When Chevrolet released the C8 model, there was quite a buzz around the Chevrolet community as many people were pretty excited about a mid-engine Vette. However, following release, several issues came up with the car, with many owners sharing problems faced with the car on the Corvette forum as well as a couple of other spaces. One of the major problems faced with the car was with transmission, and the subject became quite widespread in such a short time around the Corvette space. In truth, these problems were real and it even got so bad that Chevrolet had to launch an investigation into the issue with the idea of figuring out what the problem was as well as to develop an upgrade. While all these might still be like bits or parts of the real story, we've got exactly all you're looking to find regarding the transmission issues in today's video. Stay tuned.

i was about to buy a c8 a month ago,,,,,saw all these complaints about the transmission and went a head a got a lc500 and cant be any happier
Yooooo...im in the process right now buying a 2023 LC500 lexus...I was going to buy a 2LT c8 vette but I hear about too many nightmares with that transmission..I love the look but I don't want the problems..lexus=reliability

@@MrSamPhoenix transmission debris and slippage, electrical with speakers, blue tooth, instrument cluster and infotainment. Also, the front lift went out.
@@rachelm3416 transmission debris?! But wow, you sure they gave you a brand new example? Many time dealers have people who work there thrash a car & sell as brand new. The new owner will not know if they don’t pay close attention. Did the dealer try to help you?
@@MrSamPhoenix we bought our 2023 Coupe new at 3 miles. it's been quite an adventure with trying to get repairs and dealerships being careless with our C8.

I own a 2021 corvette 2LT and my car is currently at the dealership because of transmission problems. Spoke with the service manager today and he stated that my transmission will need to be replaced! Only have 24K miles on it. First American made car I have owned and I waited 18 months for this piece of crap! I'm going back to Mercedes.
After 30 years with GM buying five new Camaro Z-28 s and a new C-5, I went to Porsche 21 years ago and have NEVER regretted it. I even had GM buy back a 1995 Z-28 under the lemon law, but I stayed loyal. I grew up in a GM family. GM never backed me up, and as soon as the warranty was up, GM abandoned me even for issues that it was covering under warranty. When I discovered a paint flaw on the hood of my C-5, GM told me to "learn to live with it." As an American kid, the Corvette was my dream but became a nightmare. I feel sorry for all the people posting here because I was one of you and I know how it feels.
My wife had a Mercedes that was having problems with the transmission lurching forward and sometimes rolling back when letting off the brake to start going forwards when on a very small incline. It only had a couple thousand miles on it. It must be a dual clutch problem. Hopefully, our new C8 doesn't start having issues like our Mercedes did.
Mine had problems since 1000 miles, with the transmission….. gm refused to fix it!
I have a 2020 Corvette that was delivered to me in December 2020. In the 2.5 years I've owned the car, the only problem I had was with the rear view mirror/ camera. I started getting a blue screen whenever I used it and had to be replaced. That was it until I heard metallic sounds coming from the rear of the car whenever I upshifted from 3rd to 2nd or 4th to either 3 Rd or 2nd while I was trying to pass someone traffic. And FYI. I never ONCE WOT'd the car in the 2.5 years I owned it!!! Truth! Anyway, Chevy replaced the transmission in July 2023. When the transmission issues started, I only had 4,550 miles on the Odometer!!!
I have own a lot of brand new corvettes including 2 new C-8 without any issues . How ever many of my club members are experience transmission code errors in their 2019 C7 cars .

I have a brand new 2023 Z06 and mine has been in the shop for a month and a half because of transmission.. am pissed.
After 11 months my 2023 3lt convertible z51 arrived last Thursday. I have yet to pick it up because it didn’t pass the pre delivery inspection, In fact the trans valve body already needs to be replaced. I do not think this issue has been fixed and I’m beyond disappointed with the brand. This will be the third corvette I have owned and after waiting 11 months, upgrading to move up on the list, and dealing with what i’m dealing with, i doubt i’ll ever order another one. The c7 i had, never had an issue and the c4 was used but pretty decent. The c8 is a great looking car, but i want to do more than look at it in the garage. This entire process has tainted my view of the brand and it will most likely be the last one I will ever order and the car will probably be gone pretty soon.

GM unfortunately seems to have a track record of letting problems go on without being truly addressed…As in, not fixing a design flaw if one exists. I was going to purchase one of their Denali trucks but backed out when my research revealed they have had ongoing transmission and driveline issues that have remained unaddressed and acknowledged by GM on an ongoing basis. There is a trend and quite a few videos of owners who sued. Not that I probably could have gotten one anyway due to availability problems, this lead me to ultimately NOT consider a Z06 for a recent sports car purchase. I just can’t deal with a company that operates like this. Why would it be any different with the Corvette? Problems happen, but it’s how problems are dealt with that matter. I also could not accept the likely poor dealership experience I would have. You buy a Porsche you know that a Malibu mechanic is not working on your 200k sports car. There is value in knowing that too.
Just discovered a leak at 4000 miles in my 2023 Stingray. Took it to the dealer and they will hook the car up to a scope and drive it and then will send GM the results. GM will decide how to proceed. I've called the concierge phone and filed a report to try to get reimbursement for payments being made while my car is out of commission. WE NEED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED!!!
That was a Lemon and. I got all my money back love the car bought another one. Transmission problems again.
The check engine light came on 14k they put a new valve body on my 21. At 23k started shifting bad and lost reverse it got a new trans . 53k now still working good.
I have a few friends with C7s, all of them have had transmission problems. If came down to GM using the wrong trans fluid from the factory. Guess who's problem it is...Not GM, they paid for the trans flush them self, at around 500 bucks. GM did admit it was a factory screw up....
That's GM's fault.
The lack of a Manual Transmission with the C8 , is just not what a 'sports' car should be. I know about the Automatic being a faster 'shift' than is possible with manual, and it's more efficent. In my Opinion, and my experience , the manual offers the driver a 'feel' of the car that is desireable with a Sports Car. Just my opinion.
I would not put too much worry in buying a C8. I own a 2021 C8 LT1. I bought it brand new for $64,300. Great engine and transmission. No problems. Here in my town of Scottsdale Arizona I have friends who own new Ferrari's, Lamborghinis, McLarens that have many more problems and repair bills then I ever will with the my C8. I am not really a General Motors fan but I thought they did a good job at an unbeatable price point. Hard to believe but C8 is in 4th year of production now. 2020,2021,2022, and now 2023. They are only building 25,000 per year which for Corvette production is not high. I will not buy or consider a new C8 Z06 because my sources tell me no go at sticker price so the markup will be ridiculous.
It's still a Corvette and just not worth $150,000 in my opinion. Also a flat plane crank is new territory for General Motors as a company and that would make me nervous !

@@carsinreach5318 I bought my car in March and paid Sticker Price, LT3 for 76 grand with all the options I wanted, even picked my color and interior. There are people buying and hording and not driving them thinking it will go up in price.........I doubt it...when the Z06 comes out, the C8 normal regular car will depreciate like any car, but like maybe a Hell Cat, retain a high resale value, but they won't exceed thier initial list price....there are about 100,000 of them built now in three model years and a pretty healthy supply of them.
How smooth is the transmission?
@@MrSamPhoenix my cousins brand new 2022 c8 transmission broke with 3400 miles Chevy said they only have 6 parts in the whole country to fix it so there buying back the car and giving him a brand new 2023

Got 2023 brand new had it for less then a week only drove it 3 times and it's needing a new transmission... So it's currently sitting in the shop..
Just dropped off my 2023 C8 for a transmission issue. My car does not want to cruise smoothly between 1500 and 2000 rpm. It doesn't seem to matter which gear.
I just got a leak on c8 2023 with 3500 miles from transmission filter, part are on back order.
At 1st, I was really upset that I didn't get a chance to order my 3rd Corvette, because of allocation issues, but in hind sight, I'm so happy to not have made that purchase! I had a grave of a time when I bought my 2013 GS 60th Anniverary Edition. Chevy didn't stand behind the Issues I was having and I tried to do a buyback due to the issues. I ended up Trading for a 2016 Stingray Z51 Magride. Loved that car. It got totaled. Was waiting for the 2022 Model C8, but purchased a BMW instead. LOVE LOVE LOVE my BMW. Never had it on my radar, but once I drove it, I WAS SOLD! I may buy a C8 HTC down the road when the issues are gone and the prices are reduced.
The Stradman’s C-8 Z06 with Z07 trim corvette has a transmission leak and he just took delivery of his.
2022 2Lt sometimes locks in second when high acceleration in touring mode.
My 2020 C8 needed 2 transmission replacements in less than 3 years. Just picked up a 2024 Z06 on Tuesday and with 169 miles (2 days later) got a transmission hot alert and would not go into drive. Long story short I need a new transmission in 2 days. DCT problems are NOT resolved!!

14K on my 2020 Coupe...light came on with no symptoms. Long story short, waiting for new transmission but can still drive car in the interim. Disappointing but I have really enjoyed the car up until this problem.
I am planning to buy C8 2023 3LT one but I am not sure after I heard the transmission issue from some customers and my friend who has Corvette before. He suggested me to buy Z06 between 2009 - 2013 cause that one is the best Corvette he had so far while waiting Chevy solving the transmission issue. What do you think about it ? Should I wait or go with new one ?
My daughter picked up her 2023 C8 this past Friday and on Sunday the transmission started to jerk and then the check engine light came one. Took the car back to service and they stated the transmission needs to be replace.
Only had the car for 2 days - crazy!
I picked up my 2023 on Tuesday and Saturday night it wouldn't go into reverse
I drove it straight to the dealership
Hit a call on Tuesday saying GM is shipping a new transmission for my C8
That was 3 weeks ago
I was told today it should be ready tomorrow
I still love the car and can't wait to get it back
2021 2LT Z51 C8 with no issues of any kind.
I had a 2016 and a 2019 zo6 new car s both had 2 transmission before 10 thousand miles
Those are different cars
My 2020 has 7600 miles in 22 months and so far, trouble free.

Bought a 2021 C8 Corvette. The engine in the transmission had to be changed after 250 miles.
Took my 2024 in for a oil change two days ago first one @ 1,000 miles , they told me my transmission is leaking and want me to bring it in tomorrow 😮 hoping it’s not to serious

Chevrolet has been pretty lapse about taking cars of corvette problems like the valve train problems with the C6 Z06 ,rim problems with the C7 Z06 and Grandsport I've had more than my fair share of problems with mine all electrical
2023 tranny just gave out on my friends too and no word on the fix yet
Obviously the newer mods to the pan aren’t the fix.
I bought my c8 z51 it arrived in March. I noticed transmission issues early. But initially it was the crystal like sand on the rear bumper. First i called the dealer. They knew I had not driven it alot due to travel and illness, told me it was carbon and take a couple long drives. Ok. No change. Then I noticed the leaking. Left cardboard underneath and it appeared to be transmission juice. Brought it in. They took a while to diagnose it was the transmission oil pan gasket. Ok, replaced it. Oddly enough they said come get it, and as soon as I got home I saw more of the same. Then they ordered another pack of gaskets. Tried again, same result. They assured me they drove it and had it up on the hoist. When I got home , same!! Ok 3rd try, new transmission. Result, leak stopped, grainy crap didn't. Now looks like a buy back. Bummer. I'll know after they look again. But I think it's more their curiosity. I doubt I would even want it back at this point. Asking for problems. Crappy experience

@@SlumlordC8 i had 2 transmission gaskets replaced then finally the new transmission. Apparently the transmission company is on the 4th revision and if you have the latest it should be good, I was assured I do

The main transmission issue with the c8 is the lack of a manual
And how do you think they are going to put a manual transmission in the vehicle? You need a clutch pedal, master cylinder, gear lever and mechanism, shift cables, then there is the matter of getting those cables to the rear. Then having to redesign the transmission to work with manual shifting. Then the big thing, it makes the car slower. How are you going to convince your mates at the pub that your Corvette is a good thing when its actually slower in performance?

Ediff locked up on a Z06 during a test drive. Completely turned me off from the entire platform. Why the fuck would GM put a Ediff in the Corvette instead of a mechanical diff???
My 23 is getting a New Transmission. Has GM really found a solution, will my new Transmission have the same issue?
I would think if they gave you a New Transmission they fixed the issue for sure
@@carsinreach5318 Thats not true. I highly doubt GM is going to invest $$$ in investigating the true cause of these failures. They will just slap on a new gear box and see what happens down he road. I am surprised that GM has so many replacement transmissions to go around.

It's the same thing as dealing with finding factual data about covid. There are no real numbers. How many cars have bad trans. They made 21000 cars in 20. This was an ok piece but it left out the usual details including there is no TSB or Recalls.

The whole C8 car is outdated. Rectangle brick steering wheel. outdated wheels 🛞, ugly Camaro back end, and a outdated 1990’s front end. The people who designed this C8 needs to be FIRED ASAP including CEO MARY
those are cosmetics, we are talking about the dct tremec transmission tr9080 M1L and M1M. the internals are wearing out and corners were cut its being swept under the rug, plus it does have heat soak engine issues too if ran to ragged edge.

They aren’t pretty. Proportions are WAY off. Z06 fixes that though in my opinion.

It is real. My daughter's brand new 2023 C8 transmission went out 2 days after taking delivery! Service center informed her they need to replace the transmission - CRAZY!!

@@SpyderBlackOfficial Sorry to hear neighbor's C8. GM really needs to give an extended warranty on the C8s transmission. I saw the paperwork and it costed $21k to replaced the transmission.
