you are so precious thanx for contributing to humanity like all on you tube who unselfishly share ones knowledge It seems like just what is needed and hopefully we can destroy those trying to destroy us and use the technology for the good instead of the aweful.
Loved it Dacia, beautiful scenery and music. I learn so much from you in your kitchen....a little role reversal there😊funny, while you started talking about the goldenrod I ran downstairs to get the Boreal Herbal and when I got back you were mentioning the same wonderful book.
Looks like Solidago nemoralis (Gray Goldenrod) but nemoralis doesn't grow in Washington (sign above the stove, mountains and trees gave it away), had to check BONAP maps.
Yesterday, my husband and I drove to a park in Illinois. The goldenrod flowers were so beautiful and just in their prime at this time of the year. ( September) I gathered a full grocery bag of these glorious flowers only to find out there was a sign : “ This area is being sprayed with insecticide. “. We went home and discarded them in our perennial bed. Hoping we will find new Goldenrod babies in the Spring to harvest our own home grown pure, organic, unsprayed Goldenrods to harvest in the fall. 🥺
i like to say there really aren't any rules, so yes of course you can make your own alcohol solution. but you want to use 100% alcohol, and water, 50/50. 100 proof vodka is already 50% water and 50% alcohol when purchased, so thats why i use 100 proof. but i know lots of people who mix their own, with everclear which is 190 proof so almost 100% alcohol and water.
hello ~ i don't, i will give them a good shake before i come in the house, and i will sometimes lay the plants out on a towel or cutting board on the table for a few hours, so the bugs can vacate. also when i am harvesting i will not cut a goldenrod stalk if its covered in bugs.
It is perfectly fine to eat most bugs, ants with fat asses are especially tasty if you eat them live, just bite the big arse off, literally taste like sweet tarts, I've don't that my whole life. But for medical purposes I'd probably wash it off.
You might be interested in the book 'Native American Ethnobotany' assembled by Daniel E. Moerman. It's quite huge but awesome. The way it's organized is really thought out.
Man I really just wanted to hear the drying part and thought maybe it was at the end, I did skip through to get past the other methods so maybe it was mixed up in there. Its so frustrating to watch a 20 min video that might not have the answer to the question so I often scan hoping to find it.
i don't, when they come home i leave them spread out on a towel on the table. so the bugs can vacate. i also don't harvest from dusty areas or if they have a lot of bugs i won't harvest them.
So glad i found you and your wonderful videos

Should or could you heat your vinegar to facilitate leaching out the flavor?

Very nice video.
Thanks for sharing...after you let it set and you strain it where do you store the different products
i store tinctures in dropper bottles, and the vinegars and oxymels in bottles. i like to just recycle nice wine bottles or any glass bottle
@@simplyjosephine do you put these in the fridge or on a shelf?
@@rebeccamccord2369 i store them on the shelf, and use them liberally
@@simplyjosephine thanks so much...sorry for all the questions, I just don't want what I made to go to waste...I have 2 weeks left yaaaay
Thank you for this lovely video. Can you make a glycerite from Goldenrod?
Yes for sure :)
The alcohol needs to go all the way to the brim so there is no room for air or mold.♡
can you use the leaves for something mybe tea ?
Yes I do ~ it’s a lovely tea mixed with the dried flowers

strictlymedicinalseeds.com/
If you want to pay shipping I can send you root stems and seeds. I have tons in my yard
Does it have to be vodka or can you use fliter or spring water and 50% alcohol ??

Question did you even rinse them? They have bugs on them.

This is the sixth video I've watched on making preparations with Goldenrod, and nobody ever mentions rinsing. I was wondering the same thing.
