Hi to everyone, the first time I used I was also very disappointed, after some uses I realized that the Thorch is pilot arc but is a contact type machine. The problem is the small steel ring that keep the point too far from the piece. Take it out and I could easily cut a 10mm thick steel plate , the point has to lightly touch the metal to make sure good current flow. Thank you and good work!!
Interesting video, David. Was looking at that in Lidl a couple of weeks ago. Don't think I can justify it - yet. Just need to find a project that will give me an excuse to buy one. :-) Thanks for sharing. Cheers to you and yours.
Thanks very much for this. Already had a word with myself about not needing/affording the one in our local Lidl, but nice to know it's rubbish anyway. Just subscribed and look forward to watching all your other stuff! Cheers.
Depends on the wall thickness. If you do use one, don't use the wire guide as it works loads better right up to the material. You would need spare tips to do this and a power supply that can take the amps without tripping. If you don't have an air supply you would also need one of these. There are some plasma cutters that have a built-in air supply 👍
How about the one with the 40 Amps can use that one with regular house hold's 220 volts or it requires an 3 phase connection please ?? Your response would be highly appreciated....SIR GEE
I'm sorry but I haven't had a 40 Amp one. I think there are lots of reviews for 40 Amp models on UA-cam. So if you check out a few of them they may have the information you need. 👍
The compressor is bigger than my previous ones and the cut is not that good even when the tank is full and not kicking in. Some plasma cutters have a built-in compressor that can't be very big but you could be right George 👍
I guess that one of the worst piece of kit that Parkside ever made, useless , huge power drain, ugly cutting. I'll stick for all those jobs with a simple cutting disk . Well thanks to you we don't need to buy this and be disappointed 😂😂😂👍👍👍
Thanks for doing the review, you've just saved me buying one, I'll stick with my grinder 👍
Thanks... honest appraisal... angle grinder with fine discs a better option I'd say.
Always disappointed that I miss these as they sell out straight away. You’ve made me feel better about missing out 👍
Nice one David thanks for your honesty nice video thanks again 🍺🍺👍👍
Cheers Brian 👍
Great review was thinking of buying it a couple of times. Glad I didn't now..
Yet again another great video david
Thanks Jigsey, yep you may have been disappointed 👍
Jeez Dave a proper angle grinder , job done.

Just bought one ( cheap) for a dabble with one.. 2mm stainless easy,,, hacked my way through 12mm steel,, practice and changes on going 😅
Good video-food for thought!
Thanks, bud- for a comprehensive in-use review. saved me the expense of another impulse buy. In conclusion: underpowered, slow, messy. 😃
This ^^ Also, hope you're all doing okay GW?
@@ChrisLee-UK just day today atm bud, just day to day. 👍
@@GrumpaLoz I know exactly what you mean. From mine to yours, all the very best 🙏🏼
What would be a better purchase to have a plasma cutter in your workshop?
Really good review. Thank you for sharing.

It would nearly be as quick using an angle grinder Sandy. Take care David 🙂👍
Hello David,
Good review... really useful, thank you.
Take care.
Paul,,
Great review ,thanks David !!!
Thanks for that review. Probably stick with a battery angle grinder for basic work and a compressor one for finer work.

Thanks for the review, can’t beat a 4” angel grinder with a 1mm disc.
Yep would of been quicker 👍
yeah but do a circle with grinder
@@JM_BoltActionGunStuff ok, not a problem
Just watched your review and they are back in now just thinking about getting one to cut up some old lpg gas bottles would you still recommend it

If you're cutting angle start you from the outside edge inwards by the way. I think 6 mm is the limit for these.
Could of bought a lot of cutting discs for the grinder with £130
Think I'll stick with the angle grinder. A lot less clean up after cutting.
Think your compressor is too small, needs plenty of cfm for clean cutting
The compressor is bigger than my previous ones and the cut is not that good even when the tank is full and not kicking in. Some plasma cutters have a built-in compressor that can't be very big but you could be right George 👍
Think i would rather use a Angle Grinder than one of them.
Me angle grinder will do 👍
Meh, I think you’re better off with an angle grinder most of time.
Think you're right Dave 👍
Saw them in Lidl today.£150.00. Wouldn’t even consider one.
Send it back. It's a piece of scrap. a good 50amp for $200

Correct, I'm glad I helped 🙂👍
Ok you to far away and your moving far to slow if you move super fast your cut will be perfect
