    Wearing my stainless steel Swatch Irony chrono whilst watching this, made and bought in 1995 , the watch has never let me down , only the strap failed and Swatch replaced it for free, amazing service !. They even replaced the battery, gave me a new display case and threw in a strap tool and spare battery !.

    Thank you - I've always wondered about the 22 jewel 12 hour chrono movement. It's quite an impressive piece. It's a shame no one ever came up with an opener / upgrade kit to fit another, better case.

      I agree. I'm going to try my best to find a compatible case and make a video about that! Also, perhaps there's a way to get the crystal off in one piece. I have some broken 22 jewel chronos to experiment with. Thanks for your comment!

    Working a lot on repairing them. This is a great video and it would be amazing to see how you reassemble them together. The small gears on the motors and the metal shield are key.

    I think you’re the only person on the internet that has mentioned what exact ETA movement was used in these old 90’s 12-hour Swatch chronos. I can’t find a single piece of evidence anywhere online. Although it appears that the eta 251.262 is a 27 jewel movement, but on the back of the Swatch caseback it says 22 jewels. Bit confusing.

    • @IMakeWatches
      @IMakeWatches  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for your comment! I love it that you noticed that! If anyone else is interested I show this movement's caliber number at 25:30. And like @rawz05 I can't find any mention of this caliber being used in the Swatch Chrono anywhere, nor can I find a 22 jewel version of it. I might have to break some more Chronos to see which jewels they left out, if they gave it a new caliber number in later 22 jewel chronos, and just how deep this rabbit hole goes!

    I have the Swatch Grand Prix Chronograph , it works but the dial is loose 😢 would be repairable if i sent to Switzerland to Swatch ? Or these really are watches that can't be opened and repairable?

    • @IMakeWatches
      @IMakeWatches  Рік тому +1

      In general the yellow plastic Grand Prix like other Chronos of that design are not repairable because the plastic crystal is ultrasonically welded (melted plastic to plastic) onto the case plastic. But the hands should keep the dial from moving. Is it just jiggly or what are the symptoms of it being loose exactly?

    Hold on, wait a minute!...
    If that is really an ETA251262 it currently has a value of between €141.00 €245.44 with a dial (Chrono24) It's not a disposable mechanism at all, on the contrary it's very repairable.
    You could put it in another case, if you don't destroy it already :O

    • @IMakeWatches
      @IMakeWatches  Рік тому +1

      Ha! Hi Oscar! It is an ETA 251262, and it's clearly a very well made movement. But after 30 years it's questionable how much more time it has on it without a full service and a new case. Probably better to buy a new one. www.watchys.ch/fr/mouvements/5274-mouvement-eta-251262.html I paid less than US$8 including shipping for the Chrono in the video: www.ricardo.ch/fr/a/swatch-uhr-chronograph-1218330788/ Chrono24 pricing reflects what sellers want for an item, not the market value! 😂😂😂

    Hi. I always enjoy watching your videos with great interest. I have a question about microscopes. If you don't mind, could you please answer it? I was influenced by your equipment and purchased the same double-arm compound microscope set just like yours. I am satisfied with the microscope and camera images, but there is a problem with the arms. There are two places where the arm can be tilted as you know but the grip strength of the one without a lever is weak and it easily moves due to gravity. I'm referring to the part that you tilt and use. Have you experienced the same problem? I contacted Eakins support but it hasn't been resolved yet.

    • @IMakeWatches
      @IMakeWatches  Рік тому +1

      In my experience it works but it's not meant to be adjustable so if you want to change it without using a tool it's not really designed for that. I kind of do it anyway -- force a position change when it's semi-tight -- but I agree that's not ideal. . If it's always too loose and you can't even get it to lock with a hex key then you may have a stripped thread or some other problem. I'll look at mine again and see if there might be a way to put a levered handle on it instead of a hex bolt. That would be a nice upgrade for mine as well if it's something we can just do ourselves!

    • @kojitakeda794
      @kojitakeda794 Рік тому

      @@IMakeWatches Thank for your reply. I can't lock it in any position even when I tighten it up all the way with a tool. I already stripped the threads and I'm assuming that the each thread are not close enough to get a strong grip to the rod.

      @@IMakeWatches Thank you so much! It's getting looser not even semi-locked any more and I can only use this arm back and forth. I found out that Amscope double arm has so many levers and looks more sturdy but more expensive. As you mentioned it would be nice if I could modify it.

    Hello does anyone know the exact size of the glass for the classic chrono models? Like grand prix scj101 / wall street scb106...Models from 91 - 92 etc? I've managed to open one so far and changed the mechanism but I need to add a new glass and not sure about the exact size. Thanks in advanced

    • @IMakeWatches
      @IMakeWatches  Рік тому +1

      I just measured three of them (one 21 jewel Chrono from 1991 and two 4 jewel Chronos from later) and they all measure 33.5mm. Also, if you search Ebay for Swatch crystal that number (33.5mm) will come up as an option so I'm pretty sure that's the correct diameter.

      The difficult part will be getting the old movement out without damaging the case or crystal (I would say this is impossible if it's a plastic chrono, and I have never tried it with a metal one). After you get the movement out it will be marked as to which caliber it is!
