I watched the replay and omg Anita it was great. I am progressing closer to carnivore or for sure ketovore. I just calculated my macros for the first time after 2 yr keto. I understand the progression to lower carbs and less sweetners and stuff. I’m getting there.
It took me awhile to get there too!
Missed the live, early morning here in New Zealand, Monday, I was off to the hot pools and shopping. Will catch up now. Was so interested in the macros. Cannot work things out. Lost 25kgs in the first 5 months on strict keto, but now stable for over a year. Ok with that as I have not put anything on, but still have 10 -20kgs to lose.
There were so many questions that I'm doing a followup this Sunday to answer some of the questions more fully.
I missed you this morning coz I’m soooo wrapped up in my Delivery of my new Ninja Foodie XL ….. it’s just like yours and I had to test it out straight away with some Turkey/Beef Rissoles …. So easy and quick. I love it. 😊❤

I've never used macros. I worked out how many grams of carb and how many grams of protein, which is how the food tables define the nutrient content (not in pointless percentages). Then I can increase or decrease fat according to satiety , need for ketones etc.

Great information Anita, thank you! I noticed on the 70/30 meal with 1 tbsp butter the fat is 45.5 g but in the 75/25 meal with 2 tbsp of butter the fat is down to 42 g yet has more butter lol. Thanks again!

Good morning. Have you (Kevin) considered kettlebells? I’m getting back to my swing workouts and will be adding the other movements soon. I’m almost your age, I have a bad knee and a “better” knee. I find swing workouts plus walking the pup really good. It’s slower now that it’s winter in Alberta, but I do enjoy my treadmill.
I have not heard of swing workouts before! I will look that up!

That's a great way to explain. I have one question. Why on your Keto starting macros, do they only add up to 95? Shouldn't the total be 100, like maybe, 75/20/5 I appreciate the macro method. If I just ate all the meat I wanted... I would be back where I started. Some of us can put away more meat than our body needs. I need solid guidelines. Thanks so much.
oh my goodness, that was another typo! Should have been 70/25/5! But for some people 70/25/5 would also work!
If I have no calorie deficit I don't lose weight. It's great that I know I can eat OMAD ketovore intuitively for maintenance but it's a longtime stall right now. Similar macros for me at 60 if I want to get weight off.
Yes, I have to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight as well. But it would still be too low if I did OMAD. Chronically undereating brings a whole other set of problems and I don't want to go there. 2MAD generally works well for me.
I’m sure that I’m under eating. I get so full and am not hungry enough to eat a second meal. I’m 5’3” and now weigh 115 ponds. Maybe that’s the right weight for my heigh, but not sure.
Just make sure you are getting enough protein for that 115 lbs! As we get older we need it for our muscles and to stay healthy! It's about that more than a scale number.

- I really love learning from you - you had mentioned sleep - how do you get better sleep? Supplements? Is there another tip besides butter ? (Butter caused me to gain weight-) I would love any suggestions for sleep 💤
I'm going to do a followup live this Sunday because there were so many questions! I'll bring along my castor oil pack and talk about the other things that I find helpful as well.
I sleep very poor when I reduce carbs to keto or lower.

Kadenleger, I have terrible sleep, but Anita’s video re: constipation actually brought me to a lymphatic treatment. It worked within hours for the constipation so I explored more of the lymph videos. They, plus acupressure, have helped my sleep considerably. Good luck! (Also, for me, magnesium has been important, at my age of 74.)
I appreciated this information so much. I have been doing OMAD for quite awhile and feel like I have been undereating. Have struggled figuring out the macro thing but this helps. One question I've never heard addressed in keto or carnivore. Are hot flashes due to lack of fat in diet--from years of eating "low-fat"? For me--surgical menopause at 35, HRT for a few years, then bio-identical HRT for several years. No kind of HRT now, for maybe 15 years... Still struggle at age 69. So tired of them. Would appreciate some direction. Functional medicine Dr hasn't a clue how to help. Don't know where to turn.
I would try to get an appointment with Dr. Elizabeth Bright. So does take online appointments and she is the go to for hormonal issues with mid life women. But yes our generation has had all those years of low fat pounded into our heads and it wasn't good for us. If you are able to 2 meals and at least spread out the food a little so you can get in some more protein and fat that would be a great place to start.
I am 14 years since surgical menopause and I was hot flashing as a side effect of a fibromyalgia med. Stopped that once I realized what was going on. I also get the meat sweats when I eat too much meat since I OMAD and can easily eat 24 to 32 ounces in one sitting. I am fighting to eat less protein and more fat to mitigate any gluconeogenesis. There is a ballpark for how much protein to eat based on your lean muscle mass, 1 gram per pound, at minimum so as not to lose muscle. I bought a scale with 8 electrodes so that I can get that initial reading and occasionally see if what I'm doing is shifting my body composition. Just some ideas, sounds like we'd benefit from some coaching.
Hi Anita, in the calculation you talk about 70/20/5 percent for fat/protein and carbs. Than you miss 5 percent. Is it not 70/25/5?

Just eat fatty meat. No need to count macros, or carbs or anything else.
Well I did that and was stalled for months. Like I said, if what you are doing is working for you keep doing it! Some people need to tweak things to make it work.
