Originally recorded by Keith Whitley in 1988 it was a #1 Country hit for him. Recorded by Alison Krauss in 1995. It was her first top 10 single also as a country song. Was included in the movie "Notting Hill" in 1999 sung by Ronan Keating. The Keating version was #1 in the UK Ireland and New Zealand. Just a really good song written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schiltz. Alison Krauss and her band Union Station originally included the song on a tribute album To Keith Whitely who died in 1989.
She started as a straight up bluegrass artist which is where many of the Grammy’s came from. Her band members, Union Station, are known as some of the top players in the Nashville music scene
Wanted to say the same thing, but I KNEW that someone had to have beat me to the punch. Before you watch it, you should know a few things. Based on comments from other reaction videos to the song, it should come with a warning label about making you cry like a baby. Possibly before they even start singing. Also, make sure you watch the music video, not just the audio. Whiskey Lullaby should be required of every reaction channel. And even if you swear to never listen to it again, everyone should listen to it at least once.
Great reaction! Any duet with her is simply amazing: “Whiskey Lullaby” with Brad Paisley and “The Boxer” with Shawn Colvin at the Kennedy Center Honors as a tribute to Paul Simon are the first two that come to mind.
I'm a huge Slayer fan (odd for me to be here you say?) and I love having my face melted off by them. Alison Krauss is hands down my favorite singer though. Her voice melts my soul. She has such a perfect voice for everything that she sings. I've seen her having the voice of an angel, and that's completely true. No grit, rarely an effect, just pure perfection. The band members are also each world class musicians on each of their instruments. Each one of them has won awards for their playing in their solo careers. Each member of this band is a living legend in their own right. Please do more from her as she has decades of great music to choose from.
Here's a really beautiful live performance of "Ghost in This House": ua-cam.com/video/dWRGZaHb8xE/v-deo.html A couple bonus live performances from her that I particularly like: "Allison Krauss & Jerry Douglas - Carolina In My Mind [HD]" - ua-cam.com/video/DqDulYRi1dM/v-deo.html "Alison Krauss Vince Gill Tryin' to get over you" - ua-cam.com/video/y6uXmjquWkA/v-deo.html
Alison started off as a bluegrass singer and musician as a teen. Thats where a good portion of her Grammys came from. One of her best loved songs was a duet with Brad Paisley called Whiskey Lullaby. I'll also recommend another artist worth a look or listen who has a distinct but amazing voice and that would be Linda Ronstadt. When Will I Be Loved, Its So Easy, blue Bayou and desperado are some of my favorites from her.
@matthewdrake4385 Alison has a total of 27 grammys spanning across 5 genres of music. She has 13 grammys in the genre of country music. She has 6 grammys in the genre of bluegrass music. She has 2 grammys in the genre of folk music. She has 2 grammys in the genre of pop music. She has 2 album of the year grammys. She has 1 grammy in the genre of southern gospel. She has 1 grammy for record of the year.
My son worked as a roadie for a while and he worked one of her shows...he told me: Mom when see sang it completely FILLED the auditorium...he said it's one of the most powerful voices he's ever heard... I would tend to agree!
Alison Krauss is simply amazing. She, along with Union Station, came to our hometown in CA nearly every year so we were blessed to experience their talent several times. As incredible as her voice is, her skill on the fiddle is beyond belief. It is a shame more reactors do not check out her vast catalog.
They made two albums and there are plenty of videos of them performing songs from those albums and Led Zeppelin songs. Fabulous stuff. She has a lot of versatility. She can sing like an angel or belt it out. Great fiddle player too. She's just incredible.@@barsandbarbells2022
Alison could sing the phonebook and it would sound amazing. Yes this is a great version, but Keith Whitley's version brings tears to my eyes. I saw him perform in March of 1988 in Columbus, Ohio about a year before he passed. He was opening up for Hank Williams Jr and I had no idea who Keith was. Needless to say I left that night knowing full well who he was.
If you’re familiar with the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Alison was the singer in the beautiful song “Going Down to the River to Pray”. She is singing softly here, but she also has a very powerful voice when need be. Her collaborations with Robert Plant brings that more forward. A lovely duet to react to would be Please Read the Letter That I Wrote….official video. Written by Plant.
She has a voice of an Angel! She has done a few albums, with none other then Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. Great records! 😎❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ She is a beautiful as her voice!
Besides her work, with her band, Union Station, she is one of the most requested voices for compilation work. She won acclaim for her album, with Robert Plant.
Alison Krauss is amazing. She is the standard that all artists male or female need to achieve and aspire to be. She is honest in her lyrics and true to who she is We don't see a lot of that today
Great singer! She's done great duet work with the likes of Robert plant and others ! One she sang with I definitely recommend Sarah jarosz, run away is a great jumping in point! Although Allison isn't on that song....
Great Reaction BARS & BARBELLS! I was casual listener of Alison Krauss but when she and Robert Plant did a collaboration that was a very pleasant surprise! My favorite Music Video of theirs is ‘Going Gone Gone’ It’s like a mashup of Led Zeppelin and Blue Grass! Very upbeat and cool! Hope you can react to ‘Gone Gone Gone’ really something to behold!🎸🙏🏻
She's a master of bluegrass fiddle improvisation, and she sings like an angel. Check out Alison Krauss covering Sawing on the Strings and the song Shadows.
great reaction phil and sam... alison krauss and union station are superb. she has also done some excellent duets with robert plant. the perfect love song? it was one of my favorites until i heard haley reinhart sing "can't help falling in love" which has since taken top spot. the soft breathiness, the emotional vibrato and the very unique cursive like way she rolls notes from high to low is stunning. it is even frequently described as "what love sounds like" and now has hit double platinum with over 425 million views on spotify. make sure you react to the original release titled "Extra | Can’t Help Falling in Love with Haley Reinhart" and posted by mike ronkoske 😎
Allison is such a talented woman. She is also a wonderful Christian lady. She, and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant (lead singer/ frontman) recorded an album together a few years ago. Rocker Robert Plant sings some "Blue Grass" music, and Allison Kraus, sang some Zeppelin songs. Crazy, but it worked. They both have great respect for all genres of music.
She was 12 when i became aware of her as a musician at The Indiana Fiddlers Gathering. Her violin work was exceptional and her voice 😮❤.... she attended for several years before her career took her time. One of my favorite songs is The Lucky One. Thank you for showcasing her so well.
Great reaction Sam and Phil! I enjoyed hearing my favorite youtube reactors listening to my favorite female vocalist. Lots of people describe her voice as angelic. I saw her live 6 or 7 years ago and will agree with that statement. She originally gained notoriety as a fiddle player before becoming a lead singer. She performed this song with the band Union Station and was with them many years. Several of those Grammy awards came when she and Robert Plant made an album together called Raising Sand back around 2007. They did a 2nd album two or three years ago.
Every time I hear this song I'm reminded of a song with a very similar message, "More Than Words" by Extreme. That would be another great song to react to.
It is her band that did 'Man of Constant Sorrow' , From the 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou ' Movie...She was from a Bluegrass family. (Dan Kaminsky and Union Station)
Beautiful voice! She is known for her instrumentation skills especially the fiddle/violin. She also recorded two grammy winning albums fairly recently with Roger Plant of Led Zeppelin fame.
Alison has a beautiful voice. This is a cover, the original was performed by country legend Keith Whitley. She does a great cover of "Carolina in my Mind" by James Taylor. If you want to watch a tearjerker, check out "Whiskey Lullaby" with Alison and Brad Paisley.
I really love this song, so beautiful!❤ I’m trying to remember, what’s this a crossover onto the pop stations? Why am I thinking it was, I can’t remember? I mean her cover. Anyone? Glad you reacted to this one, a great memory of an awesome song!👍👍
Alison is a terrific bluegrass musician who made a name for herself as a fiddle player at the ripe-old age of 12. One of her biggest hits was a duet with Brad Paisley called Whiskey Lullaby. Keep a box of Kleenex handy. Brad and Alison performed that song (and many others) during a swanky soiree at the White House during the Obama Administration.
A guy by the name of Keith Whitley wrote this song before he died. And of all the friendships among country artists one of the absolute closest relationships that has ever been was between Keith Whitley, Alison Krauss, and Vincr Gill. Vince originally wrote Go Rest High for his brother who passed. But dusted it off and recorded it when Keith Whitley died.
Cool story. If only you didn’t just make it up. Whitley didn’t write the song. When Keith died at 34, Allison was 18. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say a 34 year old married to Lorrie Morgan wasn’t real good friends. Congratulations, Whitley and Gill did know each other and were friends, though to describe them as extremely close is a stretch.
Besides that, Gill started writing it when Whitley died and finished it when his brother died. Feel free to make shit up to make yourself sound knowledgeable, but don’t be surprised when someone call BS.
I would suggest checking out the Keith Whitley version of this song. To hear a male version of this song. Both are amazing versions and were big hits for the respective artists. Another Allison Krauss song that I would recommend is "Jacob's Dream" based on a true story (have tissues handy). Recently Alison and Robert Platt have done some collaboration. An amazingly talented performer. Thanks for your reaction to this one.
Nice Reaction Guy's... Alison has such a soothing voice & The music always sounds really good too. A few more great tune's by her & Union Station that you might enjoy are... Moments Like This, The Lucky One & Now That I Found You.. Thanks again, Cheers !
A lot of people already mentioned her song with Brad Paisley, Whiskey Lullaby. I hope you do cover that and you go for the official video; the acting in that one is just amazingly done and it suits the song extremelly well.
If you find you need a real tearjerker song listen to Alison sing "Ghost In This House", and be sure to get out ALL the hankies. That sweet voice does me in every time.
I was ready to say it was a perfect song. But you two beat me to the punch. It's as good as it gets this side of Heaven. It was so tender, genuine and simple.
When you are the greatest female blue grass singer in the world it doesn't hurt to have the greatest musicians to go with it. She is pitched here to match the song but she can sing whatever music you like. Strange; she didn't even touch the violin she is famous for!
Wow, Alison Krauss on your channel?! You guys rock! I've listened to many different genres from metal to classic, and only a few years ago started to get into Bluegrass (which some relatives of mine, very non-Bluegrassy people who you wouldn't expect to be into it have been for decades). I really hope you do more Bluegrass videos, ones even more typical for that genre. I recommend Chris Thile's stuff like what he's done with Punch Brothers or older stuff from Nickel Creek. He also has great material from his "Live From Here" shows. The Petersens also have nice stuff, mostly their covers are nice. And of course Jack White has some bluegrass stuff and bluegrass-adjacent stuff.
Originally recorded by Keith Whitley in 1988 it was a #1 Country hit for him. Recorded by Alison Krauss in 1995. It was her first top 10 single also as a country song. She is amazing and can really tear up the fiddle. Her musicianship is underrated .
She is one of the most awarded Grammy winners of all time.
@McDevittMike she deserved them all but they were for vocals. Her playing doesn't get enough respect imho.
“Old Mr. Webster could never define what’s being said between your heart and mine.”
Timeless lyrics by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz!
Love Paul Overstreet
Loved that!
She started as a straight up bluegrass artist which is where many of the Grammy’s came from. Her band members, Union Station, are known as some of the top players in the Nashville music scene
I saw them live in a small venue on Cape Cod. That was years ago and I still get goosebumps remembering that show. They're that good.
Actually, most of her wins are in the country category.
"Whiskey Lullaby" with Brad Paisley is a must.
Wanted to say the same thing, but I KNEW that someone had to have beat me to the punch. Before you watch it, you should know a few things. The voice of an angel. She is amazing! In addition to being a wonderful singer, she is an accomplished musician. Great reaction!
Totally agreed! Thank you!
Great reaction! Any duet with her is simply amazing: “Whiskey Lullaby” with Brad Paisley and “The Boxer” with Shawn Colvin at the Kennedy Center Honors as a tribute to Paul Simon are the first two that come to mind.

My favorite version of this song. Thank you for covering it. I don't know the number of Grammys she has but I'm sure she deserves many more.
27 last I knew of !!
Krauss is a top GRAMMY winner of all time with 27 wins, making her the female artist with the most GRAMMY wins.
She was number one, but Beyonce passed her up a few years ago.
I love Alison’s voice. Soft and sweet but also very strong at the same time. Check out Ghost In This House
Here's a really beautiful live performance of "Ghost in This House":

A couple bonus live performances from her that I particularly like:
"Allison Krauss & Jerry Douglas - Carolina In My Mind [HD]" - ua-cam.com/video/DqDulYRi1dM/v-deo.html
"Alison Krauss Vince Gill Tryin' to get over you" - ua-cam.com/video/y6uXmjquWkA/v-deo.html

Bluegrass actually.

She’s an amazing artist.
The gentleman in the blue shirt, Dan Tyminski, was George Clooney's singing voice in the movie " O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
I've been fortunate to see AKUS live 5 times. They are absolute national treasures. Top of their profession.
The voice of an angel..Alison Krauss "Ghost In This House" ❤
My son worked as a roadie for a while and he worked one of her shows...he told me: Mom when see sang it completely FILLED the auditorium...he said it's one of the most powerful voices he's ever heard... I would tend to agree!
no autotune or pitch correction needed when Alison sings.Gold standard .

Alison Kraus and Union Station are absolutely amazing. 😎
Her and Robert Plant, yes, The Robert Plant, have several songs together. Magic 😊
What?! Interesting 🧐

Yes, they’ve actually toured together! 💖
I have multiple Alison Krause cds. Love her
Alison has the voice of an Angel and definitely has many Grammy awards, she sings a few covers but ha many original songs
She's has the most soft powerful voice
That I have ever heard
Everytime I hear this song it makes my heart skip a beat

I love what she has done with Robert Plant.
To me the song is summed up as actions speak louder than words.
The song is beautiful but noone sings it better than Alison Krause!
My favorite song of hers is a heartbreaker. Bring a tissue. "Jacob's Dream".
A great story telling song, but it is a heartbreaker.
She has a voice of an Angel! She has done a few albums, with none other then Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. Great records! 😎❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ She is a beautiful as her voice!
This is easily one of my top 10 favorite songs ever.

Alison is equally famous for playing the fiddle.

Whiskey Lullaby is a great song by her
I love her cover of "Baby , Now That I Found You"
Live !
You should see her live (Union Station). Her vocals live are exactly the same. Pure talent.
I saw her last year on her tour with Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant. It was amazing.
Her band is also incredibly talented,, Check out Alison Krauss & Union Station "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow"
The band, Union Station, kind of adopted Alison when at 12 or 13 yrs. Old ,she did this song, and all involved careers sky rocketed .
My wedding song is…I will by her…so great
She gave that killer performance and softly turned and walked off the stage ❤❤
My favorite version of this song, her voice is just amazing
My favorite female country singer. Suggest Whiskey Lullaby. 💯🔥
One of the best covers ive ever heard, its a cover of a Keith Whitley song, and i believe this was a tribute album.
Listen to the song she sings, ghost in this house, one of the best songs ever. The song is just mesmerizing!
She's a master of bluegrass fiddle improvisation, and she sings like an angel. Check out Alison Krauss covering Sawing on the Strings and the song Shadows.
Now you must give a listen to Alison singing Down by the River To Pray from the move soundtrack of "Oh Brother Where Art Thou".

"Whiskey Lullaby by allison and brad pasley good song
Imagine the live show of Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. She is also an amazing multi instrumentalist and is amazing on the fiddle.
The Lucky One is another fire song you should check out 😊 from her.
I love her! Such an angelic voice. Thank you for playing this✌️
AK & Union Stations, "Forget About It", "Broadway", & instrumental "We Hide & Seek" are worth a listen ..amount many others. Brilliant band

Shes won many awards
Shes Amazing
How is glad to see you guys. Thank you❤😊
The guy playing the acoustic guitar they showed at the very beginning is her husband, and the name of their band is Union Station.
The man playing the guitar is Dan Tyminski and is best known for the hit “Man of constant sorrow” and he is not married to Alli
Alison is a songbird. Listen to her with Robert Plant from Led Zepplin. Her band is called Union Station.
Allison Krause has done a few collaberations with Robert Plant from Led Zepplin.
Fun fact: Allison is one of the few singers with perfect pitch...
I believe Allison released this recording back in 1994. She has been wowing bluegrass fans for many years. This is one of her best.
It is her band that did 'Man of Constant Sorrow' , From the 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou ' Movie...She was from a Bluegrass family. (Dan Kaminsky and Union Station)
I know her mainly as a Bluegrass artist, great ultra talent
Beautiful voice! She is known for her instrumentation skills especially the fiddle/violin. She also recorded two grammy winning albums fairly recently with Roger Plant of Led Zeppelin fame.
Shes got such a beautiful voice. I love her songs❤
You have absolutely GOTTA do Allison and Union Station live, doing
Baby, Now That I Found You.
You'll see her mastering her fiddle as well.
A powerful song in more ways than one. The extra "oomph" during the outro hits hard. Lovely reaction, y'all.
I really love this song, so beautiful!❤ I’m trying to remember, what’s this a crossover onto the pop stations? Why am I thinking it was, I can’t remember? I mean her cover. Anyone?
Glad you reacted to this one, a great memory of an awesome song!👍👍
Song is good for the first dance at a wedding reception.
When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I used to sing this song to my belly 🥰
Alison is a terrific bluegrass musician who made a name for herself as a fiddle player at the ripe-old age of 12. One of her biggest hits was a duet with Brad Paisley called Whiskey Lullaby. OH, oh oh!! Alison Krauss "Ghost In This House"! Please, please, please!
Your the lucky one... is my favorite song of her
My favorite Alison song! Thanks!
She was young when this was recorded. I think her voice has matured a little since then. Live versions with Union Station are great.
My wife and i danced to this song at our wedding 27 years ago ❤

Should listen to her haunting version of 'When the Levee breaks' with Robert Plant (from Led Zeppelin)
A lot of people already mentioned her song with Brad Paisley, Whiskey Lullaby. I hope you do cover that and you go for the official video; the acting in that one is just amazingly done and it suits the song extremelly well.
You dropped this 4 months ago. I don't know why I'm just seeing it tonight. Great reaction.
You should check some of the videos of her and Robert Plant
If you find you need a real tearjerker song listen to Alison sing "Ghost In This House", and be sure to get out ALL the hankies. That sweet voice does me in every time.
