@@willpatersondesign I already watched quite a few videos of you, so I do know the process now pretty well, but I liked the video yes. Tbh I like the mockup part the most when designing a logo. It really shows how it comes all together and I think you're very good at that. So would like to see more of that, but do what makes you feel good!
It's always fun and interesting to see different takes on the same design. I love the brand identity you've created, especially the use of the icon to make wheat! 🌾 But I have to say... I really like the original design as well. I think the leaf is actually really subtly used in this case. You could also argue that the fact that most tech/a.i. logos are clean with sharp corners, would make this design stand out more. The round corners give a more friendly vibe, which fits with the audience who care about the planet. That's what I saw anyway. 😊

I recently discovered this channel while trying to learn how to create a logo and a brand for something actually very similar. Instead of carbon footprint, it is an app that combines AI with waste sorting. I am not a graphic designer but a product designner so I lack a lot of knowledge.

Hey Will, all your videos are great and entertaining. A lot of them are very informative too when it comes to designing things. I think it would be great if you gave us tutorials when it comes to printing things. Most know that you have to use files in CMYK mode but sometimes when printing the colors are still off. I'm sure there are more things to take into account and it would really be appreciated if you guide us :D

i like the first one. the redesigned one makes it feel like a logo for a game. and the green diamond shape is similar to the we have seen in the sims games
The redesign is awesome, you could even do without the icon itself and just make the arm and leg of the k that green colour! I also am a sucker for a good wordmark so that might be why 🙈

In 12:30 the black portion should be the same color as the logo's text, with maybe a nav header to place the logo in for contrast. Also although the redesigned logo looks VERY nice it seems a bit to corporal.

Very cool design, my minor issue is that letter 'a' seem a bit bigger with the rest of the letter or is it because the k is quite thin?

I like your videos as a self-taught graphic designer there is a little imposter syndrome. I like that you show the thinking behind the shape, people take different paths until that little magic sparkle illuminates the good idea. What is the app that you use when you are sketching on the iPad? Keep up the great work!
I use Adobe Fresco (great for precision) and Procreate for sketching.

Just one thing about the logo, the space between 'l' and 'i' is not the the same with 'm' (For more consistency)

sometimes its quite interesting how the professional thinks when doing things and then charges,
and then customers, dont even understand, care, dont even have time to appreciate the meaning and all that
for us customers it's just a woosh and when i see that i know whats going on, however i cant see much more.

I liked how the semicircular shape of the icon somehow represented the increasing problem of the global warming. And the fact that we need to act to lessen its effects.
IMHO the polys could have different colors as well. Slightly turning from red to green, to reflect that even more. It would have worked great as well if the first left horizontal poly served as the “i” dot. That would integrate the symbol as part of text, but still preserve it’s own identity.

What software do u use in mind mapping 😮
I like the color, but there are things that just don't work for me. The spacing between the "i" and the "m" just looks sloppy, the "a" is very rounded while everything else, especially the K and the logo, are flat sharp edges. It feels like a technology company, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's a company that produces heater and heat elements, maybe ovens or kitchen related stuff as well.
I think the original has more of a climate, nature vibe to it, but the K is overdone. I like the redesign, but I think you'd critique the heck out of your logo, if it would be presented to you a few weeks down the road. Would be great to see you revisit it later.
Here's the explanation you can use for the logomark, it is a sun rising which indicates a new healthy planet lol, i create logos first i give backstories of what it indicates 😂😂

Mind map - I have a Skillshare class that can help with this but in a nut shell: You're trying to convey the IDEA, not the PRODUCT.

The negative space at the right of the logo makes the icon seem like it's slanted or falling into the type.

As a brand designer, when you're doing those mockups... if a client were to see the billboard design, for example, and says, "I want that!" - how to do you charge for it ethically? The work is already done, so you can't say that you have to recreate it or that they need to pay for the time to do it... right? Would love some insight on this.
I would just give them the mockup, I always prefer to over-deliver rather than under-deliver on work, and I don't like micro-charging or upselling either, so my clients will nearly always end up with more than what they pay for when they work with me.

you turned something pro-nature into a wheel tire producer company imo lol
- new letters are more in your face and more thick compared to old ones, except for K which appears thinner than the rest - it contains more whitespace inside it, compared to narrow-bold feeling of the font. the K itself is not self-consistent, as the line on the left appears lighter than the squares on the right. old letters felt calmer, old K was bigger than the rest of the letters to make it look even less like uppercase shouting
- old logo's curves felt more natural/pro-nature, every part of it was trying to say "im a leaf" without really violating modern minimalism or whatever that is. new logo its very blocky and makes it kind of appear more premium, shouting "im a corporation", which is the opposite of fighting carbon emissions

Honestly, apart from the inconsistency in the thickness of the K compared to the other letters, I actually prefer the original. It had an interesting idea that stepped away from the same old technical junk everyone uses but stayed close to an eco-friendly look with the rounding (at the same time making it appear more friendly).
My exact tought about this redesing. The original looks great. No redesign needed. The one Will made looks way to technologie orientated. And the way the "m" and "a" looks are triggering me hard.
I dont know if youre aware of this but for sone reason the promotion in the video turbed me away. Just coming back on here to share sone feedback.
I dont know if youre talking about sonething you dont believe in or if all the videos are designed around sponsorships but its creating a disconnection, at least in this viewer (me). And i kinda wantt to see you make changes to the designs, which is always fun, but i cant tell whats you and whats not.
Or maybe this particular video just didnt resonate with this 1 viewer (thats me again). All in all, i enjoy listening to your feedback and getting an insight into your experience and what works for you ✌️

really cool to see your process, some good ideas in the logo, but the final product is a bit meh, especially the m and a letters. I just had a look at Klima's website and their new logo is pretty slick and a nice upgrade.
