a theory of why the vodka was working better then the manufacturer liquid: alcohol evaporates much sooner than water, so the process of evaporation can "steal" energy out of the water and hang out at the top of the reservoir until it cools down. The reason why we use water to boil stuff is because at boiling it holds at 100C exactly and cannot exceed it, here, the vodka will struggle to go past 80C even without cooling
^Isn't that what gopniks are? You think well-educated people would spend a lot of their time drinking, smoking, fighting and committing petty crime on the streets?
@puppy dog If you got pure 200 proof 99.9999% ethanol it will work much better than vodka. Downside is if you drink that stuff you will be totally Peizdec for rest of life. And you can probably rub vodka on top of where your cpu is to get some cooling. Ice packs also work. just remember to keep your fan holes open or PC will totally melt. Trust me. I have done it before.
@@asovietreunion13 I get that this is a joke probably but bathing in vodka where it can evaporate and cool you of that way has nothing to do with a closed loop where it can't evaporate
@@Szabodomi well, it shouldn't. Alcohol isn't a better heat conductive liquid than water (in fact water is one of the best, and very few can outmatch it !) The cooling potential is in fact the thermal capacity. For Ethanol, it is roughly 2438 J/kg/K while water stands at 4185 J/kg/K (If you're not familiar with it, it means you need 4185 J to make the temperature of 1 kg of water increase by 1°C). If we take a Vodka that is composed of roughly 40% of Ethanol and 60% of water, the thermal capacity of Vodka would be : 0.6 x 4185 + 0.4 x 2438 = 3486 J/kg/K that it 83% of the thermal capacity of pure water. The temperatures should be *in theory* 17% higher running on a Vodka cooled PC than Water cooled PC. (I didn't take the Heat Conductivity in mind for this, but the same thinking can be applied : Ethanol heat conductivity is 0.169 W/m/K while Pure Water stands at 0.61 W/m/K, which is substantially higher, making Water a much better heat conductive liquid) The results however shows that vodka is a better coolant, probably because the test were made on stalker and metro, where the blyat power is the biggest
