As a father to a daughter myself, I applaud you sharing the experience with her. These are the memories both of you will remember forever. Food is powerful.
This channel is quite unique and one I have never seen before. No live sounds from the restaurant, just a voiceover. I quite enjoy the videos, I wish there was a tad more emphasis on each course; although it may be hard to transcribe everything from the menu/“storytellers”. This channel will blow up in the future FOR SURE. 10/10
Unfortunately it will never blow up. His accent is waaaaay to heavy and harsh. Statistically channel with deficient voice-overs, which includes heavy accents, never reach significant success.
It's a little surreal that Heston Blumenthal is at this level of execution and that he and his staff have constructed such a whimsical experience, but every time I see him in a recipe video he's just making, like, some chips.
those chips took four bloody, pain staking days to make! and if you think thats bad he starts making a roast chicken and about three months later its ready!
This is, in essence, a series of episode-esque reviews of some of the best restaurants in the world, and I don’t think you could’ve done this style of content any better. The narration is engaging, the footage is captivating, and the atmosphere is always set perfectly. You have a new subscriber for sure
What a fantastic channel. Very intelligent analysis. It's tricky to talk about this level of restaurant without verging into pretentiousness but you manage it with grace. Well done and thank you
As someone who loves trying out new restaurants along my travels, your channel has been a godsend. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode and got a little emotional at the end of it, having two toddlers at the moment and always wanting to be a better parent, I found your words inspiring. I am absolutely going to try my hardest to go to this place with my wife for the next UK trip
This is one of the best YT videos I've seen. And I've been around! Your presence, choice of words, pace and music choice (as a sound designer its greatly appreciated) is second to none. Wow.
This is why Heston Blumenthal is my personal chef hero. He doesn’t just feed you. He uses food to take you on a journey to another world and gives you an unforgettable experience. It really is my dream to dine here one day.
I was watching these videos thinking they were absolutely viral with millions of views. The quality is immaculate, and the actual content even more so. I'm really hoping to see more, and for your channel to get the attention it deserves
My daughter was born just over a month ago, and your passage of the children's room made me tear up! Can't wait to plant little seeds for my daughter soon as well
Relax hes incapable of comprehension at the moment. The seed analogy hit me. And hes showcasing it: had Blumenthal's parents hadnt introduced fine dining to him at 15yo the fat duck wouldnt exist. Thats awesome storytelling with actual gorgeous miniature
Its been a few years since I ate at the fat duck and it looks like enough has changed for a re-do. The theme was a day at the seaside back then and the menu was a map not a book. Easily the best restaurant experience I have ever had.
I have really been enjoying your videos. I like how, despite having been to so many high class establishments, you are still suitably impressed by the quality, and appreciate your attention to detail. Very well done and thank you for taking us on a journey with you.
I just wanted to say, as many others have done, what a wonderful UA-cam channel this is. What really sells it is your editing, your ability as a storyteller, and also your humility and honesty. I think the Fat Duck is an experience your daughter will never forget, what a wonderful opportunity to share in something you love. Yours is now one of two channels I am subscribed to for coverage on Michelin restaurants (the other is GourmetBGourmet, who does not have your descriptions but offers a super candid recording).
I've just binge watched a few of your videos and now subscribed. Think the production, review length and critiques are all really lovely pitched. It's lovely to see your conclusion and the fact you enjoyed the meal with your daughter. I first got into food and drink seriously as a 19 year old, when on holiday I tried a wine and food pairing adventure on a cruise ship, and it made me realise how fun and creative you could be with taste profiles and how much food and drink could play off each other. I went on that tasting with my mum, and for her 50th, I treated her to a visit to The Fat Duck. It was incredibly expensive for me at that point in my life, but it was a long term wish for her to go there, and I'm glad we did, as a few years later she sadly passed away. I'd have regretted not having that memory, and it's one of my favourites as she was so happy. Interestingly, a few months ago my wife and me had booked Coya, a decent Peruvian in London. It's rare for us to get away for nice dinners with work and child, but sadly our childcare fell through. Still, we decided the menu could work and they were kind enough to make a very last minute change for our 3 year old. She had guacamole and crab tacos, and we'd later learn from nursery that she had spent days excitedly telling them that they had made avocado "just for her" (they make it at the table), and she was so sweet about it that the chef at her nursery basically replicated it for the kids. It's probably too young to truly remember, but I wonder if a seed was planted.
Visually stunning and eloquent commentary, really clean and crisp video. I can imagine that it is difficult to capture (or recall) the feeling or emotion a person goes through whilst eating such divine food...so kudos to you for coming close to a perfect narration :) Excited to see more from this channel !
The review compliments the quality of the Fat Duck . Alexander is an excellent story teller ,excellent comments ,photography . I would have thoroughly enjoyed a touch more detail ,but I am sure you covered the highlights .
I found myself tearing up towards the middle. The combination of music paired with being able to share that experience with your daughter must've been really something. Happy to live vicariously through these videos, lord knows I can't afford it 😂
I absolutely agree!!.... This was my first view of this channel and I'm not really a foodie guy and I don't get 'poncy' good but this video was great... The father and daughter, the setting of the restaurant and the food lookd so incredibly beautiful.... This video was an experience and I'll admit I'm jealous!
Absolutely brilliant series. I also really enjoy that you introduce your daughter to these unforgettable experiences. It reminds me of how hard my mother worked to be able to afford similar dining experiences for me.
I would like to give this channel 10 stars. But i can only give you one like per video... Great content, great storytelling. Never seen a rating of restaurants or anything else this calm but professional, precise and detailled. Thank you Alexander. Keep on the fantastic work. All the best 👍
What an experience - absolutely priceless ! I especially love the fact that Alex took his daughter with him to this marvellous restaurant; hopefully this planted a seed in her, as his parents planted a seed in him decades ago. Wonderful !
Went a few years ago with a friend, it was such a memorable experience. Lots of delicious food, not just fancy gimmicks. Cost a small fortune so I imagine that will be my one and only visit. Great video by the way.
In this particular case, I would not mind splurging. It's an experience you will remember fondly for years to come so it sort of pays off that way. Compared to a lot of other things, this seems reasonably priced to me in terms of how unique and magical it is.
I went just this weekend gone. Spent the fortune but regret nothing. Even the dishes that disagreed with my palate were noticing short of brilliant. I am lucky and blessed to of been able to do this but I am so glad I did.
Yeah... This channel is going to go far. Truly a great job and I get the feeling that the quality of your videos is a direct result from your love for fine dining. Keep it up and keep doing what you love. I'd really like to see you try KOKS in the Faroe Islands when they reopen or Mirazur in France, since they are the only restaurants with more than one star I've had the opportunity to enjoy.
I just watched another ten videos from your brilliant channel and I cannot believe that after seeing allllll those exquisite, gorgeous dishes… I’m about to go the my kitchen and have a cucumber sandwich 🤦🏻♀️

I've just found this channel - only one thing I'd like to see is the behind the scenes - how they create the dishes because I love to learn!! Loving your presentations Alexander

You're clearly in a very unique position with a very unique skillset and budget. Seems like the perfect storm for an amazing channel. Keep up the good work. I'm excited to see more.
What a fantastic channel, precise and to the point whilst still taking the time to amply describe the setting. My only slight criticism is that I wish he would be slower showing the food. They write what it is in the language it is in the menue, while also telling you in english. This is fine but if you see writing you always tend to try and speed read it, so sometimes miss what he's saying and the image goes by so rapidly that your left wondering what it was and even what it really looked like close up, if your concentrating on the written words.
It's very creative brings the theatre of fine dining to the plate on the table heston has a majestic mind of perfection every dish is magical never to be forgotten
Good to have seen this. I heard about this restaurant years ago. How it was voted as the best restaurant. Heston is smart in how he formed his restaurant. Using visual design besides what you are eating. Design is crucial in everything! I had an incredible design teacher in a great private Arts college, and he would tell us students that quite often. That design will and should be used in everything created. He was right. It’s also great you took your daughter to this. The memory of that will be with her always.
Thank you for sharing this mesmerising experience with us, Alexander! I am sure there's lots of wine geeks, like myself, who have been watching this and are dying to know what other wines you were served with the Wonderment wine pairing!
I’ve really enjoyed the videos, including this one. I was just at The Fat Duck a few weeks ago for lunch with my family and had the same menu in the video. Sadly, the Wonderment wine pairing that day was £1990 so I went with the Curiosity pairing instead. Still very good, but I was disappointed at the vast gap between the pairing options. Despite that, a very special experience.
Heston is an absolute legend. My one regret from my time living in London/UK is not making it to the Fat Duck. Love this review and so pleased it lived up to expectations.

Truly incredible video from a great channel already. So joyful and pleasant, while remaining honest and insightful. This is what makes UA-cam worth visiting.

WoW, so cool you did this with your daughter, thumbs up!! It is so high on my list, still didn’t manage to get here! When do you come to the Netherlands to visit “de Librije”? Looking forward to your next episode!
On my last trip to London 2011, I managed to dine at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. It was a fantastic experience. Didn't have time to make it to the Fat Duck, but I definitely need to now.
I just found your channel randomly and now i'm happy that i discovered it as a young chef would really love to hear the stories behind the best restaurants in the world. Definitely subscribed
Some people are gonna whine about the food, but this restaurant is the prime exemple why you go to these restaurants to live an experience. And i think Alexander encapsulated it pretty well.
Cooking is also an art form. Nothing wrong with your regular cheeseburger with fries to haute cuisine. At this level, you're not really paying to just get fed, you're also paying for the experience and eating food cooked with high technical skill and creativity. It's understandable most people would wrinkle their brows at these expensive and sometimes sniffing-their-own-farts attitude. But it's really not any different from a car guy getting extremely excited about particular cars or a sports fan memorizing stat numbers and each player's history and performance.
it's fun that I found this channel with the video of Geranium and right after he deliver the one of The Fat Duck. just because are the only 3 michelin star restaurant I worked in
Loooove your content! I always wondered how these restaurants look and feel, and you are so good with presenting them, it almost feel like we're there with you! Also I can't believe that you manage to pack everything in under 10min videos, feels like they are at least half an hour long. Greetings from Serbia, we don't have restaurants with Michelin stars yet, so it's really exciting for me that I can see them, detailed like this, thank you so much ❤
Great channel, I've always been interested in fine dining, but never had the economic chances to do so. Looking at your videos is like living the experiences with you. Thank you :D
Hi Alexander, Huge fan of your videos. Structured approach and deliverance is all concise and to the point. Was hoping to find a video with a visit to The Alchemist in Copenhagen. Is this something already done or a future plan? Keep up the good work.
As a teacher is can say that that "planting" part is one of the most important things you can do for your kid. Take em to Paris at 11y olds (not before) for expample (or any historic city city). They will hate it, but they will come back at at later age and love it. The brain registers all at a young age. Dont introduce them, and they wont are as much at a later age or they wont care at all.
As a father to a daughter myself, I applaud you sharing the experience with her. These are the memories both of you will remember forever. Food is powerful.

It's understandable most people would wrinkle their brows at these expensive and sometimes sniffing-their-own-farts attitude. But it's really not any different from a car guy getting extremely excited about particular cars or a sports fan memorizing stat numbers and each player's history and performance.
I was surprised to find out how few videos you have. I love your content! I can't wait to watch more from you
I like that it isn't just about sitting there and eating, but that you also take a moment to talk about the chef in question.

Your daughter is going to be so refined and knowledgeable and creative!
Hi Alexander,
Huge fan of your videos.
Quickly becoming one of my favourite channels 👌
