Plasma Explosions, How Do They Work?

- A video exploring plasma explosions. Unlike a lot of other weapon systems in FtD, knowing how plasma explosions work is necessary to build plasma cannons. Some trial and error plus intuition is enough for other systems, but plasma damage feels antagonistic at times.

Plasma would make a mess out of nearly all my builds, which is really good since it encourages a different armour layout. Unfortunately it seems that increasing the block count/air gaps is the way around Plasma… Punishing pre planned and compact craft. Either way something was needed to counter HA.
ya, infact im REALLY happy this is how it is because it means a friend of mine can suffer knowing that if i ever make a bigger then i do ships. well lets just say he basicly is gonna get jack screwed because he does exactly that. tbh plasma ruins just about every build thats currently known hell it basicly hard counters the ring sheilds *not that they are used anyway to my know* with only plane sheilds being the only real counter to it.
@@lechking941Piercing pacs were always incredibly good against Frontsiders, though so I don’t really understand why Plasma is needed, atleast for the official reasons, but I like it anyway, maybe the devs wanted a more efficient anti-frontsider weapon.
air gapping helps one time only.
Would you say that plasma is efficient at current price point?
Single turrets for the price of the whole battleship sound kinda scary :D
Plasma is efficient at killing heavy armor which is something that the game was definitely missing. I haven't checked how efficient it is against wood, but I'd assume it's quite bad.
The compactness of the weapon is definitely a bonus. I can make turrets with around the same power as APS at 1/2 the diameter.
@@bungalowbill521from my learnings from watching a cheap one being used agenst wood armor in adventure mode. its econ wise about as sound as it gets like with 8 charges a shot wood armor is chunked well enough to be semi comparable to a low grade apc cannon
Plasma making wood even farther away the best material in the game was not exactly what I had hoped for, but it's unsurprising given a certain developer's opinions on hyper dense builds, HA/wedge spam, LAMS, and warp lol.
I love videos like this, the more technical and maths/coding oriented the better!
Good to have you back
looks like good ol thump damage from PAC and Holopoint?
For the layman, what would a good summary of this video be? Are airgaps more important now?
The more connected blocks, the more damage, even adding damage in some cases.
The more air and fewer connections, the less damage, turning a million into nothing rapidly.
Basically density without space can result in exponential growth and the opposite in exponential decay
It's kind of like a domino effect which punishes lower health, densely packed armor with no gaps based on how much damage it can do to each block
It kind of works like high explosive damage, except there's a severe penalty for empty space and lack of connections (which is the opposite of how HE damage works)
Oh, and it can't really deal damage to blocks it has already passed on the way to hitting a craft, seems like things only propagate out and directly in front
Plasma is also really good at doing more damage when it hits the holes it makes, so having slightly staggered large rounds can do allot more damage to a target than one by itself
TlTlDR -- in the context of this video
Plasma is really, really good at destroying armor/health, but isn't necessarily great at taking out guns or other systems
It’s a meta call. If you’re having a lot of trouble with doom plasma, then consider using spaced armor or generally making the craft less dense.
A more general solution that will work against large or small plasma is to use more wood, stone, and metal which are more efficient that HA against all sizes of plasma.
bro stop licking you lips or whatever youre doing
It's my lips separating. You can even hear my tongue moving. It's almost inaudible IRL, but my microphone really lifts it for some reason and I've never been able to solve it. I can hear the same noises on most videos, but mine are way louder.
The APS buff I think is a lot more impactful than it appears: One example is the Megalodon being able to defeat the extinction, which it couldn’t do before the update.
I hope you make a plasma worship for the Kitty stuff you're making that interesting vehicle for stunning and weakening opponent for other craft to take over and we'll destroy is it can become z is it if it is then we have a new vehicle further edition
Good Video but too complicated for me 😆 i actually have made a really demastating turret in adventure mode. Would love to show it to somebody
Excellent video
