    I followed the key points in your video and was able to repair a very old swatch chronograph. A problem I had was the parts the winding stem was connected to. When I removed the slice to access the motor, the pins were attached to the slice and the pusher pins etc all came out of alignment and the slice couldn't close back. Had to open up another slice to expose those parts and reposition the parts.
    To open the bezel, my watch blade was too thick and it couldn't go below the bezel. I used a paper cutter and position the blade between the bezel and the case, then tapped the blade firmly with a litle hammer to force the bezel apart slightly. After that, my watch opener blade could be used to open up the bezel.
    To remove the crystal, i removed the battery, put a chopstick thru the hole and tapped the back of the chopstick to push the movement/crystal out from the back.
    Thanks once again for making this tutorial!

      +Ritesh Singh fixing such delicate parts while recording is not as easy as many think. If I would have 2 or 3 watches and afford to break some of them just to show in detail how to fix it, I would do it, but I only had one that I 100% needed to fix. The maine purpose of the video was to show that altough this watches are not designed to be serviceable, they can still be fixes with a minimum of tools and skill. But in the future in similar situations I will do my best to at least leave the camera rolling from an angle that does not bother me and hope that it catches the action.

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  7 років тому

      Welcome! :)
      That is really hard to put back. You need to work on it from one point and when there is just a small area where it does not want to pop in place you need to force it in place with small pliers or something. Jost be careful to not scratch or crack the glass.
      If you still can't put it in place, maybe file it down a little, but just a little and I mean a little, jut enough that in pops in place, but it's not so big that it does not stay in place.

    I have a similar swatch that has a 1/100 sec dial (upper Right) that doesn't work. It kind of wiggles a little when you press the buttons. The watch hasn't been run for like 8 years, so it may be gummed up. My understanding is that it has an ETA G10 movement, which is a basic plastic movement. However it is also in many other more expensive watches, such as Tissot. It is crazy to me how Swatch doesn't have a conventional caseback to open their $200 Irony watches so you can service or replace the movement. I also have a 3-hand Irony that also had problems with stopping after about a year. Don't think the base plastic ETAs are very reliable, which is strange since they are priced like Seiko's and Citizens which seem to be more reliable. I hate how you have to toss the watch when it has problems. Although you were able to fix yours in a way, I don't think it's practical to go to so much work for such a watch!
    Some of the designs are nice however, like this Chronograph. Similar to the Omega Moon watch!

    • @UltimateDIY
      @UltimateDIY  5 років тому +1

      Yes, it is a pain to fix them and I only did it because I am really stubborn. Also if they make something so bad and cheap that will fail really quick, so you buy another, for sure I will find a way to fix it, just to not play their game.

    • @misterfreeze6545

      @@UltimateDIY You know the Japanese have never been very good at making hi end watches, and the Swiss have never been very good at making low end watches! It's just not their thing, but they were forced to do it to compete.
      Just look at all those plastic Swatch watches made by robots that still are very expensive for what they are, but still don't last very long. And Tick very noisy. That's why they concentrated on all the fun designs and styles. And that's why you don't see base plastic ETA Quartz movements in many non-Swatch group brands. Ronda seems more reliable for less money, probably because they use mostly Asian parts assembled in Switzerland. The Swiss rules don't count electronic parts in the "Swiss Made" calculation, so they are able to get away with just adding a few Swiss gears to it.

    I'm going crazy! I removed the adjustment crown very carefully but when I put it back it does not work correctly: it always remains in the time adjustment function and consequently the swtatch does not start. Is there a particular way or position of the time and date to be set before inserting the crown?

      Looks like the "Keyless works" and the pusher pins came out of alignment. Open up the movement slice, put the tiny bearing and the crown gear on the winding stem, seat it properly in the movement before putting the slice together.
      If it is done properly, put battery in then push the winding stem all the way in. The winding stem has to be fully pushed in for the swatch to start.
      Once everything is working, pull out the winding stem and put the movement/hands etc back into the case. Push winding stem in, test to make sure that the watch is still ticking, then close up the crystal and bezel.

    Machine assembled unless you have an automatic. Also the movements use heat to gently machine peen the pillars together, however there are cheater methods you can use a super small drill bit and gently drill the peens off then use epoxy to put it together, do not use tapping screws. At the manufacturer this was all computer machine assembled.

The price jumped to $305 with tax. They told me the sale was over, but they didn't take the signs down. Second they didn't take master card only Visa. Which was odd. They were really ignorant to me.
