    Geo, your the first reviewer of this razor I've seen so far and a great review and shave it was💈💈 I've had this razor for some time now and it quickly moved into my top three razors, efficient, smooth and a joy to use. I may opt for the long handle modification by sending to REX one day soon. TOBS Sandalwood always a top tier experience. Fantastic results in today's shave as I knew there would be. Nice video as always, thanks. See you next time.

    This is the best and only razor I ever use now. In fact due to my heavy beard it's really the only razor that has ever shaved me properly. I use it on max setting for all passes daily. 1 WTG and 1 ATG, boar brush Trumpers Eucris or Spanish leather cream and exec pre-shave oil and get a BBS. I have found that the angle to the face for this razor needs to be quite flat with handle near the face to get the best results. It's expensive, but I'd not be without it.

    Love the Konsul. It replaced my Ambassador as my daily driver. I just picked up the XL version as well. The longer handle makes it a little easier for me to hold after my stroke. But the Konsul or Konsul XL, you won't find anything better! Oh, and it rocks with a Perma Sharp, Voskhod, or Super Iridium blade.

      Try it with a Kai blade. I found the Feather and Kent of Inglewood's mild blade to be rough as heck with the Konsul but the Kai was so different I couldn't help but be impressed.

    I have the REX Konsul myself. I noticed you said it was aggressive. I'm thinking you meant in terms of efficiency and not blade exposure (feel). Even on setting 6 the blade feel is very mild imo. For me, the Konsul is the ultimate neck shaving razor and Matt Pisarcik designed it for such. Super smooth, extremely comfortable and efficient. Many people will balk at the price. But most of those same people will spend that same amount of money on multiple cheaper razors in the pursuit of one that performs like the Konsul. Materials and warranty of the Konsul are second to none. Just like the REX Ambassador. One last thing... try a Perma Sharp in the Konsul. That is the blade Matt used during development of the Konsul. I find it performs superbly.
    Love watching your reviews Geo! Keep up the excellent work.

    I just received mine. One of the issues I have is keeping the blade aligned in a straight line. When I add the handle to the top; the blade seems to slide around and not remain seated in a straight fashion. I know it’s probably user error; but I finally get the razor with head sealed to the blade seems to slide around and misalign to the head. I have arthritis and it may be my hands have a real hard time loading. I see you seed the blade, I’ll try that. It does help, but the blade seems to still misalign. • @Boslandschap1
    @Boslandschap1 2 роки тому +2

    The razor looks like they aimed to make a very high quality product and certainly looks a product that communicates that message.
    While it looks amazing and I'm certain it is top notch, I'm hesitant about the added value slanted razors can deliver. I may be overlooking details, but the angle a slanted razor provides is so incredibly minimal compared to the examples that explain why slanted blades are so efficient (guillotine has a very slanted blade, the horizontal cutting motion of a knife when cutting an object).
    The angle of the razor blade is just a few degrees: the blade remains virtually perpendicular to the cutting motion: it would appear to me that that small blade angle doesn't warrant supposing that the hair removal is not still virtually 100% chopping but is now much more akin to cutting with a knife instead when compared to a regular DE blade, especially because people will most likely always hold their regular DE blade at least with few degrees off of the perfect 90 degree angle, perpendicular to the cutting motion to the razor.
    I haven't experienced slanted razors myself and I may overlook (other) mechanical effects that slanted razors do provide, but based on what I read and can understand, I tend to find it most likely that the perceived added value of these razors are more caused by placebo effect than on onjective improvement. The steep price is an additional incentive to perceive justified added value for those who buy it and understandably have high expectations.
    Again, not being a specialist, I may very well be mistaken, so I'd be interested to hear explanations what effects my understanding lacks which make that slanted razors very much can provide a significanly different (and arguably better) cutting meachanism compared to regular DE razors.

    • @matezz397

      You might not notice it, if you have a soft or average beard. For anyone with a coarse hair it's a huge difference. For me, while using regular razors, no matter the aggressiveness, even Feather will start really tugging after the 2nd shave. Slants don't have that problem.
      When you're slicing something - bread, vegetables - you're slicing it by pushing and pulling. Slants do the same. Regular razors just push. Anyone who says slants don't work probably never owned a knife.
      But that doesn't mean slants are "better", or that you need it. Some people don't need Feathers. Some do. Some can shave with Treet Carbons (and they're lucky, because they're quite cheap). Some people would bleed out because Treat Carbons would tear out their hairs instead of cutting them.
