    I use Tide Laundry Detergent. Yep. That's right. I fill one side of my porcelain sink with hot water and put in about a 1/4 cup + and mix it up. I then set my pans in there overnight. I might have to leave them a little longer if they are super bad. Then I can lightly scrub them and they shine like new and my porcelain sink turns perfectly white.

    I rarely comment on videos, but I must this time. As you mentioned on cleaning bottom of stainless steel pans, I do use bar keepers friend and it is wonderful for cleaning inside the pot, but it would not work on the outside bottom. I used your suggestion of using Easy Off and let it sit for a couple of hours....I wish I had a before and after photo to show...it was magic...cleaned it so it now looks brand new. Great!! I will use this on my Stainless Steel Daytona Exhaust Tips.

    • @KitchenTipsOnline
      @KitchenTipsOnline  4 роки тому

      If you are talking about the filters that come with Dayton exhaust fans you should consider the following option for cleaning them. Take a large heavy duty garbage bag and pour in about 3/4 of a cup of ammonia. Seal the bag them put it outside in case it develops a leak and let it rest there overnight. Then you should be able to just take a hose and rinse off the ammonia and all the grease and debris in the filter. Mike 🙂

      @@KitchenTipsOnline Hi Mike! I appreciate your help. The exhaust tips I'm speaking of are on my car. Samantha Fleming, if you soak it in vinegar overnight that should do the job. Vinegar is the enemy of calcium. In fact, if you soak an egg overnight in vinegar it will completely dissolve the shell which is made of calcium. If you have kids it's a pretty cool trick because what's left behind is the membrane and the yolk and the inside white part of the egg. Thanks for your kind words about my channel and your feedback, Mike ☺

    I wonder if the steel seals in the multi-ply clad bottoms are generally tight, or if it is possible for cleaner to get in and start reacting with aluminum. I've used dissolved sodium hydroxide at 80-90 degrees of temperature to clean carbon off single peace unplated steel frying pans with rather thick burns, as well as steel cladded with aluminum (that got etched as expected, while not releasing burns). If there is live grease still, the burns fall off, or can be lightly scratched off while still hot with another pot or an implement. Only works with steel, glass is ok at low temperature.
    Temperature speeds up all reactions, and might even be enough with weaker washing soda, but I haven't bothered to try. Hot water makes its way in and cleans grime out of every nook around handles, better than foam. Don't breathe over the tub and wear glasses.

    • @KitchenTipsOnline
      @KitchenTipsOnline  4 роки тому

      I recognize that there is an aluminum heat conducting disc between the bottom of the pan and the outer surface that touches the heat. But I do not believe that it's possible that oven cleaner could get inside, and damage that disc, Mike 🙂

    Hi. It's hard to find information on how to remove hard water spots on copper, the usual treatments don't work (vinegar, salt, barkeepers friend, metal polish, etc.). These are the faint white water marks (actually more beige/gray) that come from not immediately cleaning a pan and letting it sit in water. I've even tried a professional buffing machine, the copper is very shiny but those spots are still there!

      kym mathias, nope that is not the case. I use Bar Keeper's Friend and I am a fan. However, Bar Keepers Friend is not as strong of a cleaner as oven cleaner. Given enough time and elbow grease, Bar Keepers Friend would eventually clean the bottom of the pan in the video. However, I was demonstrating a faster easier way. Thanks for your feedback, Mike

      I'm not sure what you are trying to say? Are you saying SOS pads are better than Brillo pads? Mike 🙂

    Can easy off oven cleaner work on stainless steel stovetop?

      Lucy Roy, yes it can but if it's not too dirty and it just needs spiffed-up, use WD-40. Mike ☺ Here is a video you can check out, ua-cam.com/video/6T1PfK2R-vI/v-deo.html

      I don't know about the ring in your toilet maybe someone else can answer that but I can tell you this, spray some oven cleaner on that shower door let it sit for a few minutes and it will be spotless, Mike ☺

      I agree. But for people that don’t understand how to use, stainless steel for say, they will get that shit gunked up like crazy and scrubbing will be hard.

    The active ingredient in bkf is Oxalic Acid and is used in other products Zud, or alone. Hunch orange peel might work.

      Kathy, yes I tried ketchup. It did seem to work a little bit, but I was trying to find something with the minimal amount of scrubbing. Thanks for your feedback. Mike ☺
