Hell yeah, I actually have been tying this exact thing for a while now on some 1/64th oz jigs I pour myself! I bought a bunch of hen capes to tie feather changers and I have WAY more than I need, so I am always looking for new patterns to use these up on and this one is legit! As productive for smallmouth as the feather changer, imo.

Killer pattern. And really like the presentation with the outdoor ambience...birds chirping and the train whistles. Nice 👍 Looking forward to the crawfish pattern!

Gunnar, this would be a great Float n Fly pattern for those wintering Smallies.

Thank you, now I know what to do with three chicken hides I got from a friend of mine last year. I actually got 10 but it was way too much work to process more than 4 of them so I did that and gave one away to Sleddy at Schultzy's. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.

watched your stuff for a long time, great to see you moving down to a 4Wt, Missed the line your using but if you have not have a look at an OPST line on your 4 wt, makes chucking meat on a light rod more fun.

Great fly! I have a feeling this will soon be my favorite in the box. I’ve been using marabou ones like it for bass but not palmering and they work good,.but I think these will be better. Heading out with 4wt in a while...after I tie up some of these. Thanks! Best wishes 🎣

Interesting and fairly easy technique for this one dude. I’ll give it a go. Thank you for another one. Keep keeping safe.

Your way of tying in the flash reminds me a bit of the way the magic minnow is tied by kanalgratis. They form a very small ball of dubbing with the hands and tie it in. Afterwards, they grab a brush to free trapped dubbing. Maybe that's a good way to have a "clean" tie?
Edit: I just tried to tie your jig with the kanalgratis technique. I really like the result, the jig is very wispy and naturally looking, but underneath there is quite a bit of flash.

Super silly of me, but I always get a little triggered when I see mono thread used. Entirely my problem, I understand there's nothing inherently wrong with it, but HERESY! Awesome video keep them coming.

Maybe I missed it, but why use a 90 over a 60 degree hook?

Hey Gunnar, great pattern! Are there other hen feathers you could use for variety of colors? This is just a totally sick pattern and I think it has awesome possibilities, but my bird knowledge is very limited.

Hi, this question is a little off topic, but…. I have noticed in your videos that you tie on HMH vises. I am thinking of buying either a renzetti saltwater or a HML spartan. I have been tying on a griffin spider now for a year and want to step up. I am surf caster in Florida so I am targeting Snook, Jack’s, pompano and hopefully the occasional tarpon. I also fish ponds for largemouth, so my hook range is 6-3/0 with an occasional larger hook.
I am leaning toward the renzetti, because of price, included bobbin holder and true rotational capability, but I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts should you want to share.
    Thank you, Tom

Cool bug! Thanks for your videos. Are you fishing it with a sinking tip leader?

Use the world's strongest UV light, the sun. No need for UV light :) Great fly and great baitfish answer. Do you find it sinks too slow?
