  • My first solo over night trip from Mill Creek Summit to Mount Pacifico campground. This hike is 6 miles one way, that makes it a 12 mile round trip; 2200' elevation gain. On the summit of Mt. Pacifico you are at 7124' and you can see panoramas over Antelope Valley and the Mojave Desert.
    It is said that there is a all year spring on the summit, but i couldn't find it. So please if you know where it located, can you please message me, write a comment, take me there, or show me. I really would like to know because it was drag carrying water up there.
    All in all this was a fun trip for me. sorry for the shaky camera, I plan on improving as I continue making videos.
    And also if you wish to join me on my next trip or like to have me join yours. Please feel free to message me. I primarily hike the the San Gabriels (fyi)
    this trail is "Hike 56" from a book called
    '100 Hikes in the San Gabriels - Trails of the Angeles' by John W. Robinson.
    And also I mentioned a fellow youtuber, which who gave me inspiration to make a video

    As a rule of thumb, Moss does not ALWAYS grow on the north side of trees. In other words, don't rely on it. Enjoyed the hike... Keep em' coming.

      Nice to hear you enjoyed. I've camped out with pharroah out in Glenn camp one night. Great guy and really knowledgeable in these mountains. I'm planning a 3 day winter trip in January, I'm planning on making a video for that as well. Thanks for your comment!

    Very nice video, I enjoyed hiking along with you. I am an old timer and have hiked most of the trails in the San Gabriel's, San Gorgonio, San Jacinto, and Sierra trails. I started hiking in 1946 with the Boy Scouts and continued for many years. Love to see your camping spot and relaxing with a couple cans of beer over a camp fire after a long hike, same as I did every time I camped out. Thank you for posting this enjoyable video !!

      Yup, there's nothing else like having a few cold ones by a camp fire! Thank you for enjoying my trip. It was my first time out there alone, and I was relatively new to backpacking. You should check out my other videos, this year I have big trips planned. As well as a man that's also on youtube named Pharroah. He goes on trips all the time, you will enjoy his videos too.

      +ManFrom1992 Over half of mike hikes have been solo, I guess I love being alone in the wilderness, because I really get into meditation and clear thinking with no distractions. I enjoy hiking with friends too, but it is more like a spiritual experience when solo hiking. One hike in 1980 on the John Muir trail I spent 10 days alone, and I shall never forget that amazing trip !!

    really nice video. might try it over the weekend since I'll be in the area. from mill summit I might go up the PCT until it turns left along Mt Gleason rd then traverse across the ridges and canyons for a good day hike. But now Mt Pacifico looks good too!

    Nice trip!
    The springs are east of the summit, on the PCT. When we were there several years ago, the larger one crossed the trail as a small creek, with the spring itself upslope in dense brush.

    • @JulianGuevaraphoto
      @JulianGuevaraphoto  10 років тому

      Ahh I see, so if I stayed on the pct heading east and skip the junction (the truck trail) that leads you to the peak, I would see the spring? I hope I made sense..

    • @MarkAndShelleyHike
      @MarkAndShelleyHike 10 років тому +1

      Yes, just keep going on the PCT.
      My GPS recorded the location of the big spring as lat="+34.380706446" lon="-118.027246557". The PCT is open there, so it should be easy to find the spot.
      We were there before the Station Fire or the recent drought, so I don't know exactly what it's like now. But there was a section of dense brush with a nice little stream going right across the trail. You couldn't miss it.

    I think that was pretty cool of you to just up and go for it. I subbed cuz this takes heart. That and the fact that you skated from Camp Glenn, took a spill and walked it off like a champ. There's some mines and stuff I want to go check out on that side Angeles off the 14 I believe. Anyways, nice trip.

      Power Courage and Wisdom thank I appreciate it!!! You should see the adventures that are off camera, I broke my leg cliff diving out near lake arrowhead. I believe I made a video that showcasing the old mines off of the 14 freeway
      Thanks for watching, I'll be posting a new one soon

      Julian Guevara - hit me up if you ever want to go locally in Azusa to either Forks. I'm hurt from Jiu-Jitsu right now but I can do small stuff and could camp overnight type deal. You look like good people and a family man just like me. Take care of dude and I hope we see us sometime. You can see me in pharraohs video of the meet up at Little Jimmy camp couple weeks back. Great vid. Nothing like a solo to equalize and get back to you and Mother Earth.What camera are you using and what editing software?I'm having a hard time with either to big of video files from my iPhone, and then losing quality during file conversion so that Windows Movie Maker can open the file. WMM doesn't like MP4 files.

    For this video I used the canon 60d. And I just put it together on windows movie maker haha. But in order for me to edit it in windows I had convert it. I forgot what format I had to convert it to.
    My newer videos tho are filmed and edited stray on and from my iPhone6! I found it to be much easier. Check out my recent videos and compare the quality

    Great video. When was that? I wanna go up in the San Gorgornio mtns during the winter and camp in the dry or dollar lake area. I've heard it's amazing. I've been up there in summer a couple times already so I'm semi familiar with the trails and route. I think it would require snow shoes tho. Merry xmas. I admire your appreciation for natural beauty.

      +Ramon Lerma I can't remember. But it took me about 3 to 4 hrs. I was out of shape and had a heavy pack. I'm sure it can be done in a short amount of time now.
      But hey you won't know for sure untill you try it for your self
