Screw that dude. I bought a pc from walmart for $300 and it lasted me 9 years. In fact it is still alive! 2 psu's later and a couple upgrades. I moved on though and built my own. But she still live on as a emulator now!

$600, i7 2600 gateway 9 years ago. I just bought an AMD RX 580 for it because the old graphics card can't handle the new games anymore. It's still kicking after so many years.
I got a $500 computer 9 years ago, I have one hard drive failure after 8 years (a week before I planned to replace it and had enough savedup) and it went through a GPU and PSU upgrade until I finally built my own PC for $1,000. It’s incredibly fast compared to what it used to be, but as long as you take care of your PX it will last a long time.
Had a Sempron 140 for over 8 years, yep a 1-core CPU with 2GB RAM and a 160W PSU.
Now have an i5 8400 with 12Gb RAM, and a 290W PSU :)

Yep , you guessed it, Intel is getting my money for one more upgrade cycle cuz I'm not buying 3k series just to upgrade to 5K series later when I can get a 10850K for $399, which is $50 LESS than AMD's 8c/16t CPU that you can't find anywhere. The performance difference is miniscule.

actually when you add up parts on PC part picker, take into account what PC places charge per hour to assemble a PC plus if he bought parts at retail has to add a certain percentage to make money on said parts plus taxes and shipping plus the monitor being about a grand itself and what video cards where going for back then cause of mining, its not that over priced.

Ahmad Vawaid Sulthon 1070ti, ryzen 7 1700x, 16 gb ram, 120 gb ssd, x2 1tb hdd, gunmetal h500p, and msi b350 atx mb. It beats just about all intel CPU’s in price to performance (especially in the workloads I use it for) is still capable of about 120fps ultra on any game I play, and only cost about $1500. As a cherry on top I also have more long term upgrade ability.

What is it with computer parts where people have this notion that their "used" part should get that same price as a brand new part or even be more expensive.

Yet lets say I am totally ignorant for the sake of your argument and I had the option to buy a brand new in box ( shrink wrapped and untouched ) GPU for ( let's say ) $200 which was its MSRP. Then I saw someone selling that same GPU used for who knows how long ( it would be ignorant to believe what someone is saying online. They just want your money ) also for $200. Even some one new to computers can tell that is a bad deal. Parts can age and be abused in many ways. Warranties are not always a given on used parts either. When I buy used it better at the very least be 10% lower than new before I even think of purchasing it.

But you want price markups? Apple charges $400 for putting wheels on the Mac Pro. WHEELS! A $20 addition marked up 20x its actual value. But you want computer spec markups instead of mere accessories, check this out.
The Mac Pro computer they have costs $6,000 at base (yes, it's geared towards "professionals," but that's no excuse given the actual specs under the hood of this machine).
Its CPU is 8 cores. 8. Not 16. Not 24. Not 32 or 64 cores. 8 cores. To upgrade to a 12-core CPU costs $1,000. To upgrade to 16 cores costs $2,000. You can get the 16-core, 32-thread AMD 5950x for $600.
It has 32GB of RAM. To upgrade to a measly 48GB of RAM, just 16GB more than the base model, costs $300. And the RAM is 2133MHz speed. And no. ECC doesn't mean "faster," nor is it inherently more expensive at such a low base speed. To upgrade the RAM to 96GB costs $1,000. You can buy 128GB of much faster RAM for less than $500 from Newegg, Amazon, etc.
To upgrade the 500GB SSD to a 1TB SSD costs $200. To go up to 2TB costs $600. You can buy a 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD that's about twice as fast as Apple's for around $200.
Let's look at a consumer device. The iMac 24" that's their current "big" product for consumers. It has an 8-core CPU, and 8GB of RAM. 8GB. You can configure "up to" 16GB of RAM which means that's as high as it goes. 16 whopping GB.
Base price for this device is $1,300, which seems like a good deal at first if you think that's for the "whole package"... Until you look further at what they're asking for the rest of the machine. Let's look at storage as an example. To get the model that has a 256GB SSD for storage, add $200. To get the 512GB version... add $400. So now you're at $1,700 from a base $1,300 price tag simply because you want 512 GB of storage. Storage is configurable "up to 1TB or 2TB," but the price for that is not listed. Instead they just say "Price varies depending on storage capacity." Why? They don't want you to see how much those storage upgrades cost. Let's go back to the fact that you can buy a 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD for around $200 here.

(Note: the keyboard and mouse together costs $330, though I am not sure why anyone would want a $210 mouse even if it was made by razer and looks cool...)

Depends on what you consider 4K. 4K typically refers to the horizontal pixel density. Technically it's 4K, but it's not what most people think of when saying 4K. Hell, Samsung makes a '4K' monitor that only has a 1080 vertical PD. And it's not exactly cheap.
Psyrecx 4k uhd is 3840x2160. UW is 3480x1600. 4k UHD or UW4k is EXACTLY what people mean when they say 4k.
They do NOT mean 4096x2160, which is DCI 4k, also known simply as 4k technically speaking. That being said, absolutely no one who is a regular consumer is referring to this when they say 4k. Only those who are in the film and video production industry (I don't mean UA-cam, as UA-cam has adopted 4k UHD as their standard "4k") or those who have massive home theaters with screens that aren't far away from the seating use this in any capacity. Is it technically the only true 4k? Sure. But absolutely no regular consumer or even small time producer is referring to this when they say 4k. They are most certainly referring to 4k UHD or UW4k.
When I think of 4k ultrawide it needs to have more pixels horizontally than the 16:9 vatiant. 3840 x 1600 isnt 4k ultrawide.....its slightly better 1440p Ultrawide. If we are talking about a true upgrade over 16:9 4k then the resolution should be closer to 5k horizontally while maintaining 2160 vertical pixels.
So I will say it again 4k Ultrawide doesnt exist becuase it isnt better or offer an advantage over 4k 16:9....unless you want less pixels and less pixel density.

What something is commonly referred to as, and actually is are two different things. Just because something isn't commonly referred to as something, doesn't mean it isn't. Also, just because you in particular don't do something, doesn't mean no one does. You're not the center of the universe.
Any display resolution with a horizontal pixel density at or near 4,000 pixels is technically 4K, it didn't matter what your opinion is of it is. 4K still refers to the horizontal pixels and you cannot change that.
A decent example of this is, Samsung's CHG90 monitor. It's listed as being 4K, and guess what it's resolution is...
Psyrecx No.....That Samsung monitor is 1080p. No one refers to the Asus PG34AQ as a 3440 monitor... its a 1440p.
4k is a resolution *Both vertical and horizonral....not a label. The standard for 4k is 3840 x 2160.....if you dont meet that standard then you are not 4k. Its the same reason why Xbox One X upsacling isnt 4k.
3840 x 1600 thinks its 4k then 1. It comes up short on the pixels 2. It completely misses the point of why people buy ultrawide in the first place....having a larger aspect ratio. That monitor just stretches the image instead of showing off more of the sides.
So in conclusion...youre 100% wrong. Im not interested in this marketing speech.
If Samsung tries to sell you a 1080p monitor and market it as 4k tell them "Im not stupid, thats a 1080p 32:9 monitor."

"Buy yourself a pre-built system for 300 and have it break in 14 months and cry" they say as if pre-built systems are actually that fragile. At $300 you at least have a working system that for most people is inexpensive enough to be replaced in two years or so to keep up with things later, or to be super thrifty with used hardware and get a pretty decent performer on a budget.

EDIT: All but the CPU exceed recommended. Core 2 Duo is recommended (Core 2 Quad+ is best). The CPU still exceeds minimum. Overclocked, the game can run 720p, no AA, no V-SYNC, all Medium with Motion Blur off for preference.

I just put this together on Newegg including a copy of windows 10, an rtx 2080 ti, an Asus 34" $900 monitor and it's less than $3700. I went down to my local pc repair shop and asked what they would charge to build this and they said $300 if I ordered everything and didn't forget something that would make their job more difficult. This brought the total cost of the system to $4000 with much better hardware but sticking to the posts specifications. The 1080ti is unavailable from major retailers so I upgraded my build to a 2080ti and I put the nicest 34" RoG monitor I could find in the price. The Razer Naga Epic Chroma is a mouse and I'm pretty sure it was a mistake in the listing. Had the PC shop ordered all of the parts and included their warranty they would have charged $4200 plus local sales tax. So this guy is asking for an extra $1800 for a pc with outdated hardware. I don't know any SI that would mark up a pc that much without including custom water cooling for the cpu and gpu and custom sleeved cables and even then it still would have only brought the price to about $4800. If this was a truly one of a kind rig in a case-labs case that you can't get any more, with a custom paint job, and unique custom water cooling I might be able to understand the $6000 price tag but not in the state that is listed in the add.
Re-watching this (and proud to do so) , since the owner of this pc (and business) is blatantly butt hurt because he was called out for selling an overpriced pc , not to mention the audacity to try as sue you as a result of calling him out on an atrocious Craigslist deal ! ~ The verbiage used in the Craigslist ad was bad enough to STAY AWAY from said business (Grace Computer and Electronics) .

Dude that RGB adds at least 267.17% more fps in 4K, but only if you run max settings. If you don’t run on max you don’t get the set bonus.

The craziest thing for a machine at this price is that the system was built by somebody in private. Of course he most likely knows what he was doing with that kind of hardware. But you still don't know how he really built it, since he's done it at at home. Some of the components could be damaged or slowly dying already and if something happens you're pretty much screwed - private seller, no warranty. I really don't like these PC configuration shops where you can create your system and let them build it for you. However, they're most certainly building in a professional environment, test the PC and provide a warranty. They're still going to charge you way too much money for it but no 2000$ and you'll get at least some kind of service.

That is why I started watching channels like Science Studio, Linus Tech Tips, JayzTwoCents, Paul's Hardware ETC.... and went out and finally built my own rig ground up. Every time I would look for a decent Gaming PC on the Open Market these guys build a PC that maybe max cost 2 Grand and then want 5 Grand for it. Plus that guy is just a straight up cocky jerk the way he wrote that ad. SMH
you should watch Tech YES City too he is good at hunting cheap pc parts and builds cheap computer that can run games at 1080p medium/high settings he is very entertaining

This comes with zero support or warranty beyond individual parts warranties, some of which may not be transferable from the person who originally purchased the item, so anything he charges above what it actually costs in parts is labor. If you were being generous and said it took 6 hours to build, install OS, and test, even with the worst case scenario for parts costing 4,000, plus 300 for keyboard, mouse, rgb controller and a few fans, he's charging over $280 dollars per hour for his time. Screw you dude, if you had an enterprise network crash, costing thousands of dollars every minute it is down, and couldn't get it back up, the network engineer they would send to fix it as an outside contracted consultant, wouldn't charge that much per hour.

but a cpu 8700k, a 1080ti and 16gb of ram will have trouble playing that game at 4k ultra setting. at a constant 60fps let alone more.
mine doesnt. mine does fine, with the same spec, apart from having 32Gb ram. I get 55 to 72 average in witcher at 4k too, hairworks n all.
wow well I play on 3440x1440 on gta 5 and I have to turn settings down just to get constant 60fps. I also have it installed on ssd, though shouldn't make a difference, but I sometimes get bad stutter in town centre. I am also on windows 10.
