Do not put water in your airfyer. Big mistake. Clean out after each use with damp paper towel. Also can wash basket then let dry.

Steam will get inside the device and will damage and shorten the lifespan.
I think this is on models that dont have air vent my air fryer has vents for steam to go out of bu i would not do this either way

Any advice on cleaning the inside of my bf extreemly greasy old airfryer?Never been properly cleaned😮 I need help😅
If only the dishwasher was invented. I always wash the bottom of my air fryer in the dishwasher, there is no electronics there so it's perfectly safe. However, the top part with electronics must be done manually. The area all around the fan and heating coil is dirty, scrubbing doesn't help much.
I suggest you spirit vinegar 8% acidity undiluted.
Make it boil in/on the dirty kitchen tool.
It the absolute best for everything dirty like this to me.

PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS! IT'S GOING TO RUIN YOUR AIR FRYER! Just take the basket out and wash it like a normal person

Does it mean that the water evaporates an air fryer after washing? You know it dries quicker than the one. 🤔
Does he NOT know the basket comes out? Slip the little plastic thing back... there's a button...a RED button/lever than takes it out.
Wash by hand as normal, air dry.
Bottom basket as well...and it's less than the 15 minutes of heating water under the heating/electric element.
But I may be wrong... I've only been doing it/cleaning mine for 9 yrs now.🤷♀️
So many people saying "OMG dont do that". But not a single soul has explained how to clean the roof of an airfyer. the gaps between the heating element and the fan are impossible to reach and clean stains/oil from.
Funny, I'm cleaning mine, including the element area, right now.
For the basket, I remove (by pulling that little plastic square back) and push the RED release button that's under the little plastic thing so I can clean/wash my basket and holder by hand.
For the element, a nylon scrubby side of the sponge little baking soda & dish soap or vinegar (doesn't take a lot, not sopping wet), thread it through (flat side of a spoon), let it set a minute, then clear water on the sponge or towel & wipe out the crevices.
We use our air fryer about two times a week. So hubs and I switch off at cleaning it maybe to every other time we use it.
Not hard at all and works for us.
A lot of people also spray their air fryers with nonstick spray which is why a lot of the elements go bad quickly. We also line the bottom under the basket/between the base (again, ours is like this one, but the young man must not realize that the basket pops out..) what's a piece of foil. They make air fryer liners, but I always used one simple piece of foil. So whatever we make, the residue and the oils drip down and all I have to do is take it out and throw it away.

SIL had same one and hers went after 3 months because she used the spray stuff.
Re: the "get the big chunks of food out yourself" a sponge in soapy water works great...for the whole thing...not just the wasted 15 minutes to clean 80% clean...
Just my experience...
Water will destroy the electronics , Air fryers don't like mass amounts of water being sucked up into the upper mechanisms
