love the dog) but I wonder how heavy is it? You want it to not slide if someone plops down but this might be too heavy to ever move? How is it?

    • @IMEEMADE
      @IMEEMADE  2 роки тому

      It's pretty heavy as an entire assembly, but by putting felt pads on the bottom we can slide it around on our hardwood floors. it does take two of us and a decent amount of strength to move it to but not impossible. It's heavy enough that an average adult can plop down and doesn't move

    Did I miss the price point for the overall cost of material?

    • @IMEEMADE

    Did you have to do anything to keep the mattress from sliding out from underneath you when you lean on the backrest? Or do you get enough friction straight on the polyurethane?

    • @IMEEMADE

      We placed a few strips of the grip mat underneath and it works for us!

      @@IMEEMADE ah ok nice! I always like to go over a PU finish with a used piece of 400 grit sandpaper to knock off the high points and get a super velvety smooth finish… so it always ends up pretty slick. I really like the finished sofa, I might consider doing something like this once my ikea couch gets worn out… in 40 years

    Why double the 3/4" plywood on the seat of the couch? One sheet is rated for 80 lbs per sq ft which should be plenty I would think. Just curious what the logic was behind that and if it wasn't necessary, maybe it could be built for even less cost?

    • @IMEEMADE
      @IMEEMADE  2 роки тому

      Our only concern at the time was the possibility of sagging over time. You can definitely use 1 sheet of 3/4" plywood and it would be fine.

      @@hendrasaut4173 Oh haha, yes we were calling that piece the "spine" its about 21in x 11in (533mm x 279mm) and the angle is 15*. The most important dimension was the back rest angle of 15* which we find to be the most comfortable.

    Hi! That looks great ! About how much did this project cost? I am working with a budget in a new house and wondering if it would be more cost efficient to do what you two did! :)

    • @IMEEMADE
      @IMEEMADE  4 роки тому +1

      We spent about $300 USD for all the materials, including the mattress and fabric 😊

      You too 😃🤗👛???
      Same here for my new son in law & daughters house they just move to. There's a big front room & den to fill & decorate.
      Budget with all other cost & now holidays very much matters.
      Wonder if this custom project is worth while as well.
      Good luck 🤞 to you & your family & ours with this.
      Great 👍 job by this couple who shared this idea & project!!!!!

    Great job! Weird question but how much does it weigh fully assembled? Debating doing a similar thing and want to know if I'll be able to move it or not!

    • @IMEEMADE
      @IMEEMADE  4 роки тому +3

      Thank you! it weighs a pretty decent amount fully assembled, but with the felt feet we can move it around the living room easily. However, if you wanted to move it to another room then we highly suggest to disassemble before moving it!
