Watched your video again. I love the idea and I keep practicing. My biggest hurdle is cutting the foam board. I guess my knife isn’t sharp enough! I will keep trying. Thanks again!
Thank you so much! Yes, cutting the foam board can be a challenge. A good knife is a must. One time it wasn't working well for me, and I realized I didn't have enough of the blade extended. Once I corrected, that it worked. And I need to put quite a bit of pressure down to help it cut through too. I'm really glad I have the metal ruler to use as a straight edge, or my lines would be all over the place. Even with it I can make mistakes. Good luck! I hope it works out for you. Please let me know if it does! :-)
Thank you so much for doing these framing videos! I love the normal diamond art content, as I enjoy seeing what other people do, but I always wondered how to "finish" them. They seem to need customized framing, which is a fortune in and of itself, so seeing more cost-effective methods is has been completely missing for me. I love the way you have the drills going over to the sides! I did a DAC round kit on sale at hobby lobby that I did for my mom last year, and found out at the framing department they they could dry frame it, and so I did. It looks good, but I wish the sides weren't so bare. I never thought about wrapping them around! What hardware do you plan to use with the foam board canvases?
Thank you much for your comment. I was having the same issues which is why I worked to come up with this and am really happy how they turned out. I keep getting asked about how they were hung on the wall and I had my husband do that so I’m going to ask him and add another video showing that as I think it will be easier to explain that way. Thanks again!

Thank you for this video! It worked so well. I did alter by using Tackey Spray adhesive for the front of the foam to stick the painting too. Just in case anyone is wondering if that's an option. @@KelliHediger you are most welcome!!! There are a lot of ways to finish one and honestly I don’t display all of mine. It’s just about doing them. 🤷♀️ I definitely didn’t display my first ones (but they were small and cheap and not worth displaying), but they did help me realize how much I love diamond painting! How relaxing and enjoyable it is ArtDot has some really nice licensed kits that aren’t very expensive and they are all round (more on their website. I have links in my description box). Diamond Art Club is best for square drills but they are expensive and that’s an investment for “trying”. But they’re licensed and they have some smaller kits for less. I just hated my first square because it was from a cheap company and the drills were awful so they didn’t line up well. Now I love them because they’re from a good company Just suggesting: don’t spend too much to make sure you like it, but I am someone who promotes licensed artwork which is why I mention those two companies (especially artdot: I do have a post review of Sunflowers in Twilight). That could look cool too! Good idea. I’ve never sealed a canvas and would like to avoid it on some but I’ve got some sealant to use if I ever find I really need to. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones, I'm curious to know why you don't want to seal your canvases after completion. And what circumstances would force you to do that. Thank you!
@@QuiltingMatilda I’ve “talked” to a bunch of people online who say it’s an unnecessary step, it’s simply not needed. Most of my canvases are diamond art club and they don’t recommend it, and personally, I worry that they will lose some of their sparkle if I do cover with a sealer. Especially with the special drills. I did just seal some coasters though and they seem to still look ok. I think, at this point, the only reason I would seal is if I have so many popping drills that I need to, in order to keep all the drills in place, and that it’s on a piece I want to keep and display. So far I haven’t had an issue with that though either. Or maybe if I notice that the ones on display are gathering dust in places I don’t want it, especially on rounds. I think I’d be more likely to seal a round kit for that reason. Only time will tell at this point. I have purchased sealers in the beginning of my diamond painting days, but haven’t used it yet. It’s good to have on hand just in case. Just my opinion, as of this moment in time. But I’m always learning. Thanks for the question

It’s on the list though!!! And I have some ideas to improve the method I’ll share then too
Great tutorial. Been wanting to try this and now, I’m ready to go!!! One question-why did you cover the board with the adhesive sheet, since you used the tape all around??
Thanks for watching! Glad you found it helpful. I used the adhesive sheet stuff because I wanted to help sure the canvas would always lay flat on the board. If I just used the tape on the edges, with large paintings especially, I think the canvas could bubble out when hanging on the wall. Maybe it wouldn’t. 🤷♀️ I think it would be okay to just tape the edges on small pieces, but on the large ones, I think it’s important to have the back of the canvas really stick to the board so it won’t bubble off. Would be a good experiment though. Maybe I can try that with a less preferred painting and see what happens over time Good question. Thanks for asking
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones Thanks so much for clarifying. It seems a great idea, especially for the hefty ones-like you said. “Better to be safe than sorry “🤗🫤🤗I’m part of that gang too(most of the time) lol.
The paintings look awesome that way and I would love to do mine like that but I’m not sure I have the strength in my hands anymore to cut the foam board😢 I used to work with plastic canvas and I made a 3 floor doll house using foam board between the walls of the house and it wasn’t very easy to cut the board back then. But I was only using an exacto knife which you know is the size of a pen. I’m guessing it’s alot easier to use a utility knife. I like the ruler that you use. I need a flat ruler to cut out the sections I work on the art. I section my work in square pieces using washi tape. Thank God for people like you posting vids cuz I almost gave up diamond art painting. It was more frustrating than relaxing for me and now it’s relaxing again. By not using a glass covered frame do you have problems with dust on the art and losing drills cuz the glue might dry out? Another thing I learned from peoples vids is size matters. I like landscapes and too busy or alot of confetti will make the art look crappy. My first 2 are throwaways to practice on for the good paintings I’ve been working on. Again thank you for the informative vids and I’m now subscribed to your channel as well
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. I’m glad you’re diamond painting again. I don’t know, but I wonder if using a really sharp utility knife and a straight edge like I did would make it easier for you. Couldn’t hurt to try. I’m not very strong myself, but I’m also not weak… I guess I’m average. So if I can do it… 🤷♀️ I haven’t been diamond painting very long, and these are the first I’m putting on my wall. Others have told me they don’t have problems with dust or losing drills so I’m hoping that’s the case. Although I did just find some dust on another WIP, but it was where some enhancement drills were not level. So I’m thinking if it’s level and hanging on the wall, it would be okay. I sure hope so. I love these birds and really want them to last. And yes! Size matters! Plus, the larger the size, the more drills to lay, which to me equals more fun. Thanks again for subscribing! And commenting. I see I have a lot of comments to look at from you and I’m really excited about it. Thank you so much
I have not, as I have never sealed a diamond painting, although I bought sealant early on thinking I would need to. I will be sealing some coasters so may do a video on that after I’ve practiced and I will do a video if I decide to seal, but so far it hasn’t seemed necessary so I haven’t done it.

When you taped your board together did you do it front and back? I have a lot of large canvases that I would need to make a bigger board. This is awesome video thank you. I am new to your channel
Yes! I taped both sides, and put down a few strips of tape. Wanted to try to make it as secure as possible. And mine actually weren’t “perfect” when they lined up next to each other. There was a small gap but I was able to make it so the outside part was flush and felt that was what was most important. @@angelanorthcott8449 I actually made a second video to address this. It can be found in my tips and tutorials playlist. Thanks for asking and watching
Great video! I have found some canvas boards for smaller paintings, but the bigger ones are odd sizes. I wondered what to do when the foam board bows. The release paper from the tape sheet could be used as release paper when you are diamond painting.
That’s a great idea! To refuse that paper!!! Hopefully I can keep my other foam boards from bowing but I think it works okay how I did that one. Looks good now anyway. And did you see how I taped that one together? I had to cut three pieces and tape them together to get the right size, and know I will have to do that for some larger ones in the future. (Like “Lost With You” is long and short: no board for that size) I think that should work fine, because once the canvas is wrapped it will continue to help hold them in place. And I taped both sides. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Love your ideas

I honestly can’t tell you with 100% certainty as I haven’t tried it and I haven’t even sealed a painting yet. However, if your sealant still allows the canvas to bend/roll a bit, I don’t see why not. It just needs to be able to go over the edges so if it can do that it should work.
@@juliebecker4436 I have not sealed any of my diamond paintings yet. So the ones in these videos were not sealed. They are still holding together rather well. I am considering starting to seal paintings I want to display. I’m just not sure which product to use yet and plan to do a video where I compare them. But that probably won’t be for a little while still If I do decide to seal moving forward then I would go back and seal these mounted once, which would be after mounting. I’ve asked a lot of people and most say it’s really not necessary but if I run into one that starts to lose drills I’ll have to. When framing in this manner I think it’s important to not seal first so the canvas is still very bendable. If I were to seal, I’d do it after it’s on the canvas (I think: but like I said, I haven’t done it before on any of my paintings. And at least with square drills there aren’t cracks for dust. But the community seems to say dust isn’t an issue so.. 🤷♀️ in all honesty, I haven’t been diamond painting long enough to know myself, and these are the first I’m putting on my wall permanently so I’ll find out eventually.

@@KelliHediger you are most welcome!!! There are a lot of ways to finish one and honestly I don’t display all of mine. It’s just about doing them. 🤷♀️
I definitely didn’t display my first ones (but they were small and cheap and not worth displaying), but they did help me realize how much I love diamond painting! How relaxing and enjoyable it is
ArtDot has some really nice licensed kits that aren’t very expensive and they are all round (more on their website. I have links in my description box). Diamond Art Club is best for square drills but they are expensive and that’s an investment for “trying”. But they’re licensed and they have some smaller kits for less. I just hated my first square because it was from a cheap company and the drills were awful so they didn’t line up well. Now I love them because they’re from a good company
Just suggesting: don’t spend too much to make sure you like it, but I am someone who promotes licensed artwork which is why I mention those two companies (especially artdot: I do have a post review of Sunflowers in Twilight). If you end up loving it, diamond art club is amazing and there’s a lot of other great companies like Jaded Gem Shop and Paint Gems (this one is a great way to try squares)

You can seal the DP and the pain the edges of the canvas before mounting so it would have a coloured edge that could look cool with your method too!!!

Maybe I can try that with a less preferred painting and see what happens over time
Good question.
Again thank you for the informative vids and I’m now subscribed to your channel as well
P.S. crappy is my word but it’s actually pixelated to other vloggers
So if I can do it… 🤷♀️
I haven’t been diamond painting very long, and these are the first I’m putting on my wall.

I’m glad I had the chance to practice taping together because I have some coming up that are super awkward sizes and will need that for me to be able to do the same way of “framing” for them.
Thanks so much for the compliment and for watching! Glad you found it helpful

Can you use thos mounting method if you've sealed the project? Thanks
I honestly can’t tell you with 100% certainty as I haven’t tried it and I haven’t even sealed a painting yet. However, if your sealant still allows the canvas to bend/roll a bit, I don’t see why not. It just needs to be able to go over the edges so if it can do that it should work.
Do you seal your art? If so, before or after placing on board.
Thank you 😊
@@juliebecker4436 I have not sealed any of my diamond paintings yet. So the ones in these videos were not sealed. They are still holding together rather well.
I am considering starting to seal paintings I want to display. I’m just not sure which product to use yet and plan to do a video where I compare them. But that probably won’t be for a little while still
If I do decide to seal moving forward then I would go back and seal these mounted once, which would be after mounting. So I think you could do it either way; so long as the canvas is still a bit bendable after the sealant has been applied.
Sorry I can’t be more help on that yet except to say I haven’t sealed any and so far I haven’t had issues

I really like how it turned out too. Thanks for watching
Yes I am new, please tell me the name of the diamond painting on your table,,,,, I would love to get it.
@@nedragreen2170 the one I’m working on in this video is Gladis by Richard Lorenz. Unfortunately she’s been archived but there are a lot of other cool Richard Lorenz birds on Diamond Art club’s website. You can also join a destash group on Facebook and put out an ISO to try and find her there. I hope you have some good luck trying to find her or another Richard Lorenz piece! I just love all his silly birds. Thanks for watching and joining! Happy to have you here
Thank you for this video! Ive been wracking my 69 year old brain trying to figure out how to do just this!
@@QuiltingMatilda thank you! I hope the video helped. If you ever have any questions, just let me know. I’m happy to help any way that I can
Thanks
Do you glue set your drills before using foam board?
@@trishwilliams3393 are you asking if I “seal” my painting first? I assume so, and I did not. It’s not something I’ve ever found an actual need to do. However, I think you could. I know there are a lot of sealants out there, so you’d just need to make sure it is one that still will allow your canvas to be able to roll/bend around those edges. If I ever do seal a painting, I’ll be sure to do a video. Thanks for asking.
Any ideas on some kind of flat decorative corner (like protectors ) you could stick on , or ones that would have enough depth & overlap for the thickness of the dry mount you could use to enhance the frame look ? I see a lot of stuff on Temu but will not buy from them .......
@@doublej4077 that’s a great idea but it could be hard to find one that would fit. 🤔 but I do wonder if you could find ones made for canvases that would work or some that are foldable so you could make them fit a variety of sizes. I don’t know. That’s a really great idea though and worth looking into. I know they make a lot for pictures so it’s all about finding the right size
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones: Well I placed an order on Amazon for a 20 piece vintage bronze corner protectors decorative metal edge covers etc and we will see how that does . But there was another idea I got from a lady , and that idea has a lot of potential I can adapt it for use . The title of her vid was "How to make DIY faux metal corners for junk journal covers ! Cheap and quick step by step tutorial. " I think for sure this one will work for what I want. ANyway thanks for your quick response . I want to accent that framed look with this idea !
@@doublej4077 I think it sounds amazing! Can you let me know how it goes? Maybe send me an email with pictures? Thanks
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones : Sure ok...once I get it worked out I will send you some pics.

New subscriber, how do you mount it on the wall?
@@michaelacolorsandcreates4030 thanks for subscribing! I actually made a second video explaining how I did it. It’s in my tips and tutorials section. Others have suggested command strips. I may try that on small ones in the future but like the hangars we used since they are working so far.
I plan to do another one soon of a really awkward size too
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones thank you

Sorry if I’m commenting before you mention it in this video, but did you seal these diamond paintings? I’m just thinking about the need to dust them in the future, especially if they aren’t framed behind glass…I haven’t done a lot of diamond painting but I’m thinking that sealing most or all of them is best practice so the drills stay on.
I LOVE all these crazy birds!
Thank you!
I’m glad you ask questions while you think of them. I do mention at some point that I did not seal them. I haven’t sealed any yet.
I did mica powder the extra glue on the edges to prevent the dust and stuff there though. I think I mention that too)
Thanks again for asking and watching
That’s a very good point about waiting to seal it (if going that direction) until after mounting it.
These are going to look so cool when you have them all displayed!
@@PDXMom there are so many they’re eventually going to take over the entire house! The idea was to put them in the stairwell but with 4 new releases in a month, I have a feeling I’m going to outgrow that space fast. 🤣
Hi, new subscriber here, where did you get the tape between the foam board and painting? I looked on Amazon but, couldn’t find it, what is it called? Thanks
Thanks for subscribing!
Everything I used has links in the description box (or there should be: if there’s not, something went wrong and I need to fix it. Let me know if you still can’t find it)
Thanks, I found it

This is brilliant, so beautiful, thank you ❤
@@robertahouston8990 thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. I have a 50 x 137 cm one to try to do next 😬 I’m sure I can get it to work but it will be a bit more challenging to say the least 🤣
Where do you find the description box and the links to products you have purchased for this video? I’m trying to find out where you Purchased the double-sided adhesive sheet, roll, from Amazon and I don’t know where to find it on your page. Thank you. 14:25
@@PamMoinette there should be a link that says “more…” right underneath the video. On my phone it’s under the video and next to the lengths of time for the video. If you click “more” than the description box will open up with all that information
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones thank you for the quick response. There wasn’t anything under the video that said more so I finally found it under newest comments. Thank you.
Now I’ve lost the info again. Under Moore it only gives you the option to look at the transcript. Amazon even threw away the role of tape that was in my cart.
@@PamMoinette hmm. Sorry. I’m guessing everyone type of phone/computer is a bit different but I’m glad you found it!!! Thanks

What did u use to hang them
@@carmalitacoates8302 I actually made another video to show this since so many people asked. It’s in my tips and tutorials playlist. We used sawtooth picture hangers because we already had nails on the wall to use. Others have suggested just using command strips. I may do that in the future, especially as my flock gets bigger and I need to rearrange where my birds all go. Hope that helps (or watch that video, and maybe it can show you better). Thanks for watching!
I put special tape around mine
What kind of tape? I got some fabric border stuff when I started but haven’t used it on anything yet.
I don’t do this to all my paintings. Depends on the painting how I finish it. Would love to look into the tape you use though
Thanks for watching
Washi tape, colored duck tape, ect. I have also glued ribbon around them.
@@susanagnew8768 love the ribbon idea. I struggle getting washi to stay very long… the glue line can help. Does it just stay better for you or do you do glue parts of that down too?
Glue washi tape too.
How will you hang it on the wall?
A lot have asked me this and my husband hung them so I’m going to do another video explaining how he did that as it will help easier to explain that way. So stay tuned 😁😉
My diamond painting kept falling off the wall😢. Other than that, it looked good. I gave up, though.
@@aliceballard6988 how were you trying to hang it?
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones So I followed the procedure with foam board and the wide adhesive. That worked fine. The sawtooth hanger (probably not the right name) kept separating from the board, probably because I was taping it on with strapping tape. Not strong enough. My plan was to have a temporary hanger so I could remove it to store the dp flat when desired. It was too temporary:) Fortunately, I used an expendable dp that I don't care much about. It was just 30x30, but still was too heavy.
@@aliceballard6988 hmm… 🤔 Mine were much larger and we got the sawtooth thing to work. I know my husband taped it down A LOT! From all directions. And I think he used some super glue too but the back was so smooth it didn’t work very well. You could also try command strips because they are removable, but they may need a super glued on too
Anyone ever tell you your voice sounds identical to Kamala Harris?😏
Haha 🤣 No!!! I have never heard that one. 😆
