Today we go to one of the most important places on earth. The one and only province of champagne. The city is called Reims and home to our restaurant for today L'Assiette Champenoise.
It all started in 1975 when Jean-Pierre Lallement and his wife Colette opened a restaurant.
This restaurant has 3 Michelin Stars since 2014.
We go for the 6-course Emotion menu for 355 euros. The start was so memorable with the best starting dish ever. It gave me goosebumps!

Cheers! 🥂
hi alex!
can I ask if you make a review video for every 3 michelin star restaurant you visit? and how long does it take for you to release the video after you visited the place?
thanks as always for making these videos!
I discovered your channel last week and was going to recommend Central in Peru even though Michelin often neglects South America, and then I saw that you were visiting them! Central is a celebration of Peruvian techniques and ingredients, they even have their own research team to find new ingredients in our country, I'm eagerly waiting for your video on them.
Safe travels to Singapore. We’re waiting for you in Lima.
@@Aphex271, I just ate at Central a few weeks ago- very interesting mission and enjoyed a few of the dishes so will be interested to hear Alexander’s review. Regarding the Michelin Guide, I also have oftentimes said that it is shameful that Latin American countries/cities don’t have guides, but learned recently that their expansion (to Rio and São Paulo for example) was the result of the tourism board there paying the company to start making a guide.
how do you afford this? xD
Alex hitting us with another top quality video. This channel will be at 1 million subs by the end of June.
Mans going to sell his restaurant
@@tjmmckelvey I think his goal is to make these videos to gain subs for when his restaurant does hit 3 Michelin stars and promote his own restaurant.
@@Teamtormentor when it hit 3 stars it doesnt need promotion anymore
I love this channel too. I just hope that the more popular Alex gets, he doesn't turn into a monster.
NOPE. SORRY. THE ALGORITHM DOESN’T ACCOUNT FOR QUALITY, UNFORTUNATELY. 😢
This channel is addictive. The content, video, editing, sound, knowledge, opinions. It is such a joy to watch it, I do not even skip forward.
Your commentary on these videos is very valuable. There are other gourmet dining channels on UA-cam but the way you string it all together really makes a difference. I'll be eagerly awaiting your next upload! Cheers to your exceptional videos!
because he's an actual chef! he knows what he is talking about!! isn't it great?! 🤣
@@xocoworld6331 I know he's part owner of a restaurant but I didn't think he was a chef 🤔
wrrr
I love how honest you were with every part of meals.
Finding out Alex isn't French has me questioning my own existence 😂 Loving the videos!!
He’s Hungarian 😊
I also thought that while watching the first videos. It was difficult to tell from the pronunciation
@@vergozero9806 Yeah, I didn't realize that until I did more research. 😂
As a french i could tell firsthand because he doesnt have a terrible english accent like we all do :p
@@mehdislaoui8656 Now, for my untrained American ears, my impression was that his pronounciation of certain French culinary terms was really good! How did it sound to you?
I absolutely love the honesty and the fact that you are experiencing these restaurants and sharing them with us.
A restaurant review and a history lesson on champagne, good stuff. Excellent video as always, looking forward to the Singapore reviews.
Man, that history lesson was sooo interesting! Incredible animations as well! This channel is just too good 😵💫
This channel is quickly growing to be one of my favourites! Keep it up! :)
This is a really beautiful twist on traditional French cuisine. Everything looks so amazing!
Always love these videos. Thanks for sharing this with us Alexander.
The channel I was waiting for without knowing it - thank you!!
I always love the history and insights that you base your videos on. I also love your descriptions of the food, wine and service. You have created a 'formula' that captivates your viewing audience. Thank you from Toronto!
When I started watching it was because you kept appearing on my recommended, now I have changed my view of fine dinning as an expression of the chef and a work of art. Thank you.
Still baffled how you these videos continue to improve, and they were already so good.
You will reach the millions upon millions of subscribers. Its just time. Be prepared my dear friend for your channel is going to blow up very soon 🎉🎉. 🙏⭐
Brilliant video. Thanks Alex for bringing us on your amazing culinary journey
Alexander, thank you for this level of quality in your videos. My wife and I used to travel more before we had children and before Covid hit my business hard. These videos give me a sense of travel and adventure. It’s a touch of living vicariously but more so it helps remind me of why I continue to work hard to get back to being able to travel and eat at wonderful places like you share. I appreciate the work that goes into making such content. We are planning a trip to your restaurant in our (hopefully) near future. Keep up the good work.
I'm not into gastronomy but something about these videos, maybe the quality or the commentary, just makes me want to watch more and more.
This channel just keeps on delivering!
The magnum champagne information was very insightful! Keep up the hard work!!
In Australia we are just waking up and what a wonderful way to start the day, with one of your brilliant videos. Thank you so much for sharing your dining experiences.
The whole family are just so nice ans pure class! I've been fortunate to take care of them many times in Paris
Makes my mouth water everytime. Probably thee best food channel on youtube. I love your sophistication.
I'm subscribed to a countless number of channels here, but this is a first one where I've actually watched all the videos start to finish, and subscribed with a notification for a new one. I also love that this video is slightly longer than previous ones, I think around 10 minute mark is ideal.
I love Alexanders analytical breakdown, his beautiful narration and how high the quality of the videos are, great channel, just wish I had the money to visit so many of these places!
I love your evaluations and honesty. I also appreciate all of the details you provide.
You Have dominated the culinary youtuber world for sure. I genuinely believe you have done something great! i love your videos and i cant wait to try the places you are recommending!
I really really enjoy this channel. The videos are informative and fun and I'm really excited to see where else you go
Loveyour reviews. The presentation of the food here was the best ive ever seen. You will grow big on youtube fast.
A great amuse bouche is the absolute must for a great meal, for me. It sets the tone for an amazing meal and night with friends/family. This is absolutely stunning. My. Lord.
Wow ! Just the look of that fish ! That's why the word 'translucent' was coined ! Thank you, Alex ! A feast for the soul !
Great Video as always, you are getting even better! I like the little Animation about the History of Champagne, it was a welcome surprise to learn something. Keep going and this channel will be in the millions soon. I can't wait for your review of the Rutz in my hometown Berlin. Cheers.
I'm so glad you did L'Assiette Champenoise (i was waiting for it !), where I had the privilege to eat last summer (best gift ever for my birthday by my wife). We ate at the marble table.
It was the first and only michelin star restaurant I did ; so I totally agree with the feeling of having being hit by a freight train with the starter ! It was our favorite dish of the whole menu. I think the pollen might have a lot to do with this unique and unusual flavor...
Unless they have change the recipe, I don't think it's lemongrass with the beetroot, but lovage (livèche, in french), the ancestor of celery (or maybe there is both). I never tasted lovage before, and I loved it, the balance with the beetroot was amazing.
The service was near perfect for us, except one unfortunate joke by a service member (when I was in the restroom he told my wife he hoped I would come back and not run away without paying). Some lack of elegance indeed, but it was an isolated mistake. Everything else was incredible (I took the wine pairing but it wasn't the same wines as yours, personnaly I had nothing to complain about from the start to finish).
L'Assiette Champenoise has got for 2023 the 2nd best note for the best restaurants in the world by La Liste. They also won the special prize "Ethical and Environnemental Responsability" ; every organic waste is reused as fertilizer for their vegetable garden (after dehydration). I'm not a die-hard environmentalist by any mean but I find it pretty cool and full of common sense.
It's a pleasure to watch your videos, your commentary is a really good balance with enjoyment and respectful review.
(sorry if my english is not perfect)
Wow! To give such high praise to the opening dish, as it being the best dish you have ever had, are words you dont mean lightly. Great commentary😊
Another great video 🎉 I lived in Reims before so it was such a cute coincidence!
As always, great stuff Alexander! Love and Light from Laos!
The champagne bit was very informative and the animation was top notch. Great video once again Alex!
We are eating here next week, and this beautiful video and your commentary have elevated our excitement ten-fold.
That's why I love this business, worked with Franzen in Stockholm last time so I know the work behind it all but just seeing the result with wine pairing is outstanding. You are really doing something amazing with your channel, it's crème de la crème
Your channes is growing so fast! And its awesome to see your videos are outstanding! Tho i would love to see you visiting your own restaurant and being super honest about everything in there! Bless you
Excellent presentation, and clearly very knowledgeable when it comes to all things wine. Well done!
This place looks so nice and peaceful!
I agree with you Alexander about making a human connection with restaurant staff. No matter how good the food, if the staff are not happy or communicating well with the guest the experience will suffer.
You're a wonderful reviewer, adoring this channel x
I love to listen to your stories about Michelin starred restaurants
your content is really nice and you are so professional, i feel like soon enough you will be very, very more famous than 66k subscribers who enjoy watching your content
I have never seen such high quality videos on such a small channel before. Wow
Yeeeeesss.....another quality upload. Thank you
What a beautiful video and meal. it gave me goosebumps.
Great video and useful comments, I am reserving this restaurant for my trip in Champagne as this experience seems outstanding!
What a Video! As elegant as the Food deserves
Excellent video and fantastic presentation. I thank God for those financially blessed people who could enjoy and savour such gastronomic feast. May you continue to be blessed to be a blessing to others. Que Dieu vous bénisse et Bon Appetite
This restaurant looks absolutely amazing, lucky you!
Szokás szerint minőségi és érdekes videó! Köszönjünk Sándor!
Your outro song gets me every time hah. Great video as always!
you were just celebrating 60k this week and you are now at 69k congrats! hope you are enjoying Singapore (unfortunately it is crazy hot right now)
Honestly the story behind the restaurant is really heartwarming, it's as impressive as the food.
Love your videos, I’m currently at 17 1 star restaurants and have done 4/5 3 stars in London. Went to Helen darroze yesterday and got a private tour of the kitchen
Thx for all your wonderful helpful video's 🎉
Thank you,brilliant video.yum
These videos are incredible!!! Can't wait for your channel to hit 100k >:)
I ate there in May 2022 with the champagne pairing. Still one of the best meals of my life and as a Champagne amateur who goes back to Reims every year, the champagne selection for the pairing was impressive.
So excited to see your take on Lasarte, one of my favorite 3 star in the world. Close to AbaC, the most disepointing 3 stars of my life.
The white pedestal chairs are so 1980s. My husband and I still have a set.
I like how you describe the dishes and how you don't always like everything. If I'm ever gonna dine at one of these places I need to build up my alcohol tolerance.i would be hammered before I got to the cheese trolley.
I enjoy yr presentatie and feel i am sitting at the table haha although still hungry. Subscribed
I have sepcial experience thanks to your video. Please release many times . Thank you
Mr. Alexander's content is so addictive.
Thank you for another great video! I have watched every you have made so far. It its amazing to see how you get better and better with every video. This channel is the most refreshing I have seen in a long time. In your first videos your intro seemed a little bit flashy and as if you are trying to show off. In the newer videos you have toned it done quite a bit, which goes much better with the theme of the channel. You also explain the dishes in much more detail and more calmly, plus the camera work has improved significantly! At first the camera was very shaky and you did dizzying turns and angle changes, now you only show clear pictures and better angles.
Keep up the great work and your channel will explode!
Very entertaining and insightful vidoes (as always)
I love the honesty
watching his videos make my instant noodles taste exquisite
Great videos. I would love to see your take on some 3 Michelin star sushi restaurants.
i know not the most professional way to go but...i liked the Video before i started watching, knowing we again have some high quality content to witness - keep it up!🤙
Very nice, i will be surprise with the hof van cleve report. i will go before he closes.
would love to know more details such as why you thought the first pairing wasn't that good. Keep up the great content :)
You elevate fine dining to an art form. I watch your videos right next to film critiques and history documentaries.
I was there last week, can say that was an amazing dish
Love it! We have booked for this fall. Please consider going to the French Laundry! Cheers Donald.
Really interesting to hear your critique, saying what you like and what you didn't like so much.
This actually looked great!
thanks for sharing again,
“plus there is more to go around…”
Perfect.
#greatcontent
Would love to try it!
L'Assiette was already on my wish list and as we are near Reims at the end of the year we decide to take the plunch and made a reservation for lunch. They can thank you :-)
tbh, 500 euros for all the food, experience, service, ambience and history is a steal. the food represents the history, creativity and knowledge of the chef and the restaurant - transcending the actual food itself. Edible ART!
Thank you Alexander🍽️
A couple dishes sounded pretty good, especially the tomato 🍅 dish, that sounded spectacular, I bet it even had some fresh herbs like basil and oregano to make the flavours pop...
I stayed here in April 2022. The hotel’s design is wonderful 20th century modernism, and the restaurant was sublime. Reims is a worthy destination in its own right.
Such an underrated channel.
Hello Alexander -- I love your channel. What a great reference, and thanks for creating it. I always wonder how long the meal lasts during one of your meals (sorry if I've missed it in the videos I've watched). Is it possible to mention that in each video? I'm always curious about how long some of the several-course meals take. My experience is France, and I've often been at the table for 6 hours for dinner menus with several courses. How are Michelin-star restaurants trending when it comes to time to complete a meal? Thanks!
It looks so delicious 😍😍
Love it

"I love the layout"
I love this channel.
Great channel, content and videos.
Id buy stock in this channel if i could. Its going to the moon 🚀 excellent quality.
I chuckled a little when he mentioned he "missed the elegance" while his shirt sleeves were rolled up and needed some ironing.
