That is a brilliant solution. I work on a plastic portable table or on a tv tray with my A2 light pad under for stability. I can see that i can use them when I'm on the table even with the light pad. Thank you. And thank you to the person who suggested watching the video upside down. It made it much easier to watch.
I love doing larger diamond paintings because of the detail. I used to do cross stitch, so I happened to have a cross stitch scrolling frame that I modified by sliding pool noodles over the dowels and adding a board attached to the sides within the frame work to support a back light. It has saved my back and neck from being hunched over from hours of drilling as well as being able to work in small spaces. I truly wish I was able to share a picture of it with you.
@@LolaRyck No mishaps. In fact, I'm getting ready to start selling the scroll frame. I've had several individuals asking for me to make them one as well.
This is the system I use as well. The two differences are that I let the part that I've finished just fall off the desk rather than rolling it up. My desk is multi-use and has an under desk keyboard, so the other difference is the part that is rolled and waiting to be moved up to finish goes under the desk, over the keyboard and falls behind it. if it is a really long painting I roll it up and use clips as Rachel pointed out. Everything stays put, and I have a large clean non-fluffy cloth that I lay over the top of the painting if I need to use the desk for the medical billing that I do. It has worked really well! Just some of my own tips. 🙂
I use the roll up method with binder clips on huge paintings but my add is to roll the unused portion around a pool noodle which is held by a partially opened desk drawer in front of me. The finished portion drapes over the back of my narrow desk which also has a partial pool noodle attached so the diameter of the drape isn’t straight down cutting down on any drills popping off. I’m left handed and work from right to left on a painting.
I have a small tv table to work on for a large diamond painting. I have to tape it to the desk in order to work on small sections. A 20 by 30. Eventually I need a larger table.
Good idea, these clips! I usually start square DP in the middle and work outwards. Easy with squares, with rounds less so. I have the idea of having a more tilted beginning line😅
Thank you Rachel for another informative video. I have been struggling with the canvas hanging over the edge. Now I'm going to try the hook idea. Thank you once again. I always enjoy your videos.
😊😊😊Hi Rachel, good morning. Thank you for the lesson. I Diamond paint on my dining room table. I am lefthanded and always start on the lower left of the canvas. I do the color blocking first because I dread confetti. But thank you for the idea s. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Not a fan of the angle you were filming the beginning of the video. But I am a fan of this artwork and artist! I actually have this painting I just haven’t completed it yet! Thanks for the wonderful ideas
I use pool noodles to roll up the canvas and big paper clips on the sides to fix the roll. So it doesn't matter if my hand rests on the rolled up canvas, it doesn't crinkle
Thank you so much Rachel for showing us these tips! 😊 I love large canvases but I’m always struggling with them. The clips are a game changer!! I love how you work on them as well. I’ll be completing them your way now!! Thank you! I love your channel 💜 Good luck with your move!
Thank you for letting us know about the clips it's defo one thing I'm gonna order cause my Dps do drip over my table constantly too cause I work from the bottom up, I moved out recently too and I've two crafting tables but this will help hugely for both of them. ❤
Depends on where you live... In the US you can find them pretty easily in a variety of places but here in Ireland it's hard to find ready-to-buy frames for them so I just put them on the walls with command strips
As always, very informative!! I work on an easel and have difficulty figuring out how to work on large DP that are wide as well as long. Currently I keep turning the DP but that means the symbols are sideways and upside which I don't like, but, I do what I have to do. As for the clips, unfortunately working on an easel doesn't work :-( but that is a great idea for non-easle diamond painters.
I too used to work on an easel with a back light behind my work. I used a pool noodle taped to the top of the easel so I could pin the canvas to it, and rolled the undrilled portion at the bottom, keeping it rolled up with binder clips. The finished portion I would pin and roll on a second noodle, draping it over the top noodle before repinning it to the top noodle. I would also use binder clips to hold the sides to the light board. I wish I could show you a picture. Would be so much easier.
I want to try diamond painting. I am wondering what is the difference between beginner, intermediate and advance skill levels? Do you like a diamond painting company more than another? You mentioned in the video that some glues do not allow you to roll the canvas backwards. How do you know which ones you can roll back and which ones you can't? Once yoh place the diamonds on the canvas is there anything that you need to do to roll it backwards to keep working the picture and to frame the picture? How do you frame it so not to lose the sparkle of the picture? Thank you for your time.
Rachel has a whole playlist that covers everything you would want. I started with her "Absolute beginner's " video. You should watch it and see it you still want to. It's very relaxing and therapeutic. ❤
Those clips are genius! What I dont understand is why DAC paintings are so big. They seem unnecessarily large its a bit much for me. I think this ine is beautiful. I play the viloin and would love the one that has her playing a violin but its like 5ft tall 😂. Its life size I dont get it.
🤗First time I’ve worked big painting yes trying work it think mines something like you did but I have 3 sections put I see now bout working left to right 👍🏽cross Thanks and rolling it up how you keep top roll up do you use cliffs? You very helpful Thks Bye
You get used to seeing them sideways rather quickly. Even more so if you put your containers with the symbol stickers in the same direction. Only be careful with the arrow symbols. Mostly the colour helps as well - unless you are working on a mystery painting 😊
Great idea but it depends on how your desk/table is made. If the desktop is larger than the frame it’s sitting on, then you have a nice area for the DP to lay tucked back in under (as shown in the YT video example she used) while not infringing on how close you can sit up to the top. However, the table I work on doesn’t have that so I couldn’t use this style of clips because there would be no way to attach it to the table except on the outer edge and in doing that I would be leaning over the roll of the DP and the clips. However, I am using a tabletop easel and am trying to roll up the canvas and tuck it under the bottom lip of the easel.
@@debbieholt8261 Thanks so much for replying, Debbie. Sounds like you and I have the same set up. It works fine for me for many kits but not the huge ones. I’m thinking I might try a curtain rod by attaching the brackets to the table. It works in my mind, now let’s see if it works when I actually do it!
I don’t wish to complain but sometimes constructive feedback is important. I don’t know why, but I honestly could not watch your video. The angle that you had your camera at just felt really weird and it seemed to trigger my vertigo. I felt nauseous and made me feel dizzy. It felt like Your camera was 30 degrees past directly overhead and it was looking back in onto picture. Almost like doing a somersault but being stuck in the curled under position, if that makes sense. I know Im in the minority where this can trigger some people, but I just wanted to make you aware of some people’s sensitivity. Thanks. 😊
A word of advice, the angle is awful! It's like your standing against the wall. Very unpleasant and disturbing to the eyes to watch your videos. There are people who have vision problems and angles disturb their vision. Be a little considered to those who watch your videos and change your angle. Put the camera looking straight down!

What do you do with the bottom or top (the part you've finished)?
Does it roll on the noodles as well? Have you had any mishaps doing that?

Thank you for the tips. Very Helpful. ❤❤❤
This painting is beautiful and I love her artwork
I like the rolling it idea with clothes pins or binder clips.
This painting is in my stash. I'm working on a few tiny paintings while I decide on my next big one... this video is really tempting me
It's actually illegal how pretty completed DPs are
I love large DPs❤😮
Me too. Especially 80 x 160 cm and 90 x 180 plus just purchased 2m x 2 m monster and YES All are square drills and I LOVE LOVE SQUAURE DRILLS.

Yesssssss I mean, no Wolf Pack, don't do it! 🤣🤣🤣

I work the same way, no special items lol....
Roll Out & In as I call it 🙂
That's cool I am going to try that I just work on my painting across the painting lol

Any ideas on how to attach those hooks to a metal desk with drawers? 🤔
Maybe a really strong double sided tape? Someone suggested 'alien tape' but I haven't seen it before.
How do I access your links . New to diamond painting, loving it, thanks.
Im lucky enough to have a table with drawers so I simply open my drawers wide enough to hold my undone rolled up part of the canvas. 😆
Cool idea.
Do you still have a link for the hinge clips? Not seeing where you linked the product and having a hard time finding them through searching on Amazon.

They have a certain level of detail they want to capture, which means they have to go big to get the detail 🔍

The top stays rolled on its own, either cuz the drills are on or because it's stopped from going anywhere by my monitor stand!

Ok thank you!
It's the same s working upright. I did a big one sideways. It's fine.
Nope, not really. Tilt your drill container sideways and it should be easy peasy
Ok I’ll try it! Thank you!
I would use alien tape instead of screwing into my table. 😊
Great idea!
❤❤❤❤
Good idea but my desk is metal and glass so no way to screw them in.
Hmmm I bet a command strip would do the trick! They are double sided and easy to remove after. Since the dp doesn't weigh much it should work!
