    after having such a positive experience with athe little parkside 80 amp arc welder I thought I would take a chance on there little plasma cutter. this is only my first impressions of the unit after opening the box and making a few test cuts I will post another video at a later date once I've used this for awhile and fully tested it and made some projects involving this machine

    Thanks for this mate. As a new-ish hobbyist I can't see myself needing one soon, but all good info in the bank and well explained. I'd be fascinated to see what kind of pantogram rig you came up with though. Cheers.

    Good video. Thanks. Just tried mine, and must admit it seemed to be struggling on 1/4" MS plate. Might be me though. I've ordered a new air cleaner for the compressor, old one is ages old.

    • @smithbuilt
      @smithbuilt  Рік тому +1

      My air dryer is a coalesce filter there really good. 6mm should be fine 10mm is about its limit but typically if I need to cut more then 6mm I'll use my big plasma set I think its 90 amps.... cuts 20mm plus if you edge start

    • @davewhite4907
      @davewhite4907 Рік тому +1

      @@smithbuilt I'll have another go after I've got the new cleaner. I'll bear what you said about the type in mind. The cleaner I've got is ages old! The air's as damp as Hell down here anyway in Cornwall. I thought that the 9mm max should give a reasonable 6mm cut. Looks like it should just about. Watching you I was probably pushing it a bit fast as well. Made an impressive 3mm deep groove in the plate though! I've used oxy acetylene a long time back.

    • @smithbuilt
      @smithbuilt  Рік тому +1

      @@davewhite4907 oxy is better but cost to much. Just wondering were you trying to pierce the 6mm? As I'm not sure if it can punch a clean hole edge starts are fine. I'm near Portsmouth our air isn't very dry my filter will fill after an hour of use, it holds 500ml but the compressor I'm running is 34cfm and I think it generates a lot of excess heat in its own little shed

    • @davewhite4907
      @davewhite4907 Рік тому +1

      @@smithbuilt Yes, I don't really want an oxy set hanging around either. At least not the acetylene. I was starting at the edge. As I said I think it was me and not the machine. Compressor's only 15 cfm, but the filter hardly ever needs emptying. Ha! Hasn't been an issue up until now, but I've only really
      used it for general blowing out , tyres etc.

      @davewhite4907 Рік тому +1

      Just tried it after fitting the new cheapo two stage air cleaner to the compressor. Success! It's a lot better. Cuts 6mm no trouble going steady. Now I just need to get a lot better myself! Cheers for the help and the video! 👍👍

    The instruction book recommends 4 to 4.5 bar pressure

    • @smithbuilt
      @smithbuilt  2 роки тому

      Yeah I had a lot of flammable stuff near by so I went with lower pressure so as not to send sparks everywhere.

      @@smithbuilt Hey Shane, I looked at those and a lot of them have dimensions on the page to show what they are selling. I checked all of the ones listed and the sizes are not the same as the ones supplied and being new to this I got confused what to buy. Every ad had different sizes buy a mil or 2 so I don't know if they will work. If you buy any could I ask for the listing so I can order the same . I have asked 2 of the advertisers but none got back to me. I am trying to build a small heater like yours but can't find glass for door so it is on stop for a while, I loved you mini burner it is just what I want. Thanks again Gary
