  • Your favorite mechanic, Edd China from Wheeler Dealers, is back with what we hope will be a new program series. In Edd China’s Garage Revival, Edd will work with car owners, whose restoration projects have got the better of them, to get their plans back on track. In this pilot episode, Edd travels to Norway to get a Golf MK1 GTI back where it belongs - on the road.
Thank you for watching! Please share, subscribe and like!

I agree dude. It would have been equally exciting if there was a camera crew at his home, documenting how stoked he was while waiting for Edd to arrive. We don't need the typical TV fake suspense.

@Nicholas Barnes He's not looking at the camera because Edd is simply taking in the size of the building - it's huge! This is "telling a part of the story" as any good film will do.

When Edd parted ways with Wheeler Dealers (WD's) he said in a YT video on his own channel that his leaving was because the revamped version of WD's wasn't going in a direction he felt comfy with but wished the show, Mike and the mechanic replacing him all the best, a gentleman at his best. Edd also said he hoped to do a show that was more about the mechanics and less about the (money/politics/commercial) business aspects of mechanics. Edd, you and your production team have in episode one delivered completely, delivering what many of us had hoped we would see with you as the host. In this episode we saw what could be done in a less than equipped work shop, you got to show us many hints and tips, the trouble you went to ensuring the vehicle was legal in the owners country, it was a delight to see you helping others out with your skills when matters in their own life's have taken more time than they could dedicate to their projects. Well done everyone... I'm thrilled to see that what you wanted has made it into production, and good luck to all with the future episodes.

So glad to see Edd back in action. That headliner job is a perfect example of why Edd's instruction is so beneficial: When you look at a headliner installation job, it is so easy to become overwhelmed. But, when Edd just lays it out step by step, it all becomes so less daunting.
Keep up the good work Edd! I hope to see many more episodes!

    • @strtngfrsh

That's also why he's not syndicated. They don't want someone to give step by step instructions. They want to gloss over a project, show a detail here and there and get some shots with sparks flying from a grinder. That way the viewers are interested enough to spend some cash and haven't learned much. That's the reason Ed left WD..

Great to see a program focussed on the practical aspect of working on the mechanics and helping someone get an abandoned project back on the road. I'm not going to knock Mike B or the Wheeler Dealers format; they both have their place, but I much prefer this sort of format where there is more detail of how things are done, and less attention to the light entertainment aspect. Alexander
Everything Mike said was cringeworthy nonsense. He always had to be touching the car when he was in the shop which was just infuriating. A brand new paint job sometimes and he's leaning on it and rubbing it, putting swirls in the paint.
It was fun to make fun of him, but that's about it. All the buying and selling shit was sooo painfully scripted. The 'buyers' walking around the car touching random parts like the mirrors and tires and pretending to check things was just the most embarrassingly fake thing I had ever seen. The prices were obviously agreed upon beforehand. They should have cut out the buying and selling part and put more emphasis on what they did to the car and research that went into restoring it. Then just give the final number of what they sold it for, rather than pretending to haggle.

    • @lexburen5932

Yes indeed. I was always forwarding ahead to get to the Edd China's part. I think that eventually, Mike got jealous....
Now he has a decent enough mechanic but I don't care, Edd China was the one I wanted to see.
The way you explain things in layman's terms and take us through every step is really far away from the new wheeler dealer's mechanic, I guess that's Mikes's fault again.

Mike Brewer did bring something to the show though, at least in the early years. There was lots of tips on where to look for cars, and what to look for when buying them.
Things sort of went pear-shaped when the cars got more and more expensive, and we saw less and less real tinkering. Outsourcing is all well and good, but we want to see Edd work his magic :D

This was so good! Still can’t believe WD went in a different direction and why they would change the format. 75% of the show was all about Ed in the garage showing us top tips and how things work. Absolutely love WD but can’t watch a single episode now Ed’s not in the show. I really hope more of these will be made one day! Thank you Ed your a legend !

I clicked this video at the begining because of "China's Garage" which makes me think it is a revival program for china's GTI!! I'm a 73yr old (gulp!) Design Engineer who, until recently, has maintained at least two OLD cars through my married life (that's why she married me! :) and started with motorbikes from 15yrs and then to cars from late teenage yrs until my freedom came to an end!
I LOVED the old series but had no time for that 'full of himself,' know-nothing salesman (He just confirmed what I think about salesman and about car salesmen in particular.... often talent-less, shallow people who, due to lack of ability, are forced to bullshit others in order to make a living). It raised my blood pressure when the 'know-nothing' salesman tried to set himself above Edd as the important/superior one and tried to infer that Edd kind of worked for him. Grrrrr. The best you can say for the salesman was that he acted as a foil for Edd.
Yet it was obvious to all that it was Edd who was the REAL man with the REAL talent (engineering AND personality wise) who had more knowledge and common sense in his little finger than the salesman had in his entire body. I loved to see how he went about jobs, often learning something new and also comparing and sometimes verifying what I've done over the years using Haynes manuals.....before the Internet and UA-cam. I love UA-cam for all its knowledge and information) and use UA-cam to help with the smaller jobs I still do on the ridiculously 'Ill-designed for maintenance' modern cars.
I'm so very pleased that I chanced on this video and the fact that Edd had been given a platform to display his skills, alongside his personable character.
It's not as convenient as recording it on SKY and I DO wish it reverted to SKY as I dislike this increasing need to spend money on a variety of content providers....AND having to muck about logging onto various systems to get what you want....at least YT is easy and familiar in that regard. Time will tell if I will have the patience to sit through the adverts...not being able to fast-forward through them. Oh for the days when there were just one or two TV channels!!! Still, I'll have to get used to it until the revolution (or my demise) arrives!!! :)
I wish Edd ALL possible luck with this new venture.... Onwards and Upwards Edd!!! Some good tips in this....like using a ratchet strap to turn the hoist straps into a leveller!!....Excellent!!!
    NoAxe
PS. I bumped into a lady, behind the counter at a local car paint retailer, who claimed to have known Edd....she had nothing but good to say about him....and I wasn't surprised! :)

Normally there would be some trading and whatnot, instead: «these parts are standard and easy to come by; lets start putting them on the car.»; which was very refreshing.
