I gathered my first ever Goldenrod today, 9/28/2023. I will attempt to make my first Tinture today. Later I may attempt to make an infused oil and maybe a Goldenrod salve. My question is, should I hang it to air dry inside, or can I start today with it still green? Which is best? Thank you for all your time, effort, and energy.
Thank you for this fabulous video! I harvested goldenrod at the beginning of October 🙌. The only thing with honey one has to use it when liquids are not hot or it will affect/clog our meridians. An alternative sweetener can be jaggery 🙏🤗
I like your video! I do not like the taste of golden rod tea…but it works. Sweetener and ginger make it taste a lot like green tea. Still don’t like it but I can stand it like that.
Hi. Thank you for the video. Can you use dried goldenrod in the alcohol and vinegar concoction and is there a risk of bacteria in using the plant fresh?
@@Cosasrealesyoutube Greetings, thank you for responding, I had found a supplier for the golden rod already, but I am really now in the market for " self heal" herb if you have in stock....please let me know 🍃
I was on a drive out towards Tyler and I saw what looked like goldenrod.? I am not growing it yet, do you know if this is what I saw? Do you think I can pick it wild? Thank you for doing this video! Do you have any resources about how I can get some? I'm not close to you. I'm in the DFW area.
It's most likely what you saw. It's all over the place right now, but the season for the flowers is winding down. I only harvest mine wild, and don't grow it in my garden. I wouldn't harvest directly from the side of the road, because of pollutants from cars & trucks. Unfortunately I don't know of anyone who carries goldenrod seeds. Thank you for watching, be blessed! 💜
I volunteer at the community garden in Denton, Tx. Lots of golden rod wild there. I get mine there, its a weed to them so I can have all I want. Even pulled a few roots and transplanted to my butterfly garden area I have three bundles drying on my porch. Will get more tomorrow. Wasn't all opened up. I can get a couple more roots for you. Are you ever in Denton?
@@gretchenarrant8334 that's so great!! I love goldenrod. This year I am also making a balm with it. I serve at many gardens in Denton too. Master gardener and I am. Master naturalist intern this fall. Happy gardening!🌺🌹
Quest for a garden: you probably have your stash of golden rod in your own garden by now, but for anybody else reading this, I’m going to suggest that if the supplied by the side of the road is all that there is, and you choose to do that up and put it in your flower bed, after a year of treating it will go it’s probably gonna be a whole different quality of plant. Something you could use with confidence, perhaps.
I make my herbal teas in an old Corning Ware percolator, I put a coffee filter in the bottom of the basket, makes it easy to strain and clean.

Great video!! Do you wash goldenrod first before you use it? Thank you
I was wondering the same thing but it doesn't look like she washed them before drying.
She said in another video on Goldenrod, that she shakes the flowers a bit & then rinses the plants before hang drying them.
Are you using dry or fresh golden rod
Hi great video. I got my golden rod late in the season, my blooms are more on the worn side. Can I still use them?
New subscriber!! Texas also.

i wish to kniw awell
If you’re using 90 proof alcohol, I think we can be very sure that the alcohol will kill any germs anywhere near it.
Yes
You can use dried or fresh goldenrod in a alcohol tincture. Use only dried in honey or oil. I can't remember which one she uses in vinegar.
I noticed you use store bought vinegar, you don’t make it yourself??
Greetings, loved your show, can I purchase some or your

So what is the order
Do you wash it with water
Let it dry
Cut the flowers
Put it jar
Then the alcohol
Basically do you wash the golden rod ?
She said in another video, she shakes them to get bugs out & then rises them with water. Then you can either dry them or use fresh in alcohol.
In the alcohol and vinegar, after the 4 week, do you have to strain or could you leave it until ready to use?
figured out yet?
Most people strain to extend the shelf life. 😊
