I built this as my first ever DIY build and it turned out great. I did not use the burning but rather used a dark stain and quickly wiped it off. It didn't turn out looking burnt like I had hoped, but I am really happy the way it turned out. I'd also like to mention that I didn't use a planer and it looks fine. It did mot best to pick out good wood, but since this took me a few days some wood warped after it was taken home. All things considered, I LOVE this on my balcony and 100% recommend this for anybody who is a complete novice. I only used a circular saw for the cuts for those wondering if you need a crazy saw like he has. Thanks, Jonny!
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Thank you! I built one of these over the last two weekends. I used 2"x8"s where your plan used 1"x8" because the 2"x*8"s were actually cheaper and it allowed me to eliminate the under seat bracing. The couch is a beast!
Great project and more important easy and simple enough for a average person. That support pieces on the arm rests that are holding the weight of the seating are simply genius, watched bunch of similar videos and never saw a better and simpler solution. And special thanks for the project file.
I was trying to make something like this but a single chair. I had an idea of how to do it in my head which looked very similar to yours in construction. I learnt a few good ideas about how to finish the construction. Thanks bro.
simple but very useful wooden sofa..I'm a big fan of woodworks but I still lack of the primary power tools until then I hope I could make great project such as yours..
Thanks bro i will make one soon.i loved this vid,so detailed. i really appreciate this diy vids of yours it helps alot.i watched like 50+ more vids this is the best
Nice build! Be sure to preload those end grains with glue . Simply apply glue to the end-grain. Let it soak in. Apply more as needed until it stops soaking it in. Then continue as normal. This will tremendously improve the bond strength of an end grain glue up.
Cool. I got this from Steve Ramsey. He owns the channel woodworking for mere mortals. He has a lot of really scaled-down tutorials on woodworking tips and tricks that are super easy to relate to.

I enjoyed your video cuz you explained everything you were doing an made it simple an to the point. Especially for a newb like me. Can't wait for the next one.
@@JonnyBuilds man I really love it. It's great my preferred sheen is a personal preference but the build and design is awesome. Very impress with the outcome.

I love how you explain step by step all the way through nice job
I like this guy because I like simple especially if you're a beginner DIYer.
I'm totally hooked on torching wood right now - love the look of this sofa!
Gak tau
I love this sofa. I'm looking for something like this for my livingroom. I love thick chunky sofas.
When he starting burning the wood. All I could think of is how nice this couch would look like. Such an amazing design.
I finish my and I am so happy with the results, my wife loved it to.
thanks.
Every build should be easy just like this.
Made mine recently. It turned out great. It's the envy on my street. Thanks for the inspiration.

Very clever and classic method it will also look nice indoor too.
Best outdoor sofa video I have seen by far
NICE WAY TO MAKE A FURNITURE LIKE THAT!!! LOVE IT
I was trying to make something like this but a single chair. I had an idea of how to do it in my head which looked very similar to yours in construction. I learnt a few good ideas about how to finish the construction. Thanks bro.
Elegant and simple and best of all can be build with just 2 tools. Thanks for the share.
What 2 tools? I saw much more (and not beginner tools as well)
Great build. It helps to get up for older people if the armrests protrudes forward an inch or two to grip with the hand.
Looking great the wood sofa .
Very cool. I might try to make this. I was looking to build a bench, but I think I like this better.
Hey as I see it 's simple and very original
Johnny...Bravo!!!

Very nice. I liked especially the torching technique!!!
Awesome video! Thanks, I’m going to build this
Good idea for a sofa bed.
It was just an other DIY segment and then you took a flamethrower to your projecy. That was awesome.
simple but very useful wooden sofa..I'm a big fan of woodworks but I still lack of the primary power tools until then I hope I could make great project such as yours..
Good design - the only one I’ve seen that is properly engineered to not rely on screws for vertical support of the bench. Beautiful finish as well!
Wow nice job .

Thanks dude. Think I would spend more money on all the equipment you used to make it than on the wood itself 😂
It’s great how the supplies are listed in the description! How nifty! 👍🤗
Thanks! Just fyi, they are all affiliate links. I earn a little change every time someone clicks through, and purchases something.

Vou construir um sofá 🛋️
I love the torch finish but I would prefer if it wasnt low base and had sheen. Awesome job I love it.
A simple design mod and some spar urethane could fix that. Thanks 🙏
@@JonnyBuilds man I really love it. It's great my preferred sheen is a personal preference but the build and design is awesome. Very impress with the outcome.
like the burnt finish, but stain is probably less time consuming , thanks great video
