This woman has 27 Grammies! Perfect pitch, angelic voice... she's one of a kind! This was first done by Keith Whitley, who passed away too soon. You should check him out too. His voice.. so good 😊
@@billwalker7556 I don't disagree. I wish people would react to her other stuff. She's one of my all time favorites and she has so many beautiful songs.
The guy playing guitar, on the right side of the screen, is Dan Tyminski, who did the singing for George Clooney in the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou"
She is currently touring with Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant. The Queen of Blue Grass and the King of Rock. Her talent is amazing. The number of Grammy awards speaks for itself.
When someone asks me if I like country music, my response is 95% is not worth listening to, and sometimes worse than that. But 5% is about as good as it gets. "Crazy" is one of the best songs ever composed (Willie Nelson) and performed (Patsy Cline). And that's just one example of how Great country music can be.
Usually country and bluegrass are not my first musical choices (though this song is arguably something else), but Alison Krauss (and Emmylou Harris as well) tips the scale for me. She has such a pure voice, with great power. She has won the third most Grammys of any musician of all time, yet somehow she seems so underrated. Thanks for reacting to her.
My beautiful wife walked down the aisle 21 years ago to the original version (Keith Whitley) of this song. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
For those who haven't heard this Incredible mashup, here it is: ua-cam.com/video/6fRlqQdJWyU/v-deo.html The lyrics just eat at my heart! STUNNING!!! @@Furball-8994
Alison Kraus has such an angelic voice. Of all the singers I've heard in my lifetime, her voice literally 'melts' me. I could listen to her sing all day, every day. Simply one of a kind. Beautiful.
Alison did a great cover but Keith Whitley was the original and took it to #1 on the charts. He died of alcohol poisoning while attempting to mend a broken heart according to the rumor mill. The man had a voice that could touch your soul!
No he died of alcohol poisoning while being a drunk. His brother had literally just been with him an hour before he died and he said he was fine and acting normal.
I just saw Alison live with Robert Plant a few weeks ago. I cannot describe how ethereal and arresting her voice is live. Their music together is amazing. I also highly recommend anything Alison Krauss has done with Vince Gill. They did a show where they played each other’s songs and it’s one of my favorite performances ever.
Please react to the Original singer of this song, Keith Whitley...❤❤❤ Whitley was just recently inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame... He has many great songs... Miami My Amy, Ten Feet Away, Don't Close Your Eyes, I'm No Stranger To the Rain, I'm Over You, Tell Lorrie I Love Her, Till A Tear Becomes A Rose, I Don't Go Around Mirrors, Homecoming '63, Charlotte's In North Carolina, Nobody In His Right Mind Would Have Left Her, I'm Gonna Hurt Her On the Radio, and I Wonder Do You Think Of Me are AMAZING SONGS, by Keith Whitley...RIP❤❤❤
Alison Krauss is the leading lady of Bluegrass music. I was blessed to see her perform four or five times, with Union Station, in our small town. Absolutely phenomenal.
That gorgeous little fill you noticed that helps bring the song to life is from a mandolin. But Alison can sing like an angel with any band behind her, and she harmonizes amazingly, too.
Voice of an angel. She's got an amazing tenderness in her voice, even when she's at 100% power. That instrument is a mandolin, and it's a lively thing. Ricky Skaggs, who can play about anything, is a good mandolin player. Hear it a lot in bluegrass!
This performance is from the Country Music episode of PBS' "In Performance at the White House" from November of 2011. Alison was preceded by The Band Perry, and followed by James Taylor. She was accompanied by her Union Station band mate Dan Tyminski on guitar and her protege, and child prodigy, Sierra Hull on the mandolin. Dan Tyminski is probably best known for voicing over George Clooney's singing voice on "Man of Constant Sorrow" in the Coen Bros. movie "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?", and singing lead on the Avicii song, "Hey Brother".
🎼🎼🎼🤍🎼🎼🎼 .. good morning. Your fantastic journey has brought through many of the great Country Music singers , and now you know the real gem of them all ,, Alison Krauss. I think every person could remain happy if they listened to Alison .. Vince Gill .. Merle Haggard .. Dolly Parton .. Patsy Cline .. Alan Jackson and Don Williams sing a little every day. Thank you Britt .. I loved this selection .. ❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️zz
if you want to hear one of the most amazing cooperations in music, you should listen to her together with the still incredible Robert Plant, there is a tiny desk concert of the both of them, that is sooo good.
Lol, I love when "non- country" fans, hear some of the "top" country singers and are utterly amazed by their skills! Alison Krauss is one of the top 3 female country singers, lmao.
Krauss is one of those singers where I know how amazing her voice is, and yet every single time when I begin to listen to a song of hers, I am still *surprised* by just how amazing her voice is.
Alison Kraus is true country bluegrass music. One of the best. Pure voice of an angel. She’s incredible live too. Check out a few of her other songs. You won’t be disappointed.
one of the greatest, most underrated voices in all of music, by everyone who doesn't know who she is and what she's capable of. people been sleeping on Allison Krause for far too long. lovely voice lovely person.
Live, recorded Alison's voice is pure etherealness in it's beauty. she is The Queen of Bluegrass, 27 Grammy's and a total of 46!!!! Grammy nominations.
My favorite Alison Krauss song is "Paper Airplanes". She has a fantasitic live performance of this song on Letterman. Also, the mandolin player, Sierra Hull, is an absolutely incredible musician and singer. (That is a mandolin when you said "isn't that a banjo"). Also, the guitar playing is the great Dan Tyminski who was the singing voice of George Clooney in the movie Oh Brother Where Aren't Thou.
This song always made me think it was about a woman who wants her verbally-ungifted partner to stf up, but she knows she can’t order him to do so, so she comes up with this apparently-a-compliment way to accomplish it. Fun to watch you react to these very sweet country (and country-esque) performances. Another couple of singers you’d be great on are Iris Dement and Eva Cassidy. For Iris, find a video where she sings “My Town” with Emmylou Harris, or her own solo-at-the-piano version of “My Life” on the Tonight Show. For Eva, look for live performances (she’s fun to watch) of “Over the Rainbow” and “Fields of Gold.” Very touching stuff in both cases.
That voice is why so many artists want to work with her, from just about every type of music. It's also why she's the queen of the Grammys (27), no female artist has equaled her. That instrument is a mandolin.
I’ve seen Alison many times at Music Festivals starting when she was 14 years old! She sings like an Angel but fiddles like the devil. She is very warm, funny, and approachable.
Alison Krauss and Dolly Parton share what I call is the yellow highlighter effect. They just bring that extra something indiscernible the IT factor. It’s a Voice that you have to lean into just lovely.
Oh, and by the way, the gentleman playing guitar next to her is Dan Tyminski, the actual singer of "Man of Constant Sorrow" that was lip-synced by George Clooney on the movie "O' Brother, Where Art Thou?".
I saw them live and they spent a good 45 minutes getting the microphones and sound system just right because they are so precise in singing and playing. That was an amazing concert.
The gentleman beside her playing the guitar is Dan Tyminski of her group Union Station. He was George Clooney's singing voice in the movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou".
The girl on the mandolin is Sierra Hull.. a 5 time mandolin player of the year winner. She’s a great bluegrass artist too! She started playing with Allison occasionally since she was 11 years old
You should check out Alison Krauss singing “These Dreams” with Heart. I didn’t know I needed that in my life until I heard it. She also did James Taylor’s “Carolina in my Mind”. Oh my! I think you’d like both. Great reactions! Love your channel.
Alison has some great duets with Robert Plant (of Zeppelin fame) as well as country/bluegrass songs with Vince Gill and others that I’m sure you would enjoy.
Alison does backing vocals on dolly’s incredible Little sparrow album and I’m here for it. She came up a fiddle prodigy but turns out she also has the voice of an angel. It’s like drawn butter in a crystal tureen.
One of the all time best country songs, made famous by Keith Whitley many years ago. And while I love Keith's version, Alison's version is Absolutely Fabulous!
She is regarded as the reigning queen of Bluegrass. The gentlemen to her left, Dan Tyminsk is a member of her band Union Station and was the actual singer of the hit song "Man of constant sorrow" performed by George Clooney in the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou.
I love Alison's voice. I also think she's a hilarious person. During a live performance she was talking about the song "Ghost in this House" ... she heard another band perform the song and she was like "that's the worst thing I've ever heard in my entire life ... we have to do it too." And "Ghost in this House" is amazing, lol. I would also recommend "My Ain True Love" ...

Dylan Scott does a good job covering this song in his live shows.

Not a banjo, a mandolin. BTW, Allison is an amazing fiddler.
Someone called the mandolin "the biggest little instrument"
The Mandolin, 4 pairs of strings, tuned like a fiddle adds the color to the music!
That is a young Serra Hull on the mandolin. She is in her mid 20's now and is busy showing all the Bluegrass "old boys" how it's done.
Reminds me of raindrops
The guy playing guitar, on the right side of the screen, is Dan Tyminski, who did the singing for George Clooney in the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou"
Alison did backup vocals for all of Dolly's albums for 10 years straight. Voice of an angel...
Didn't know that about Alison. She had a great teacher.
Thanks for this information. Didn t know about her backing vocals for Dolly Parton.
Robert Plant & Alison play great music together.
The Whiskey Lullaby video with Allison & Brad Paisley is a must see.
Alison Krauss has one of the best singing voices ever! What an awesome human!
She is currently touring with Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant. The Queen of Blue Grass and the King of Rock. Her talent is amazing. The number of Grammy awards speaks for itself.
"Raising Sand" is an incredible recording.
Allison Krauss has a voice of an angel.
It's the Appalachian mountain in their voice oh beautiful.
And, she is a champion fiddle player.
Not a big fan of modern country, but I will drop everything to hear Alison Krauss sing a song. She has such an amazing voice.
When someone asks me if I like country music, my response is 95% is not worth listening to, and sometimes worse than that. But 5% is about as good as it gets. So sweet it makes my teeth hurt
President Obama loves country music and he loves Alison Krauss with her band Union Station. Always pitch perfection.

I got to see her and the band 5 times! 3 times front row center in a small club.
I recommend Alison Krauss and Union Station “The Lucky One.”
I love that !
Just saw her and Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) together earlier this month!! It was an amazing show!
My cousin had this played for one of her wedding songs.
Britt, that instrument is a mandolin. Alison is such a talent. Voice of an angel and a master on the fiddle.
