    RIP Power Slash animation.
    We didn't use it often, but damn did it look cool. Would've been a great dps combo ender. Souleater doesn't look as awesome.

      We've lost so many spicy animations. Scourge and various other tank skills you could slot in 2.0 (Skull Sunder, etc.) had fabulous animations that they've basically just thrown away. Those poor animators. T_T

      They have cut most of darks cool looking moves. Delirium blade, scourge now power slash. Yet have kept the one move I actively despise I hate Mario jumping after every combo

      Power Slash animation could be Edge of Darkness, we only ever see Edge of Shadow.

    The Blood Weapon trait just lets you get gauge more than likely, since it looks the same as the trait in the game now. If you Blood Weapon prior to 66 it only restores MP. After 66 its MP and Blackblood.

    A shame they are removing spinning and power slash, the animation for power slash was visually more brutal than souleater. To the animation scrap pile with Dragoon pole dance they go.

      Along with like 3 of DRK's other ability animations. Rampart replaced their unique animation, Scourge is gone too.
      While I like how ShB DRK looks, i really wish they left us with two separate combos, even if one was just a DoT to rotate in.

    Before the level 66 trait DRK was only able to acquire blood from certain skills like soul eater and salted earth basically like pvp DRK (except without the salted earth)

    So we only have one combo now? I would understand the pointlessness of having the other combo now, but isnt having only one combo what we hated about PLD originally? Because it was boring?

      Does it matter when we really primarily used one combo anyway? The Enmity combos were only used to establish Aggro off a swap, if at all, or to start a fight with a decent aggro lead.

      I'm pretty happy to be gaining prime button real estate back for more interesting abilities. I think less focus on combo choice (which was kind of dull, and the trade offs pretty meaningless) and more on abilities and mechanics that make the job distinctive are a good move.

      Well, the PLD had almost nothing going on aside from it's single combo. No interesting mechanics or interactions between your other abilities. Just bang out RoH until you're out of TP.
      Even with one weaponskill combo, DRK still seems to have quite a bit more going on than that.

      Fair, I guess I didnt catch that we're getting an 'aoe' combo, and if it gets us to more of a state of what the job is, 'job identity/uniqueness' then it's all good. Just being worried for my class lol

    Mained a drk in Heavensward and in Stormblood...sooooo happy I'll be maining it in Shadowbringers as well..changes are always wierd at first but soon it'll feel right..love how they turned the darkness factor up even further

    To answer your question about Enhanced Blackblood, it sounds like all it does is allow you to regen MP via attacking with the Trait making it able to gain Blackblood, otherwise, if memory serves, you'll only gain Blackblood from Soul Eater and a few other attacks naturally.

      TheBroseph95 Guarantee it’s limitled by the engine. They went over this when they pruned in stormblood and when they added glamour palettes. It’s removing tank swapping and allowing us to keep our damage while keeping our defensive stance on. They said there is significantly more incoming damage in shadowbringers because of the changes to healers. I’d rather lose a useless ability that we have to keep swapping in and out of for a fucking shadow Freya to cut shit up. It’s not WoW lmao this is what an improvement looks like.

      @@AudoMado Short sighted. All the small skill changes that change how your character is, in this case, either doing less damage, but increased damage resistance, or just doing more damage. You are making conscious decisions to use either stance. By removing them, you've removing choice. Less choice making = developer playing the game for you more which = game growing more boring over time. Even by having such dumb abilities, you're creating a more sandbox ability system, where players can use these abilities in new and interesting ways. For example MT swapping into DPS stance in between phases as needed. Or a player beating a FATE using different stances as needed.

      @TheBroseph95 What do you mean? Only thing being gutted is healers? They're literally adding abilities and removing useless ones on a select amount. We dont't need 40 abilities, like seriously, i have 3 hotbars for some of the classes I'm all for removing the clutter that is tank stancing and emnity combos, you only use those a few times a fight because they were weaker, excluding WAR because his emnity combo was his strongest. I've tanked for 1500 hours and these changes are a blessing, now the healers, idk im iffy I like dpsing heals but we'll see how it pans out.

    My big worry/disappointment here, besides the loss of some very cool animations, is that we just... well, we won't be hitting buttons as often.
    Even without abyssal drain and its wonderful sound+animation, DRK's AoE combat at least seems like it'll still be very fun - an aoe combo, spammable Quietus, Blood Weapon applying to spells, and Flood use (from mana or Blackest) should mean seeing huge swings back and forth in the mp meter and doing lots of group damage with lots of OGCDs weaved in, even if tanks in general are going to be relying more on healers for sustained survival.
    Single-target on the other hand.... this just does not look like it will be a fun class to fight bosses with anymore, which let's be honest is like mostly the point of playing a tank. What used to be a kit with a ton of self-synergy now has slightly less and gets a capstone dps booster that's just... a set it and forget it summon with a long CD that happens to look neat, doesn't interact with any other abilities. The slowness of the mana generation outside of Blood Weapon (5x Siphons now, versus only 1-2 siphons depending on stance before) means that we won't really have regular-use OGCDs anymore. Instead, it'll be a Warrior-like class of just repeating a GCD while waiting on offensive cooldowns to come up, waiting for two meters to get bigger, and relatively little proactive decision-making or moment to moment dps options, just use the defensive stuff when a TB is incoming, etc.
    As someone who switched from DRK to trying WAR and was outstandingly bored by WAR's sheer inactivity most of the time (even if Inner Release supercrits were nice), this is a change that might make me quit my favorite class. Not even because we're getting yet more stuff that's just a flat-out worse version of what other tanks have (Magic-only damage reduction? Still? C'mon), but because it doesn't look like this will continue to be a high-activity and technical tank anymore.
    If only GBR used a heavy weapon with weighty animations instead of basic/generic sword-protagonist aesthetics, I'd be jumping ship in a heartbeat since it's now where all the OGCD activity is. Maybe I'll just become an MCH or something, even though I usually don't care for dpsing.

      THIS. This is what i've been saying since the leaks came. It feels as though they are slowing down the pace of DRK which saddens me greatly. Yea it looks pretty and edgy and all, but DRK had the veil of being the more technical tank being you had to manage your resources the most. Now it just feels like all you do is burst with delirium and build up resource in between.
      But this isn't the released version yet, so I have hope.
      What I think would make DRK feel much better is if they lowered the mp cost of our mp spenders down a bit. We went from spending 2400 mp when we had a max of 9600 and regaining 1200 per syphon strike to spending 3000 with a max of 10k and only gaining 600 mp per syphon strike. That is overall a nerf in my opinion.
      If they change the mana cost to 2500 mp and/or change syphon strike back to restoring 1200 mp I think DRK will be in a much better state.

      Well said. I absolutely love skill weaving, I adored 2.x bard and mained WAR from 2.2-4.0, and I've been maining DRK most of SB because it's fun and active. Looks like it'll be more static, which I'm not big on. Looks like I'll be going GNB even though it's OT specialized (I prefer MT in raids) because the moment to moment is more my style. I'll probably bring DRK up second

      While it's a shame to lose such a nice looking ability, let's be honest, besides using it for a pull, when did you ever use it? In every boss fight I do I use it for the first 123 combo then never touch it again for that fight.

      @@khairulazhar9025 The problem with Dark Knight is that it's the only tank that was stripped to a single combo. Paladin has 2-3 finishers (Rage of Halone upgrades to Royal Authority now but they still have Goring Blade), Warrior still has Storm's Eye and Storm's Path, and Gunbreaker has two combo strings - a normal one and one requiring a cartridge at the start that can be upgraded to a more powerful version. Dark Knight's the only one that has a simple 1-2-3 combo chain. Power Slash could have been reworked into an alternate combo finisher.

    I´m really worried about how they are treating Dark Knight. I main him since it was released, and they haven´t stop eliminating skills since then. Bye to scourge, awesome skill. Delirium and reprisal? Shit compared to how they were. Now they fully take away Darkside and Blood Pride..... Man, I don´t know if Im the only one, but I´m not too happy with these changes. of course the new skills are awesome, my concern is, will it be enough to give DRK the breath of fresh air that it deserves?

      Why? Its situational. If every tank had flat dmg reduction, then there will always be the best tank. If they keep adding skills that specify, then you may need to swap tanks around for higher tier raids

      I think it's a great idea to have DRK specialize in magic damage... if other classes followed those same rules. Now just make the other tanks specialize in physical and/or magical themselves so that DRK isn't the only one that has its own special edgy flavor of mitigation >.> It's dumb that DRK feels weaker than everyone else because of this but I think if the other tanks had something similar it would make them all a tiny bit more unique.

      @@FinalShadow17 Like the others have said, DRK is the only one with specified damage mitigation, it used to make sense when PLD could only Block Physical Damage, so their Bulwark was in a similar situation, but then Blocking got buffed to also do Magical Damage, but they left Dark Mind as only Magic.
      Don't get me wrong, so far the whole "Magic only" thing is my only issue and it's more of an annoyance than anything, everything else about the changes coming sounds wonderful and I plan on playing DRK along with a few other jobs.

      A lot of people are drooling over these changes but I agree with you; there's a few things I'm not a fan of. Why is Sole Survivor gone? it was such a great pick-me-up mid fight. Why get rid of Blood Weapon's GCD speed up? It was a super fun burst of speed every now and then. Also I wish Delirium was a bit more complicated than "Press button get ability spam". I know it wasn't complicated before but at least it took a bit of lining up and thinking ahead before just using it mindlessly. I think the overall changes are great but I definitely agree that the some of the changes are a tad strange. Nevertheless we can't fully judge it until we play it, and maybe it'll end up feeling great once we get our hands on it.

    I can already see that living shadow may need an adjustment. Unless the earlier attacks deal slightly more damage or the shadow attacks mirroring your combos at a faster rate until it catches up it appears to have quite a bit of a dps loss or rather wasted time at the beggining of its cast. From your gameplay it appears that it takes roughly 6 seconds out of the 24 seconds that it has once summoned before it initiates its attacks meaning you truly only have the use of the shadow for 18 seconds.

    there are no more increased potencies from dark arts and abysal drain is on a 60 second cooldown now? No more soul survivor, no more increased attack speed... and fray only does 40% regular damage?       way to only look at the negatives moron. no more dark arts instead, we get 2 new awesome abilities to replace it and abyssal drain is now an ability instead of a weapon skill which increases your single target dps, but one of your new abilities is AOE and you get a new aoe spell to combo off of unleash which restores MP and generates blood gauge all around more black blood everywhere so you'll get a lot more quietuses. you have more than enough to make up for the AOE. and as for sole survivor? really? this boring ass long ass cooldown that does nothing interesting? way to bitch about nothing. no more increased attack speed? you wanna be broken as shit? you obviously have to trade something for all this black blood and "fray only does 40% regular damage?" holy fuck how stupid are you? it's a 40% damage buff to you because it is doing damage INDEPENDENT OF YOU. i can't fathom how you can be this stupid and fail to see all the changes.

      Ånnihilation I am focused on the negatives because I honestly love dark knight as it is right now, I think I worried too much about the balance since potencies are likely to change, however,
      DRK losing it’s attack speed and a the extra traits from dark arts removes a lot of what made dark knight unique and carve and spit is basically half the potency now and abysal drain will BARELY increase your single target damage, but i suppose it is more usable than dark passenger now
      Like I said originally, I’m not sure what to think until I can use it, but I think Gunbreaker is going to fill the Attack speed sized hole in my heart

The only things they changed or removed about dark knight are the shitty parts that everyone else is happy are gone. No one gives a damn about sole survivor, your weak attack speed buff, or dark stats spam when we're getting a whole plethora of awesome abilities in their place.

      @@arturius9715 But the rework actually makes speed better, no more double weaving DA and C&S. Maybe Sks will get buffed? Cause the more sks you had the more Blood Weapon would lose it's effectiveness, just like HW BLM.

    I'm sure someone has said it already, but on blackest night, if that tool tip is correct, then it also seems it got a 5% buff when the dark knight uses it on themselves, a 15%ish boost if used on another tank (assuming they have similar health to the dark knight or more), and ... I dunno how much of a nerf or buff on other classes, but it used to be 10% of the dark knight's HP as a shield when cast on another player.

      I'd assume one of two things: It's still 10% on other players, or it'll be half of its new version, 12.5%. Either way I doubt it'll change much being put on other players.

    liking the changes, never used Power Slash anyway and loving Souleater heals without Grit. Only negative is Abyssal Drain nerf, it was the best Tank AOE in game, huge self heals on big pulls

      tbh im happy for the changes, with my luck, dA + AD comsumed a ton of mp, and my healer would be a whm...... so when I BP's to keeo my magic up to do it, healer would holy spam and delirium wasn't reliable.

    Dark knight has been my favorite class in the game so far in gameplay and just class lore, and I’m super disappointed with shadowbringers dark knight,especially with how it’s supposed to be the poster boy, it’s just become warrior 2, with basically just spamming one combo, having very limited ways to build gauge, and having a 10 second “I spam one move for a ton of damage” window, the skill ceiling has dropped tremendously from stormblood
    at least gunbreaker still looks really cool and fun

      Omega Red Dark knight did have soul before, you had to manage your blood and whether to hold out on it or go crazy with DA bloodspillers and breaking blackest night, it was a dynamic gauge that took skill and fight knowledge to use, now it’s linear and you get 10 every combo and 10 every gcd with blood weapon, it’s as boring as warriors gauge, and it’s not like the other tanks had a dps stance that you had to work for, the new gauge doesn’t even take skill,it’s literally huton but less punishing because no matter what if you use your abilities on cooldown and use YOUR ONE COMBO you’ll ALWAYS have enough mp before there’s anything to worry about

      I should mention it’s also easier than huton because the skill to increase the timer is an ogcd so you never have to worry about planning ahead and getting the attack off in time

      Spencer Edwards i already have a ton of hours in all the tanks and the game in general, I can already tell how it’s gonna be played to be optimal and it’s not gonna be difficult and has lost all its uniqueness, you can tell there’s a huge difference because with something like ninja I’m still trying to think about the rotation with new abilities and damage numbers they have that add an extra layer to their gameplay, but with dark knight it’s already understood and done,it’s boring and incredibly easy to understand cause it plays exactly the same as another class, aka warrior
      at least they seem to have gotten paladin and gunbreaker right, paladin might just do a little too much damage and gunbreaker definitely does too little

      @@choccyg4035 I get you, I really do. But I'm a fan of trying it myself before I make judgement calls. People say they disliked mch or Sam. I mained both as a dps and absolutely loved the rotation. I mained War as a tank for a while, then swapped to drop. War and drk were kinda similar before, but I feel like just by looking there will be differences between the 2 even though they have some similarities. I get you, but I just don't share your sentiment and will reserve my call til after I play it myself.
      I for one am excited to try out all the new stuff.

    So long as I can cheese damage with TBN I'll be fine with DRK. It's still about stockpiling MP and Blood to spend on moves that don't interrupt the main combo without the busywork that the old Dark Arts was.

    Right, I've watched both your Warrior and Dark Knight videos now, and I'm a bit sad they have nerfed their aoe healing. Once again they are making tanks more dependent on healers, which I understand, but don't like. I enjoyed my Inner Release+Steel Cyclone spam and my Dark Arts Abyssal Drain for some major healing when doing large pulls.
    Other than that, it seems that they are reinforcing the identities the tanks had back in Heavensward. Warrior is the dps tank, Dark Knight is the magic tank and I am guessing(without having watched the video yet) that Paladin is still the overall mitigation tank.
    I've got to admit, the new Delirium made me grin, it's not going to be as good as Inner Release+Fell Cleave, but spamming Quietus and Bloodspiller is going to be fun.
    My major gripe is something I believe you mentioned in the job ability reveal video and that is Living Shadow. It has a 24 second duration but doesn't start doing anything until there is 18 seconds remaining. The animation is cool and all, but it still feels wrong somehow.
    Overall, Dark Knight looks good but I'll have to play it to make a final judgement on this rework. Hopefully it feels better to play than it did in Stormblood.

      @@Dharengo If it said 18 second duration and the duration didn't begin until after the animation is finished, that wouldn't be a problem. But because it says the duration is 24, but you only get 18 seconds of time out of it, it feels like you lost 6 seconds of duration. Mechanically, the effect is the same, psychologically there is a huge difference.

      @@momintim Well its been this way for almost 20 years. War always has and always will be the premier tank\dps (dependent on roll). For Drk being the marquis job this patch, it does look nerfed tbh, but time will tell.

      @@lWreyl What made Abyssal drain so good was the fact it could effectively replace both dark passenger and unmend as a universal, ranged enmity tool with so pulling by being a gcd. Now it's half of that every 60 seconds. It still costs mp if I recall, so there's nothing free about it. Especially with what all we lose from making it an ogcd every minute. It's what made dark passenger such a drag.

    If I remember correctly. Black blood only accumulated on the finisher of combos. And with the trait, all the weapon skills in The combo rotation accumulate the blackblood lol

    THIS is what I've been waiting for. I don't even care about the new jobs or races, I'm more excited about having to relearn my favorite job.
    I'm really liking the Tank Mastery trait and the Grit redesign. I literally yelled 'YES" from my desk at work after hearing that Soul Eater doesn't require grit to heal HP now. That was one of the biggest gripes as a DRK main...the fact that the other two tanks have great single target healing abilities while the dark depends on AoE groups for ample healing.
    The new attacks sound pretty cool. Overall, the redesign reminds me a bit of DRG and having to keep the Eye active for the DPS increase.

Abyssal drain is no longer spammable and soul survivor is gone. so how are we expected to heal through large dungeon pulls anymore???? we cant even blind with passenger anymore. am i missing something here are or we just THAT much more healer dependent???

      @@shadowdragon714 I'm going to hold my criticism until I actually play the game. Sure, things were taken away but there is a lot of good with this too.
      Even though, DRK was known for Dark Arts Spam, it seems like they'll be an ability spam class now trying to get off as many attacks while under Delirium (which is the DRK equivalant to Inner Release. Blood Weapon doesn't increase SkS anymore but instantly gives 600MP for every GCD that you do and 10 Blood Gauge. Delirium makes Blood Spiller and Quiteus require no MP and gives MP per attack.
      It also seems like we'll be more TBN dependent not only for mitigation but for the MP restoration since it no longer gives Blood Points but mana to use for new Dark Side abilities, Flood/Edge of Shadow which are basically your dark arts spam except now it's built into one big damage move. Still want to manage enough mana for TBN.
      Unleash now has an AoE combo ability that gives 20 blood gauge and no longer requires mana. Abyssal Drain is a 60 second oCD AoE Heal. Quietus can be spammed while under (I saw up to 5 times on a playthrough vid while under Delirium.) and still restores MP and does damage.
      Other than that, not much has changed and I'm ok with that. I like the removal of Darkside and Dark Arts. I like the removal of the enmity combos since they weren't used much anyway. This seems to be a complaint I'm seeing often but with all the new skills that seem to be weavable, I'm not complaining.
      It's still different but I'm still excited. I've stuck with DRK all this time for the last 3 years and I don't plan on switching,

      @@Fade2BlackSS As a War main who chaged to DRK in 4.0 War just does everything 5.0 Drk is Trying to do but better. Inner release with cyclone spam heals to full against large mob pulls. Abyssal drain wont. Inner beast spam heals....Bloodspiller doesnt. War has a 1200 pot heal every 60s. DRk doesnt. so it seems to me they took DRK and made it a nutured version of the War. Which makes me question why i swapped to drk in the 1st place. If im gonna do all those things, may as well just be a War who can do everything the Drk does but can live through large pulls. idk. I love 4.0 Drk and the only i wanted on them was a LITTLE bit more self sustain and now they have NONE. Souleater is worthless tbh.
      meanwhile, War just gets to do everything its always done. Pull large and live thru it all cuz he doesnt need to rely purely on a healer. Drk just doesnt seem capable of pulling large mobs anymore. No blind, no heal, no self sustains or preservation.
      it just seems........bad design. idk. maybe im missing something here. But i DO agree that we will have to wait and see, and i admit this is ALL knee jerk reactions but my expectations are rather low now. sadly

    I mean... I guess Blackest Night has more clear use, but it is odd that DRK doesn't have the same Party-Wide Damage Reduction as PLD or WAR, who put up decently big absorption barriers. Instead, it's Magic Reduction vs Flat Reduction, which is kinda limiting if there is an encounter with a Physical Party-wide, but again, that sounds rare in nature, so I guess we'll see if SE remembers this or changes it to be more universal.

      You're misunderstanding it. It's a Health Barrier equivalent to 25% of the Maximum health of the one getting the shield, meaning it's more potent on Tanks than other roles, it doesn't increase defense at all, it's just adding more health artificially. Plus, it's MP Cost, Recast and Duration make it only good for attacks you predict and prep for like TBs. This means that if the TB is your biggest concern DRK is great, but it has the weakest Party-wide Defense of the 4 due to it being useful in certain situations due to it's Magic only nature, because PLD's Divine Veil and WAR's Shake-it-off are Party-wide Health Barriers and GNB has something similar to DRK's Party-wide, only it's universal damage, not just Magic.

    I wonder if we are still going to do wall to wall AOE pulls... I will miss the 50 blood guage every 4 secs from lv 70 dungeons. it was Quietis on repeat for some dungeons.

    Looking at the other 2 tanks we currently have, Dark Knight is.... extremely weak. And I'm very sad to say that...
    Bloodspiller is the same potency is Atonement for Paladin, but Atonement is much easier to get than 50 gauge. Sure DKs have Delirium which is 10 seconds of BS spam, but that only amounts to maybe 4 in total, and unlike DK, PLDs can get their 3 Sword Oaths back just by using Royal Authority, not a cooldown skill.
    Bloodspiller is their hardest hitting attack, but yet Paladins get 800 potency in Confiteor and Warriors get 900 potency in Inner Chaos (not to mention it guarantees a DC)
    Sure Dark Knights look WAAAAAAAY more badass... but why are their values so damned low?

      I personally think that for now DRK main source of dmg now is going to be weaving those Flood/Edge skills in between your combo while you have the MP for it, since that they have a pretty high potency for a "spammable ogcd"

    I could be wrong but DRK is not looking too good in comparison to other tanks in terms of utility. Not only that but the changes are not "that" exciting to me personally... I mean living shadow is cool but its just a cooldown you use and forget about it so I see it getting old fast. Delirium change is nice but yeah it's literally Inner Release with no direct crit. There is a "fun" factor that the developers forgot when changing this job honestly.

      Unleash is significantly stronger. It'll now be 150 potency opposed to its current 50, alongside it costing nothing and having its chain of course. Massive massive massive buff for Unleash this xpac. (Keep in mind these numbers aren't finalized)

    To my understanding, the ShadowBringers Blood Weapon "Increases Blood Gauge by 10" is a one time effect. You won't be getting Blood Gauge increase every land of weapon skill but only MP.
    Currently in Stormblood, Blood Weapon increases Blood Gauge by 3 each time you land a physical attack.
    So I'm guessing the Enhanced Blackblood lets your new Blood Weapon accumulate Blood Gauge every land of weapon skill (not auto attacks).

    I just hope they get better survivability or something(don't play DRK but healer main), because I don't know if it's the job or just for some reason people pick it when they don't have any interest in tanking. I still dread healing a DRK, I'm not endgame yet(level 55), but still in dungeons this far, DRKs don't hold enmity and are hella squishy for some reason. I'm happy for the cool looking changes but I'm scared this will draw in more DPS players that just like the idea of DRK but don't actually even try to tank. It's hella frustrating, like Fray is cool but I want to stay alive as a healer, I don't need you to do more DPS if I have to pick. Just slightly worried by the inevitable rise of hella new DRK players. Please, if you think the changes are cool and choose to play DRK, learn to tank, I beg you! Lol

      Yeah, as Hikarin said, the MP generation from the base combo is much, much slower now, since siphon in the past granted MP equal to half of a dark arts outside of grit and a full dark arts cast within grit. Now ALL drk mana restore is 600 MP, from seemingly any source, so we'll basically need to rely on stuff like Blood Weapon for MP recovery in large bursts and.... honestly kind of poor sustain otherwise, definitely a lot less hitting buttons often and a lot more being deeply bored and inactive waiting for cooldowns/meter in the style of WAR.
      But at least their AoE rotation should still be a lot of fun, between a more spammable Quietus and Flood and Blood Weapon applying to spells.

    Dark Knight was the shit in heavensward. The only tank that successfully took advantage of the worthless parry stat, it had mind/int debuff, it had more defensirves CD's than other clases and you could output dps consistently bringing from decent to good numbers;furthermore, with blood price you technically became an aoe enmity spamming machine, which it was perfect for dungeon speed runs and you actually had 3 combos and a 10% physical damage debuff.
    Stormblood: Aight, let's remove all the useful skills and make them only feel good by spaming a shield that breaks and allows you to spam slower and unimpresive attacks like quietus and the other one and let's call it a day. They should feel happy by spamming that twice per minute.
    Shadowbringers: We messed up... uhmm... Ok, check it. We are removing one combo, leaving you with just one but hey !! Remember those stormblood attacks we gave you? the quietus thing and the other one? Well, we made more of those that you can use twice per minute! but I know what you are thinking! "Isn't that more of the same? the class feel stale...." WE GOT YOU COVERED! We present to you FRAY, I mean the living shadow! for 20 seconds its gonna hit your opponent and you can double your dps!!!
    Yeah, they've butchered the dark knight and it's going to feel like a minor improvement over stormblood....

    After watching some more videos, I understand less and less about what this rework is supposed to do. The rework *looks* cool, but I can't say that it makes any sense. It just feels like they shuffled things around a little bit, it seems like it's still quite clunky, and I'm not sure if the rotation matters much at all since Blood Weapon doesn't do anything outside of restore MP, and there's not as much to spend MP on now. This is a little baffling to say the least.

    My thoughts on Enhanced Blackblood is it'll probably be similar to 4.x SAM kenki. Where until you get the enhanced kenki trait only a few skills give kenki gauge, but afterward you get varying amount of kenki from every weaponskill. So until Enhanced Blackblood, only certain actions wil give blood gauge, but afterward it'll be pretty much everything.

      Nah, its not a 40% damage increase. Living Shadow's damage per skill is about 40% of what we would do with said skill and several of them are AoEs with lower potency than single target skills. It'll be a damage increase, but nowhere near 40%.

    Okay but what will DRK have that'll make it unique in comparison to WAR and PLD?
    My main problem with the class was that it could never really do anything that the other tanks couldn't already do, so what is gonna set this class apart and give it value?

    Not sure I like DPS rotation being stuck between shield being busted. Might be useless against most normal mobs as they'll never break it.

    Hell even if this doesn't live up to my expectations, it's my tank of choice and still a very fun job. I'm glad Dark Arts as it was will be gone, it just became annoying to hit/hear/see the thing all the time. I will miss Dark Passenger but replacements are there I suppose. The change to Abyssal Drain having a cooldown will take getting used to. Darkside having a timer will feel odd too. Final judgment reserved for early access, but just removing the DA spam is great as is.

      It IS a nerf but compensated with new skills. It's like if someone chop off your arms and give you just one 3d-imprinted prosthesis and a golden hat and shoes. Will that make it up for the lost of both limbs? no. The same is true with dark knight.

    I've always seen darkside in sb as a direct nerf to drk that you needed to compete with the other tanks so my biggest question now is. Now that darkside is gone/changed does drk regenerate mp now?

    I may be new to the game, but it looks more like they're just trying to cut down the amount of skills we have to play with while just adding in skills in shadowbringers :/

      Having tallied it up, you'll have 7 less skills at 70 and at 80 you'll have 4 less skills then you did at level 70 in Stormblood. And it's not that big of a deal because you generally have close to the same amount of skills throughout the leveling experience with it just building up a bit but it will hardly be noticeable in this case.

    Feels like they streamlined it to be just like Warrior. Losing the Blood Weapon speed, the new Delirium being basically Inner Release and you get to spam your hardest hit for 10 seconds. Even Blood Gauge is basically just Beast Gauge now
    Disappointed

      with one major difference. the WARR can STILL HEAL TO FULL with cyclone spam. Yes they need to use the new healing CD, Nascent Flash, but it essentially is still there. PLUS they have Equilibrium with a 1200 Pot heal on a 60s CD. and what do we DRKs get???? Nothing. Guess im going back to warr...again.

    This looks pretty awful. Why remove one of our combos? Could've just reworked it to provide extra Blood Gauge, or anything. Sigh casualizing the game just like WoW, cant wait for the BFA expac of FF14 in a few years when everyone will be like "WoW why do all the classes do the same thing?" Cant believe they just ripped off Inner Release and gave it to Dark Knight, so fucking dumb.

      RIP Sole Survivor is my current feelings.
      They had adjusted it to make it so good with the 30% heal if the target died, and 20% if it expired. Then they just throw the whole thing out for an AoE magic resist.
      I really can't follow the train of thought for these changes, they seem so nonsensical.

    Been playing FF14 for a while now and i still dont get "Deals unaspected damage...". Whats this even mean?
    If im in Tank stance and the unaspected damage is 200 for example, is it still 200 whether im in tank stance or not?
    But then healers and dps don't have a stance which affects their dps, so now i really dont get it.

      unaspected simply means no element, it's a relic from old times because there are no elemental strengths/weaknesses. the potency will stay 200 afaik but in your current tank stance you will deal less damage. that will go away in a month though when tank stances will no longer reduce damage and only increase enmity

      That was the idea of this expansion, yes. They wanted the classes to be simpler than they currently are, but more complex than last expansion. Now we're kinda in-between the two c:

    Lol, is it just me, or are we basically swapping all the DPS classes for the "new" Tank classes now in Shadowbringers? I swear some of the tanks will have significantly more damage output than even the DPS themselves. All the video's I've seen so far only cover their damage output. Very few cover their survivability and utility.

    So, WAR gets Heavy swing, maim, path, eye, fell cleave and inner chaos.
    PLD gets fast blade, riot blade, goring blade, royal authority, Atonement, holy spirit and confiteor
    GNB gets Keen edge, brutal shell, solid barrel, burst strike, Gnashing fang, Savage claw, wicked talon.
    DRK gets... Hard Slash, siphon strike, souleater and...bloodspiller.
    ...........hooray.........
