This video was precipitated by a recent tragedy in Nebraska. If you haven't already heard about it, check out this article by @drivinandvibin drivinvibin.com/2024/06/24/rvers-attacked/
You are not crazy! I’m a retired police officer and my son is an officer in San Antonio TX. The world has changed so much and it makes us sad and mad. Everyone needs to take their own protection in the own hands. We really need to pray for the country right now.
LEO and retired LEO can carry in every state. If you are a regular Joe Smoe like most of us you are charged with a felony in disgusting states like Maryland, New York and Illinois. In my home state and states that recognize my concealed carry permit I always carry a gun. I don’t have as much as as a speeding ticket on my record. Shame on LEO in states like New York and Maryland who enforce these draconian laws. How do they sleep at night? Disgusting. They are directly responsible for tragedies such as this. I am traveling to Nebraska in my RV this summer to meet my brother at a campground for a week. He is from Oregon. I had planned on staying at a rest area for a night. After reading about this attack, I booked a campground instead. Politicians who support these laws and law enforcement who have the audacity to enforce these laws have stripped me of my right to protect myself and my family. The law as usual, does apply to them. They are as usual, is most situations, above the law and have the ability to protect themselves and their families Absolutely shameful. If you are active LEO or retired LEO I am interested in hearing your rationale behind enforcing these laws that directly violate the Second Amendment rights of the majority of citizens and put individuals and families at risk to suffer a tragedy such as this.
When we RV and park in our motorhome we always take our seat belts and put them through the handles of the doors so someone cannot jimmy the door open. Stay safe and God Bless!
Unless you live in NY or CA, then either way you're screwed unless you use less than lethal defense, like a Byrna launcher. Legal in all 50 states. UA-cam will explain details.
Very good advice. As a combat Vet, I would add one thing. With unloaded weapons, practice clearing your RV or house room to room, covering each other. Do it slowly with full light at first, then speed up as you build muscle memory. Then with dim light and finally in total darkness using your weapon light as little as possible. Once you have it down pat, your body will coast through the motions, freeing up more of your brain for situational awareness and reaction to threats. That's why Operators run through the shoot house over and over. Also remember, you are responsible for every round you send down range so be aware of what is beyond your target.
You're describing training and situational awareness that 99+% of the commenters here have no concept of. Your contribution here, while valid, is only juicing the bloodlust expressed here.
As a Truck Driver with 2M miles... We all carry a variety of weapons (Because we are transporting several million dollars of products.) From non-lethal to lethal. We carry gel Mace with dye, Bear spray, clubs, knives, and a side arm (.40 or 9mm women), rifle and shotgun (12ga or 20ga women)... Beware, just showing a gun of any kind in your hand is a Felony charge of Criminal Endangerment! Fire it = Felony Attempted Murder! (Even if you miss!) The bad person has to be inside of your Rig, to Prove Self Defence. If they are running away from you, You still get those charges! If you obtain the big 3 Conceal Carry permits you are covered in all fifty States. A weapon is Useless if you are outside of the vehicle, and the weapon is on the inside! Whether it is Wildlife going to eat/kill you... Or a Bad human. Truck Stops and Rest Areas are Dangerous places! Most have Homeless camps with Psychotic or persons on very dangerous drugs! These camps are also in Dispersed Camping areas where very few RVers are camping! If the area is all trashed with a lot of garbage... Go somewhere else! Pay Attention to Your 6th Sense! If you don't feel good about an area... Get the hell out of the area! You can drive another 5 miles and it should be safe. You should alway take a few minutes to checkout the area, people and other vehicles. Don't get out of the Safety of your Vehicle until you have! Run the Safety Belts through the arm rests of the Front Doors and buckle them!
Since California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland will not honor any other state's carry permit, I'm curious what you're talking about.
@rikki2545 he's misinformed. Maybe like 20-30 Years ago, but, I don't think there's ever been 50-state conceal reciprocity. I escaped Commifornia last year and I can guarantee they don't recognize ANY other states ccw. There's also heavy restrictions on WHICH firearms you can bring into ca. They don't even allow the 14" Shockwave or tac-14. Has to be the 18 Inch barrels. Just know your s b4 u go to kaliforniastan because they aren't very nice about giving warnings
You are wrong about the carry permits. There are about a dozen liberal states that you are not going to get a carry permit unless you live there or are a cop.
I’m a retired Officer from the free state of Alabama.. there is no proactive police work any more. I tell everyone that you better protect yourself and your family because to the police, unfortunately, you’re just a victim that requires a case report with a supplemental. I travel much like you. The only thing I would add is to carry yourself with confidence. Criminals are like dogs… they can sense the weak but will take a second thought just based on how you walk and watch everything around you. Your own self confidence will keep you out of a lot of issues.
This is true! Rats don’t like to be noticed, that’s why I make eye contact with anyone near me.Let them look away… We love Bama! God bless and than you for your Service🙏🤔
Watching the 2 candidates in the Presidential debate illustrated your point beautifully. One walked in and out like a boss and the other shuffled like a 100 year old man and exuded weakness.
I bought a firearm after I chose to live in an RV full time. Now it is right beside my bed in my tiny house on wheels. I took a CCW class and practiced at the range with a friend who owns multiple firearms. All my grown children own firearms as well to protect themselves.
I'll bet you sleep much better at night knowing your not helpless against some deranged goon trying to break open your door. Don't blame you a bit, in fact I keep NRA stickers on my door windows in case the lunatic can read. My dog is a great alarm telling me when it's time to lock and load. Stay safe.
Continue to practice. We don't travel full-time. We have 38 acres with enough room for our very own target range. Practice is important. Another thing that is important is to think of ways to minimize your risk of having to use it.
Keep going to the range…it’s a great sport! Yes, ammo is expensive, but think of it the same was as golfers do: Fun activity while honing their game with each round they play. 😉
That's a great point. I was recently rearranging because my rig is in the shop, and realized I'm not familiar with my freedom-tool right now. Time to get to target practice!
Rangemaster and firearms instructor here. You guys have absolutely the right idea. I was just watching a video on cargo trailer conversion and was wondering how I would work out firearms storage in an RV, and at the end of that video I see a link to this video. All the laws in the world don't mean anything if you can't protect yourself. Sorry for the length, but I've got some comments. Now that I've seen your entire video, some comments for you. First, yes, please practice and GET TRAINED if you're not...in all your weapons. You carry handguns and the shotgun. Training gives you the opportunity to get better and shakedown your weapons, to be certain they will work when you need them to. Plus there are generally camping destinations at or near where the training takes place, so you can take advantage of your rig. It's great being around a bunch of like-minded folks, too. Second; when you train you should take a class in defensive use of a shotgun, especially when you're talking about box magazine fed, semiauto bullpup shotguns like the one you have. It's a good choice because of its shorter length inside a very cramped RV space. But, there are three main caveats: 1) These guns have been known to have questionable reliability, so you want to go to a class and do the shakedown like I mentioned above to be sure it works; 2) Please don't say things like you can't miss with a shotgun. That's not true. Hence, training...and I would invest in a red dot sight for it, like a Holosun or SIG Romeo 5 that have shakeawake -- the sight will come live as soon as you move the shotgun. I've had a couple of Romeo 5s on a shotgun and a rifle and they work as advertised; 3) Ammo. Don't run birdshot in a defensive shotgun. If someone's in your RV, barricading yourself in a room of your house is not an option. You need to stop the threat now. 00 buckshot is your go to. Birdshot won't get the job done and it's possible, especially in the bullpup guns, that it may not cycle the gun properly leaving you with a malfunction to clear. Also, you need a weapon light or at least a flashlight. Weapon light would be better...and of course training on how to use it properly. I didn't hear you mention lights. Third, a big yes on keeping various firearms to hand in various locations in your RV. I do this in my home, so of course it's the thing to do in your home on wheels as well.
First of all, you're not crazy, you're smart! Me and my wife are both retired LE and always carry several weapons when we travel in our RV. " Better to have it and not need it than, to need it and not have it." The myth about racking a gun or a shotgun will scare the person off by the sound is not true.. Also you can definitely miss your target with a shotgun. The spread really is not that big. The only thing I would add is to add lights and lasers to your weapons. The light helps identify, and the laser lets you stay in cover while you can still put the dot on your target. It's sad, but the whole world has gone crazy! In addition, carrying an AR-15 will give you many more options, you can take on multiple threats, and you can reach out and touch somebody if the situation dictates it. May god bless you and your family. Stay alert, stay safe, and hope this election changes things for the bettter!
wrong,..wife,..alone in rv , had 2 camp overnite in rv shops pkg. lot , ..he lent her shotgun, ..at nite , noise ..criminals,..she racked that gun , ..everyone knows that noise , ( & it aint the beastie boys !!), $#@!!s took off !! get a sawed off shotgun, ( more room 2 swing gun ) semi-auto, multiple pellets , MUCH better odds of hitting criminal, and , if that non- shotgun size , ...projectile/ bullet goes a ways , and hits an innocent human, creature, / pet,... uh-oh !!! ITS THE NOISE!! , lots of criminals hear a gun shot ,... BOOM , they run, something is better than nothing , & u tell the idiots that think guns are alive & the cops will save u , u tell em, ...YOU tell the criminal 2 wait 5 min. till the cops get here !! sheeples !!own guns, people !! AMERICA!!
Thank you for having the courage to put this video up on you tube. People are so unaware of today's reality when it come to crime that they make themselves easy targets for criminals.
As the gun grabbing laws get more unconstitutional, only thing law abiding Americans can do is put personal protection front and center, and unconstitutional laws last. It helps however when your County elected a Sheriff who ran on being a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County who refrains from unconstitutional laws.
I carried concealed all my working life and the years my children were growing up. Open carry is and always has been legal in my state but not concealed.
I love that you're a christian that carries, but prays for God's holy protection first- I do the same. I never thought I would ever carry, but time have changed! Thx for the great ideas on why I should carry even more with me
What was on your roof in Yosemite? A raccoon? A crow? When I van camped in Yosemite I was awoken to find a bear sniffing at my slightly open rear hatch. It left, I went back to sleep.
@@simrdownmon6431 You sure SOUND like a brainwashed coward, so I'm not sure what you mean. Brainwashed: The powers that be tell you, "Give up your 2nd Amendment freedoms", so you quite happily do. Coward: You fear inanimate objects, such as guns (perhaps you also fear knives as well?), _AND_ you want others to protect _you,_ because you are too frightened to protect yourself. You sir, are the very definition of a "brainwashed coward".
@@simrdownmon6431 Brainwashed coward? Wow. You think protecting yourself is cowardly? Ridiculous. Brainwashed? Get over yourself. You've obviously never experienced a violent crime in your life. Good for you. If you do, good luck. Unlike you, your neighbor with a weapon won't have to rely on someone else to hopefully/ maybe show up to protect them and their family.
I have Smith and Wesson.45ACP with a 10 round magazine and 3 extra magazines. And a CCW Smith and Wesson 9mm with 3-8 round magazines and 1-7 round. Keeping up on the laws as you travel is a challenge.
It all sounds good on paper. I ran into a situation in Miami about 20 years ago and I was well prepared so I thought, as a trucker for 29 years I always was well prepared but this time it was different. At 2am someone came knocking on the door and I froze and listened and heard other voices also. Even though I had my gun I felt like a sitting duck because if they started shooting , the walls on the semi truck are thinner than the rv walls. I called 911 and the lights from the squad car must have scared them off. Do not give up your position. Walk softly and leave the lights off until you get a good bead on them but always know that you are responsible for the resting place of the ammunition.
Allen I hear ya. This is why it is important to practice/train in various scenarios. That can get expensive tho. My way forward? Believe it or not, I play Mobile Call of Duty on an iPad. It contains various scenarios, varying weapons, and changing situations requiring regroup and/or replanning. Ridiculous? When I go to the range 99% of my shots are in the bulls eye. My reactions are quick, real time, fast reload, and no flinching. I’m 70 yrs old and I stand by this plan of action. Oh I understand some police use COD Mobile for same reason. Besides it’s a lot of fun. 😎
Being prepared doesn't mean confronting them every time and rarely needing to shoot. Each situation is individual and calls for analyzing the situation (in seconds) and reacting based on that situation. I've had several situations I was glad I carried and I was prepared. One of those I was prepared for a heart shot when the trouble maker (who didn't see me, he was aiming at my husband) chose to raise his hands instead of discharging the pistol he had just slapped a loaded clip in. He had been a troublemaker in the neighborhood for months. He used a city limit line to avoid arrest. Apparently being confronted by a citizen and homeowner helped him realize he could not continue to behave that way in our town and he moved away. Each situation is individual.
100 percent true. Having a gun doesn't mean you are going to get the drop on someone or stand in the street like the wild west. The fantasies are never like reality. If they think you have a gun they will sneak up on you or distract you. You won't even know you were under attack, and then your gun is on the street with the other million guns sold every month this year. The saddest part is just having a gun drastically increases your chances of being shot by accident. It needs to be a last resort.
Thanks for your bravery and openness in letting others know that it’s okay to protect yourselves. I sleep very well while camping, knowing my six little friends are by my side.
I like the ideas, but letting everyone in UA-cam world know where you keep all your guns may not be a good idea. Especially when you are away from your vehicles.
Same thoughts. But love you guys & grateful for the details you share; obviously from your heart. We pray the Armor of God. & for “America The Beautiful “ 🇺🇸 In The Name of Jesus 🙏🏼
Thank you for pushing this message. People are blind to the idea of domestic threats. I support this message! God bless your journeys and god bless those prepared to survive in any situation
Fun story: My John was driving my minivan one evening , after I had been shooting with our ladies group earlier in the day. My range bag was in the car with a few ‘cordless hole punchers “. (We both carry a few too) John got pulled late this evening… waiting fir the LEO arriving to the window we took inventory of all our ‘freedom tools’. Informed the LEO we had about 10 in the car. He asked where they all were and I replied how many were in MY range bag… ..the LEO leans in the window past John and starts asking me about what I shoot & what I recommend as he wants to buy his wife a ‘few’ to get her shooting.🤩 Our whole stop was about what I shoot😂 Never got a ticket and have a great story!
@@dalemuzingo799I avoid that part of the country as the crazies are the ones in uniform! Besides, I have Santa Claus and the Easter bunny watching over me. 😉
Retired large city-LEO here, I've been watching your channel for years. Love them. Two suggestions John: 1. Add a light to those firearms and 2. Yes, call 911 but their response time would be a VERY long time so just assume or plan, that you are on your own when SHTF. It is very sad about the Nebraska incident. Those poor folks were on a major interstate during the day; not like central LA at night, etc.
Have you ever been to a rest stop in Nebraska or any other state late at night or early in the morning, they are scary places, I was on an Iron Butt Run on my motorcycle and had to stop at a Nebraska rest stop to clean the bugs off my visor and windshield, It was just before dusk and the truckers were parking for the night, the cars pulling in were dealers, hookers etc. This was the second time I seen rest stops like this the first time was in Wisconsin and both were in rural areas.
Your 100% spot on with firearms carry while traveling at all times. I'm a retired deputy sheriff, and live full time in my RV. I carry concealed 24/7 and never caught without my weapon on my person. Great video.
John, Mercedes, you guys are right. I always ask the Lord to send Angels around my windows and doors to protect me whether I'm sleeping or driving. This is my first line of defense.
An elderly couple in their RV stopped at a rest area on Interstate 80in Nebraska a week or so ago. They were attacked by a 26 year old man. He killed the husband and he seriously injured the wife. They never saw it coming.. Be safe folks. Always watch your back.
As a Professional Firearm Instructor of more than 25 years and one who has worked in the Security Industry for as many I will say job well done on this video. Focusing on situational awareness as well as our Firearm Basic Fundamentals / Firearm Safety Rules should be part of our daily routine. We should always seek out addition training to make us more disciplined firearm owners. Thank you for having the stones to address this topic. Also, USCCA’s web site has a free map and information on firearm possession in all lower 50 states. If you have any members that are new to firearms I would be happy to answer any questions and offer some direction. Gad Bless and be safe!!!

This subject has come up on other channels and you're perspective is quite impactful. I carry 1 revolver, 1 semi auto pistol and 1 long gun. I have driver's door and mid cabin door on my Winnebago 37F. I sometimes tell my wife, "Hey, real quick, I'll be right back." I don't lock the door. Bad move and now I make sure I always lock the doors. The couple being stabbed in that rest stop was a huge wake up call. Again, you two are very good at trumpeting this message! Bravo!
We agree 100%. I'm going to add: if we are at a campsite, we always walk the perimeter of the campsite and pray. We ask God to station angels around our site and keep us safe. And, to wake us up at night if there is an emergency of some kind.
Beautiful, if 300 million Americans prayed just that in our communities, evil would have no where to hide. As it is our installed officials are inviting evil in, en masse.
you should not keep the key fob so close to the the windows unless in a grounded metal box. It is called a relay attack. A hacker can duplicate the code inside the key fob and create a new one that will allow them to get access to the car.
You have the right to defend yourself. But the criminals have more rights than you. Know the laws of each state, they are all different. Good video. Thank you.
That is why we refuse to ever go back to my former home state of CA!!! Still have lots of family there, but never stepping foot in that state ever again. Left almost 10 years ago clearing out the parents home got some of daddy’s firearms and brought to our FREEDOM state of TN! Made me mad some CA siblings agreed to register their share of daddy’s guns 🤬 dad was rolling in his grave cause he never wanted to register his FREEDOM Tools! ps… we stay out of all states that don’t want our tools there!
Ok, question here. Is it legal to travel down the highway with your gun loaded? In Calif I believe you have to store your ammo separately from your gun. Once you are parked and camping, totally different.
My handicapped wife ALWAYS says just before we pull out- DID YOU PACK THE PEACEMAKER? Even after her stroke she can think clearer than 60% of unarmed Americans voting to take her security away. Little does she know I keep my short-barrel Remington 887 12 gauge right overhead the bed on top of the 9mm she keeps track of. Mine is 9 rounds of 00, if they enter my home all I can say is 'Make my day, and I'm Christian also. Keep up the good work, especially the need for training and the need to be bold with your protection- legally.
God has given us the responsibility for our loved ones and ourselves. With that goes the God given right to protect ourselves and all who depend on us.
@@JonPoklop Democrats just passed a 7% additional tax on ammo to make it out of reach from low income law abiding citizens. In Illinois Democrats ruled the standard AR15 to be banned from purchase/illegal to own. Thank God they were just defeated by the US Supreme courts.
Bird shot, #8, open bore, (no choke), can be quite lethal at 10 - 15 yards. Most all self defense shootings happen well under 25 yards. And in your circumstance, the suspect will most likely be shot entering your trailer. That birdshot is like a slug for the first few yards as the plastic shot cup, that holds the pellets, is pretty dense until it falls away. Always remember that in a self defense situation, all you ever want to do is stop that person from killing you or another person. Training is paramount!! Knowledge of the law is paramount! Get that CCW license that is reciprocal. Never tell people what and where you carry. Off my soapbox now.
I am just very confused and I don't know which way to go. Any help is appreciated. 45-70? 12 Gauge? 10MM? AR10? 9MM? 300 Wim Mag? 44 Mag? AR15? They are all sooooo perfect yet sooooo very different.
I have carried a gun every day for the past 30 years. (most days, I carry two on my person) I was in a McDonalds when it was robbed and they shot their gun inside. I had a gun in the truck, but none on me. Since then, I have never gone un-armed, except for when I am in an airplane, and then I have one in the checked baggage, and put it on in the bathroom once I clear the secured area. There are only 3 types of people. The predators, the un-willing victim that chooses to defend themselves, and the willing victim that relies on the police to save them.
Hey guys from NC! Just wanted to say, Thank you for this video!! Their is so many people out there that for some reason don’t keep an eye on there surroundings. No, you’re not crazy. Your smart! As being retired from the law enforcement profession. This was a very well made educational video. Happy /safe travels. 1972
This is a very good video - better than many viewers may realize. We are each our own first responder to any emergency, and risk assessment and situational awareness are crucial. I echo the many good points raised. I'm a gun writer / reviewer / competitor and instructor - just shout anytime you want to talk gear! BTW, I just purchased my own first RV (Class B) and am going through my own initial safety and security plans.
He said he thinks of every possible scenario. So Im pretty sure he rotates where he stores his firearms. He probably has the RV lined with steel plating and other bulletproof materials by now too! Lol
My Nanny always said “don’t worry about the bad guys, there’s always more good guys in the room than bad guys”. This may still be true but I don’t think there’s many good guys still packing.
Not true anymore. There are still more good guys, but they're not willing to come to your defense due to the liberal prosecutors and politicians. The number of bad guys has increased because they are no longer afraid. If You and your Nanny keep this mindset, you are potential victims.
I have a Winnebago class C. Tow a jeep gladiator. Two big dogs! I have to take care of everything. I won’t put my slide out if I’m not in a paid campground. We can carry in AZ
Great video! Thank you for sharing. I couldn't agree more with everything you said. As a 35-year army vet, I can attest to the fact that we must always be prepared, but pray that we never have to execute our skills and use our tools (weapons).
Love love love the video!! Thanks for sharing. I would add to check in on legal representation like USGA in case something happened. I'm not a insurance salesman but if you need to use your weapon you are going to need legal advice immediately!! It costs lime 150 yr and they have 24/7 attorneys on hand. Great video and it takes courage to do this!! Stay safe and go with God .
Fun story: Back when I was a young tyke, my father was traveling alone and heard someone open the tailgate of his truck while sleeping in the hotel. He was cleaning his black powder .45 cap and ball revolver at the time, so he opened the window, aimed, and said freeze. When the police arrived, the poor sole complained that dad was pointing a cannon at him. Dad simply showed the officer the unloaded weapon and they had a good laugh. What dad didn't say was he had his 1911 available if the revolver didn't do the trick.
The thing that concerns me is that sharing this information could make you a target. I share my preparedness practices because I want the country to be a safe place. So I support this video, however you seem hyper vigilant so I am glad you CAN share this. Y’all are awesome!
Wow. I've been RV'ing for many years. Instead of a firearm beside my bed, I have a flashlight LOL. Not for beating on someone, but for emerg lighting in the middle of the night for emergencies
I'm a 22 year military, 3.5 LE Vet, being proactively responsible for your own safety is a message that needs to get out to everyone. You are ultimately your own "first responder", being able to handle your own security and first aid is of paramount importance. I would stress that you research and educate yourself on the laws in the states you plan on traveling in, you may go so far as avoiding certain states or it may make a difference in the manner in which you carry your defensive tools. Stay safe, stay free!
As a Canadian I always carry firearms in my RV when in Canada but when I cross the border I cannot bring my firearms with me!! I have to rely on several well placed bear sprays!! I have had things stolen from my campsite several times while sleeping! I now have cameras and sensor lights on my RV and lock everything up before bed!
can’t you buy a cheap shotgun in the states and use it for protection while your there and then give it away or throw it away before you get to the border to cross back into Canada? I’m Canadian by the way.
The deadly incident in Nebraska should be enough to make everyone learn to defend themselves by whatever means. That was a horrible story that all of us full timers, part timers, some timers, or just car travelers should think about. Thanks!
I'm from Western Nebraska and sadly that incident on I-80. happened.Just one week ago a friend had to shoot an intruder in his home.Times has change in every part of the country.
I use to just carry a big knife but anymore, my daily driver has 4 in it and I carry 2 when I leave the house. Some people have asked me why? I tell them that I plan on coming home live. I don't know if you have thought about it or not, but I would also make sure you have several magazines full for each gun. But I'm with ya. If I go out camping, I'm taking more. I will take it and not need it then to need it and not have it.
You asked for ammo too late. I had free ammo throughout college, and an average day was 150 rounds, year round, whether there was an official practice or not. I never felt the need to keep 3 guns near my pillow, if I even thought that would be helpful, which I don't. Are these folks camping in the murder capital of the world or something? Would a retired LEO advise everyone to tell the world exactly where they keep their 5 guns in 2 vehicles? Daytime locations and night locations? I didn't think so. This video is about creating drama, not keeping themselves safe.
Glad you guys travel safely, no judgment at all. I have to say that in my 50+ years in the wilderness throughout America I have seen that the more remote areas seem to really draw in criminal activity! Prayer, Prep and planning are so important! God bless you guys in your travels and thank you for sharing!
As a sheepdog for 28 years, I invite the wolves to come and play. I chuckle at them. I refuse to spend ridiculous prices at rv parks unless I’m super tired and want to relax a couple of days. I usually stay at truck stops, rest stops. I walk my big pupper. I keep the leash and pepper spray in my left hand and my conceal carry “wink wink” ready for my right hand. My presence and voice has always been my most powerful weapon. I live in rural Montana, an open carry state and being retired Leo I can conceal carry. My always have with me are my S&W 9mm shield, my go to Glock 22 .40, my Ruger Super Redhawk .44 mag for hiking, my Marlin 45-70 Gov’t Dark and 12 gauge side by side. I keep snake shot as my first round in my .40 and 9mm for hiking. 12 I keep in my TT as my go to for late night surprises (backed up by .40). First round is green dyed rock salt. Hurts like a mofo and the extreme sting doesn’t subside and forces them to the hospital. First info I give is the dyed rock salt so they know to inform nearby medical facilities. I can’t say how many walking zombies I’ve chased off during the latter part of my career while off duty and since. Great video for the masses of sheep. I’ve known you carried since I first got my TT in 2018 and started watching you. I love that you won’t allow yourself to be a sheep!
Love the dyed rock salt idea, but don't know if I'd be willing to give up a round of defensive 00 buck for it. How about dyed 00 buck? I agree though, pain is a wonderful teacher. The question is can the scumbags learn in the short time they have after feeling the bite?
My 12 gauge pump shorty (18 1/4" barrel) is in a spring-loaded garage type broom holder on the side wall right next to the bed. It is rubber-coated so it won't scratch the gun, and the gun can be pulled out of it quickly. The gun has never came out of the holder, regardless of road conditions, and it is always in place and easy to grab while on the bed if I need it. Oh yeah, and I HAVE practiced shooting it laying down!!! Another tip: I bought a set of those nasty blue-white fog lights everyone hates because they blind you when coming at you. One is mounted on the driver's side under the overhead cabinet next to the bathroom wall. It is aimed at the side door. The other one is mounted on the crossover at the back of the hallway at the bedroom. If anyone opens the side door, the lights come on and blinds them. And I am BEHIND the lights!!!!! Driver's door on my Class A??? Permanently disabled. I will gladly walk back to the side door to get in and out to pump gas knowing that nobody will ever get in that door!!!
@davidwang4364 What I quoted was a Bible verse. So if you're saying it's BS, which is saying a lot about you, then you are saying the Bible is BS. Have you even read any of it? There were many battles fought and they used weapons.
Great advice. Thank you for sharing. May I suggest you switch to a more compact shotgun. I have a Mossberg 590 Shockwave 12 gauge. It is not as long so would be a better choice in the confined space of an RV. The overall length is 26½ inches. I keep one beside my bed. It fits nicely into a violin case. Incase you want to carry it around.
Love you guys...... Never leave home without. Exercising our God-given rights....it's nature's law, and also our Constitution. God Bless you guys. WWG1WGA
Don't see many Videos like this . I drove over 2 000 miles from San Diego to New Jersey, in my Class C I had my Ruger 1911 45 with me. I know like you we are people of Faith. However better to have a sidearm and Not need it. Then to need one and not have it. The best thing you shared was situational awareness. Most important. Great Situational awareness will go a long way. Stay Blessed.
Good timely video about real life situational awareness. preparedness. While stealth camping in my shuttle bus I woke to some noise and movement. An unknown number of people were attempting to jack it up, take my expensive Commercial Bus/Truck Tires. I was armed, they fled. Left some tools behind which have come in handy for doing bus maintenance. I did not call it in cause it was in a state that protects criminals, wants all good residents to be disarmed victims. I didn't want costly legal headaches and the threat had passed. Also didn't want to wait for any new threat to roll up. So I tightened all the wheel lug nuts, loaded up the tools, got back on the road heading out of that state. I try to live a quiet peaceful life but life's not always quiet and peaceful. Each passing day it seems more people are running on anger or looking to make a quick buck at someone else's expense. And yes we are often seen as easy targets. For those times I say it's better to be the survivor, than the statistic. To risk being judged by 12, rather than carried by 6.
We use our class C as a decoy, where we set up a tent a couple hundred yards away. I put motion detectors all around the tent, and can blow holes through that tent fabric like it's nothing. When a 12 gauge meets nylon, it ain't no contest. And duct tape fixes up them holes right quick.
I used to own many guns for self-defense and hunting. Many years ago I figured out with that negative mindset of living in fear and it's going to get worse, you definitely bring the worst to yourself. It's all going to be okay❤. No need for fear😊. Good luck
You’re absolutely right I’m not a camper but I see it out there. I’m also a licensed carrier so always be aware of your surroundings and you’re right. You’re out there in the middle of nowhere. There won’t be anybody there to protect you but yourself.
I do have several issues with this video. However, I do like the topic, and I do think it is important. With traveling with an r v and guns in certain states and going over state linings require different things. Because the law is different in different jurisdictions. I'm not going to be given specific advice. An RV in certain states is going to be 1 of 3 things. They're either going to be a vehicle or home or a combination of the two. I should add. This will also be dependent if you are permitted in that state as a carried licensee. If the rv is parked at a campsite, you may have certain storage law requirements. For instance, you may have to store your gun away from your ammunition. Depending on the jurisdiction, if you are driving the. Rv, you will have other restrictions that are also dependent if you have a concealed carry permit. There is also a federal law on what is required. When going from one state to another and what your the condition of your guns should be. All these three things or four things, depending on how you look at it need to have certain considerations. Personally, I think it is unwise to specifically tell people. Were you armed in your vehicle. You may want to reconsider this because you are a public person. Lastly, there is one gaping hole in your defense plan that I am wondering about. Mercedes, is she armed capable of using the firearms?
Love that you are able to post this and give people some very important advice. People, in general, are so naive. How often do we hear people say, "that would never happen to me"?! They are always so surprised when it does!!
Thank you. Thank you. You may get a lot of flack from your videos, but as a Christian solo SUV RVer, I want to applaud you for the stand you guys have taken. You guys are right on with your perspective and advice. I agree that our safety is ultimately in the hands of God. However, I also agree with you that preparedness and awareness should be our norm. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys in the future at Thunder Canyon. Blessings. Millie
My husband and I full timed and traveled all over the country for many years. I always went on line and checked all reviews and the news in the area we wanted to stay before I made a reservation. Even with that, there were a few times I was quite worried.
What happened in Nebraska is heartbreaking to our RV community. THANK YOU for making this video so we can increase our awareness. We also tow a Jeep and you are right, they can have it!! Stay safe
I'm not sure what being Christian has to do with using birdshot... but if those folks in Nebraska were armed and vigilant, things would certainly have turned out different.
First comment. You are definitely responsible for your own safety. He Second Amendment is there for a reason. Get training and exercise your rights. Too bad many states and many people are working hard to restrict our rights and ability to protect ourselves.
You just don't find videos like this out there and especially traveling couples making one. Very rare and i think it's excellent advice you give! Thank you for making it! Maybe someone watching will inspire more couples to make videos such as yours.
0:11 "a lot of you guys are gonna judge the heck out of me..." should be "a lot of you victims and future-victims are gonna judge the heck out of me" My wife and I are 100% with you two! Some of my friends probably think we're crazy because I generally EDC and we have several 2A self-defense protection tools at our house. If our RV is our home on wheels, why would be not do the same there? ESPECIALLY RVing, as we are always relocating ourselves into new (unknown) areas which is part of the part of RVing? So yeah, we're with you guys.
Very good advice , Can't be to careful nowadays ,I live very rural No cellular service outside my house wyfi ,I go nowhere without being armed even the mailbox . Thanks for your Guys very good information.

Thank you for bring forth this to the Community! Safety is seriously Important!
I read the article thank you for sharing with us evil abounds. How terribly sad and horrific. Praying for us.
That was horrifying, so very sad for that couple!

It’s going to get worse…private and state RV parks with others around
You are not crazy! I’m a retired police officer and my son is an officer in San Antonio TX. The world has changed so much and it makes us sad and mad. Everyone needs to take their own protection in the own hands. We really need to pray for the country right now.
Thank you to your and your family for your service! It's in God's hands!

When we RV and park in our motorhome we always take our seat belts and put them through the handles of the doors so someone cannot jimmy the door open. Stay safe and God Bless!
Remember, above all else, it is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
Right on
My daddy taught me that all my life!

Yes indeed!
Good advice thx.

(Even if you miss!)
The bad person has to be inside of your Rig, to Prove Self Defence.
What are the big 3 Conceal Carry Permits?
Since California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland will not honor any other state's carry permit, I'm curious what you're talking about.
Can you explain the seatbelt & the armrests???
Rats don’t like to be noticed, that’s why I make eye contact with anyone near me.Let them look away…
We love Bama! God bless and than you for your Service🙏🤔
Great advice. Enjoy your well deserved retirement in good health and happiness.
Watching the 2 candidates in the Presidential debate illustrated your point beautifully. One walked in and out like a boss and the other shuffled like a 100 year old man and exuded weakness.
Your comments are spot on.
Your location tells it all !
Never apologize for protecting your family. Never!
I bought a firearm after I chose to live in an RV full time. Now it is right beside my bed in my tiny house on wheels. I took a CCW class and practiced at the range with a friend who owns multiple firearms. All my grown children own firearms as well to protect themselves.
I joined the Marine Corps right out of high school.... That was over 30 years ago.And I'll be damned if this country isnt fucked already.
I guess I need a 6th! Good stuff! God bless you as well. Thank you🙏🇺🇸
Stay alert, stay safe… and PRACTICE with you FREEDOM tools!

Thank you for having the courage to put this video up on you tube. People are so unaware of today's reality when it come to crime that they make themselves easy targets for criminals.
Sad we have to use the word 'courage' for something that should be common.
I don't blame anyone for properly protecting themselves. I carry everywhere I go where legal to do so, and sometimes where it's not.
Amen!😊

@@simrdownmon6431 You sure SOUND like a brainwashed coward, so I'm not sure what you mean. Brainwashed: The powers that be tell you, "Give up your 2nd Amendment freedoms", so you quite happily do. Coward: You fear inanimate objects, such as guns (perhaps you also fear knives as well?), _AND_ you want others to protect _you,_ because you are too frightened to protect yourself. I’d rather be prepared & never need it, than to need it & not be prepared!

Fun story:
My John was driving my minivan one evening , after I had been shooting with our ladies group earlier in the day.
My range bag was in the car with a few ‘cordless hole punchers “. (We both carry a few too)
John got pulled late this evening… waiting fir the LEO arriving to the window we took inventory of all our ‘freedom tools’.
Informed the LEO we had about 10 in the car. He asked where they all were and I replied how many were in MY range bag… ..the LEO leans in the window past John and starts asking me about what I shoot & what I recommend as he wants to buy his wife a ‘few’ to get her shooting.🤩

Cheri, You have covered all the important bases. Fantastic!
Beautiful, if 300 million Americans prayed just that in our communities, evil would have no where to hide. As it is our installed officials are inviting evil in, en masse.
If you feel praying works, u should pray for the Palestinians that r being murdered all day.
you should not keep the key fob so close to the the windows unless in a grounded metal box. It is called a relay attack. A hacker can duplicate the code inside the key fob and create a new one that will allow them to get access to the car.
You have the right to defend yourself. But the criminals have more rights than you. Know the laws of each state, they are all different. Good video. Thank you.
sad but true!
Same!! Are you packing hun?
John!! You pointed that pistol at Mercedes! I’m like going YIKES!
God has given us the responsibility for our loved ones and ourselves. With that goes the God given right to protect ourselves and all who depend on us.
Who is voting to take your gun? Please be specific.
Dang, I'm only taking two Freedom tools with me when we go camping. I'm going to have to up my game👍🏻🇺🇲
perfect excuse to buy more freedom tools... "John said..."
@RVOddCouple LOL I have plenty. I just need to bring more👍🏻🇺🇲
My moto is: Three is one, and two is none..
(most days, I carry two on my person)
I was in a McDonalds when it was robbed and they shot their gun inside.

Love the video and glad I’m not the only one that is ready to protect myself and my family. God bless.
My wife used to question why I carry everywhere we go and its only once we had kids she really started to appreciate it.
"Nobody knows that I have firearms."
So far, 178,000 do.
It was good info. Having said that, you're right. And now I'm concerned for their safety, because everyone also knows where they are stored as well.

Just the opposite where I live.
I am.
no room of good guys if you're out in the wilderness.
Not true anymore. There are still more good guys, but they're not willing to come to your defense due to the liberal prosecutors and politicians. The number of bad guys has increased because they are no longer afraid. If You and your Nanny keep this mindset, you are potential victims.
Central PA here, it is not unusual to go to the supermarket and see one or two open carry visible. More CCW’s of which I’m one.
Beautiful Couple.
You're Very Fortunate to have found each other.
Godspeed and Safe Travels.
I have a Winnebago class C. Tow a jeep gladiator. Two big dogs! I have to take care of everything. I won’t put my slide out if I’m not in a paid campground. We can carry in AZ
We boondock exclusively.
Zero slides.
Five Heelers, plenty of caravan chums.

We are the folks school-teachers warn about.
I simply want to thank you for sharing and your honesty. Be blessed!
Right there with ya brother. Short 12 gage pump, a 45 and 2 .380s (one is my wifes).
Great video! Thank you for sharing. I couldn't agree more with everything you said. As a 35-year army vet, I can attest to the fact that we must always be prepared, but pray that we never have to execute our skills and use our tools (weapons).
People would be stunned if they came to my RV. I’m not kidding either
You have a stun gun?
@@DeekJohnson nope
@@DeekJohnson I knew what she meant. It’s a 45 pistol. People are stunned when they hear it just before it impacts them.
@@ogearbox6132 it was a joke…stunned…get it?
Well I would come to your rv but you never invited me and it has realy hurt my feelings! I thought you were my friend! OH BOO HOO HOO!!!
You're riding with precious cargo, John. God and you will get them safely to every destination. ❤😊
Fun story:
Back when I was a young tyke, my father was traveling alone and heard someone open the tailgate of his truck while sleeping in the hotel.
Nowadays, you're likely to be arrested for brandishing, loaded or not.
Liberal wussy people pass unconstitutional laws.
100% guys. You have to plan and be prepared. I grew up in NYC so the head on a swivel was 2nd nature. Stay safe folks. Appreciate you videos.
Love this video and it’s definitely needed. Been full time for 5 years now and I’m CCL and I keep my Rv and myself fully armed
100% agree with you. Thank you for doing this video, so important for good people to be able to protect themselves and loved ones. Subscribed.
Upvoted! Everyone has the right to peace and safety.
Thank you for straightforward talk! I agree with you. Have fun but be vigilant! Stay alert.
The deadly incident in Nebraska should be enough to make everyone learn to defend themselves by whatever means. That was a horrible story that all of us full timers, part timers, some timers, or just car travelers should think about. Thanks!
To me you sound truly have the right Idea , And I pray that God blesses you all and watches over you and keeps you safe .
As a precaution, we all have to be careful when we’re carrying because some states you can’t have any weapons on your person
Communist states.
As a retired LEO, you are completely spot on, I follow your thoughts 100%, pray and pass the ammo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ewe really into the sheep?
My wife and I always hold hands and say a prayer before we leave the driveway on our camping trip👍🏻🇺🇲
We do the same🙏❤️
We do too! The horse is prepared against the day of battle, but safety is of the Lord.
IDK bullpups are pretty compact. Twin tube KSG bullpups with 12 rds. 👍
I can’t thank you enough for this valuable video ! I agree 100% thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I have solar lights that i place on the roof of the van, or the camper that are motion . I will also place some around the perimeter.
Good luck
Absolutely NO judgment from me! I carry everytime
I’d rather carry and not need to than need to and not carry
My first response is bear spray. So far I haven't had to use the bazooka.
Thank you.
A wise man once said it's better to be safe than sorry! Thanks for Sharing... happy trails and stay safe.
First comment. You are definitely responsible for your own safety. He Second Amendment is there for a reason. Get training and exercise your rights. Too bad many states and many people are working hard to restrict our rights and ability to protect ourselves.
Amen!
Always have protection and know how to use it. Keep yourself and your family safe. 🙏🏻
You just don't find videos like this out there and especially traveling couples making one. Very rare and i think it's excellent advice you give! Thank you for making it! Maybe someone watching will inspire more couples to make videos such as yours.
0:11 "a lot of you guys are gonna judge the heck out of me..." should be "a lot of you victims and future-victims are gonna judge the heck out of me"
My wife and I are 100% with you two!
I knew I loved you two. Just added another reason ,......... NICE !!~
Rock on!
Awesome video. We think alike. It’s a crazy world, you can’t be too careful.
