I was wondering that. In my comment I was saying that if I restored something like this, I would have added some tools or functionality to it, like a glass breaker or something. A can opened would be good too. It's not really a "secret" pocket knife if it has no other use. It's just a two part knife that has a blade that can be flipped to go inside the handle.
I have a collection of these, all made in Soviet prison work camps. They are each unique and artistically crafted. Yes, most of them have bottle openers on them, either on the barrel or the reverse end of the blade. That's what the broken piece had been.
So the administrators of Soviet prisons have actually forced prisoners to produce these elaborate shanks, so that they could be sold to the public for profit?
I was wondering. I figured that what was broken off wouldn't likely be cylindrical -- it needs to be a decent handle to open the knife. I'm also guessing that these have become fairly rare, they don't look like much when not in knife form. Soviet prisons! Wow.
I actually have one of these. Not as old and it is literally a tube that has threading on one end and the other is rounded with a hole you could put a keychain ring through… the idea is that you could carry it on your keys and have a small blade (for defense?) or hold it in your fist for punching. I don’t carry it because it’s a concealed weapon but I like to collect odd stuff like this…

Looks great! I probably would have added some tools or uses to it, like a glass breaker or some other things. I don't think it was meant to be that kind of restoration though. I'm not sure what the original was meant to look like though, since the outside end wad broken off.
Your shop must be huge with a million different tools LOL. Great work, love your attention to detail. That stuff looks like white baking powder, but I bet it is something else.

Looks great but you basically got rid of the knurling which I think was important. I think that was a mistake. You made it a decorative piece instead of a functional piece
It's true! I agree, but no one but me noticed his gross mistake of putting it in acid! The author is an idiot. That knife was never meant to be the way he made it! Because it wasn't supposed to be so shiny and ornate, but the author just destroyed the protective oxide layer! The result is a friggin' “dildo” whose surface is shiny in every direction! It wasn't the rust that made it so dark, it was the protective oxide layer! At most, you should have rinsed the case well in plain water, rather than dissolving its coating in acid !!!!. Now, with the notch and the protective layer of the case destroyed, this knife is useless !!!!. One idiot destroyed a good and functional knife, other idiots started to praise it and put likes !!!!.
Wow I give you a 10 out of 10 because the scale didn't go any higher. Truly amazing job and attention to detail. I wish I was able to do work like you do! Very nice piece and I would like to have a knife like that sometime. Thanks for the video and the ASMR to boot. Relaxing for sure. A+

На противоположной стороне клинка, там, где обломано, там была открывалка для пивных пробок.
у меня почти такой же есть, и тоже отломана открывашка. они похоже на всех таких ножах сломаны
Такие делали в местах заключения,только гораздо качественее

Do you just use the bottle opener as the handle? I have one that screws back onto the tube…

what is the name of this sharpener? Ive been looking for one for so long.

You should knurl the bottom of the plug so you can grip it better when you unscrew the blade out.
Match the knurling of the main cylinder.

Kubaton and knife combination, I have one similar to this. The knife that is stored in the barrel is like a double edged dagger.
