I love these eBay scammers, I ask them a million good technical questions about the card, then at the end, ask them if it will run windows solitaire. They never answer me again.

TheFirstGameHD does it perform like a 1070, or does it just look like one
@@jatsr it performs like one but it has a horrible fan the fan sounds like a jet engine but thats what you get for buying scams it is a 6 gig one and runs games fine it looks like a rx gpu is being called a 1080 ti but is detected as a 6 gig 1070 and runs like a 6 gig 1070
@@IdiotStinky02 your GPU has been heavily tampered with. But even still, 60 bucks for a 1070 (or 1060) is a steal
He’s probably trying to scam people to save up for a 1080 ti lol
- UPDATE: PayPal payment was stuck in processing for two weeks. Tried everything I could to appeal and ask for a refund, but neither PP nor eBay would allow. The Payment processed successfully two days ago, so now I'm out $100 and waiting 4 days until the seller fails to respond (OFC), at which point eBay's Resolution Center *should* step in.
EDIT: PayPal to the rescue! Took around 60 days, but I finally got it back.
So he or she probably earned the 100$ - could at least have sent a fake card.
IF they never sent you anything ebay will have to step in and refund you after 7 days of waiting and no shipment, and refund you, their refunds take about 10 days to 14 days. The seller also wont get your money even if the transaction processes immediately as its in limbo with paypal/debit/credit card company until you receive the item and even a week or so after that paypal/ebay takes another week to release the funds to the seller. So over all it takes 3 weeks to a month for a seller to get paid for each item they sell. You should get your money back(after the 7 day stipulation)
Science Studio I get you man
I've been selling on eBay for a long time and never once have I ever had to wait for money to reach my account unless the paypal or eBay account was brand new, at which point I had to wait. But immediate payments, for me personally, normally go through immediately to my account.
Steven Jones it takes 21 days to get paid through paypal if you have a new account and are under the sellers probationary period.Source, Ebay community. Guy above was right with the 3 weeks to a month for sellers that are new(like the guy who sold this "GPU") This guy shouldnt be having a hard time getting his money back when seller never even gave a tracking number.
"While you gain experience selling on eBay, access to funds from buyer payments may be delayed to promote successful fulfillment. Rest assured this is a temporary situation. As soon as you meet all of the following criteria, payments from your buyers will generally be available immediately:
It's been more than 90 days since your first successful sale;
You've had more than 25 sales transactions; and
You've had more than $250 in total sales."

Plot twist- he gets a 1080ti in the mail.
I'll give it away if so ;-D
Joe Graham There's a glitch in the Matrix!
If you get anything... Give it away. 🤷
Eren Yaehger yup.............. or the seller meant to enter 989.90, and didn’t realize it until it was bought and full blown tries to disappear.
Or he’s a scammer and it’s all what it appears to be.
It's probably a GT240 with "GTX 1080ti -P.S. totally legit" written in sharpie straight on the PCB.
I assume that they could do the exact same thing and charge $700 for a 1080ti so it wouldn't even look like a too good to be true scenario
The paypal account most likely holds high amounts anything under $100 no hold. I see forums that sell ebay accounts and paypal accounts with no holds pretty fishy stuff.
PayPal holds anything higher than $50 if your PayPal account is new. The hold is for 21 days or the buyer has to confirm item is received to release the hold. Once you sell items for $3000+ PayPal stops holding your money no matter how large the transaction is
I got a 1080 FTW for $780...which is sadly cheap for the times right now but I actually got the product new.
Same thing happened to me with a hotas joystick it was listed at 10% of the msrp price I fell for it and 24 hrs later the Same msg from ebay it looks like is a Kind of a bot 5 days later i got my money back so lesson learned. The only question is did the scammer get the money and PayPal had to absorb the refund?

You realize this is a stolen account right? Whose name on it does not matter.
The scary part was that the seller had 20 5-star reviews and was considered an "excellent seller." Makes me wonder if he sold 20 other kinds of products or if his account was botted.
I bought an I phone 5s for $50 back when it first came out it was just labeld "phone for sale".
With that being said I also bought a galaxy s4 for $230 New but it was a Chinese fake. Had to get with eBay and PayPal on the phone to get my money back. It took a whole month and i lost about $11.75 on shipping.
I sold a GTX 1080 on Ebay recently, guy tried to swap it out with a broken one and demanded a refund. But was dumb enough to send me pictures of my supposed "GTX 1080" with screws missing. Case closed, no refund for him. Point of the story, I would be very vigilant when buying or selling GPUs right now on Ebay.

Ebay is the worst. I bought of lot of 20 Xbox 360's that all were fixable. Receive the Xbox's and they were all dead, so I filed a claim. I won the claim initially, and then proceeded to ship them back. In the time they were in the mail, Ebay decides to overturn their original decision, and change favor in the case to the seller. The seller now has all of the Xbox's back along with my money, and Ebay proceeds to tell me they can't assist me.
danimal when a dodgy seller says "fixable" they mean by buying a new one lol.
always pay with credit card so you can chargeback that way.
No. He provided error codes for each one, and when I received they were dead or not fixable.

This is how RandomGaminginHD gets free graphics cards. He buys something like a GTX1070 for $80 knowing damn well it's fake and he receives something like a GTX750ti instead, then he gets all his money back through the refund process and gets to keep the free 750ti. XD

You should've waited longer and do a full video covering this whole thing. Even tho I myself would never fall for such listings but I'm actually curious what happens, how situations roll out etc. Like what Paypal has to say whether they do or not refund the money. This would be really informative and interesting video.
Be sure to revisit this topic in a few years when a 1080ti legitimately goes for $100 on eBay. That'll be a fun "remember when" video. You're welcome.
LOL
like 5 years or so as current arch was only a slight improvement over Maxwell from 2 years ago
60%+ faster for same power draw isn't "slight improvement" by any means
This is true for 980 Ti (which came out in the End of the Maxwell Lifecycle) and 1080 Ti (End of Pascals Lifecycle). But when you look at the lower offerings like the 1060 6GB and 1070 the 980 Ti is a decent option still (980 Tis are likely cheaper on the used market currently than a 1070 and 1060 6GB. The 1060 is actually slower than a 980Ti and the 1070 (non Ti) is only 2 % faster. Which qualifies as slight.
2020 , all kind of vram suddenly got 500% boosted to support 16k resolution.
1080ti > 20 bucks clean yse and still didn't sell

I remember that time I saw a midi keyboard I wanted for half the price and spent like 3 days thinking about whether to buy it or not. The seller was selling 10, didn't say ANYTHING about the price being low (even though it was half the actual price as said before) and the condition was new. I've decided to gamble for once in my life and I was surprised to find that I got it, it was in the box, unopened, arrived fairly quickly. I just hope the seller knew the average price.

These videos are only fun when you actually get something funny.

almost fool me... i know that you superman
There are TONS of eBay graphics card scams that have their specs altered to be recognized as a newer card when they are actually a modded older model.
This is someone making an account from a different country, using a stolen PayPal account, then trying to sell as many $100 cards as quick as possible and try to run off with the money leaving eBay to hold the bags.
It’s scams like these that have made eBay change how they distribute money to sellers after purchases have been completed. eBay holds on to the money now and doesn’t let you disperse it until they are good that the transaction is complete and both buyer and seller are happy.
If you use Paypal on eBay, your payment is always instantly processed. But refunds through Paypal are always put on hold and take several days to process. The seller has zero control over either of those things. Have you ever used eBay/Paypal before? Because you don't seem to know what you are talking about in this video.
BlasterMaster +1
I have to agree, also PayPal also have their own payment protection and you can open cases with them
The guys a moron for parting with his money in the first place, everything else explains itself!
Not true. PayPal tends to take the side of a seller. I’ve had multiple claims sit for months just to never get my money back. Always use a credit card and just cancel the payment if these people try to scam you.
spencer s As someone who has been on eBay since 2002, and has over 1600 positive feedback, I can tell you right now that is not true. eBay and Paypal generally side with the buyer unless there is a mitigating circumstance, such as if the buyer has a suspicious buying history or if they are claiming they didn't receive their item even though the tracking on the shipment shows that they did. Besides that, eBay has a money back guarantee for most items and a very generous return policy (as in even if a seller doesn't offer returns, if you request a return they have to oblige). So if you were truly scammed, there is almost zero reason that you wouldn't get your money back.
eBay has a system in-place to automatically process your payment if you select it - otherwise you can "buy" an item and leave it sitting for a few days before the seller can decline the sale based off of the fact you haven't paid yet. This isn't a red flag.
One of your better vids. I really hope you list the resolution in the description.

I have told ebay about stuff like this with all the mining going on and it's good to see that still nothing has been done. I also tried this just to see what would happen i got my money back.

Sometimes it works.
I put up a rare video game (several actually) on ebay at low prices and they went through the roof.
Some Silent Hill CD's for example hit $90.00
an Intellivision game hit $90.00 also after I set it at $15.00
I've done this with older graphics and CPU cards (Amiga stuff) and watched people fight and claw over them.
ALSO: Don't buy from users who have a low (or zero) feedback. Look for those that have been around for a while. They are less likely to scam you

A friend of mine fell victim to this EXACT scam here in the UK very recently, apparently the eBay account had been stolen, so the guy running the scam probably got the cash right away. The worst thing about this is my friend is an experienced system builder, or so I thought up to the point where they thought a 1080ti could be had for £70. I couldn't believe they could be that stupid lol.

You'll get your money back... Eventually
He'll make his money back from the views of this video
I likely won't make anywhere close to $100 back from this video alone. So no.
Figure about $1000 per million views in the first 2 weeks. Less views or over longer time periods, significantly less. If this gets 40,000 views in 2 weeks, he might make $20. That's my estimates from people I've talked to. I could be way off... But creators aren't supposed to tell anyone.
With my experience as a long time website runner, ebay seller and paypal seller. The buyer can open a chargeback on paypal 3 business days after the sale if shipping details weren't provided by the seller, and within 5-7 business days they will give him his funds back, withdraw them from the seller and charge the seller a 19.99 USD Charge back fee
Almost did this the other day. My skepticism saved me though.
Damn...I thought you're Henry Cavil for a second!
Vergil7799 no he’s Clark Kent
Fang Wang.
rinzleR R yea cause who doesn't wanna but their graphics card from Fang Wang
JUST DOWNLOAD THE DARN THING!!
I thought he was geralt of rivia for a second
I came across something similar today on eBay and within a few hours the advertisement for the 1080ti's where removed I'm lucky I didn't fall for this
Didn’t know this was even a thing. Totally got scammed!!!! Everything your talking about happened to me about two days ago. I was looking to buy my first ever graphics card for my first ever pc build. Fml
When you make this video first but on craigslist oh well.
Who are you again?
Well I got a gtx 780ti for 17 dollars and no it's not a scam it only needed a bios flash and the seller was thinking that it's dead so bought, fixed it, and happily using it.
If he had listed it as working/used/new then yes it still would have been a scam, even if you managed to solve the issue yourself instead getting money back.
I imagine he sold it as not working, so it is fair enough if someone can fix it.
Another used trick is that an actual package gets shipped. To your address, according to Ebay. In reality an empty package gets shipped to a random address in the same town. When you ship USPS you can actually put a different address on the package itself, while the receipt will show the right address. You will even get a notification that the package was delivered. (true, just not to you) So, when you complain that you have not received the package, Ebay will show the delivery notification and resolve the case in favor of the shipper.
Good video, informational
maybe its just the crypto craze dying
Lol
Hahah wishful thinking
I wish :(
When I purchase anything off eBay and there isn't legit pictures of the card then I'd wouldn't even trust that also look at reviews of the seller and if that doesn't all check out, then I'm not buying through them
Yep, a good rule of thumb is to ask for pictures with a unique code scribbled on paper next to it. And to your other point, the seller had 100% positive feedback. Don't always trust this.
they can just buy reviews or have fake ones. some dude selling chinese $50 970 1gb had 99% positive reviews or some shit like that
lol Yeah they can buy them or make them themselves. Honestly though if you read through them they are pretty generic and can tell if they're fake
they don't even just fake reviews they fake bids too. its probably hard to prove, but i doubt eerybody is jumping on auctions w/ opening bids for $1200 1080 ti's
I bought a brand new gtx260 about 3 or 4 years ago for £100, I think they where about £250 at the time. It was abit fishy so I emailed the seller and he said it would be his mother shipping it as he was on holiday in Brazil or something.
I bought it and received it a few days later and it was perfect fully working brand new and still going strong after all these years!
Honestly I can be such fool when it comes to these kinds of scenarios. This happened to me twice while trying to dig up some good deals for a Nintendo Switch on eBay. 😂😂
"Those of us that know something about computers..."
Pulls out a Macbook.
I'd probably wait 10 years to get a 1080ti for 99 dollars
Greg, at least you saved someone from actually getting ripped off.
I had the same exact thing happened to me. Called paypal and the employee had the same thing happen to him! Don't worry they got tons of calls like this, your money should return in about a month.
"something weak like a 650ti" okay no need to be mean lol I can still get 65 frames in csgo
iam niclikescake well, csgo is a really low demand game.
all my pc can run at the moment is csgo and blender (barely)
that's like saying "I can run solitaire at only 63 fps wtf its strong guys I swear"
Getting a decent framerate in CSGO is not even remotely something to set that bar on.
I got scammed with this recently, instead of a 1080 turning up to my house, I got a 2080 ti. I tried to refund it later on but didn't work...
Yeah in your dreams buddy xD

Had a similar thing buying a £60 laptop. Calling Paypal, they informed me my money would automatically return to be one month after being held, if I had left it, but managed to return my money to me straight away as I called them.
It was very brave of you to do this thing, God Bless you more and will wish that eBay or Paypal refund your money ASAP.
lol
