Good video Dave. Use some coffee filters to strain that old stuff and keep using it till it's gone. I usually use a little gun oil after it dries.

Does it seem to make the metal darker?

Looks pretty good. Wonder if ultrasonic vibration would make a difference? Thanks for the review!

Very good review. Do you have to coat the stuff with an oil or anything to prevent it from rusting again? I always just used distilled vinegar..... but you you have to soak your stuff for days.... LOL....

dont use vinegar it is acidic and will make it rust again. Use a base like soap or something else to stop the process.

@@SakakiDash Yes its acidic, and thats exactly why it works. Many of the rust converter products are 25% posphoric acid. And the black result is part of what makes a good result.

@@jimwithheld7217 I work in the chemical industry. I know exactly what I'm talking about. After you derust you always need to neutralize the piece or it will continue rusting with even increased speed.

Thanks Dave. Questions: does the product always turn the metal black? Can the black be gotten rid of? I have an old gun barrel that has a lot of rust, but it is supposed to be silver bare metal.

The black result is good. Its part of what provides ongoing protection to the metal. Except of course if what you are wanting is a cosmetic end result.

I think you need to let it sit in the solution for 24 hours.

It does make the metal black if left in over night…the black can easily be removed using a wire brush….but that kind of defeats the object…..it removes the rust ok, leaving a grey colour which eventually goes black…
Has Anyone found anything to easily remove the black coating apart from brushing?..

I've used a pressure washer with decent luck, most recently sprayed this product on some brake rotors and pressure washed after about 25 minutes of continuous application with a spray bottle (they were still on the truck) followed up with some cheap oven cleaner.
