    I think it would have been a good decision to have made the Saturn play 32x as well as Saturn games. It had a cartridge slot, but it was only used for ram and save game memory. But it would have been awesome if it was backwards compatible.

      Man, If the Saturn would've played 32X, Genesis, and Sega CD games....Sega may still be around today. Consumer confidence would've fared so much better and 32X development wouldn't have ceased, because every Saturn owner was a potential 32X game sale as well. Real shame this didn't happen. Consumer confidence would've remained high as would developer confidence in the platform.

      The 32X had very similar specs to the SNES. The main difference was CPU but the SNES used FX, FX2 and SA-1 chips in their cartridges which allowed them to perform the same in graphics output. Just think of the 32X as what the Genesis should of been in the first place.

      @roadkill_52 3 роки тому +2

      @@tskraj3190 That doesn't make any sense. The Genesis was already more powerful than the SNES, the 32X is certainly more powerful than it even with extra chips as you can see on games like Doom.

    • @tskraj3190
      @tskraj3190 3 роки тому

      @@roadkill_52 Not really. The CPU was better but everything else on the Genesis was crap. The SNES was still 460,000 instructions per second faster than the Genesis even though it used half the clock speed. The SNES had a 15 Bit color pallete of 32,768 colors Genesis had 2 identical 9-Bit 256 color palletes (only 256 were usable while the others were used for color flickering). The SNES displayed 256 colors simultaneously the Genesis only displayed 61 colors simultaneously. The SNES displayed 4 parallax scrolling backgrounds, the Genesis could only do 2 Parallax scrolling backgrounds. The SNES has 8-Channel 16-Bit Dolby Digital Stereo with RCA output, The Genesis has 6-Channel 8-Bit simulated stereo with a S-Video output. SNES had 256 KBs of RAM while the Genesis only had 72KBs of RAM. The SNES by default had a 6 Button controller while the Genesis only had a default 3 Button controller. The SNES looked and sounded good, the Genesis looked and sounded like crap. As for the 32X everything had to be ran through the Genesis/Mega Drive which greatly bottlenecked the 32X's speed and sound. Gameplay was very laggy, jail bars very visible and the sound was still limited through the Genesis 8-Bit sound lanes.

    On the subject of the cancelled Michael Jackson game project: during the 1980s and 1990s, it seemed like MJ was obsessed with making sci-fi-themed media centered around spaceships (i.e., _Captain EO_ , _Moonwalker_ , and his "Scream" video with his sister Janet). I think he really wanted to make his own version of _Star Wars_ . Anyway, nice video.

    These are some interesting videos, only problem I have with them is that most of the time I don't know what I am looking at. It would have been good to have a bit of text saying what footage wwe are seeing, if it's footage from a different game, or a different version of this game.

    • @Jenovi

      I thought about that, then about including it below....It was quite a debate, but you can see what I decided.

    The concept behind Revolution X reminds me of the unreleased "Sunman" game for the NES. Prototype ROMs can be found, but the game clearly was a work in progress.

    Revolution X is, I think, the first arcade game I beat from start to finish. I was just playing the Saturn version with my friend the other day. My god, does it suuuuck. First, no light gun support. If you put this game in a Saturn with a light gun connected, the game will not start. Crazy. It just acts like the console is broken. Second, there are spots were you just hold down the fire button for several minutes while enemies endlessly respawn in the same spot. It's tedious, boring, and the lack of light gun support is inexcusable.

    • @Jenovi
      @Jenovi  6 років тому +2

      Thanks for sharing that. I really can't imagine a light gun game being ported to the Saturn and not having support for a gun. That's insane! I've played the Genesis released only and it's not really that bad. I actually saw the arcade machine when I was in NOLA, but didn't play.

      When I was about 13 I went to NY to visit my grandparents. They took me to an arcade in Brooklyn, and they gave me quarters until I finished it. It was the first time I saw it, and I liked Aerosmith. Speaking of Saturn ports with no light gun support, check out Corpse Killer. Also suuuuucks.

      Nothing Digital Pictures did wasn't terrible. But Corpse Killer is probably their best game, as sad as that is. At least the 32X version has light gun support. 3DO version did too. It makes no sense that they cut it for the Saturn release.

    Probably wrong place to ask this but many video that mention the ps1/psone call it psx why is that? The psx is a digital video recorder with a ps2 built in. So why psx???

    • @Jenovi
      @Jenovi  6 років тому +3

      Essentially the system was marketed as the PSX before released. That was the codename and the name of a popular magazine covering the system and it's games. Having owned they PSX since launch, it's always been what we called it. Even with the PS2 launching, it was still referred to as the PSX. The launch of the PSOne is what really caused the change in the way people reference the console. So depending on your age and familiarity with the system, PSX is the general console, PSone is the small revised console. Other people will sometimes use Original Playstation of PS1 too. Hope that helps.

      Must be the way I speak that pushes the L sound out. I have it notated as Megalopolis and feel like I'm pronouncing it that way.
