The 9th Faulty Mechanic in SSBM

- In addition to the 8 mechanics I've recommended fixing thus far for competitive play, a 9th has recently been discovered! The fixed version of this mechanic will be useful for those who jump with the Z button.

C-stick ledge drop also suffers from snapback if you release the stick while actionable.
hax videos are fire
I've seen that picture of the analogue stick/graph so many times and I still don't know wtf it means lol
really appreciate the attention to detail you put into these videos. keep them coming!
New Melee lore dropped.
🎉
As a claw-grip player, I've been using C-stick ledge fall since I first learned ledge dashing. It actually works rather well, the accidental aerials take just a little bit of muscle memory and practice to overcome. Nowadays, I used C-stick for any ledge fall, not just to ledge dash.
I'm blown away by the depth of your passion.
This is something that’s peeved me for a long time. Thank you
Corridor issue fix would be great, especially because other smash games are so lenient with up and down throws. I remember developing the issue when first playing PM and having it happen to me again after playing ultimate because it can be more comfortable to push at an angle rather than going straight up or down.
Don't stop uploading content hax
Im guessing the unknown thing is that you buffer jump with Y and X as you do with tap jump.
It is a advantage that the boxx has, as you usually use tap jump with the boxx, makes it so you dont miss your jump if you input it the first frame of turnaround (can't jump in that state)
b0xx usually jumps with x
it would be easy to use up though
Jump doesn't have a buffer outside of hitstun though..
@@Dr3am9553 Tap jump does
I fucking knew the throw range thing was real.
Both me and my brother (claw players) have been ledgedashing with c-stick for years now - it is very consistent. Also you can use the c-stick mechanic described in this video to do legedrop instant bair (back and roll). I think this fix is a bad idea because it actually removes something someone might want to do, unlike the others, and what it fixes can be done consistently already.
Analog stick + A achieves fall off back air consistently
C stick ledgedashing is the future I can consistently get 12+ galint with Fox
@@brianb2308 that messes up your aerial drift
I feel i watched a 2 hours documentary in 5 min
Aren't these fixes optional and not being adopted as the standard, why are people so upset? Because now someone can get a controller for $20 and stand a chance?
Because the changes are proposed by someone who spoke about the corruption in the scene.
Ohhh! I started doing c stick back then stick jump for ledge dashes and attacks from the ledge as Marth and but every now and then he does that stupid back air and I've never known why. I'm becoming more and more for a software fix
good to know what causes me to just down air to my death when trying to scar jump on yoshi's. should absolutely be fixed imo
hax$.... big fan here bud, love the stuff 👍 keep going alright? well free you one day! ;)
oh wow this is why i mess up my scar jumps sometimes
Goated
we need to fix puff fthrow to work every time
good points. even though I'd be careful with using the boxx' legality as a reason to legalize mechanics as I feel like it could be used as a justification to take back the boxx' legalization.
you could just say it's legal on the boxx, because it's stupid to exist in the first place, and fixing it on original gc controllers is the right and consequent thing to do.
Keep up the 🔥 content habibi much love sent your way good luck 🇮🇶 ❤️
Where does "analog stick back" to ledge fall place in the contest of best ledge fall methods? I thought there was some advantage to using analog stick back instead of "jam analog stick down-forward". according to 4:03 should you use down and forward instead of back on the analog stick when ledgedashing?
Analog stick back is mostly used because it’s safe, rather than optimal. The down-forward angle can be really hard to nail in the heat of the moment, leading to accidental fastfalls or ledge get-ups. Analog stick back has the similar pros & cons to c-stick down, but the delay in jump trajectory is much more severe, because the analog stick can’t consistently go from back to forward in one frame, especially with any kind of precision for the ledgedash angle.
the year is 20XX
just unban Hax already
Imo unban Hax and ban the b0xx.
I have a question: you say this has to be addressed, but I thought you were done developing 1.03. Is there/will there be another way to address it?
1.03 is a solution to all the "having to buy an expensive controller" problems, but the community doesn't seem to want to use it for whatever reason.
@@Gingish that isn't related to what they asked, you just brought up an irrelevant complaint about a different topic. They were asking how this change was going to be addressed since Hax said 1.03 development was done.
As a Samus player who uses Cstick for ledge interrupts, this is great to see
nice
can confirm
can't we just make a jump to standardize new technology that fixes the polling drift a la Slippi for nintendont, and then we can have the inputs be one-frame but not have the 59.94Hz/60Hz issue? Like 1-frame inputs shouldn't be an issue if we can reconcile the hardware and software?
It would have to be able to be accomplished on GameCube too. The majority of my setups are GameCubes: i.imgur.com/kKxtBkM.png
Neat update. The ISO doesn't work on Nintendont on Wii tho :(
Sheesh

Hax$
i couldnt follow any of this lmao
i wanna buy a box, sometimes melee hurts my hands
Just what I wanted for my birthday more melee bs
You’re after phantom hits, aren’t you hax?
but there is no problem with them... they arent just random
@@DoctorDeuce wrong. Phantoms dont work properly. One might land a perfect hit but if ONE hitbox phantoms, the whole move whiffs, even if they were solidly hit by another hitbox
@@brandonm7191 you can say thats a bad design decision, but it functions properly and nothing that hax would go anywhere near... i doubt hax wpuld even want to fix something like invis ceiling
gotta hand it to hax. hes a box player. fixing an issue that doesnt concern him personally is very comendable. vid is appreciated :)
Playing puff and accidentally horizontally throwing is so annoying
Personally I'd argue that the corridor issues don't require patching, as their inputs are lenient enough. They're nowhere near as problematic as 1f polling or shield drops.
The point of 1.03 is to patch flawed mechanics, and the corridor issue definitely is one of those even if it's not as problematic as others. I definitely think patching it is worth it because I shouldn't drop my down throw chaingrabs due to a programming flaw. Ranges for vertical throws should be in line with vertical tilts
Mission creep. This is a big reason why people don't want 1.03.
Hi
Another change this thing because i want to sell the boxx.
51 second gang.
Ban the box
Again. The game is fine. We fell in love with this game and all of its jank for a reason. Removing jank removes the games charm. I hope boxes and other custom board controllers get banned. You know who poses the biggest threat to the game and community? Its not leffen, Hax.
😡💢
lol
you need to realize how biased you are in these videos. you base everything on fox and on the boxx, what if someone liked using the way the game was originally designed but you want to change it? im not saying this is particularly good example but as an example maybe someone was using the c-stick ledge fall and sliding it to do an instant aerial with a character that doesn immediatly fast falls and dies and maybe there was something to be used in this way for a diferent character that you couldnt think about. In my opinion , your changes will only solidiy the current meta and are not good for innovative players who could bring new ideas. You are only cementing things based on the current meta .
agreed. remove all software mods (even ucf), let people use whatever controller they want as long as it doesnt have macros, and unnerf the box. and unban wobbling. and make all setups use low latency mode. this is the true future.
by smoothing over the game code with biased intention as to how you think things should work, you are only removing possibilities in an infinitely nuanced game.
@@naircat I agree with everything you've said here other than unnerfing the b0xx. A controller that uses digital buttons to generate analogue inputs is inherently a macro controller, and if macros that convert digital-to-analogue are to be allowed in melee, the doors are automatically open for all sorts of other software, and you end up with a technological arms race within controller modding (this is basically where we are now).
So either A: We ban macros entirely including digital to analogue (with software snapback smoothing / filtering also potentially being implicated), or B: Create a widely accepted set of well thought out rules and restrictions on what kind of macros controllers are allowed to run, written with b0xx style controllers in mind.
c-stick ledgefall fix NOW. HAX$ you are a GOD for these vids i tell you what
