As a person living in Germany and one who loves the German people and culture , the joke on Germany is very offensive and hurting to say the least .Every nation has dark history , we have realised our mistakes and made amends and moved on . Probably what RDJ felt on stage is what all Germans felt , Kudos to Sandra Hueller who handled that with grace and dignity. There are some boundaries one shouldn't cross and stupid Kimmel in the act of trying to be funny had crossed that line.
Nah. You should be able to joke about absolutely every single topic out there; it’s just comedy. (Although! - I do also believe in “time and place”, and I suppose that’s something that could be argued, in terms of doing that sort of joke during an awards ceremony like this 🤷🏼♂️ but other than that, I see no problems)
The RDJ joke fell flat. Even RDJ didn’t know how to facial expression for that one. And Jodie Foster looks incredible. Actually she should’ve won for Nyad. If she and DeNiro both won that would’ve been a full circle moment. Loved the end of this. The best part. Acknowledging the behind the scenes crew as you rarely hear that. And the fact that the whole place stood up and cheered shows the actors are well aware of it. They are working with them side by side for months on end.
Pretty safe monologue from Jimmy. He balanced it out pretty well (between making safe jokes and going "a little too far" a couple of times) to avoid controversy, but I would have loved if he went after the audience a bit harder. Loved that he called out directors for their attitude during the strike, and Hollywood in general for being elitists. Don't think this monologue will have people mad on Twitter.

@@Rand0mN0rwegianGuy if u r suggesting that politics should be left out of everything then my friend u r one of those conservative snowflakes who get outraged about everything
Boy did Kimmel bomb with that rectangular pocket joke
Yeah… that one was maybe *too* crude :P although it’s all a bit subjective obviously. But it wasn’t even remotely funny either tbh lol, kinda like “…uh, ok” hahah
@@Rand0mN0rwegianGuy exactly and Robert Downey Jr's reaction said it all " Like WTF?? " loll

I freely admit that I don't get the joke, and am scrolling comments hoping someone explains it. Blame public schooling, i guess?
@@wittynicknamehereit’s a common joke, “is that a rocket in ur pocket or are u just happy to see me”
That broke back mountain reference 😂
That Foster & de niro joke was so apt 😂
I cringed.
Stolen from Ricky Gervais' joke about Leonardo & his toddler-aged girlfriends.
you know that joke was stolen right? Kimmel hasn't been funny in 20 years
@@xxxxx409, I dunno, when he's attacking Trump, I get a real kick out of that.
@@Ottee2 I would agree but liberal media single handedly giving an election to this clown by reporting/covering him 24/7, despite being banned on most socials, is more cringe than funny.
RDJ tapping his nose and everyone knowing immediately, risky and distasteful joke and it was taken well 😂.
what does it mean can you explain
does it have anything to do with his addiction on coke
does it have anything with his previous addiction
@@nameism7md yes, it's about his coke addiction. To which since recovery he's always made jokes about it and shared how it changed his life.
I think he was saying the joke was too on the nose and not a very good one@@kr6productions
RDJ handling it like a true professional and man of the arts
The intro of the union folks was a really classy thing to do.
and about time too! they couldn't do their jobs without all the workers on set,
That Foster & de niro joke was so apt
best part when the behind the scenes labor were on the stage
I love that they showed the workers.
Yes Jimmy - love your endorsement of the righteous SAG-AFRA UNION work!
He did good work with the other late night boys, strike ⚡️force five!
Jimmy Kimmel is that Man !! He spoke up when no one didn't, stood up when everyone sat down , 💪🤝
Nice to point out the real workers, the people behind the scenes that make it all go.
RDJ handled that well. That said Jimmy showing appreciation for Barbie was great. They all should have been nominated
Jimmy was wrong for that RDJ joke. Addiction not funny but RDJ handled it well.
@@jjcyber278 when was his addiction anyway? I don’t think about him when I think about drugs. I think about Charlie Sheen!
nah
@@jjcyber278 My problem with Kimmel, usually is - only that although it *can* be pretty funny, he should honestly just leave all of the US politics-related stuff out of the Oscars - because even though it can be pretty funny, as I said, it just riles up people and angers people waaaay too much, I mean it’s just such incredibly divisive topics; and I seriously fear that the Oscars often will lose big audiences because of it tbh. @@Rand0mN0rwegianGuy you probably are correct, tbh, I have never watched the Oscars or any other awards show except for Grammys, and these comments make me actually want to watch the monologue at least. Little turn of the dagger 🗡️😄
The Germany joke was pretty bad.
I found it pretty funny however I can see how people would say that it’s maybe a little bit “overused” at this point
No, I am sorry, it is not funny at all. I am not ethnically German but live in Germany and you are right in saying it is overused, to say the least. @@Rand0mN0rwegianGuy
Not overused. Tasteless, especially for Germans. @@Rand0mN0rwegianGuy
As a German, I can only speak for myself of course but such jokes are just not funny anymore because I hear it sooo many times. And when Germans say that, Americans react with "Yeah, of course you don't think it's funny because you're German". I mean 🙄. Please come up with something new, just ANYTHING
@@MonteChristo2024 That’s fair! I get that, totally.
"...your guess is a good as mine..." That is Greek for George! LOL!
Used to love Kimmel, but this was SO NOT FUNNY, that most times it was embarrassing. You can see the guests’ faces bewildered. Huge downgrade and degeneration of once high quality humor.
Ms Foster looks amazing 🤩
People with strong bones age well
WOW WHAT A SET! OH! All of them. Great job at the OSCARS , and the lighting fantastic.
The Fabelmans joke was perfection.
And Spielberg’s reaction!!! 🤣🤣🤣 he was great as well during these little “bits”, love Steven

FINALLY someone talking about the crews that make these films ! Many of whom lost their livelihoods (and are still out of work) due to the strikes. Thank you Jimmy
Like he cares
Still there are pay cuts evident for crew , just to show fake sympathy . These hollywood ppl will say anything for money !
RDJ literally saved this man's monologue. He is sooooo lucky he was a support crutch on those lines
Sandra is literally out there making history and the only things jimmy can come up with are to mispronounce her name and making "hehe nazis" jokes
Agree that was one of his worst jones of the night. And Sandra Huller’s reaction to it said it all…… it was not funny at all
@@Allie8567 she handled it quite well actually. rdjs reaction to the jokes at his expense was more cringey
True
Yorgos is as good as mine 😂
Obviously you haven't been on the Twitter cesspool lately... that's a good thing though.
Full monologue. Some attempts at jokes that simply did not land. He’s done his time and thanks for that, but time for someone new.
Meant ‘dull’ monologue.
Yeah no going in on actors and studios still hiring xes assaulting directors etc
Kimmel still sucks. He's like a talented guy who's mind has derailed.
