Just now seeing this! There are several things I love about this video: 1) We get to see Olympic-level form and execution from Pope. 2) We get to see a complete novice working their way up to the full execution. 3) We get to see all of the tries and retries and more retries it takes to get the moves right. 4) We have a coach who is not there to stroke the ego, but just to get the novice to focus on perfect form and execution. 5) MEG.KEEPS.TRYING! She keeps taking all of the advice in stride, always with poise and positive self-talk. I could watch this video 100 more times and be way better off than I am when I watch 99% of the ego-stroking crap on lifting available online. Bravo ladies, and I enjoy Max's disciplined approach to coaching. I love seeing form videos with women in them - please keep posting content like this - it helps so many people!

You were on point with everything. I was watching this vid with much joy and your comment summarized it perfectly. But to point 5, that is it what made the vid. Ofcourse you need someone who knows what they're saying but someone who keeps trying is the most important part.
      Much love❤

Just be aware a lot of these chicks are on gear. Squats is natty but Pope is juicing here. I know your comment is several years old but SARMS and other PEDs are rampant within the fitness community, if you see a woman sporting a physique that would make men jealous, especially across the shoulders, the odds of her being natural are close to zero. If your daughter never gets big and muscly like that it's not because she isn't good enough, it's because these fake natties are giving people a bad idea of what is naturally achievable.

The thing that made the biggest difference to me was realizing that I shouldnt pull it off the floor like a deadlift. The bar should be further away from you that it would during a deadlift. That way it's much easier to bounce it off of your legs.

  • @oboyy
    @oboyy 3 роки тому +1

I have a few things to add out of experience for all you lifter friends out there.
When you are drilling these movements into your subconscious it's important you do it right. For a clean it's important you pull the bar no longer than to your belly button at the most. If you pull past this point the bar will crush you once you start loading up with some serious weights. We're talking devastating injuries. So to reiterate, your final position before you dip under the bar should be no higher than your belly button.
As for your grip, you should always keep a closed hand for full control of the bar. This not only gives you better balance and the ability to save some shaky lifts but can also save you from horrendous injuries. You don't want the bar slipping out of your hand. If you can't manage this, work on your mobility until you can.

  • @rd_eli

The woman is a great learner for the vid. Not just because she is a great listener to constructive criticism but because she is already fit. She can handle the weight, this vid is pure about technique. I couldnt do alot just because of mobility so i know where to start but for someone to have the strenght, mobility and "fit level" still strugle with this is the perfect example.
And dont get me started with the other girl. She perfectly describes what is possible with way better form while being the same "ish" weight and hight (and gender most important).
Much love and im definitely subscribed

This video is so useful. What's great about it is that you can just follow along yourself, sort of like getting a free lesson (minus someone there to critique your form obviously). Somehow it just feels easier to get the cues into my head than a short video on form cues.

He points out flaws in technique immediately, but he does it in a positive, humorous way. Kristin Pope is just an amazingly explosive athlete. • @souleater1994122

I appreciate the progression and the difficulties faced during performing each steps. I am learning to clean and jerk by myself because unfortunately there are no powerlifting coaches where I live. I could really understand her Megan's tendency to miss out on making her thigh contact the bar in early stages simply because the weight is very light for which only upperbody strength is sufficient. But this is a problem later on as one increases the weight. My problem is exact this. I struggle to create the explosiveness required to clean heavy weights because the bar does not make contact with my thighs. I just simply forget each time. I can kind of "clean" without the contact until 65kgs but once I notch it up to 70kg, I face my limitation because of lack of proper technique. This video was a good reminder and I am looking forward for my next workout session to apply this method. Thanks for the gem.

World champs are below parallel catching the rack & usually take advantage of final bottom scruncth position to increase upward momentum from added momentum from the bounce upwards.
Your lifts were more for power cleans going by the higher unwanted bar hieght.

I love these videos, they are very helpful. Could you please do a video on improving the front rack for the jerk and front squat? Also, if you could demonstrate on someone that has poor mobility and difficulties holding the position. Instructional videos always use athletes that have near perfect technique already.

Amazing video! I am practicing this. It's a lot harder than you make it look!

Awesome, thankyou. SO helpful for me as I start learning the C&J. I'd LOVE to see Kristen coaching you. That'd be a really different dynamic. #GrrlPower

Super helpful intro. Loved every minute. I feel like i have a much better foundation for trying to learn this movement and i was jumping up and down in my bedroom along with the girls to get the movement down. Peace/ Love and muscles from the Sf Bay Area!

I related so much to this. “I can do this. I can do this. There are so many steps!” 😂 there really are so many little things you have to think about! It’s a lot to remember as a beginner
