I just want to add in some advice for anyone attempting this: be very careful with loosening this bolt holding the valve in place. I tried it with a regular 10mm wrench and ended up rounding the bolt badly. Had to buy a new bolt from Honda directly, which was 6 bucks. Ended up getting it to break loose eventually, but it was a nightmare. Anyways, thanks for the video z-speed!
Having trouble rn with that
How did you remove it
@@diazepamrx6799 I had a mechanic buddy use a tool (forgot the name) that allows you to press against the rear of the engine bay and force a wrench to hold onto the bolt and then turn with all your might lol
Just ordered mine long overdue great video 👍
2018 Si here with 28k. Glad I stumbled on this video, got a catch can on the way and I will for sure go ahead and replace the PCV now as well.....
Thanks so much for watching!👍💯🏁
Wow I’m so glad I stumbled across this video I’ve owned my 2018 hatch for about 2 years and never knew this I’ve put over 60k miles and never once touched that😅 thanks for this informative video definitely will be changing it out! It makes sense why my engine oil burns so quickly
Thanks so much for watching 👀!
Highly appreciated!!..Excellent video, sir!!
Great video man will definitely be using this great instruction tomorrow to fix mine
OMG. Forgot about it. Will pick up the part at the dealership tomorrow. My 2017 Civic EXL coupe is almost 70k now.
I had no clue man! Thanks. Ill have to swap it out
Thanks so much for watching.👍💯🏁
@Z-speed I tried to torque to 15lb-ft and heard a crack and pop, turned out to just be the bolt breaking but the female threads were in tact in the valve cover. No damage to the new Pcv valve but definitely a scary moment. I’d recommend just snugging it like you did in the video to anyone else although worst case scenario new valve covers are only $150 on these
Were you able to drive it ?? @Ben’s Cars
@@6ixpathssage857happen to me too. I heard it pop. But I did it on my 2018 Honda accord 1.5 40k miles and I drove it, no issues or lights came on.
Great
Part # 17130-59B-003 Yellow PCV Valve
What does it do? I been on many 10th gen civic forums and never seen anyone mention this. But i’ll definitely do this as it’s super easy and quick. Car is almost at 70k tuned 40k miles.
5:15 explains what the valve does and why it should be changed every 50-60 thousand miles!
@@Zspeed I must of missed it. Thanks.
At 70k and just getting to mine.
sounds easy I don't think was never done beats paying a piss amount of $$$ at the dealership getting it repaired
Why does the link tells in Amazon it's for CR-V
Be careful, Amazon my not carry the correct PCV valve for the 10th Gen Civic, especially the Civic Si, if possible get it from your local Honda dealership!
what do you use to keep your engine clean?
303 aerospace protectant!
Hey man I have a question hopefully you can get back to me
I got a code p0304 cyl 4 misfire 2017 civic si I have replaced the spark plugs already and moved around the ignition coils and after driving I still have the same code
What do you recommend me doing next?
I would move cylinder 4 spark plug to cylinder 2 and scan the car again, it could be a faulty new plug or a problem with the gap! How many miles do your coil packs have on them? If plug and coil packs check out okay, then it could be a vacuum leak or fuel injection problem, hope this helps!
Should you have pre-oiled the O-rings on the PCV before you install the new one?
That definitely wouldn't hurt anything, but it's not necessary because they will become very oily quite soon! Thanks so much for watching!👍💯🏁
Nice video bro but does the new pcv valve on this model needs to sound like something is inside as a other vehicles model pcv ones ? Or this type of pcv don’t need to make any noise ? Thank you 🙏
No, I gave it the shake test, but nothing happened!! So this PCV valve will not have a clicking sound! Thanks so much for watching!🏁💯👍
@@Zspeed thank you for letting me know than I was about to return my new pcv vale thinking that It came out bad 😂😂 but thanks 🙏 so probably my was still good but I still put a new one 🙏 thanks for replying fast brother 🙏
my 2018 civic is is smoking out the exhaust after idling and I give it a shot of fuel. I was told maybe exhaust valve seals are bad. have you ever done those on the civic?
How many miles on your Civic, if it's around 100,000 miles I doubt it's the valve seals. The latest problem with the 1.5 liter turbo is a lot of blown head gaskets, especially on the Accord and some of the 2020 Civics! Have someone scope the spark plug tube to look for a antifreeze in the cylinder. Hope this helps and let me know if you figureout what's going on!
Does this repair all the lights that show up on the dash ?? This was one of the codes I got to replace pbc valve
What codes are coming up on your car?
@@Zspeed the traction control, brake system
@@Zspeed the lane departure warning I went to the dealer and they want $180 just to look at it ??😮
Part # please?
17130-59B-003
Yes!
I have a 2020 civic si and I got a check engine light with a po2187 what do you recommend my car just hit 20,000 miles
Have you modified your car in any way? If not, you should take your car to the dealership!
@@Zspeed yeah I am fbo clutch fp/dp tune intake big inter cooler exhaust my warranty is already voided what part should I replace to get ride of that po2187 code?
It's not a problem with any parts, your air/ fuel ratio is probably running lean or rich! You need a tune, Hondata or K-tuner would be my choice!!!👍 There is one other possibility, you may have a vacuum leak somewhere.
Where can I order this pcv valve?
Here is the link : amzn.to/3IxrMzO or your local Honda dealer!
I accidentally got the red one for a si which had yellow. Will it hurt anything to run the red until I get the correct one?
I would not run the non Si PCV valve, just use your old one until you get a replacement!
I just saw this video and I have an si. Would you mind giving me that part number?
Go to 6:02.
In what manual or service info are you getting this change interval from?
Repairpal.com
@@Zspeed That's a repair chain of garages, I cant find any recommended or published interval to do a PCV valve on a Honda, not even in the S/M. I'm just curious as to what the interval is based on as I have never seen a Honda PCV valve go bad or cause any issues for that matter. If your testing leads to checking it and its OK it goes back in. If this is changed a lot or fails due to Mods I would be wondering what the failure mode is. You have some good content 🚙
Thank you so much I have a air leak coming from there can that cause you’re engine to run rich and can that cause air fuel ratio to be imbalance?
If you replace the PCV valve on your Civic the new gasket on the valve should seal the leak! I'm not sure if a leak in the valve cover would cause your car to run rich! Check your mass air flow sensor and clean it if needed, also check for vacuum leaks!
@@Zspeed thank you sir and sure we’ll
@@Zspeed any chance you can make a video of cleaning the maf on the si ?
What website can I get this ?
Get it from your local Honda dealership!!!
Hey man. Loving your videos. I’m in pell city. 10th get SI. Acura RSX. Mini Cooper roadster. I’ll love to pick your brain on mods for SI. How can I contact you? Are you on insta?
