Awesome, easy to understand, perfect explanation. 👍👍. Watched a few of your vids now mate and you are hands down the best instructor I’ve seen. Well done. Cheers from outback Queensland 👍
You are the man bro, your videos are awesome cuzzie, I'm from a Demolition background bro so everything I do is rip tear bust not putting stuff together I definitely need your videos LOL
Hi, I need to replace the screen door lock. Could you put a link to the exact name for this product, I'll probably go to Menards. Hope I can do this job myself :)
It sure is. He's using a head cam for obvious reasons, and I can see everything perfectly adequately. If you need a cinematographer with Spielberg directing, perhaps help videos on UA-cam are not for you. Great how-to, Bill. Keep up the good work. 👍

This is the video I've been trying to find, Bill. Thank you. I had a question about using my old cylinder to keep old key, but Bill has already responded to someone else below with same question. This solves my problem 100%. Huge thank you.
This was so helpful! Got a new lock as our screen door was missing the key, but couldn't get the cylinder out. Cut a sliver of plastic from a yoghurt tub and got the old cylinder out with your trick! Thanks!
Thanks for video. I used the same brand as you in the video and followed the instructions (the main bolt was out and deadlocked) before I put the cylinder in. The keys won't lock the door from the outside (ie. main bolt won't come out). Do you think this is an installation issue or the lock mechanism issue? thanks
Bill, you are awesome. But my screen door is latched closed and won't open. The lock turns, the latch turns but the latch won't open, soI can't get at the parts between the door and the strike plate. Gaaagh! I'm hoping you can help with this!
Hey Bill... great video, but I am still stuck trying to remove the old cylinder. It simply won't come out..... I can see daylight on both sides through the gap between the cylinder and the lock body, so it doesn't look like the cam is stuck holding it in. However, I cannot find anything small enough to fit in the gap. I have tried everything, down to the finest sewing needle, but nothing will fit. Very frustrating1... I have a new replacement lock ready to go, but can't get the old cylinder out! :-(
Hi Robert, if you’re struggling to fish the cam out you have two options . First is to pick the lock and second is to snap the lock. I have a video on my channel for how to snap it 👍👍
@@billshowto I was a bit nervous that I would wreck the door, but I tried your 2nd option; to snap the lock........ FANTASTIC! i would never have thought of that until I saw your video. It snapped so easy with little effort, and now I have installed a new door handle & lock! Thanks so much Bill for your great videos.
After an hour trying to get the cylinder out, I finally thought let's see if UA-cam can help. Thanks for the video Bill and these comments. I had nothing thin and sturdy enough to turn the cam so I snapped the the cylinder like you said 👍
Hi Bill, I have a sliding security door that has the triple lock just recently after alot of rain in my area the silver latch to lock it from inside is not always locking until I move it back and forward so to speak then it looks. Would that be one of the triple locks in the door frame coming off alignment ? Rgds Glenn
Hi, the tri lock are known to cause this issue as all three latches will need to line up perfectly in the strike plate for it to lock. I have another video addressing this exact issue on a single latch lock but the concept will be the same 😉
No luck getting my lock barrel out even with door open and key. Lock barrel is such a neat fit that even feeler gauge won’t let me flip up that pawl up. A previous trick I saw and tried was to remove the whole door and upend it to flip the pawl…even that didn’t work. I keep looking out for helpful videos like this. The lock barrel looks to strong to just snap it with multi grips as I’ve seen demonstrated for sliding doors. I guess I’ll have to pay a lock smith to show the ultimate secret.
Have a similar lock which, when the manual lock lever is operated from the inside, 90% of the time we can again unlock from the inside with the small lock lever. There are times however that once locked manually inside via the small lock lever, the small lock lever jams and we have to unlock the door with the keys....very annoying. ...any ideas? ...I've looked at it every which way but buggered if I can see what is malfunctioning.
Great video. Made changing over the handle and lock very easy. Especially helpful at 8:26, as although the door would latch, it wouldn't lock. I just used a chisel to clean out some excess wood in the strike plate recess and it then locked perfectly. Total cost was $50 for the handle mechanism and saved me money calling out someone to do it.
Hi Bill.My problem is the lock in the lock body is stuck locked & I can`t open the locked screen door. The key clicks but won`t open.Have taken apart all parts but can`t work out how to get the body lock to withdraw so door can be opened outwards.Advise me please.
Hi, i have a few videos on my channel for how to remove the cylinder lock. Even if the key/lock is no longer working I show you how to bypass it or snap the lock 👍
@@billshowto Its the top body lock that is stuck lock.Handle won`t release the bar lock back.Have totally dismantled the cylinder lock & brackets off the door but can`t get the handle bar lock to withdraw.
Thank you for a well explained video. I will attempt to remove my lock from a crimsafe security screen . A wiper blade steel enforcement strip should be the way to go .cheers
I took on this replacement. The removal of the old lock became an issue for me. After successfully removing the key cylinder, the lock body was stuck in the door. It can move up and down in the door frame but something prevents it from coming out of the door frame. At 3:55 Bill pinches the latch and pulls out the lock body without effort, makes me want to cry watching. The old lock body does not have the holes for the snib so the new handles could not be installed with the old lock body. No idea what I am going to try to get past this issue.
Send me a photo and I’ll try and help. You may have a tri lock which has arms on the top and bottom of the lock body to operate a triple locking/latching system.
Hi Bill, Its a tasman MkII, managed to fix it after all. There were no instructions in the box, so I downloaded a pdf. I think I placed the snib at the wrong angle when installing the handle. Thanks for your reply in any case! I'll check out your other videos as well
Great video Bill! I think I have done everything correctly, it locks fine with the key and with the snib, but the snib falls out easily. What have I missed?
Such a great help, really appreciate you sharing, thank you so much! I'm stuck with replacing mine, haven't screwed it all up, cylinder & snib not in, accidentally the screen door shut with the latch locked and I couldn't unlock it at all even if I put the snib and cylinder in...need help pls. Thanks so much in advance!
Lol, there is a little mechanism on the inside that needs to be released prior to being able to turn the snib over. What you need to do I manually move the locking mechanism ( usually this is what the cylinder would do when using the key). If you look up my video on how to snap the cylinder I show how to do this in that video 👍👍
Thank you Bill, I was able to fix my front door security screen lock by watching your instructions. I have a different lock body with a whitco lock, and it now works perfectly. 👩🦰

What if the latch locks the inside but can’t lock the outside with key ?
