Listening to Alison is like listening to an angel sing. She could sing the dictionary and
make you wanting to hear her sing the phone book.
The phone book is a way better song than the dictionary. In my honest opinion! I’m just being honest here.
Alison Krauss is releasing her 2nd Album with Robert Plant in November! Check it out!
She gets overlooked by a lot of people because she doesn't have a "powerhouse" voice, but I think her voice is one of the most pure and emotive in the business.
FOESHOW
@@albertpringle4918 She actually does have a powerhouse voice. Rarely heard, because it's not her style. She should show it off more.
She's done collaborations with a ton of people, and they always sound amazing. She sounds so good in harmony with other singers.
Listen to 70s female rock band heart, performing "these dreams" from night at sky church.. It's on UA-cam.. They bring Alison out to sing, and being an Ann and Nancy Wilson song, she pretty much has to belt the chorus to fit the style... And she gets plenty loud. The amazing thing is she doesn't strain at all to belt like that, and still keeps her amazing pitch control effortlessly.
@@blackhawks81H Thanks, I'll have to check that out!
Voice of an angel. Also she is a world class fiddle player.
A living legend
She and Emmie Lou Harris have the purest and angelic voices.
Damn skippy!
AND the late great Karen Carpenter.
Don't ever apologize for having a heart and soul baby girl.
Factoid:
While many may not have heard of her, she has more Grammy’s than ANY female recording artist ever with 27!
Whitney, Mariah, Beyoncé... anyone.
That is an astounding achievement. I did not know that, so thanks for that.
Woah. Did not know that and yet I've listened to a bunch of her songs
She has mentored singers and sing writers across several genes for decades now.
I cannot imagine not knowing who Alison Krauss is.
Marc Yoder she started out as a fiddle player
My daughter and Alison were classmates in Elementary and Middle School. At that time Alison was an award winning fiddle player. I saw her perform for school concerts. Her brother Victor is an accomplished standup bass player, who plays in Lyle Lovetts’ band.
Angel singing and reacting
As much as I feel like Allison Krauss is what I imagine angels in heaven sound like, Keith Whitley crushed this song first.
Chip Whitley Keith was a gem!
The duo they put together with Keith Whitley and Allison Krause is Amazing
@@lavondabland3179 Probably my favorite remix of a song ever
Yes he did. And was gone too soon as well.
Agreed! Keith Whitley was amazing and gone way too soon, rest in peace K.W.
Allison not only has perfect pitch, she is also a virtuoso violinist🎶.👍🏼
She was national violin champion as an early teenager, before she even started Union Station.
I'd call her a world class fiddle player 😉
@@rbf7099 That too!🎻🎶
I think she performed at the White House /2014/ and played the guitar.
You were so genuinely moved and I loved that you couldn’t take your eyes off of it. You are a sweetheart at heart! ❤️🙏🏻
Allison Krauss is AMAZING; never gets enough credits for her AMAZING voice ❤
She's won 27 Grammy awards with 44 nominations
That was the record for a female artist at the time. May still be, not sure if anyone has broken it since. But yeah, more Grammys than any other females artist.
@@joepegel She still holds the record.
Winning over 50% of her nominations. Who does that?
Stalker! Lmao
@@joepegel there's only maybe 3 or 4 artists overall that have won more Grammys than her.
As a black woman, I've loved her voice for a long time.
My mother adored Patsy Cline's voice because she too had perfect pitch. You should react to the Country Queen, Patsy Cline.
Allison Krauss has a beautifully angelic voice, but even she can't touch the emotion in Patsy Cline's singing. The heartache Patsy expressed (Sweet Dreams, Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, She's Got You...) just tugs at you when you hear her. I had such high hopes for Leann Rimes when she came out with Blue, which I believe was written for Patsy, but I think Leann kind of went the way of personal drama over production.
Why does it matter what colour your skin is?
@@popland1977
Because of a long history concerning who liked her kind of music. You can't comprehend since you did not have the experience. Sorry, not sorry.
@@oregonchick76 LeAnn shot her career in the foot when she had her affair with her current husband. Breaking up two marriages. Then kept a very public war going on between his exwife, the Mother of his children. I think she thought Brandi would disappear from public view like her husband. She didn't know Brandi wasn't the kind of woman to lie down and be a carpet. She came out swinging back at the home wrecking Leann.
@@HazelJuanitaMillanHoffman Didn't LeAnn sue her dad over mismanagement of her money, or something like that? I recall Brad Paisley singing a song about how people are suing mom n dad, and I'm so much cooler online. I think it was a slam on LeAnn and the newer hollywood and music industry personalities.
The original song was done by the late Keith Whitley, husband of Country Hall of Famer Lorie Morgan. Whitley was 34 and a new father when he died. He actually did this song at one point with a young Kraus before he died in 1989. Keith Whitley was a brilliant musician, unfortunately, alcohol poisoning cut his life short. I would recommend him any day as his voice and songs were amazing
I've seen her and Union Station twice and would drop everything for a 3rd Round. She is awesome and no band is tighter than Union Station. Not even Steely Dan, my gold standard.
AKUS is my favorite all time ever band
@People of China live free and destroy the CCP No argument here. Both tipper top.
That's a bold statement about Steely Dan, but I'm not gonna disagree...
Allison Krauss started off in bluegrass; "When you say nothing at all" was written by Keith Whitely for his wife Lauri Morgan.
Not trying to be a dick here but it was actually written by Country songwriters Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz, who have written or co-written songs for numerous other Country acts.
Sean Scanlon that has to be the most respectful and polite disagreement I have ever read on UA-cam. Congratulations on being a real and decent human being online. Wait, you are like a unicorn! 😊👍🏼
But you were correct in saying it was recorded first by Keith Whitley for his wife Lorrie Morgan.
@@alohalivin556 Thank you for saying that and it was a kind thing to say.
I'm just aware that with the written word you can't always get the tone like you can when it's spoken and so when some people make what is a genuine mistake, others sometimes feel the need to be abusive towards them when pointing out their error, rather than just doing so in a normal way.
Nobody will usually say something they know to be wrong so are obviously doing it unknowingly, but it's just a bit of a bugbear of mine that many songwriters don't get the credit for their work.
Song was written by Paul Overstreet. Kieth Whitley was the first one to sing it.
My dear, you are a romantic at heart. Welcome to country music.
I suggested Patsy Cline for review.
Blue Grass... not country, there's a difference!
Well Allison certainly does blue Grass, this particular song was country through and through.
@@DestinationsChronicles ehh, they're like stepbrothers of one another
God I wish I could be the man to sing this to her
Sushi, Krauss rhymes with house. She is an incredible talent as a singer and as a fiddle player. I could literally listen to her sing anything. I don't know what heaven looks like, but I know what it sounds like.
She has the voice of an Angel! I was fortunate to have set up tents for her at the Kentucky Horse Park, in the mid 90's. The best female vocalist, of any genre!
Great reaction Allison can really make you feel a song.
Try Brad Paisley and Allison Krause Whiskey Lullaby
Thanks Chris will add this!
Make sure its the music video, it will hit better that way!
@@dustinwalker4348 true I should have said that
Do the actual music video
@@TOOSUSHI You should definitely do Whiskey Lullaby but it's a trap - they're trying to make you ugly cry on camera :-)
When angels sing, they sound like Alison Krauss
Angels want to sound like Alison Krauss when they grow up.
So glad you discovered this gem! Her voice truly makes me weep. Anything by her and her band will not disappoint.❤️
I love this song, Alison's voice and the way you respond to music that touches your heart. Beautiful!
It was also my first time ever hearing Alison Krauss "When You Say Nothing At All". It touched my heart. I could not hold back my tears
Alison krauss is an absolute angel when she sings. Alot of her songs like this. This song was originally done by keith whitley who died very young from alcoholism
Yes, it’s a beautiful song and her voice is just right for the song. Sweet soft and gentle, it captures your attention she has a unique voice.
Our wedding song back in 1996 , almost 25 years ago! And my wife's ring tone when she call's me on my cell!
I was just thinking this song should be someones wedding song. May I wish you a Happy Anniversary, whenever it is.💕
@@christinetarquin3773 May 25 1996 to present. Thank you for the kind words.
I got one for you, "I'm just a ghost in this house"; Allison's voice is so pure, it can make your ears ring.
That song is a killer!!!
Allison has the voice of an angel and touches the heart with her music.
That song is what true, honest, and abiding love is. No words are needed. No grand gestures. Just simple, everyday acts that show it without question.
I always think that when an angel hears her singing, they get jealous.
Ms Krauss is a National Treasure. She is a voice from Heaven.
The country song that always makes me cry is Patti Loveless’ “How Can I Help You to Say Goodbye.”
Great song!
Was played at my mom's funeral. Love the song, but I too cry ever time.
My mom just died in october and that song was on repeat for awhile. One of her favorites and something that perfectly captures the moment
That song really tugs at your heart
Omg YES!!!!!!!!!
I love watching your reactions. Especially when you "discover" artists that you obviously haven't heard of. Allison Krauss is probably the most famous Bluegrass singer of all time and has won more Grammy's than any other female artist in ANY genre. (Someone mentioned that below.)
People have described her voice as angelic. I hope you do some more reactions on her other songs. I recommend "Let me touch you for a while" or "The lucky one."
Do listen to the old ones as well.she vows waaaaayy back.listen to these albums:I got that old feeling,Too late to cry,Two highways,Alison Krauss with the Cox Family,Every time you say goodbye,So long,so wrong. Start with those albums.when you listen to anything on this woman you are listening directly to an Angel.she is the best...
More than any performer ever. I don't count Beyonce' because thats not real music.
This song,, " When you say nothing at all" was originally done by country singer Keith Whitley. Check it out, he had an amazing voice
Alison Kraus actually originally covered the song as a tribute to Keith Whitley after his death, then it exploded on the charts.
Correct
@@wtk6069 As well it should have. They are both amazing performances.
All of Keith's songs are way more emotional to me after learning about his life.
Bear Kobb you need to hear the duet by Alison and Whitley
her singing is amazing. Saw her years ago, and i would have been embarrassed if so many people around me werent choked up too. Song
just grabs you
Wow, another Country. You keep going Country and I’m subbin. I am hooked on Reactors because I love watching new discoveries. Original artist was Keith Whitley (RIP). His voice was haunting!
Same here! I love seeing if the reactor feels what I feel when they hear a song I love ❤️
Keith Whitley was AMAZING! He left us way too soon. I'm from the same area that he grew up in...know several of his family members that still live around there. Such a sad story.
Me too. More country, subbing too. Brad Paisley, Keith Whitley, Randy Travis
Yes it was.
Allison's voice always gives me shivers, it is so crisp and clear. Truly an Angel's voice.
I was a war fighter for 24 years, retired military. I've seen more than anyone should have to. This singer and this song has been bringing tears to my eyes for over 20 years... Great reaction video!
Brooks and Dunn” believe” 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes I agree...you need to listen to Brooks and Dunn "Believe"! You think you got emotional on this song, Brooks and Dunn knocks it out if the park with "Believe". This is not to discredit Alison Krauss because she is a fantastic singer that I have loved for many years, I even sing her songs at karaoke!
My fav!
Yeah, Allison Krauss has such a BEAUTIFUL VOICE!!!! She doesn't get enough credit.
Correct because she doesn't jump around and trying to look sexy like most women today
I agree I'm 36 I grew up listen to her and older country still do
She does with my family.
The people who know her give her enough; there's just not enough of those people.
27 Grammys...I think she has been recognized. Alison is perfection
She sounds exactly the same in person as she does on her videos. Her voice is amazing. The first time I ever saw her play was at a bluegrass festival in North Carolina. I was 14 and she was 17. And I thought I was hearing an Angel singing.
Allison Krauss was really popular when I left home and struck out on my own. Her CDs helped me relax when I missed my family - just closed My eyes and let that angelic voice carry me away...
they say she has the voice of an angel,,,and I agree
This is a cover. The song was originally a Keith Whitley song. Her voice, however, was made for this song. It was a pleasure watching your reaction to it.
Your reaction is so pure and authentic. The love spoken without words is so powerful.
I first saw her live when she was only 14 years old, and she had that beautiful, haunting voice. She's an incredible musician as well and her talent is amazing.
I can't think of another singer who has the effortless perfect pitch that Allison has.
Tori Amos, Linda Perry, Ann Wilson, Annie Lennox, Pat Benatar, Janis Joplin, and there are others. They may not all have perfect pitch but man can they sing. Johnette Napolitano is really good too, great in fact.
Also showing how out of touch Rolling Stone magazine is, she was not included in the 100 greatest vocalists list 🤦♂️
Chad Monroe
I believe because she is in a category of her own.
Sweetie, they put Bob Dylan higher than Freddy Mercury! And Curt Cobain (great songwriter but the man was not "greatest singers of our time" material) was on the list but not Ella Fitzgerald, Barbara Streisand, Amy Winehouse, or Donna Summer. I'm calling bullshit on that whole damn list.
@@RivkahSong I agree.
@@RivkahSong You call it, honey! Lmbo!
That's why I quit reading Rolling Stone 20 years ago. They're so out of touch. Screw them.
She has the voice of an angel...she could sing the phone book and make it sound good!
Alison has the voice of an angle. Just wonderful ! You have to listen to her other tunes .....more magic . Go Alison Go ❤️
It’s pronounced like “house” but with a ‘kr’ at the start, like “krouse”
Every time I think of her last name, I think of the word "kraut," like sour kraut. Lol
Guts - yeah, me too!!
Guts that’s sauerkraut
Her last name is German so yes, thinking Kraut and KRAUSS pronounced alike is correct.
@@resarm5007 I was about to say the same thing.
You need to give Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton's "When I Get Where I'm Going." They sing to your soul.
I have always liked Alison Krauss’ Voice plus she’s a classy woman. I like how you get so emotional listening to songs like hers..
I’ve listened to different versions of this song many times over the years and it never fails to make me tear up. I’ve sung it to my wife for close to 30 years.
She is amazing. I’m only annoyed that I only heard her for the first time a couple of years ago. Perfect female voice and that is a particularly ‘lovely’ song. I think your reaction and response were spot on too.
Don't worry everyone has that reaction. I'm a big burly construction worker and it's still so good it hurts
Alison’s voice is A little taste of Heaven, second only to her fiddle playing. Have seen her in concert twice and she sounds just as beautiful in person.
she had a few albums with Robert Plant, yes the guy who wrote "stairway to heaven", and he left it all to hang and sing with her. thats how good she is.
She could sing from a dictionary and it would be wonderful.
Funnily enough, she was going to sing from Webster’s dictionary but, as she says in the song, “...poor Mr Webster could never define, what’s being said between your heart and mine...”
I have heard this song one billion times, but watching you react to listening to it for the first time made me cry..oh my goodness..💗
Her voice is like a angel 😇
My wife and I used to play this song on our guitars. I loved the way she sang in her own style. Baby I miss you but know you are entertaining the angels.😇
This was my wife and I favorite song when she lost her voice due to cancer
I love this version..but I’ll argue anyone that Keith’s the best. 💯
who's Keith? Keith Urban?

Allison has one of the prettiest voices of all time. She was actually discovered because of her fiddle playing and her musicianship by Vince gill. The original version of that song was done by Keith Whitley and equally amazing
She does a great job with this song, but you need to listen to the Keith Whitley version.
Original.* 😁
I agree!
Roy Frady love Keith Whitley’s version. ❤️
For real
She's is good, but this, with his voice, is amazing!
Alison Krauss has won more Grammys than any other female artist. Her start was in bluegrass music and she moved right in to country music. She recorded this song as part of the tribute album to the late Keith Whitley. It turned out to be a hit for her. She has the perfect voice. Last I heard it was 37 Grammys.
Alison Krauss (rhymes with house) is one of my favorite singers. My favorite of her recordings is "A Living Prayer." Her clear, clean, lyrical voice touches the heart with her reverence when she sings it.
I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned it, but Alison is the top female Grammy winner of all time, she’s been on my playlist since I got my first iPod back when they came out, and I was listening to her CD’s long before that. Love her.
Love this reaction! Such an amazing song, she's so talented. She and Brad Paisley did another tear jerker called Whiskey Lullaby, and it's beyond amazing but sad.
I'm requesting a song probably no one else knows of, but it's lovey and sweet and awesome. "Shotgun" by Sean McConnell and Audra Mae 💜🤘
*""ALISON KRAUSE'S VOICE IS INCREDIBLE, ""THE FREQUENCY OF HER VOCALOPTIC RANGE IS UNMATCHED FARBEYOND ANYTHING OR ANY VOCALIST THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD""!!!!!!!!!!!!*
AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!yea but ,your right.
Thank you for appreciating Alison Krauss. She has an amazing voice and is an award winning fiddle player too. Alison Krauss and Union Station are the best band. Please watch the Cohen Bros film "Oh Brother, Where art thou." Dan Tyminski (guitarist from Union Station) is George Clooney's singing voice - Man of Constant Sorrow. All of their music is wonderful.
Allison Krause has the voice of a song bird! Your missing alot if you don't listen to 90's country music. I never get tired of listening to her.
Our girl plays a pretty mean fiddle too.
This was a cover of Keith Whitley, from a tribute album released after his death.
Allison did it first in 1995. I still remember where I was (driving down a country road) when I heard it the first time. With her Lyric soprano voice, it seemed like an angel was singing.
Alison has won more Grammy's than any other singer in history...and she is not very old. Hopefully decades more to come from her!
Listen to her and Union Station, sing "I'm just a ghost in this house".
Shenandoahs is bettrr

No it should be the original singer Shenandoah
"oh mr. webster could never define what's being said between your heart and mine" is kinda the best lyric ive ever heard

This was one of the songs in my wedding back in 1996. I lost my wife to a drunk driver back in 2015 and this song crushes me everytime.
This is one of my favorite songs ever. I had a friend pass away at 21 of brain cancer and they played this at her funeral. It's her song now. 💔
Diamond Rio "one more day" and Diamond Rio "I believe".
Nick Gaugler you play hardball, don’t you? I’m a hardened, 56-year-old Army vet and those songs make ME cry!
AGREED!!!!
I would love to see you react to Tim McGraw's Don't Take The Girl. A very touching song, warning it's a tear-jerker.
That song had me crying the first time I heard it.
She'll be bawling her eyes out
So, I am not the only one who cries while listening to amazing songs. Thank you.
So, idk if the tears were real or not...but mine were. This song was my gf's favorite. She died in Oct of 2018. After the funeral and all the stuff was over, I listened to this song from about 2:00 a.m. until the sunlight came streaming in my window... over and over. This is the first time I have listened to it since then. I had the privilege of introducing her to Billy Joel, which still amazes me because music really was her life. She was one of the rare people that would listen to a song with her whole heart. The first song of his that I played her was "The Stranger"...and it really hit home with her. Now, I can do Billy Joel all night so I told her that I was going to make her cry with the next one. She said, "Oh, no. I don't want to cry", and I said, "No. Don't worry. It'll be a good cry". Then I played her my favorite love song, "You're My Home" by Billy Joel. If you decide to listen to it, make sure it's the studio version. Anyway, if you like female vocalists...I mean, you know...women you can truly sing like angels... try Karen Carpenter (For All We Know, We've Only Just Begun, Yesterday Once More), Nanci Griffith (Love at the Five and Dime...or the whole One Fair Summer Evening album), or maybe Laura Nyro... whose version of Eli's Comin' has got to be one the most high energy songs every recorded.
It's rare to find someone who will let the music touch their heart... their soul... and you know it does because the emotion will not... cannot... be contained. Jennifer was like that. Maybe you are, too.
Allison Krause could sing the menu at a restaurant and I would buy the album!
Leanne Rimes singing How Do I Live, im sure you would like that
The vocals, instrumentals and lyrics are perfect. I love it when it takes like three seconds to see why people insist that you have to hear this song.
This is the most beautiful reaction I've been privileged to witness. Thank You!
