I'm excited to give this a go over the weekend. My kitchen door has been unusable for such a long time because I lost the key and locksmith charging over £100!
Hi Bill I have not tried it yet but this is exactly the situation I am facing, having lost the keys and getting to the point where the bit has fallen sideways. Now I know that I can use a " shim" and fish around until I have slipped it back into its slot. Many thanks, big guy you are the best.
Yeah great advice Bill 👍. As my lock tab was seized up I ended up taking the door off turned it upside down used a small screwdriver and hammer to tap it around to 12 o'clock. Cheers, Keep it up 👍👍
This worked for me without the key, thanks a lot! A bit of WD40 also helped loosen the rotating latch. I used the metal file on a Victorinox Swiss knife to nudge it around.
hi bill, nice vid. but i thought id add some extra info for the viewers because reading the comments below iv noticed a lot of mention where people are getting stuck because the cam wont budge. seems you just jumped ahead 1 step from the beginning. the reason the cam wont budge is because these particular viewers are trying to remove the barrel after they have just opened the door- which means that the handle has clicked back and is still clicked back, if so the barrel cam wont turn unless the the handle is in the forward/closed position. plus 1 other tip which is alot easier is under the barrel where the handles screws where , if you look up in the whole you have much better access to the cam and you can use any tool up to the thickness of a normal sized phillips screwdriver to turn the cam.
Omg, I almost didn't believe you but it turns out just needed some WD40 as I read in other comments and 30 seconds later... done! Thank you. That's awesome 👌
Thanks, this helped a lot. Wasn't what I needed, but while trying to shim a cam that would not turn it clicked that the lock had to be in the locked position, after which fitting the new cylinder was easy.
Hi Bill. One question..... Were your key hanging on the inside of the door? I don't know about the euro cylinders down under, but the only way( in Europe) what you did is possible is if the key is in the lock in the inside of the door, which kind of defeats the point of the video . in Europe every euro cylinder i own have touched or picked ,the cam will only turn if one side of lock is open, with a key a comb or a pick. The reason I ended up watching your video was because I was researching, trying to make a tool to bypass directly to the cam, I know they exist but I had never seen one, and the reason they exist and I want to make one is , if it is going to take too long or you can't pick it open, the cam won't turn and if the cam won't turn , you cannot change a lock without a key, without force or damage. The one exception I have come across is a company called " Tesa" Where the cam does not stick out in locked position the 8nly thing holding it in is the screw,, when you remove the key the cam is inline with the lock body, I am thankful for this , because Tesa for some reason from all the locks i have tried ,is the only euro cylinder I cannot pick open, they look the same as most of the others , but they do not feel the same inside.
Yes Bro you do fantastic work! thank you so much for your tutorial. You have saved a lot of ppl a few hundred dollars to get some expert to charge them $200 for 20 mins work!
In case anyone else has this question: Just follow the same procedure and once the barrel is snapped out use an Allen key in the gap to flip the levers to open the door.
Thanks, awesome video, like you said, hair clip worked a treat and was out quickly. just wanted to say thanks like so many others i'm sure you've helped.
I spent ages trying to get the cam to return to the 12 o’clock position, but it just wouldn’t budge. I fixed it in the end by taking the door down off its hinges and turning the whole door itself upside down!! 🤣👍👍
Very helpful, thanks. I have to do this for my son's front door as he lost both sets of keys (yep, told him he's a muppet). I don't any lock picks so will try a paperclip.
I could not get a paper clip in. Not enough space. So I hammered a nail flat. That worked however the latch won't move. In the end I had to drill it out with 4 holes at the side of the lock. That was actually not too hard.
hi mate its a really good video on how to remove a euro lock with no key but my problem is i have double doors one opens but the left one has no key and there is a post in the middle so i cant get at the retaining screw any advice would help thanks
sliding a thin clip tie through there and then you have leverage from both sides of the lock to push it up ( a unused clip tie obviously) i only had think ones but i just shaved and sanded the plastic till it was thin enough
I found using a sewing needle pushed through the gap and then I can slide it from both sides to move the pin worked great. Thank you for the tip.
Absolutely genius, I was about to start drilling out the lock! Had the cylinder out in under 60 seconds. Thanks bud!
Glad I could help 👍
@@billshowto how you'll do if the key it's lostedand the door it's closed?
I have another video on how to snap the lock 👍

I think I might have to do this as the gap is too tight to stick anything down it
This worked for me without the key, thanks a lot!

YES!!! My experience too. The cam on my lock does not turn UNLESS it is unlocked. I had to drill mine out.
Great instructions. Had the barrel out in about a minute! Thanks!
Just the video I needed, thanks mate!!
Thanks so much, saved money just buying the cylinder. If I can do it anyone can.
Bloody legend. I was ready kick my door out. Thanks mate..

Simple & easy to follow. Saved me $$! Thank you mate! 👍🏽
Awesome however how does one do this if your door is shut and locked in place? Can’t get to the side screws mate
In case anyone else has this question: Just follow the same procedure and once the barrel is snapped out use an Allen key in the gap to flip the levers to open the door.
@@NAFO_Badger_Brigade doesn't work, it won't budge if it is locked. The issue is not with flipping the levers.
I was about to pick the lock. Glad someone is thinking straight enough to guide me to just pick the cam.
Brilliant. Lost my key. This helped
Brilliant Mate, can fix the bugger Lock now.
👍
You are the best of all.
Excellent mate. Thanks for sharing.
But the little piece inside won't move freely without the key in the lock I know because I tried it 20 secs ago

A hammer with the handle fully off a professional widow fitter turned up nd was like wack it down hard so I did haha

Hi, I have a video on how to snap the lock which will solve your issue 👍
sliding a thin clip tie through there and then you have leverage from both sides of the lock to push it up ( a unused clip tie obviously) i only had think ones but i just shaved and sanded the plastic till it was thin enough
I have a half euro lock on a patio door without key, it does stick out a bit , around 1cm, will this method still work?
Cheers for that buddy.
Cheers mate, legend 👍
