it would be less work if they used water instead of vinegar to make a paste. even less work if they used washing soda instead of baking soda, though they'd probably want to wear gloves then. If you're going to use the foamy reaction of vinegar and baking soda to help with cleaning, only use it when one or the other has already been applied to the item you're cleaning.

Most oven doors are removable. Mines 21 years old and mine do. I discovered it quite accidentally. That way your door is able to be cleaned separately on a flat surface. Then it also makes the oven itself accessible without the door in your way. Also I bought an oven liner that helps. God Bless

My oven is 10 years old currently and gets heavy daily use. Looks almost exactly how it did when new. My nanna always wiped hers out with just white vinegar on a clean towelling rag while the oven was still a bit warm after every use for cooking. I have done the same for over 20 years. It takes a few minutes. No smells either. Oven never gets bad enough to have to scrub hard. I also line my oven floor with foil for preventing any baked on spills. Your mix is similar to mine. I use it for shower glass and tiles. Best thing ever. Especially for hard water stains/limescale.

I also use it in the laundry rinse cycle, in place of fabric softener. Cuts the suds and actually softens the clothes. Vinegar scent dissipates and leaves no residual.

One suggestion, to make things a bit easier, most ovens have a lift-off door. You can tell by looking at the hinge. With the door open, you literally lift the hinges and the door will unhook. If you’re going through the process (maybe, once yearly) you can remove the 4 screws on the inside of the door and access the inside to clean the interior of the glass.

I had baked-on grease on a glass toaster-oven door that just would not come off at all, no matter what I tried, physical or chemical. Then I read about vinegar and baking soda. I left it on the door for three days, occasionally spraying white vinegar on to keep it active, and adding a little baking soda here and there. I was encouraged to keep going because I could see the baked on grease starting to dissolve. MIRACLE. It all came off, no scrubbing needed. I use this mixture a lot, and will now trying with Dawn, too.
The only thing about cleaning the oven with this, which I do, is that it really takes work to get all the baking soda off, especially without a friend.

Once everything is softened with your cleaner, rather than wiping it off, use an old credit card or the 'award' cards you get in the mail for contributions, to gently scrape and scoop up and dump the goop. An ice scraper or dough separator would work as well.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for the little things like this that you give us. I'm sure making and editing the video isn't easy, but it really is helpful. I started on a very filthy oven today, and only let it sit for about 45 minutes. But that already loosened up a lot of stuff. I have an even worse one to do in another rental, I will start that one in the morning and let it sit. This is so much easier and better than the stinky self cleaning or the harsh chemicals. My husband is a retired painter and he trained me how to make sure surfaces are wet before using a razor on them and always with a holder for them, as well. I keep it in a safe place in my kitchen. I am impressed with this video though. I, like one other reply here, have custom made painted cabinets that also house double ovens. I was told early on when they were new not to use the clean feature (Bosch ovens) as the temperature on some ovens can reach 900 degrees. I have a self clean oven and the unit itself is the cheapest oven at lowes with other flaws, and because of those flaws - i don't trust the self-clean feature. So I am trying this today. I hope it works. I do use dawn and vinegar to clean my shower and tub as it is very safe for those surfaces. Hopefully their recipe will work on the oven.

Great video. You can also put your racks in the bathtub to soak and rinse - lots more room there. And remove the oven door so you can reach to the back easier.
