Poor guy had the WORST timing to host this show. I know he's not Ricky Gervais but he did pretty good with the situation Hollywood was in at that time.
Before Ricky Seth would have seemed satisfactory. Gervais just came in and tore off all the PC crap. Did you hear him recently on the 2020 Golden Globes? He told the actors that no one wants to hear their political rants cos they dont know anything about whats really going on!! I was like..wow! And so so true! lol

You see a lot of directors or Hollywood bigwigs’ adolescent sons get a free shot doing behind the scenes or crew work on successful TV shows and movies because of their parents. In this case the joke is that the one slacking off is identified to the person asking as “Jeremy Paramount“, a reference to his last name being the supposed family that owns the famous studio (although of course it wasn’t named after a family).

I'm pretty sure they offer it to him every year, he's rejected it quite a few times because he's said if he doesn't feel like he can do a better job every time then he just says no
I was gonna post that just now. Meyers doesn't have timing or wit to throw these jokes. He is simply not funny in any way. Gervais, on the other hand, got me crying from so much laughter when he was hosting.
Why is everyone in the comments so angry. THEYRE JOKES. Everyone has been so uptight in Hollywood. It’s good to have a little laugh and break some ice instead of pretending like all the bad stuff isn’t happening around them. People have got to stop getting offended by everything. Literally your comment about how ur upset is not gonna do a thing. My comment won’t do a thing. Please get over yourselves.
Because they were patting themselves on the back on how woke they are. He literally picked a couple of celebs from the crowd and told them how awesome they are, and made fun of people who weren't there. That's easy, and it wasn't even intended to be funny, so there's no point in claiming """THEYRE JOKES""", because they weren't.
A lot of people in the comments are upset because of all the fake faces, smiles, and forced jokes and laughs. It was all just hating on a certain race and hating on men. If they really cared about the movement so much they would have spoken to the women who came out about what Harvey did before others did instead of waiting until others before them spoke out. They were brave about it as they risked there careers for it. Some of the people in Hollywood truly are entitled. spoiled, and extreme bandwagon followers who lack realness and only show there fake side for the camera's. Extreme hypocrisy in the audience as they want to stop racism and sexism while hating on every white man in the audience. If the roles were reversed and if it was a person of color being joked about the audience would be in an uproar over it. Extreme double standards and unintentionally racism all shown. While there were some funny jokes that he made like the one with Seth Rogan and North Korea or the one about Stranger Things the rest was really cringy, sexist, and racist jokes. I thought some people in Hollywood were better than this but what can I expect. I hope sometime in the future these double standards will go away and racist jokes like these will stop.
11:10 "When you're on a film set you meet hairdressers, and cameramen, and script supervisors doing "American Dream" jobs. Of course we would never invite those people here with us, the Hollywood elites, but if we acknowledge they at least exist that seems good enough for a round of applause."
Yeah, I agree with you! Ricky Gervais would see to it that Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey get beaten with nightsticks by their victims of sexual harassment! Yeah!
It would just be a normal year for Gervais - he was calling these people out long before they got caught. This show was much more family friendly (boring) than Gervais's monologues - and all the worse for it! Still - I like Seth's show, especially the "Closer Look" section.
FielAlManga LoL obviously it was a joke. OBVIOUSLY 13 year olds aren’t being served alcohol. You must be one of those people that doesn’t understand humor and takes everything literally huh? Haha
sux2bu2day Stranger Things kids that are wondering how the story broke on one of them being abused then the whole story disappearing down the memory hole.
Seth is a good guy. He may not have been as great as other past hosts but everyone has their own style, some work and some don't. I'm sure it's tough being up in front of a room full of your award winning peers. It can make a person nervous and humbled by their presents. Good job Seth!
"The Post.. directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep..." (*BRINGS OUT FOUR GOLDEN GLOBES*) And they didn't win... 0/6... I think he brought bad luck

I'm pretty sure they offer it to him every year, he's rejected it quite a few times because he's said if he doesn't feel like he can do a better job every time then he just says no
Ricky Gervais sholud have hosted this year, he would have ripped them a new one!
I was gonna post that just now. Meyers doesn't have timing or wit to throw these jokes. He is simply not funny in any way. Gervais, on the other hand, got me crying from so much laughter when he was hosting.
One word to describe his performance: Brilliant.
if they were ballsy enough to let him say this stuff, why not let ricky gervais host. he wouldve slaughtered them allxd
Thanks for the sexy girls. They sure are sexy. And girls.
Kristen Biles nicely said 😘
Thanks for this moment of sanity in the midst of anonymous teenage ranting
Because they were patting themselves on the back on how woke they are. He literally picked a couple of celebs from the crowd and told them how awesome they are, and made fun of people who weren't there. That's easy, and it wasn't even intended to be funny, so there's no point in claiming """THEYRE JOKES""", because they weren't.
Kristen Biles exactly
Genuinely thought he was about to say the 75th annual hungergames
Emily Price me too ! I was waiting for it and i got excited for no reason !
4:17 Seth’s joke was funny! Daniel needs to stop taking himself so seriously. He’s an amazing actor but you got to be able to laugh at yourself.
Probably worth mentioning that Daniel is British. That's kind of just how we react to stuff.
TheOmegajuice lol that makes sense then.
TheOmegajuice I mean it’s not but ok then
@@theomegajuice8660 I'm english and that ain't how we react to stuff like that lmao
“I’m reclaiming my wine” - Is a whole vibe 😎
Mariah Crews I'm taking your wine away from you.
I can't tell you how many times I've rewound the "No, not yet, we have to wait" part.
11:10 "When you're on a film set you meet hairdressers, and cameramen, and script supervisors doing "American Dream" jobs. Of course we would never invite those people here with us, the Hollywood elites, but if we acknowledge they at least exist that seems good enough for a round of applause."
Bacause of Unions...
Peter Steman wow
I honestly couldn't help but stare at Sebastian Stan when I noticed him sitting at the table behind Tom Hanks with Margot Robbie.
So cool. I love Seb too
Bring back Ricky
If it was Ricky, it would be like a car crash, so messed up but can’t take my eyes out of it.
You mean Paul Walker's?
harsh but fair
He makes it look so effortless. He is a true genius.
13Vide If Ricky hosted this GG, he would’ve had a ball absolutely MURDERING everyone with his hosting.
*All you had to do was follow the damn train CJ*
FunForSameer lool
FunForSameer I am so glad this is the top comment
Oh my god I'm laughing too hard at this
YOU PICKED THE WRONG HOUSE FOOL!
Filipe Teles it's from GTA San Andreas
I thought it was good! Some jokes were so on point haha
seth: “OMG DANIEL ITS A TRAP GET OUT”
daniel: 👁️👄👁️
Hey was great but honestly Ricky would have owned the damn room
Yeah, I agree with you! Ricky Gervais would see to it that Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey get beaten with nightsticks by their victims of sexual harassment! Yeah!
Leon Calero your comment totally owns!
Ricky was far too dangerous for this one, hopefully he comes back soon though.
I thought Seth was perfect.
Darth Clone No! We have to save Ricky for next year after the potential crazyness of 2018!
lol Seth Rogen was like "bro what're you doing. I feel like you're about to expose our secret Hollywood Seth cult"
This was so brilliantly delivered by Seth!
"it won't be terrifying to hear your name read out loud" - cuts to laughing William H. Macy. How about your wife Felicity Huffman Bill?
Exactly what Ricky Gervais hated, a host pandering to these people, he would have been so funny with this
John Gold she'd take it in a stride tho... there's no unravelling Oprah. (...Doesn't mean I also wouldn't like to see it!) 🤣
Exactly.
Seth nailed it, great to see him getting more airtime.
Ha ! Great to see the " jokes Seth can't tell " bit - always funny
Amy Poehler is still an absolute genius
Seth did well, but this year would've been perfect for Ricky Gervais, he is the master!
Jacob Anderson yes!
It would just be a normal year for Gervais - he was calling these people out long before they got caught.
This show was much more family friendly (boring) than Gervais's monologues - and all the worse for it!
Still - I like Seth's show, especially the "Closer Look" section.
they were too scared to invite him this year :)
That would have been fricking amazing!
They can't do that, he would forinstance say something like this, "The award for best Harvey Weinstein BJ goes to..."
5:39 Stranger Things kids know how to take advantage of their environment and make a party, popping bottles at their table.
FielAlManga LoL obviously it was a joke. OBVIOUSLY 13 year olds aren’t being served alcohol.
You must be one of those people that doesn’t understand humor and takes everything literally huh? Haha
A joke requires to be funny.
sux2bu2day Stranger Things kids that are wondering how the story broke on one of them being abused then the whole story disappearing down the memory hole.
The Spielberg joke was the only one that made me lol.
Seth is a good guy. He may not have been as great as other past hosts but everyone has their own style, some work and some don't. I'm sure it's tough being up in front of a room full of your award winning peers. It can make a person nervous and humbled by their presents. Good job Seth!
He was perfect for that year's show. It was a topical year and that's what he does best.
"The Post.. directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep..." (*BRINGS OUT FOUR GOLDEN GLOBES*)
And they didn't win... 0/6... I think he brought bad luck
The gag wasn’t about them winning, it was about the corruption. I think most people missed that, even meryl Streep and ss because they are so into themselves.
@@Rubylove48 Naaahh, it was about the expectation that "prestige" names bring to award-bait movies. The three of them have so many awards between them, and "crusading journos" are such noble cannon fodder.
@@tommytimp okay, may not be exactly what I’m saying but it’s closely related. Everything is pre-scripted and preordained at the oscars. Based on the business of selling a film or selling an identity ✌🏽
@@Rubylove48 This was not the Oscars.
@@tommytimp I’m pretty sure everyone knows what I meant and the overarching theme of my comment but thanks for the correction award show policeman.
I love Daniel Kaluuyas expressions lmao he is not one to fake laughs if he doesnt find something funny
A.M Lash i love how he feels uncomfortable because of all of the white shaming
guy koplowich the...what?
lol
Lol yea he seems real
Meryl Streep laughing. How wonderful, must've thought of Roman Polanski.
hands down - that joke a woman walked into the frame with Globes for Spielberg, Streep and Hanks was the best moment in the history of Globes monologs 🤗
He nailed it!
Who, Harvey?
Seth is the best!!!
I like how he can't go 15 second without talking about race or gender
Charlie Wenger it hard not making joke about the biggest elephants in the room
Charlie Wenger Why those topics rule the world!!!
rushy scoper Yeah but he really piled it on. A couple would've been fine, he spent the entire monologue talking about it.
Every comedian has his own brand of comedy!!!! Learn to accept that...
Seth was amazing
Said his mom.
