🚨DISCLAIMER: In light of recent policy changes that include AI models using all marketplace content to train with, I no longer encourage composers to upload music to AudioJungle. However, since this chat is still very valuable and relevant, especially the mindsets discussed about finding opportunities and positioning yourself, I have decided to keep this video up. I hope it encourages you.
Great video. Avery is an amazing artist, and as one of his former students I can say he is an incredible teacher. Phenomenal content in this video 🤙🏼 love it.
This is gold! I've been wanting to "get the mindset" behind elite authors on AJ but didn't know how/have those connections. Thank you for sharing this; it's so helpful!
A very inspiring video, thanks. Its can all get a bit overwhelming finding the best platform that suits you and the uploading and admin involved also takes time which increases with every new music library you add. Its all part of it. A similar level of success as the elevateaudio guys would be a nice achievement. Let's aim for that!
This was a great video. Just discovered your channel. One eye opener for me from this video was about posting tracks that you're not necessarily a fan of yourself. I knew consistency was key, but I always got trapped in the mindset that every new track should top the previous one, and "just one more of the same" was always bad.
Excellent interview! Great advice from beginning to end.

This was a great video, thank you Avery! I used to make (and sometimes still make) the mistake of being afraid of "ruining" a song. If I like it very much I don't really have the motivation to sit and work with it because it is just sooo good right now. You have to let go of this and produce as many songs as you can, because as you said, you can never know what sticks and what the audience will like. Cheers!
I love how both of you point out that if you want a career in media, you should be flexible and constantly adjusting. "the gatekeepers that used to be…, are not there anymore (especially this one is great to hear). Very inspiring and uplifting conversation. Thanks Steven and Avery. Keep it up ;)
Another great video Steven. Excellent info given here, especially the track naming. I would never have thought of that. 2 questions come up though. First, is Audio Jungle exclusive? Second question is similar topic. If you have your music with a distributor like Soundrop, does that prevent you from licensing those tracks, either via a library or directly?
1) Audio Jungle is non-exclusive by default and you can switch your account to exclusive for a higher revenue percentage per sale if you choose. 2) No conflict to license via Audio Jungle (or other sites if non-exclusive) and stream on Soundrop. Licensing & streaming are two different business models that can be used on the same music track!
So under the same business can you do both royalty free (audio jungle) and music publishing? or do I have to pick one model. My interest is film scoring/ trailers and a variety of other types of music and sound effects.
Definitely! You can do as much as you’d like, but I suggest you pick one to start (the one you enjoy the most and the one you will get paid the most for). Go 100% on that one style for at least 6 months.
Great stuff. What if we put a track in Audio Jungle and nobody wanted that track, but when that track is picked by a director who directly came to me. Do I need to withdraw my track from the audio jungle and give it to the director? or keep the track as it is in the audio jungle and give that track to the director as well?
Hi,you guys mentioned "Logic" is that a stand alone DAW? Are you guys talking about Logic Pro from Apple? Thank you in advance, awesome debate guys, cheers!
They won’t be able to do that - I suggest that you turn off Content ID for all tracks you intend to license, otherwise the users will get constant copyright strikes, especially in the case of someone posting a clip of a film or gameplay from a game (big for streamers) - not worth the pennies you could earn monetarily to upset so many people. If you use Soundrop (my preferred distributor), you can turn off Content ID per track very easily from your dashboard.
Are there any UK equivalent sites like Elevate Audio? Been trying to set up an account as a UK citizen and I'm now stuck trying to get authorized with the tax benefits and country treaty mumbo jumbo...feel like I need a degree in law 😣

Good stuff! Thanks Steven and Avery!

What's the difference between selling music for game stores like Unity and selling music for AudioJungle?
Different audience / marketplace. Not many (if any) game devs visit Audio Jungle for music.
@@StevenMelin So what better place to publish music? Or you need to build on what you write.
@@altermoremusic for game music: Unity, Unreal, Itch, & GameDev Market
@@StevenMelin okay thnx!
@@StevenMelin would you recommend other libraries such as pond5?
what are all the platforms and socials you are on I really wanna be a video game music composer and want to do the whole strategy properly
Start here! videogamemusicalliance.com
@@StevenMelin No I already know your website and follow you I just wanted all the platforms socials you use so I can do that with my own music
Ha alright: UA-cam, Instagram, Twitter, & TikTok are the bigs right now
@@StevenMelin thanks ur work is great!
if i distribute a track (spotify, youtube content ID, ..) can i still sel it also on audio jungle?
Yes! So long as you own all the rights.
@@StevenMelin so the licenser will be able to turn off conent ID on youtube with license from audio jungle?

@@StevenMelin but what if someone reuploads your music they downloaded from youtube? Nothing stopping them then since content ID isn't active?
If you’re worried about that, then don’t stream your license tracks. You get to decide :)

Does anyone get royalties these days? If he got royalties off of 100 million plays, he would be filthy rich.
Royalties are still an extremely viable career path. I still chat with Avery and this is his full-time income.
