- The Ruger LCP Max takes the LCP line to another level. 10 to 12 round capacity and yet only slightly larger. Lots of design improvements as well. Big thanks to Ruger and Fiocchi USA for their help.

My LCP was jamming so I sent it back to Ruger and then they "fixed" it and sent it back. Shortly after it started jamming again so again contacted Ruger. They call me back and let me know they're going to send me a replacement. They sent me a LCP Max! Im excited to shoot it. Ruger really knows how to take care of their customers 🤗
Wow!...Sig would never....ever...do that.
I'm not saying you were but often people like the gun is jamming and they actually happen to be limp wirsting the gun not sure if this can be a problem with the lcps tho but I know Glocks suffer from limpwirsting in inexperienced shooters.
Lcp's are particular to the ammo it uses, did you try ball ammo not flat nose
@@skysthelimit6495 shut up and stop repeating that. So tiresome hearing that. Guns malfunction too
So, did your Max jam, too? Mine has already been back one time and they said it was fired X-number of times "with no malfunctions". Yeah, right! Still jams as bad as the day I sent it in. Ruger customer service and quality control is nothing like it was 30 or more years ago.
At least Ruger is listening to its customer base.

Now we just need a micro 45 double stack
@First Last yep thats why im not getting these new ruger polymer semiautos
@First Last i just picked up a Ruger American 45 today and yea no dumb little takedown pin u can lose easily its like just like my Smith and Wesson m&p shield in terms of the way it brakes down
Excellent .380 micro CCW option. However, Ruger should include both the 10 round and the 12 round magazines in the basic package.
It's insulting that they don't
Probably didn't because of commie states with 10rd restrictions
Easier packaging that can sell to mag limited states. Keeps advertised suggested retail price low for competitive purposes. Prob make more profit selling them separately.
@@wsieber89 if that was the case why not just included to 10 round mags with 12 as a later option? All guns (for the most part) 2-3 mag minimum.
@@barcelona2170 just giving my two cents guy.
Ruger's customer service is the best. I had a magazine with a scratch on it when I bought it. I called them up and ask if I could send the scratched one back and the lady told me not to worry about it, they would send me a brand new one. 4 days later I got a brand new one in the mail no questions asked. Now I have three mags.
Scratch on the mag? Lol. Went through all that for a scratch? Focus on minor things are bad bro.
That's ridiculous
From 6 to 12 is a 100% increase.
👍
Thanks. Came here to make sure someone said it
thanks for that vital and complex computational assist!! :)
You guys are brutal!
Indeed, it is!
My bank account has had to file a restraining order against you 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oof, I feel and understand that all too well! Lol
Me too
Same! Haha
don't you mean against you?
This is currently my favorite pocket pistol. I carry it with a 12-round magazine loaded with Hornady Critical Defense ammo. I can put it in my pocket and walk around the neighborhood without needing to "holster up" for my larger gun.
Don’t bother with hornandy. Get “precision one”. Ballistically out of a very short barrel it will meet fbi standards for hollow points
@@drugsarebad97 every gun is different. What works for you, might not work for someone else. It's important to try, what works for your gun and you, personally, the best. Especially with tiny pistols.
Btw: FBI Standard is about penetration, hollow points are designed to expand. A slow hollow point might penetrate deeper, because it doesn't expand, like it was designed to do.
I like Sigsur Elite Personal Defense rounds.
I fell in love with mine. Very easy carry, not a bad trigger, and at 30 ft it shoots far above most tiny pistols. Ruger has a winner in this one.
I like what Ruger has done here
Interesting...Ruger, bringing it.
USA! USA! USA!
This is incredibly heads-up by Ruger! Everyone wants more capacity in a smaller package! Ruger just knocked it outta the park...again!
@King Of Crunk But does it still easily fit in a pocket? That's the whole purpose of this class of gun.
@King Of Crunk Thank you. Good to know. I just ordered the LCP Max from Bass Pro Shops, so hopefully they'll let me look at it in the store. Seems like a great balance of many capabilities. Looking forward to it. Appreciated
Ruger has really updated their line of firearms in the past few years. I’m impressed.
Updated that price too 😆
@@EXSENTRIX Well what didn't? Food, gas etc everything increased in prices
Too bad they don't update the reliability of their abominations from Mayoden.
Glock will respond with a 42X. Single stack magazine with a longer grip. You watch
Don't forget two-toned, only to purposely come out with an all black version knowing that's what the people wanted in the first place.
And a Glock 49, the 48's fraternal twin
Glock has gotten lame in the past few years.
It'll be the same capacity as the 42 because Glock
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I used to travel a lot for work which lead to me being out late. My husband wanted me to start carrying something outside of my bedazzled pepper spray for protection so we purchased the LCP Max (in Tiffany blue, of course). Thankfully I've never had to pull the trigger outside of a few practice shots to make sure I know how to use it but it's been perfect for the peace of mind it's provided. Super convienent to use and store.
Bring on the high capacity pocket 380s. Who’s next, S&W Bodyguard?
Actually I think Glock might be the next in the .380 high caps. The G42X could be a thing.
Nah. Jk. Glock will never do anything innovative again lol
And im a glock guy.
Glock never listens to their customers.
@@11spitdms agreed. We wanted a G19 size grip with a G17 barrel length...what'd they give us? A G19 barrel length with a G17 size grip 😂😂 the exact opposite of what we wanted. Now ppl want the G43 (the original version) to have this same style of truncated mags that allow more capacity...crickets. shield arms makes a magazine for the G43X that's based on that same design idea and takes your capacity from 10rds to 15rds. By that math, they (shield arms) could make a 11/12rd magazine for the G43 just by doing the same thing they did for G43X mags...Glock? Crickets. If I didn't have so much invested in the G19/G26 platforms (as the G26 is interchangeable with G19 parts/holsters/backup mags/etc) between my winter/summer carry options...I'd have left glock long ago. As it stands Now, I don't see myself going any other direction. But, again, it isn't for lack of desire to move toward these new micro 9's & .380's...I'm just heavily invested in the G19/G26 platform for carry. Hope Glock does something cool soon; because they're getting dusted in the world of innovation
@@robl884 you aren’t wrong
@@ironmikehallowween I wish I was lol
I held off on the Max 9 because I have other micro 9s, I'd buy this 380. I have a lot of 380 ammo.
how did you have lots of .380 ammo? I've been looking for it for the last 8 months. Hard to come by local stores!!!
@@troytruong8246 I bought it a few years ago. all of it range ammo. I rarely shoot 380.
Been waiting for something like this forever

@@traumajock I wanted a "high cap" but lightweight and compact 380. The Bursa is heavier than some 9mm
@@traumajock I bought the Thunder Plus a few years ago. It was too large for pocket carry in my opinion. Sold it almost immediately. Ended up with an LCP 2. This Max is an easy upgrade for me.
Now to summons the elusive .380 ammo fairy.
Very true its literally impossible to get still...🤷🏻♂️
You plant and water a 9mm seed then spread the fairy dust just before sunrise and watch it Grow....😅
@@zzxxooooxxzz4964 that's because a whole lot of first-time gun buyers bought it all.

Yeah 1 dollar a round is bs. I've found more 380 but I wasnt going to pay those prices.
No Sootch, that's a 100% increase. 9 would be a 50% increase.
Yep
2nd
I also came here to nerd out and say the same lol
Yeah, he should've said 50% difference.
Like climate change instead of global warming. Get the verbiage down so you're right, even when you're wrong.
Snarky and Snootch!
The "comes with one magazine" is a Ruger tactic in pricing so it's best to add the cost of at least one additional magazine and consider that as the price of a new gun. Ruger makes great guns for the money but their pricing is a little deceptive.
You are right I bought 3 more 12rd immediately, but because the gun "That much of a game changer" for me it was worth it.
you related to Jack ?
They shocked me that the new Security .380 comes with two mags!
I agree, but it at least it allows someone like me, who only wants one mag--at least for starters--to not have to pay the price of a second mag in the price tag.
@@ledzeppelin1212 I get most of my mags from Ebay. Saves a few bucks there too.
The Max is a huge upgrade over the original. I have both, and it is quickly becoming my EDC. So compact, very accurate, loaded with underwood XD ammo. A joy to have on you at all times...
Finaly a big name made a new double stack 380, I have been wanting somone to do this for years
Agreed. The first pistol I ever shot was the Beretta Cheetah (basically a .380 Beretta 92 with a frame safety) and it's so nice. I hate how most .380 guns being released these days are either tiny pocket pistols or older guns that are still being manufactured today. 380 still has a place in today's market and I'm happy Ruger released a high capacity .380 pistol.
I'd like to see this pistol side by side with the KelTec PF9....; the PF9 was quite surprisingly gentle to shoot, leaving little use for even smaller .380 pistols, at least IMHO....
Hoping for S&W to roll out a 15 round 380ez. Too much to ask?
@@ElDiabloLocoPoco I mean the EZ was made single stack on purpose so its eaiser to load with the nubs on the side that let you pull down the follower so I wouldn't get your hopes up
@@crazyirishmedic9535 If ruger can do it without changing the slide, I don't see how it would degrade the 380ez. Even Taurus can fit a double stack into its very slender pt111 series of 9mm. If there were a good modern 380 double stack, it will sell in today's market. So good on ruger for being the first.
That’s a winner. This will become my carry gun.
I though some company would make a high capacity double stack .380 at some point. 10-12 rounds from a pocket pistol is amazing.
Love your reviews! Remember doubling the capacity from 6 to 12 is a 100% increase not 50%. Common mistake. 9 would be a 50% increase.
Ordered one of these puppies a couple days ago. Thank you Ruger! I wouldn't buy the LCPII because of low magazine capacity...then I discovered the Max, just what I've been looking for! Well done.
I think the LCP max is a tremendous game changing option, but just as a FYI, Hyve makes outstanding quality anodized aluminum +2 mag bases for the LCP II that give it 8+1 capacity. 9 rounds is not exactly anything to be scoffed at either.
I just bought one, do you have trouble getting the round out of the chamber? The round doesn’t pop out like other guns it gets stuck
This gun is going to become a legend.
.32 ACP with 15-16 rounds would be neat too.
It would also have less recoil and be more manageable. Id want to see it done! Sounds better than .22 Lr
Closest you’ll get is the Bersa pro it holds 15 .380
14 would be realistic. The CZ82 were available in .380 and .32. The .32 had 15 the .380 13 rounds. The .32 has a semi rim what takes away more space than the caliber diameter has.
I can't even find .32 where I live, I asked one store and the guy said he hasn't seen any in years lmao
Have you tried ordering online
Thanks for the great review of the LCP Max. You can always be counted on to present a clear, concise post on newer firearms. I carry my LCP Max with one, 10-round magazine and two, 12-round magazines.
Anyone else her say "Well imma have to buy this now" only to realize you couldn't do that for the last 10 releases 😂
Sootch put another damn hole in my bank account. Lol guess I'll be buying this thing tomorrow.
Now, THIS has my attention. My LCP2 is my "fitness firearm", and this looks like the upgrade I've been waiting for! Thanks for putting this review together.
I've carried a glock 36 as my sweatpants weapon for years 😂 real happy to get this one.
I use it for fitness too! Great little firearm for getting your sweat on.
Finally real sights!
Finally. Now make it in 32 acp and keep it as thin as the original with 10 round capacity.
I'm a big fan of the 32 ACP round. I've owned and carried several over the years. I like the 32 over the 380. The 32 is very underrated now a days.
@@shadowwolf2524 y
@@DreErdna The 32 ACP is accurate and more reliable in my experience. And I've owned and shot many different 32's and 380's. I would pick a 32 over a 380 Everytime if I had to pick one or the other. But my favorite small gun to carry is a S&W J frame revolver in 38 special. They are more powerful than the 32 and 380. And the most reliable of all 3 normally.
@@shadowwolf2524 interesting. I guess I’ve learned don’t ignore a caliber. Thank you for your response! Any specific JFrame u could point me too?
I bought an LCP MAX because I'm tired of wrestling with holsters all the time in hot 🔥 Florida weather. 12 rds or +1 of decent 380 JHPs is enough to get me out of anything reasonable. Maybe throw an extra mag in the pocket if I'm feeling the need. FYI, a "STICKY" pocket holster is a great investment. A dust sleeve for the extra mag too.
It's a great time to be alive in the 2A World.
I pray I never need it.😇👍
Watched pretty much all the different channels reviews of this firearm. Yours is by far the most thorough and in depth. Thank you.
All the joy of shooting end's when I bring out my Lcp 2...Kicks like a mule but tucks oh so nice in a front pocket...
Ends doesn't need an apostrophe.
It' kicks a bit but still less than the S&W Bodyguard. How Smith has let that thing go so long without improving on it is beyond me.
@@aaronneumeyer5572 no doubt. I've sent mine back in 3 times. And I still can't trust it.

Ruger is on a roll! Good for them. 👍
Just got this 2 days ago. Sootch is right. This is a really nice carry piece and it comes with great features Very impressed. Ate everything I fed it no issues.
Best part of this video is watching him shoot over $100 of ammo in the intro.
That does not take much to shoot a $100 bucks now days, but in reality, probably same shots from different angles from multiple cameras... But sure looked good!
I’m about halfway through this review, and I just HAVE to tell you…this is the best damn review I’ve seen thus far.
Don’t get me wrong. I love my some Hickok and Colion. But sir, you really cover absolutely everything, and all of my questions are being answered.
Well done!
.380 is a good caliber as long as there is good expansion on hollow points. Paul Harrell has covered the .380 numerous times with great info in each video.
He's a treasure
Or consider Underwood's Xtreme Defense 380. Very good gel test video's on this at Tools & Targets channel.
Springfield is coming out with the bobcat now and sig is coming out with the p366 for leap year both in .380 C’MON MAN
Finally Ruger is waking up!
They merely beat the other guys to the punch. There will be 4 or 5 more within a year.
Whens glock going to wake up
@@craigholcombe1901 They’re getting left behind.
@@craigholcombe1901 What do you mean? They've been making 32 versions of the exact same gun for 40 years: brick meets plastic handle. It's like a Toyota: ugly as sin but it works.
One day, maybe next week, they'll come out with Gen 6 changing almost nothing yet again. Gosh it's been a couple years since Gen 5, and 4 years since Gen 4. Their innovation is really hard to keep track of.
I'm impressed, if for no other reason that they were able to double capacity with such minimal increase in size.
Be strong. Be of good courage. God bless America. Long live the republic. Man, I love that!

As a musician, the first dry fire you did I was like “ooo that’s a solid note. Wonder what it is.” And you answered it! C! Excellent review sir.
Picked one up and took to range. I like this little gun and pocket carry a lot of times. Shot placement is paramount. Trigger is 100% better than original LCP.
This is exactly what ive been waiting for! Thank you Ruger and thank you Sootch for the perfect video review on this firearm!!
This was a good review. The LCP Max is a very remarkable little pistol. Just 15 oz fully loaded with 13 Rounds, with Factory night sights. For anyone interested there is a playlist shooting the LCP Max all the way out to 20 yards if you click my screen name.
This was a great video as usual Sootch! Just when I think I got every base covered this beauty comes out👍 this is a legit "Game Changer" for deep concealed carry.
Dang Scootch, you shot that perfect! Really handle that recoil very well, I'm impressed. Thanks for all the work you do🤝👍
Thank you. Very good review. You hit on all the questions I had about it.
Just picked one of these up about 2hrs ago along with a couple 12rd mags 👍
I have one too. My factory provided 10 round magazine won't hold the slide open on the last round. The 12 rounder works perfectly.
I'm just glad people are bringing back pocketable double stack 380 ACP pistols again. An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age.
Excellent pocket carry, recently bought one of these and tested it at the range today. Great close quarters weapon.
Have had the older 6 mag. for about 8yr. I've got so used to carrying it, I keep it in my drawer with my billfold, and it goes in my pocket when my billfold goes in, love the little gun and its conceal ability, I give it a pat every now and then, to remind it and myself that it's there if needed, good gun good video.
Concealability is one word.......
I picked one up at my LGS today. Immediately took it to the range and put a box of over-priced WWB ball through it. Point of impact was a little low at 6 yards but not enough to matter on a gun like this. I'll start pocket carrying this over my Kahr CW380.
Definitely a market for small handguns like this. Great review and well done Ruger 👍🏻
I never understood why people cry about a takedown tool. Your EDC should contain a pocket knife of some sort, and thats a big reason why you have it. Emergency situations.
You don't sit there and field strip your main gun, you just pull out the back up and continue where you left off
Except it’s a little plastic pin that would vanish from the face of the earth if I were to strip the gun in low light conditions. 😁
Right. I carry a pocket knife and a leatherman for edc. So good to go.
I Have owned over a dozen pocket pistols, this is by far my favorite, so reliable, good trigger , good sites, and great accuracy. Sometimes i have to check my pocket to see if its still there lol, so light!
So many options now in this area. I love it.
I’m gonna need to get one! I already have LCP2 in .380 and in .22lr. Fun guns! Gotta get a LCP Max!
This little pistol is awesome in every way. Tiny, accurate for its size, reliable, great sights, isn't to snappy, recoil is very manageable. 5 out of 5 stars. My one and only complaint is that they should sell it with the 12 round mags instead of 10.
This is the type of pistol so many have been waiting for, FINALLY!
G42-am i a joke to you? Been cc my g42 for over 7 years. Still choose it over my p365. G42 is the best .380 shooter on the market since it first came out. So smooth and easy to shoot and cc. I've shot all the micro .380 already. they were all snappy as hell except the g42.
_This is exactly what I conceal carry, it's very comfy as well_

Been waiting for ruger’s next LCP offering. Nice to see higher capacity and nicer sights! 👍
Very nice review... I like the gun, but being a Small Framed person I went with the LCP2 just because of size. I know these are very close, but that small difference between the LCP2 and the LCP Max in the 380 is paramount to being totally hidden and comfortable, especially while using the Recluse Holster! I really love the LCP Line and I hope Ruger continues to support it... The Only issue I ever had was reinstalling the return spring.... It can shoot that rod into eternity... LOL, When I put the Return spring and Rod back into the gun after cleaning I point the pin to myself so it does not get away from me..... Again! LOL! Great video, Enjoyed it. 2 Thumbs up!
I had never heard of this pistol until seeing your review. Excellent review Sootch! This may be my next concealed pistol.
Excellent review. This pistol blows so many other conceal firearms, esp. Bond, out of the water. 12 rounds of .380 ACP in a package that small, that light, with a good trigger... WOW. Ruger just nailed the mouse gun.
Love the mag dumps, one handed even. Showing the ease of firing the weapon under stress. Well done.

Great job as always Sootch. I always enjoy your reviews and takes on new stuff. I've been carrying either a Ruger LC9s or an LCP II for the past 6 years and have found both to be outstanding. Love the video. Thanks for the great info. But always love the bloopers at the end.
Another outstanding review,thanks Sootch !
We are in the golden age of firearms.
Picked up mine a couple weeks ago... LOVE IT!
I have managed to put 100 rounds through it (yes I had to break into my back stock but it is worth it) and I am very happy with its performance.
I was seriously thinking LCPII, they are a bit skinny in the hand but appealing none the less. I am glad I waited long enough for this come out! The grip is wider, and fits my hand, and several others I have show this too, very nicely.
The 10 round mag is supplied with a flush mount base plate, I did swap it our for the supplied finger rest base plate and it works just perfectly for me!
I wear Wrangler jeans pretty much always, and the front right pocket works for carry, its comfortable while I am in a vehicle, or at my desk. I forget its there when I'm at the grocery store ect.
Empty weight, with holster, is 11.68 oz. Add the 10 + 1 rounds, I see 15.34 oz on my digital kitchen scale.
I'm thinking I will get a 12 round mag later on, but frankly the 10 round fits my needs well!
Follow-Up... So I have been pocket carrying this beauty for about 18 months now. I have put over 800 rounds through it, now use the 12 round mag full time, with the 10 round as back-up.
Late last year, I picked up a nifty little OWB holster from Tactical Scorpion Gear, TSG-LCP2-2 (option 2), it's for the LCPII, and the LCP Max fits in this awesome holster perfectly! The supplied, "tuck-it-in" style paddle is a bit difficult for me, but the belt attachment works flawlessly! I dont OWB the pistol ofetn, but when I do this one is perfect!
I replaced the stock holster back in June with one from Galco, PRO836B, and absolutely love this holster! Should have done it long ago!
For pocket carry, I still believe that this pistol is the best option out there!
I am with the word police.
You owe me $500 dollars for your mistaken spelling of nonetheless.
It is all one word, not three separate.....
I loved this video so much when you dropped it I had to buy one, you sold me this pistol and I'm sure this video sold a LOT more then a few! Im sure gun manufacturers love you!!!!
