- From The Depths INSTANT Tutorials, this time we are finally doing that Railgun tutorial, yes APS full rail gun/coilgun, how to make it and how to make it good and efficient!
FTD railgun:
First think about what gauge and shell you want, we will go for a 450mm shell with kinetic damage since it depends on speed, railguns are good at that. If you are going for a chemical round speed is less important. Rail casings are not usually required, especially not innately heavy projectiles
Then check how big of a autoloader your shell requires for that gauge and make any changes if you want. Railguns don't require any cooling.
Now we may build the gun, first we need to know how much capacity is required to fire this shell, the gun should not have more capacity than to be able to fire one shell if you want a constant fire rate, double, triple or more capacity results in burst fire, not faster shells.
Now let's see how fast your gun fires, add more autoloaders until you are happy, now you need to match the autoloaders speed with railgun chargers.
Don't forget batteries on the ship to match requirements as well as electricity generation capability to power you railguns needs.
For long range railguns, add fins, use up to 20% of the energy for stabilization and make sure your long range detection and tracking is good enough.
For shorter to medium range it is better to have maximum speed for kinetic shells, why base bleeders is a good idea.

Why my intakes always say that I have not enough ammo ? (I placed like 50 2x2 ammo)
What is the main differences between railguns and normal guns?
Different applications, railguns will be better for kinetics for example, normal guns are better for high firerate in general
Im kinda new to from the depths and i was wondering how to get all the info when you hover over a block like yours says the capacity and firepower but mine says nothing like that

Why do people do rapid fire rail guns and not the typical really big single shots in like halo?
Depends if you need a sandblaster, or a gun like the bb5 uses
railgun shell speed wont go over 170ms
