    Good video Dave. Use some coffee filters to strain that old stuff and keep using it till it's gone. I usually use a little gun oil after it dries.

    Looks pretty good. Wonder if ultrasonic vibration would make a difference? Thanks for the review!

    Is it safe to use evapo rust on zamek??? Zamek is a metal, very similar to aluminum, and most commonly used for pulleys.

    I use evaporust in stuck vintage tractor engines, works great . I pour a few cups in each cylinder let set for 2 days it loosens the rings and rust unlocks the motor. Make sure to really degrease your items first before soaking small parts, it will help make your evapo last longer

    Does it seem to make the metal darker?

    Hey Dave that looks like a pretty good product to get rid of rust. Thanks for the review.

    Does it neutralize the rust? So if i paint over it will it keep the metal from oxidiezing?

    • @VinceTomJones
      @VinceTomJones 2 місяці тому

      Yes.... if you are going to paint it for show wipe it over with a old t shirt after rinsing it in quite warm water... if you end up with white spots from the treatment.. use Metho instead of quite warm water before painting. Prime with Zinsser Smart Prime....

    Very good review. Do you have to coat the stuff with an oil or anything to prevent it from rusting again? I always just used distilled vinegar..... but you you have to soak your stuff for days.... LOL....

      dont use vinegar it is acidic and will make it rust again. Use a base like soap or something else to stop the process.

    • @jimwithheld7217
      @jimwithheld7217 6 місяців тому

      @@SakakiDash Yes its acidic, and thats exactly why it works. Many of the rust converter products are 25% posphoric acid. And the black result is part of what makes a good result.

      @@jimwithheld7217 I work in the chemical industry. I know exactly what I'm talking about. After you derust you always need to neutralize the piece or it will continue rusting with even increased speed.

      Unless you are going to paint it DONT RINSE IT...... You will only have to do it all over again in a few months,,,, If you get white spots on it give it a light spray with Methylated Spirits...

    Thanks Dave. Questions: does the product always turn the metal black? Can the black be gotten rid of? I have an old gun barrel that has a lot of rust, but it is supposed to be silver bare metal.

    • @jimwithheld7217
      @jimwithheld7217 6 місяців тому +2

      The black result is good. Its part of what provides ongoing protection to the metal. Except of course if what you are wanting is a cosmetic end result.

    • @VinceTomJones
      @VinceTomJones 2 місяці тому

      The blackness depends on the carbon content of the steel

      I guess if you've got a big enough pan and a small enough car, go for it. 😃

      Ed China from England of Wheeler Dealers fame soaked his mates rusted Range Rover chassis in a big tub of evaporust. You can see this on you tube. The evaporust did a great job. I tested some ER on a pair of rusted Makita drill chuck keys. Look as good as new. Regards B

    It does make the metal black if left in over night…the black can easily be removed using a wire brush….but that kind of defeats the object…..it removes the rust ok, leaving a grey colour which eventually goes black…
    Has Anyone found anything to easily remove the black coating apart from brushing?..

      I've used a pressure washer with decent luck, most recently sprayed this product on some brake rotors and pressure washed after about 25 minutes of continuous application with a spray bottle (they were still on the truck) followed up with some cheap oven cleaner.

    I think you need to let it sit in the solution for 24 hours.

    Re-Usable - Very Very much so - even when rusty looking. Readers when done - Pour it back into the container 😂
