It’s a great campground, one of my favorites. I think I’m adjusting my music expectations, it’s seems that is becoming the norm, when I hear it now I’m like “it is what it is” I still won’t play my music though, but I try not to let people’s music bother me anymore. Let me know if you ever make it to that site!
Thanks for your video. McGill was a surprise actually, we've driven up there but never camped. On our list! Sycamore is also a favorite our ours and we try to go midweek, but it is always pretty busy. We are headed to Red Rock Canyon next week!
Awesome video. Ive been camping southern Californiafor 30 years and you mentioned a couple new spots for me. The sierras are great but sometimes you need a closer getaway
About half a mile further up from McGill is Chula Vista Campground, also at 8,300’ elevation. From the Mt Pinos ranger station parking lot it’s a very short 2 minute walk to the campground. Well maintained, with picnic tables, fire pits, and pit toilets, this is a first come first served campground. The best part is this campground is FREE!
Hi, thanks for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I just looked online and for some odd reason it's temporarily closed. www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/lpnf/recarea/?recid=10989
Hi! We’ve seen RVs in all of them. Unfortunately we don’t have one so I don’t know the size. The best would be to go on their website for the reservations, I’m sure you can get the info there. Best of luck!!
I remember growing up people have fires all over the beach it was awesome you have a good time California as years go on it keeps getting worse and worse more sucky than it was last year
Nice video great information, BUT, All of these places are way severely to far away from Los Angeles, A person will spend well over $175 There and $175 on gas alone
I think a couple of hour drive to get away from LA is a pretty good time! $175 on gas? I mean if you drive a car that gives you 5 mpg maybe, but to drive back and forth it cost us around $70, let’s say $100 on food, and let’s say $70 for the site for a couple of nights. I think $250 for a family of four to take a small break is a pretty good deal! If you stay at a hotel it would be at least $250 on the hotel alone, eating out for a couple of days another $150-200, plus the gas no?
@@Jose-sy1je we actually haven’t gone there during the weekend, but it never seems to be too busy. Yes, we did make it a little more north, we went to Morro Bay, we’ll make a video about it soon.
@@filmsbyone That's a nice area. I just don't like that power plant there right at the beach. Nice campgrounds as well I heard. You should look into Wheeler Gorge as well. It's not too far and pretty nice.

It's not really fun anymore when people turn the whole place into a town. I mean, riding bikes? Just do that in your community. So the serenity of the park is gone then. I can look at people in my community not at a peaceful park. LOL
Believe me I know! That was my first experience camping. Funny part is that I didn’t set it up, my wife’s family did, and they are the camping masters 😂😂
Mr Blasquez, you can't and shouldn't force your opinions on others. Here in America, it is customary to BBQ, drink beer and play music at the campground. Perhaps you are a bit confused about the nature of the activities; if you like silence with your camping, you should engage in dispersed camping or go to retreats that have a code of silence. No disrespect, but you got to be the first Latino I see who doesn't like music. All other Lationos and Hispanic people whom I know, love to blast their music all the time everywhere ( pure vida)
I agree that disperse camping is a good choice, and I’m ok with people playing music. I’m not forcing my opinion on others, but I do have the right to have an opinion, you may not like it and feel sensitive about it, but it’s still my opinion. I’ve been camping for MANY years in many different places, and it honestly is never really a big problem (minus lake Perris, someone playing a trumpet at 7 am) people who camp tend to be more considerate of others, at least I am, I wouldn’t assume that people want to listen to my specific taste of music. When I go into nature I rather listen to birds, the creek, people talking, kids playing than listen to someone’s taste in music. For grilling, drinking beer and music, I have a kick ass patio. Sorry to disappoint by being a Latino that doesn’t dance and play music loud haha. But you are right, I should just expect to people play their music and be ok with it.
Love learning about new camping spots. Been by 3 of them, but haven't stayed yet. Time to change that. Thank you.
@@jimc386 so glad to hear! Which one has been your favorite so far?

So glad you found it helpful!
Thanks for the info! I was looking for places close to L.A. to camp and this list is perfect 😀
Thanks so much for this! I had no idea about the last 3 sites and they're so close to me. Much appreciated!
Let us know if you make it to any of those!
Oh wow thanks so much, I like quiet and peaceful campgrounds full of trees. And I do not like playing music when camping also lol

You would probably enjoy El Capitan state beach Campground near Santa Barbara .
Thank you for the suggestion, we’ve been there a few times! We’ve rented a cabin and stayed in a tent as well. Definitely a good place.
Thank you for the video Juan, any info on how to reserve for McGill Campground?

I've been glamping for over 10 years and now getting back into off road camping. I'm really trying to get away from people.
Great video! Question, I have a 28ft class c, which one would be an easier drive-and-pull up campsite for a Class C RV?

I know for a fact a 30 foot Class C RV, It would take $175 gas there and back
