Hi! A quick note from the development team of Go For It! (the fighting game shown at 07:52). As Mike (Retro Gamer Boy) has kindly explained previously, he accidentally uploaded the gameplay footage of our game running at 25 frames per second. The game runs smoothly at 60 frames per second, as shown on the footage posted to our social media accounts and UA-cam channel. We're working very hard on the project - and we hope people from all walks of life will enjoy the game when it's finally realized. Many, MANY thanks again to Retro Gamer Boy for using his voice to spotlight our project, and so many other amazing games coming to our beloved Mega Drive. Mike goes out of his way to promote the Mega Drive indie scene - and our community is so much better for it. Thank you, sir - for everything!
@iheartpizzallc1838, your game looks nice and all, but if there is one thing that I would ask that you do, it is to make the font, and the colors of your letters of the names of the fighters, easier to decipher, as their names are kind of hard to make out, to be honest.
@Даниил-з4ь4ф only released in Brazil by Tectoy. You play as an Indian who's pi$$ed off due to Satan himself building a circus over his land. Now he's out to get him with his bare fist & kicks. It's a really unique game with a really bizarre but not bad soundtrack.
Earthion is one I’ve been looking forward to for a long time! I think you are right, it’ll blow everything away! It’s the only game that feels like it picked up right where Sega left off back in the day!
Thanks for remembering that Zabu exists! We definitely won't be done in 2025, but we're still making steady progress and plan to release a second demo.

Shadow Gangs Zero looks amazing! I understand that it's a multiplatform release on the Neo-Geo, Dreamcast, and modern systems too, but assuming that footage is on the Genesis/Mega Drive, then that's amazing! I was even just getting back into 2D ninja style games, and this combined with the new 2D Ninja Gaiden are exactly what I wanted
I can't believe we're getting a conversion of SNES Batman Returns on the MD. It already looks amazing, and one I'm looking forward to, as well as Space Hunter, Mega R-Type and a few others.
So many fantastic Genesis/MD games in the works. Absolutely can't wait for Earthion and ZPF, and Mega Final Fight is soooo sick. The demo blew me away, damn near arcade perfect.
@@rafaelantonio6765 Unfortunately, due to being busy at work, I didn't have enough time to make a playable demo. The only thing I may have time to do is another video about the progress of the development.
If you told me it was 1995 and this was the triple A releases for that year I would be impressed and happy I was still playing on my MD. Quite amazing the amount of development that is happening now. I know he stated not ready in 2025, but Castlevania symphony of the night is among my most anticipated games. Also post the Batman Returns announcement last week, I am really looking forward to that. The one that has really impressed me recently is Real Bout Fatal Fury. I believe development is still continuing on that one.
Very cool video Mike. I almost thought the new Mega Drive games were slowing down but this is quite a list with a bunch of cool looking games I had not heard of before. I've been waiting for ZPF and Phantom Gear for years now so hopefully we'll see those finished this year.
All great games for sure Mike. I'm looking forward to DaemonClaw, Sovietborgs, and Shadow Gangs Zero from the list...Plus they are coming to Neo-Geo as well. 8^)
I would love to see some new special edition versions of Darius and Darius II and have them have all of the options of all of their different variants, as well as have options for two-player simultaneous support, the ability to be played on 4:3, as well as 16:9, widescreen ratios, to be played on multiple CRT televisions, or modern widescreen HDMI/4K televisions, and have a new upgrade option that is more like the upgrade option that is found in Darius Twin, Darius Force/Super Nova, Darius Gaiden, and Darius Gaiden Extra Version, along with an all new Mode in each video game, namely, that they can have each variant of theirs play with all of the Stages one Stage after the other Stage, for those people that want the most out of their experiences of these video games. The video games could be called Darius: Complete Edition and Darius II: Complete Edition. Meanwhile, Darius Twin, and Darius Force/Super Nova, could be reworked into its own long video game and called Darius III. Also, all three video games will appear on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and the SNES/NSFC.
There are some promising titles on the horizon for the Genesis. Earthion is the only one I really care about. It seems to be the only title that is pushing the hardware to its absolute limits. I have ZPF preordered as well. Maybe a handful of other titles I'll consider, depending on how development comes along. The fact that there are developers still making games for the system is truly incredible.

We're also looking forward to the new Mega Drive games STREET FIGHTER 2 OMEGA with 3DO sprits on Sega Genesis (Hamoopig engine by Gamedevboos), The King Of Fighters Mega Drive (Hamoopig engine, game made by Rheogamer, Pyron and others).
I know this is not a popular opinion but I always preferred the Megadrive's crunchier sound over the Snes' sound chip tbh. Looking at this, there's something that many Indie Devs (who IMO are keeping the spirit of gaming alive) are overlooking - the sprites during the 16-bit era were more detailed than they were given credit for. As a child, the leap between Master System and Megadrive was MASSIVE, the detail of the sprites and parallax scrolling was insane compared to 8-bit games. A good chunk of the retro-inspired Indies claiming to be 16-bit inspired are often more reminiscent of their 8-bit counterparts IMO. NGL, I'd quite like to see some of those land on Steam.
Is this the Mega Drive's best year ever for game releases? (I'm kidding, but it's a crazy amount for such an old console) I do want to play all of these titles eventually. If I'da known in 1994 that MD development was going to be like this in 2025, I probably would have held onto my Model 1. I miss that thing, scars and all :(
So happy that Genesis is getting so many fantastic games! There are many of talented friends delivering such beauties. But sad that Altered Beast 2 MD wasn't even mentioned ;(
It's shadow and highlight mode, it's a standard genesis hardware feature eg no special chips or anything. We are using the shadow effect on our game (Lufthoheit #4 in the list ) for our water affect - that's shadow transparency in the water. The mode can also do white transparency such as the outline on the ghosts.
I’m really loving the resurgence of retro style games. I’ve always felt the 2D , sprite style is an art in itself. Forgive Me for asking, are these titles actually put onto cartridges for a system that is over 30 years old! Also are these games licensed by Sega?! Will we see a plethora of new indie games/ series developed for these older systems to compete and combat with the recent (and failing) games market!?
Nice! I wish Streets of Rage 2: New Era, Streets of Rage X, and Streets of Rage REMAKE would be released on the Sega. I played them and they are all awesome games.
Not the best footage selection for all the games but there are a few I wasn't aware off and ended looking for them, some even seem a lot more awesome when played right.
@@RetroGamerBoy Yeah, my hacked SNES Mini is my preferred way of playing pretty much all classic retro games these days. It's just so convenient and fun. And, because it's hacked, it's not just a SNES, which is my personal favourite single console of all time, but now also a Genesis, Master System, NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, PC Engine, Neo Geo, Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, etc, all in one. It has actually quickly become my favourite gaming system ever at this point. And I'll definitely try a bunch of these games on it for sure.
Given fan-made ports being made for all kinds of classic series that get put on different older consoles that never saw a port, I'm surprised no huge fan of the super scaler titles like Thunder Blade have ported them to 32x as a fan-hobby-loveletter type thing.
Can't wait to get my hands on many of these titles! Thanks for keeping us upto date on the indie MD scene Mike, love your enthusiasm! Merry Christmas to you mate 👊
Really Looking Forward too : Earthion P47 IIMD Mega R-Type Final Fight SplatterHouse Batman Returns I dont usually buy HomeBrew but i think ill make an exception fo the above , too good to pass up :P
Спасибо. Также для Mega Drive в разработке игры: The Bagman (вдохновлено Clock Tower SNES) Into The Darkness (fantasy FPS) Legend of Leyria (new rpg) Mega Castlevania 4 Darkstalkers (fighting) Shinobi Epsilon Wave (shmup проще представленных здесь, но это работа одного человека и выглядит мило, так что пусть будет) The Weave (вдохновлено Loom от LucasArts) Super Star Wars Holiday Special Super Cyborg (порт инди-игры в стиле Контры, выходила на PC и XBOX)
30:41 Batman Returns MD - with 2 player coop and more enemies on-screen, this game will be incredible if it gets finished. 2nd player should be Robin, though...
How the heck most of these games show so many colors on the Genesis? If the programers could do this in the 90s, between the CPU's speed AND colors, the Genesis would've been the undisputed winner of the console wars
1:01 This game looks so cool, but i gotta say those enemies are moving way too fast for how slowly the player's aiming reticle moves. Maybe if there was some auto-aim assist, or a twin stick configuration (both could be optional) it would be more manageable. Anyway I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
The Megadrive is getting more games than the PS5
It's funny because it almost seems true!

(I'm kidding, but it's a crazy amount for such an old console)
I do want to play all of these titles eventually.
If I'da known in 1994 that MD development was going to be like this in 2025, I probably would have held onto my Model 1. I miss that thing, scars and all :(
I've got an MD game every year since it's release in the UK. This new games ensure I can continue that tradition.
So happy that Genesis is getting so many fantastic games! There are many of talented friends delivering such beauties. But sad that Altered Beast 2 MD wasn't even mentioned ;(
The transparency effect of the ghost on the first game and the music is impressive. I think they used some chip like a Mega SD kind of hardware.
Yes they're getting a physical release and they're all unlicensed as far as i know.
Yup most of these are getting physical releases.
Bio-Evil MD is one that I waiting most right now. I hope the proyect not be cancelled.
Lyle in Cube Sector got released this year , major overlook imho
What is that? I need to know.
@@RetroGamerBoy Straight port of a 2006 PC Metroidvania game , really good I think it's best MD game released this year
I'm not sure what that means.
Sword of the Apocalypse is like YS game in 2D.
Yup
I'll definitely give a handful of these a go on my SNES Mini for sure.
Hey there snes hero🦸
VR game's have melted your brain🧠
Hey snes hero🦸
Do you still believe the snes will overtake the genesis in the aftermarket? 🤔
Genesis aftermarket 🚀
Snes aftermarket 🐌
That would be cool. Some of these are free from release, like Batman MD.
@@RetroGamerBoy Please refer to @inceptional as the snes hero🦸
Imagine going back to 1995, and telling people the genesis is still getting games 30 years later
Tbh the megadrive (genisis) is what made me love games.
Simply stunning...I bet those developers chose the Sega Genesis because Nintendon't policies.
Probably
Given fan-made ports being made for all kinds of classic series that get put on different older consoles that never saw a port, I'm surprised no huge fan of the super scaler titles like Thunder Blade have ported them to 32x as a fan-hobby-loveletter type thing.
Can't wait to get my hands on many of these titles! Thanks for keeping us upto date on the indie MD scene Mike, love your enthusiasm! Merry Christmas to you mate 👊
Some interesting looking games coming out next year, i have played earthion it's very good going to be buying that.
Given me alot of games i didnt know about too look out for 👌🏻
Great video! My Capt. Barrel cartridge was delivered in 2024.
What!! No way.
Mine too, it's out now!
30 new SEGA games coming that's insane, that is the same output the console would have had when it was being sold
Quick question, will these games or some of these be released as physical cartridges?
Eventually yes...
@RetroSegaDev what do you mean by eventually?
@@idonothing7557game dev is a slow process well at least it is for my game!
Yes. Some are even getting collectors editions like Secrets of the 4 Winds.
@@RetroGamerBoy thanks! The romance is completed in a physical package form ☺️
Really Looking Forward too :
Earthion
P47 IIMD
Mega R-Type
Final Fight
SplatterHouse
Batman Returns
I dont usually buy HomeBrew but i think ill make an exception fo the above , too good to pass up :P
this batman looks amazing
Yup, they are releasing a demo or something on Christmas day.
I wish these would come out on the Evercade!
Lufthoheit feels more like a tech demo than a game. You can't tell what's your spaceship and what's the enemy. It's very confusing.
Спасибо. Также для Mega Drive в разработке игры:
The Bagman (вдохновлено Clock Tower SNES)
Into The Darkness (fantasy FPS)
Legend of Leyria (new rpg)
Mega Castlevania 4
Darkstalkers (fighting)
Shinobi
Epsilon Wave (shmup проще представленных здесь, но это работа одного человека и выглядит мило, так что пусть будет)
The Weave (вдохновлено Loom от LucasArts)
Super Star Wars Holiday Special
Super Cyborg (порт инди-игры в стиле Контры, выходила на PC и XBOX)
You forgot about the remake of p47 for the mega drive!!!!!!! They are redoing the bosses shooting system etc because it never released!!
No I just did not have time to cover everything. But thanks for letting people know about it.
@RetroGamerBoy awesome 👌 love the content
That music on True Galactic Mission, is that a cover of "The Heart Beneath" by Celtic frost? (Aka the Manga entertainment VHS intro)
Interesting
Coloco and Black Jewel Reborn look the most interesting
For sure, those games are such different genres.
30:41 Batman Returns MD - with 2 player coop and more enemies on-screen, this game will be incredible if it gets finished.
2nd player should be Robin, though...
Ya Robin would be great
How the heck most of these games show so many colors on the Genesis? If the programers could do this in the 90s, between the CPU's speed AND colors, the Genesis would've been the undisputed winner of the console wars
1:01 This game looks so cool, but i gotta say those enemies are moving way too fast for how slowly the player's aiming reticle moves. Maybe if there was some auto-aim assist, or a twin stick configuration (both could be optional) it would be more manageable. Anyway I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
It's an RPG. You need to upgrade those stats.
Some Real Gems There!
Pure quality.
Sooner than later homebrew games are gonna be mainstream
Agreed
The last game True Galactic Mission reminds me of a 16-bit version of the gameboy title ZAS
I've already got Lethal Wedding strangely enough.
