sadly, that those behind the scenes workers they keep mentioning are usually bad writers, not the true masters, props workers, engineers, stunt safety workers and doubles, safety and medical crew, technicians, the ones that all of whom actually deserve more than actors themselves, but they are paid a bit more than grocery store workers. I have personally been , well not in a hollywood movie, but a local in my country in technical crew as welder. Well , compared to what the writers get, us who actually make the movie possible, and are responsible for actors safety, we get nothing. But well, im glad im not working full time for things like that, because im working for building constructions, and i would never take any job at movie industry to weld anything, because i get like 1/4th per hour of what i can get for actually working on constructions for things that stay there forever.

Calling "Anatomy of a Fall" and "The Zone of Interest" rom-coms in Germany is one of the most distasteful jokes I've heard about the Holocaust and Germany in general on live TV, and for the cherry on top, it's told to Hüller straight to her face, in a theater where you're supposed to pretend it's funny.
I thought Kimmel would not top that level of offensiveness, but then topped it with a remark on Killers of the Flower Moon being so long that one could go and "solve the Osage murders" in that time, when it was actually a genocide and no less.

I agree that it was funny, but tbh… Kimmel should leave all of the US politics-related stuff out of the Oscars - although it can be pretty funny, it just riles up and angers people way too much, it’s such divisive topics; and I fear that the Oscars often lose big audiences because of it tbh. I get that that’s his “schtick”, but he should do that on his talkshow instead, and then keep it more on “the downlow” tbh whenever he’s doing these Oscar monologues etc. Just imo.

As a person living in Germany and one who loves the German people and culture , the joke on Germany is very offensive and hurting to say the least .Every nation has dark history , we have realised our mistakes and made amends and moved on . Probably what RDJ felt on stage is what all Germans felt , Kudos to Sandra Hueller who handled that with grace and dignity. There are some boundaries one shouldn't cross and stupid Kimmel in the act of trying to be funny had crossed that line.

Nah. You should be able to joke about absolutely every single topic out there; it’s just comedy. The RDJ joke fell flat. Even RDJ didn’t know how to facial expression for that one. And Jodie Foster looks incredible. Actually she should’ve won for Nyad. If she and DeNiro both won that would’ve been a full circle moment. Loved the end of this. The best part. Acknowledging the behind the scenes crew as you rarely hear that. And the fact that the whole place stood up and cheered shows the actors are well aware of it. They are working with them side by side for months on end.

Pretty safe monologue from Jimmy. He balanced it out pretty well (between making safe jokes and going "a little too far" a couple of times) to avoid controversy, but I would have loved if he went after the audience a bit harder. Loved that he called out directors for their attitude during the strike, and Hollywood in general for being elitists. Don't think this monologue will have people mad on Twitter.
