The worst thing was bad mouthing Ed China when he left. Ed kept it classy and private. There is a video of Mike bad mouthing Ed at an American car show so not cool...
Ed China came across as a thoroughly likable character with sound, extensive knowledge of his trade, Brewer came across as a 'wide-boy' character, typical of a second-hand car dealer.. not someone I would trust instinctively, the dynamic between the two was not helped by the impression that Brewer simply took a trip somewhere, bought a vehicle and then left Ed China to tackle all the problems. These are only superficial prejudices but the effect can be considerable.. It's likely that with the cultural differences between the UK and US Brewer's perceived character would be less of a hindrance in America.
I used to work for a huge classic car parts business. Mike Brewer was a paid celebrity promotor for the company. Whenever he came into the office, he just blanked everyone, walked around as if he owned the place, and even blatantly let his dog run around pissing up the desks. You realise it was a very popular TV show made for commercial television where they got paid by advertisers so made massive profits of each show? To think they made losses is laughable, Wether those profits were shared properly is the real question here
Fair to say throughout the partnership of Edd and the other felahhh, my bet is 90% tuned in to watch Edd on the tools not the "car salesman" blagging the cars.

Everyone seems to forget that Mike CREATED Wheeler Dealers and was the brains behind the show , Ed decided to leave the show of his own accord and wasn't forced out .
I thought the original Britain based series worked well as it gave most time to Edd's repair work. When the Americans took over it was getting more ' so we needed a new gearbox, here is one I bought and put in earlier '.
It is simple. We only watched the show cos of Ed China. Brewer was just seen as a used car salesman, nothing more. After China left, so did we..................

Miker Brewer was half of what made the original Wheeler Dealers fun to watch. The other half was obviously Edd. But is the combination of the two, and their distinct personalities and respective talents that made it enjoyable. This show was about being able to buy low, do value added work, and sell high. Without "buy low" there would be no show, and without Mike, there would have been no buying low. Edd didn't have it in him to haggle, and haggle someone must, if was to work as a concept. The combination of Mike's outgoing personality and Edd's more sedate everyman approach made the pair a formidable team. The fact that Mike might have slagged Edd is not my concern, I don't know what was going on behind the curtain. I just remember a very entertaining automotive show.
I'm an admitted gearhead, so I have to say that, like my attitude about Hollywood and entertainment in general, I couldn't care less about "celebrities" Mike Brewer, Edd China, "Elvis" Priestly or Ant Ansted, whether they get along, their egos or disagreements. I watch the show to see how the cars (and the occasional truck) are repaired and prepped for resale; I've been watching it for years and still do.
The show isn't about fixing a car yourself, but watching a mechanic rebuilding a scrap car with the aid of the factory. Everyone can be a Wheeler Dealer and buy cheap cars with problems if you have a complete factory to back you up with materials and know-how.
clickbait title and bs content. you even explain in your own words they all left for personal reasons, not because of mike. killed the whole reason for the video there and then.

I always thought the earlier episode ms with edd was the best there was always more content fixing the cars, but the newer ones with ant and elvis they aren't anywhere near as good
You are right! That is why Edd China left. Thank god some has brains too. Edd did not like the way WD was going in the GOOD' OL' US of A. So he stuck to his principles and left the show.
I agree, I started struggling continuing to watch the series when it went to the US, the Yanks had to make it for an American audience by dumbing it down. I can't believe though that the Yanks are that dumb and have the attentions span of ants as the producers seem to think that's what they're like :P I started watching again when they got a new mechanic, Elvis and are back in the UK.
Most of the restored cars and their ‘profits’ are completely phoney. The costs are based on ‘hobby’ projects, never including the costs of real overheads, ie rent of garages, costs of utilities, taxes, acquisition of tools and machines, instead just cost of vehicle, materials used and a notional ‘man hours’ expended. Mechanics and body specialists could be as high as over £100 per hour per skill, so the dirty profit figures are completely fake……it’s entertainment is genuine but I prefer the more emotionally engaging ‘Car SOS’ where costs are less relevant than the finished project, often on hopelessly deteriorated cars, but where there is a deserving owner….the ‘reveal’ is often a tear jerker…….
Yes, very true. Labor costs are not included or are the other costs you mentioned. The numbers do not add up, the sale prices do not reflect the time, labor, overhead, involved in getting the cars running.
@@mikenic7793I always thought that the eventual ‘haggle’ with the purchaser was a total fix. Who wouldn’t love the chance to buy any of the cars fixed up so expertly by Edd at a bargain price for hardly any mark-up. I felt it was an insult to Edd. Mike seemed so unaware of this, being so arrogant.
Loved Wheeler Dealers. I'm tall, and was amazed how Ed fit his hands in some small places. Ed worked so hard, sometimes doing all-nighters to meet the show's deadline. Then Mike would sell it for his original cost and parts, getting very little for Ed's labor. Just thought Ed was worth more.
I find Mike a little too arrogant for my liking. I usually record the show and fast forward to the interesting bits. Has anyone else noticed how he no longer ‘races’ his co hosts? Ed was not very rapid behind the wheel, so Mike enjoyed showing him up. Unlike Elvis, who has racing experience 😂.
The Format was Mike Brewers idea there was not another production available on mainstream. It’s ideal therefore those working on the production work with his idea fully realising its potential. Ed China was a great co host.
I don't think Edd and Ant are going to lose sleep over this. Ant pushed off to the US where last I read he is with Renee Zellweger. Anyway Fuzz Townsend is a legend!
having previously worked alongside a car dealer with a similar personality, I can understand why, full of his own self importance. car selling isn't rocket science, you don't need any brains, just a bullying personality to force people into cars they probably don't really need.
Funny, I got that impression with Ant Anstead, he annoyed the hell out of me how he wouldn't shut up talking about himself :P I watched about three or four episodes with him in it and couldn't take anymore. Then I saw a series he made in recreating an old racer, and managed to force myself to sit through three episodes of that in the hopes he'd stop singing praise about himself, but nope, again with the self-importance. The new bloke in Wheeler Dealers though, Elvis, is very good.

I’d turn the question around and say, "Why is Mike Brewer the main guy?" It should be Ed, Ant or Marc, these are the stars, they’re the guys who can work with their hands; make, fix, their skills and knowledge is impressive. Typical in the UK, people with technical and manual skills are denigrated, they’re the people society needs.
I watched the show only when Edd China was still in it. What a nice character, what a knowledge! I loved the way he explained what he was doing and why. The show must get rid of Mike Brewer, get another car salesman and reinstate Edd!
No one is bigger than their show. However the production company have a lot to answer for because they wanted to go bigger and better instead of perfecting what they had with Edd and Mike. Going global from a small series which the UK took to it's hearts was a step too far. I have met Mike and Edd through my business and I have to say, they are both good guys.
I met EDD China at the Birmingham car show, he's a nice level headed guy, I remember watching an episode of Wheeler Dealers and Mike Brewer had the nerve to say on tv "I DO ALL THE WORK" , EDD ruled that show with his skills, that drove me into doing a mechanics course L2 L3 and passed, little did I know due to lack of experience no garage will employ me. But if there is anyone out there that is willing to help, let me know
This is total rubbish. Met Mike Brewer on many occasions even when filming at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire. A genuinely nice guy both on and off camra, which is more than more than I can say for some complete tossers I have had the displeasure to work with. Love or hate Jeremy Clarkson he is a very genuine person both on and off screen as is James May.
Isn't that the hallmark of the used car salesman - to make you feel he's your friend and doing you a favour. He's a wide boy but successful with it. I doubt he's got any real friends - I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.
It’s a shame fame went to his head but after all Mike was a car salesman and we all know that you wouldn’t trust one as far as you could throw them Ed was the star but you can only flog a horse for so long 🤔
He is a happy go lucky type, always, ready for a joke, he does a lot of completely necessary work behind the scenes, which is still work. He enjoys his driving at the wheel so much that he laughs and giggles very loudly, which is of great amusement to others. He mixes well with his mechanical partners, tells them to do this and that in a jovial way, making it all part of the fun. He does not seem to care that he is getting fatter by the day, not forgetting that fat people are always happy, fun loving people. Mike has a very large garage full of cars, 4 porche, plus many others, over £1m worth. Mike being a millionair $4, does not need to work but carries on because he loves cars and everything to do wth them. 😊🎉🎉🎉
Can't finish this due to the insipid ping pong "background" noise. If your content and voice quality can't carry the segment, try another line of work.

There's something not quite right about him. Dont know what it is but it will come out one day.
I watched the show only when Edd China was still in it. What a nice character, what a knowledge! I loved the way he explained what he was doing and why. The show must get rid of Mike Brewer, get another car salesman and reinstate Edd!
I like Mike , he plays a role for the show
No one is bigger than their show. However the production company have a lot to answer for because they wanted to go bigger and better instead of perfecting what they had with Edd and Mike. Going global from a small series which the UK took to it's hearts was a step too far. I have met Mike and Edd through my business and I have to say, they are both good guys.
I agree with that, once the Yanks got hold of it they dumbed it down and ruined it.
Would have been helpful if you had got your facts correct! It was Ant who left the show when it returned to the uk! Sad
I love the show and frankly, no show without Mike, Ta Ta
Nothing more than a con man who sells cars in my humble opinion with Daddy giving him the space to do so !!!!!!!!
That’s what I thought.
But if there is anyone out there that is willing to help, let me know
He’s done alright for himself considering everyone hates him 😂
@gavstenhouse8857 thanks to edd.
Self-absorbed narcissist!
Loved Edd on WDs but didn't care for Brewer....
It’s a shame fame went to his head but after all Mike was a car salesman and we all know that you wouldn’t trust one as far as you could throw them Ed was the star but you can only flog a horse for so long 🤔
Mabey people dont believe him. Would you buy a car from this man ?
The lost years were with an ex copper.....Elvis is a great bloke although the shows are too short to show all of his engineering skills.
Hey Brewer news flash. We didn't tune in to watch you but Edd.
HE IS THE BRAILNLESS LOUDMOUTH that every motoring show has.
TIM SHAW, JEREMY CLARKSON, GERRY FROM WHEELDEALERS FRANCE.....
NO BRAIN JUST MOUTH.
Check your spelling before calling other people brainless.
Would not watch after Edd china left.
Edd China was the power in front of the throne, not Brewer, who came across as obnoxious.
Notice how Mike always tries to get the price down when buying (understandably) but negatively comments when someone tries it with him.
It was such a shame Ed and Mike departed company. I loved that show but I feel it has lost it's sparkle.😐
Because he is a total bell end !! SIMPLES
A very clever bell end who has made a very good living
Ask yourself
Would you buy a car off him!!!!!😮
I bought a Mazda CX5 from Mike Brewer Motors a couple of years ago. Was a fair price and has been a good reliable car. Still got it.
I haven’t watched wheeler dealers after Edd china left and don’t know what to watch besides UA-cam 😅
Yeah I watched til the end but miss the show😢
He is a happy go lucky type, always, ready for a joke, he does a lot of completely necessary work behind the scenes, which is still work. 😊🎉🎉🎉
Mike was up is own arse, the show wouldn’t of been half as popular if Edd wasn’t in it, never the same when he left.
Can't finish this due to the insipid ping pong "background" noise. If your content and voice quality can't carry the segment, try another line of work.
Mike is a real w⚓
Little Billy bullshit like the commentary about a porsche when its an mr2
