    The pathfinder tool is everything. I probably use it 98% if the time I'm in illustrator working on a project.

      Yeah tell me about it, it is essential for graphic design, and to think I didn't use it for the first 1-2 years of my career lol

    hey great tutorial as always ! have you considered making a series where you critique your viewers' work ? that would be great !

      I actually did that for 2 episodes, the first episode had 2 people send in work, and the second one had a few. But also it didn't get many views at all, so I figure people don't want to see that on my channel.. I may do it when my channel is a little bigger too.
      Thanks for the input :)

    Turning strokes into filled shapes and Turning multiple objects to be trimmed into compound paths is the key to success with pathfinder. I remember ripping my hair out many times trying to figure that out. They definitely could have made the pathfinder tools a little more intuitive.

      It is a process of learning, trial and error etc. I have pulled some hair out in my time too lol

    One correction here, you dont have to outline font to achieve the desired effect as shown in your tutorial. The trick is, create a circle and place the text on the circle like you did, then select all, hold down the "ALT" key windows "Option" mac and click on "Exclude".. Its better this way because the text is still editable....

      ohhhh this is a good one! I didn't actually know this function. Consider yourself pinned!

      Thanks, i learn a lot from you so, its fair game. I never outline fonts in Illustrator unless i absolutely have to. I do the same in Indesign and Photoshop. Also i can show you how to recolor vectors in indesign.....

    • @JoeBodego
      @JoeBodego 6 років тому +3

      One more thing, to edit the font simply double click and go into isolation mode

      Thanks again Joe. Where did you pick this function up? I have never heard of it before.

    • @SatoriGraphics
      @SatoriGraphics  6 років тому +1

      I will write some notes down for future videos based on this. I have shown live painting and swatches in other tutorials, but nothing in depth I guess. Thanks buddy. What exactly did you mean by shadow in portraits btw, can you send a link to an image as an example?
