"this is fire dude, I don't care what anybody says"
-every real Avenged Sevenfold fan
Hell ya!! A7X is the bomb
*Every real music fan. They just write good music. Period.
hell yeah dude
damn to all the people that trash talk A7x
"I hate A7x"- some reddit mod jerking off to his crappy thrash metal project in his basement
By the way, this is Mike Portnoy, original drummer from Dream Theater that laid down drums on this album. Their drummer died before recording this album, even though he had it written and demoed. Mike Portnoy was his favorite drummer and they asked him to record it and he did and toured with them for a little while as well.
By the way, I love this album, but I know I'm a very open-minded metalhead. Keep up what y'all are doing, y'all are the best at it!
No the rev did half he did this song i am pretty sure
The Real Dr. Janus
He played on the demo version, but on the original, it’s Mike Portnoy.
Best drummer alive
To clear the misconception about this album Mike was the drummer on the album BUT, a huge but here, Jimmy had already written all the music for the album. So it's Mike playing Revs music. I doubt the original sound of A7x would've been so apparent if it was Mike's own compositions.
Avenged Sevenfold are one of the few new metal bands that Metallica respects and calls upon to tour with them. Avenged Sevenfold are influenced heavily by Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, etc and they are very cool, down to earth individuals who care about their fans.
Metallica tours with everyone lol
:D
Bro they care about their fans so much they hold free shows.
Truth
Yes you are completely right man! Avenged sevenfold is very creative at there element as well
"Metalheads, let us know why is this a bad song"
As a metalhead I reply: it is not
Ravciozo facts
Agreed 100%
It's great. Metal has gatekeepers like any fandom out there. Elitists who feel the own the content and their taste somehow makes them special so if someone else enjoys it, they feel less special. Small, insecure humans.
Agreed.
As a metalhead from 1968 you sound ignorant! A good evolution of metal.
Don't understand why labels would block these guys. It's great promotion. Win win.
Cory Seronick seriously, I'm going to check the song out on Spotify right now because of this video. If it wasn't up, I wouldn't be. These labels need to get their heads out of their fucking asses and realize the promotion this brings. Are these people just this clueless?
Yeah and these guys are great, really charismatic and interesting.
The labels are just jeaulous because these guys have 500K followers. They want a piece of the cake. Wolves.
When it's bands this big it really doesnt matter. If they want to argue that, they should start reacting to smaller bands more often.
youtube is half to blame too.
Those metal purists are just haters for the sake of hating. The song is well produced , well played and generally good . I listen to everything from grindcore to rap, from death and black metal to trap and edm and i think people need to stop trashing bands they don't listen to just because they feel that that band is not accepted in their local bar or something. But i guess my opinion is in the minority , which is sad.
many of the purist would rather listen to songs where they cant understand a word without pulling up the lyrics on their phone. I like guttural sounds and heavy sounds but i cant stand voices i cant understand and i like a voice that can carry a tune. like i dont mind bands like cradle of filth because i can sing along if i want because i know the lyrics with wikipedia.
It’s not the minority. It’s just that the minority’s gets the attention.
It's very closed minded of them. If you looked at my playlist, you would know could ha e made it. With the modern convenience of something like Spotify, it's not a thing to stick to a genre anymore. I guess my bigger point is, if its good...it's good. If something sounds good, you know it when you hear it.
The Sad thing is that Metal Elitists( There is no such thing as a purist ) feel that if too many people like a band, that they like, they hate them.....If they get too much airplay...they hate them... If they do too well drawing at concerts...they hate them...They are just looking to hate. The funny thing is these guys started out wanting to be rock stars playing music that they and a metric shit ton of other people liked and they got a lot of shit for it. Same with 5FDP... Your not hard enough...OR Your too hard for me.....Damned if you do...Damned if you don't... What matters in the end is that they, and a lot of other bands that the snobs snubbed, still are around and it makes the snobs furious...Which i love!
In a general sense. People praise The Rev. Everyone else gets mixed reactions though.
Im a 50 y/o metal head thats been jammin Metallica since they were brand new and Im here to tell you that this IS some badass metal!!!
Tom Milburn 42 here. And I absolutely agree
I'm old school too. These guys are keeping metal on the map.
64 y/o and I agree
You guys rock 🤘🏾
109 yr old here I came back from the spirit realm to say that this is metal 🤘
A Little Piece Of Heaven - Avenged Sevenfold
Ghoul Gaming yes XD if they hear that song they’re in for a wild ride. That’ll shut up any preconceived notions about this band lol
that song is a masterpiece - so creative!
sick but fantastic
God I love that song. Every instrument such a great song.
they gotta watch the video with that one lol
You should check out Buried Alive by Avenged Sevenfold. Not even a huge fan of them, but no one can deny its greatness.
soopermateys buries Alive by Logic
soopermateys yeah total masterpiece
AN EPIC MASTERPIECE XD
Yeah this songs fucking great
fav song of all time. I would love for Lost in Vegas to review it
Metal elitists are toxic trolls. Having a wide variety of music and even dynamics within bands is a great thing.
Bryan Thompson id agree, but I'd add any fandom is bound to be replete with toxic gatekeepers
Elitists in any fandom are toxic - music just tends to be worse in that regard...
Seth Lancaster music and politics
i was only a metal elitist in the 80s when it was more of a lifestyle and the commercial metal bands sounded like boy bands with guitars
Buried Alive will blow your mind
Shepherd of Fire is another one
Hail to the King is also a badass song by Avenged Sevenfold
You got to listen to Buried Alive.. The second half transition will floor you...
All good but you forgot bat country and danger line
"Save me" is dope🔥🔥
Just here to insure this comment IS true
Avenged Sevenfold - Beasts and the Harlot!
YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
hey Timothy I keep saying that to them I can just picture when that bass kicks in they're going to think it's like Earth Wind & Fire and then it really gets going... I'm going to be really happy today they do that did you see the review of
,🎶🎶🎶🎶😙😙🎵🎤 ain't talkin bout love ..that was really good🎵
Kelli Erin I totally agree! I think they’d love the bass groove and the instrumentation is top notch! BTW, I have heard that review of Van Halen and I posted the same comment along with some VH suggestions like Panama and Hot for Teacher. Thanx for the comment!!
Retro Rambles That’s a great one too!! I just think they’d appreciate the bass groove of Roundabout a little more.
You should check out "Critical Acclaim" by them. The guitar work by Synyster Gates on that track is insane.
and dont forget the amazing vocals by the rev
This comment needs to be seen!!!!!
Definitely second this. My favorite song from them.
Zachary Moses yeah it's one of my favorites too 😊
hell yeah
I like A7X because they are not hardcore heavy death metal. I like how they add in some calm and melodic parts in their songs and have slow calm songs like seize the day.
Idk about you I just think they are unique.
Agreed
Thats the reason I don't like them anymore. Not saying they are bad tho
1999 it started and in 2001 was the first album
False, first album came out in 1999
@@LuisLopez-xo8rp You are correct sir
@@LuisLopez-xo8rp no, cuz the band FORMED in 1999, they started making the album "sounding the seventh trumpet" in 2000, and it was finished and released in 2001. This guy is right.
Right at 5:25 when they bust into the solo and Ryan says this is f%@$in fire dude, I don't give a f%@$...... lmao! Love this reaction!
The drums at that breakdown are so brilliant 🤘🏻
Hell yeah! 🔥🔥
Avenged Sevenfold - Save Me
Imo their best song.
A K Save me and The stage are their best songs imo
Save-me is gold!!
Save Me is great.
Btw I've only ever commented on a UA-cam video once in 10+ years to say this. I'm not even sure what my user name is.
I totally HATE metal elitists !! Live and let live !
I hate elitists for every genre of music whether it be Metal, or Rap, or Hip hop, or country. All elitist suck ass
@@hylianxbox6586 Agree 100%
Guys, I know you won’t read this, and that’s okay. Please check out “Hail To The King”. Synyster Gates has one of the greatest opening guitar riffs of all time on this one.
I love that song. People forget
Synyster Gates is a extremely talented guitarist. The Stage had a great intro as well...
YESSS HE HAS OMFG
gifd 2427 thats a Metallica song
The Hail to the king album is basically a metallica black album cover
So...As someone who considers himself an Elitist, and as someone who REALLY enjoyed A7X goin through High School, here's how I see the animosity towards the band over the last few years. After "City of Evil," the 3rd album, they decided to go really experimental with the Self-titled album, as far as a modern Heavy Metal band is concerned, and tossed in some very soft songs(Looking at you, Dear God!) and the fan base got a little shook. Haha... Now, Diamonds in the Rough, and Nightmare were pretty great; however, Nightmare was the last album their founding Drummer, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, performed on before he OD'd in '09. It was a massive blow to the band and the fans alike. There were some really cool things that happened, like they were able to pull Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater(and one of Jimmy's idols) to finish the recordings, and he even went on tour for over a year, I believe. After that, the band seemed to take a step back in the sense of originality, with Hail to the King. I can't even begin to count the number of times I'd talk with other fellow metalheads, who could pick out all the glaringly obvious "influences"(RE: borderline plagiarism) of other popular metal songs from 20yrs+ ago, and if you had an ear for that, and an understanding of band dynamics, it was pretty easy to see that The Rev had a much larger role in songwriting, than the average fan might expect of a drummer. That said, The Stage(their newest release) has come a LONG way towards mending some of the burnt bridges to some of the fans they lost. There are some Elitists who, like you say, just can't accept the clean vocals the M. Shadows has brought, or the more "radio-friendly" grooves and verse riffs, but they were gonna be hating from 3 albums ago anyway, so forget them. Without Avenged Sevenfold, I wouldn't have found dozens of the bands I love now, so Nostalgia will always keep me hoping good things for them, and I'm glad y'all enjoyed the tune! Save Me, from this Album, is a Masterpiece in my opinion.
MrMalicious1 I respect this thorough breakdown.
Save Me is a total masterpiece!! My personal favorite album of theirs is City of Evil though.
I was one of their haters I loved the album Waking the Fallen but once they got on guitar hero and released bat country I never gave them a chance again until I heard Save Me and A little piece of heaven. I then decided to give them a shot again and found myself so surprised at the musicianship they had in the band. Being a former drummer in a metal band I could appreciate what they were doing once I allowed myself to not judge them based on the opinions of elistis in the metal community. Exists is what I consider to be their masterpiece.
That's so weird! Bat Country is the song that made me fall in love with them, and then I went back and listened to all of their older stuff.
Same
You guys are a hit and then some. Your reaction to A7X Nightmare was noted by the online metal magazine loudwire. Great job guys
Ya'll need to do So Far Away, the tribute to their late drummer Jimmy "THE REV" Sullivan
I really enjoyed Ryan's reaction to this. You could see the genuine love he had. I'm not even a die hard AX7 fan so it has nothing to do with liking other people liking a band I love. It was just awesome to see that type of reaction. :D
Have you guys already checked Buried alive out? If you haven't you really should you'll love it
Tomislav Gredisnjak yep, definitely time to break out some hardcore. Might as well skip right to Terror, though
One of my favorite Venom tracks! Good call!
buried alive is not hardcore lol, it's pretty soft for a7x
I feel like buried alive is A7Xs stairway to heaven.
And critical acclaim !!!!
A little piece of heaven
This song was made for reaction videos.
Yes. They would have to react to the music video. Awesome
Yes! please, please do this song next!
This is masterpiece
Oh wow yeah this would be a very interesting reaction to see, especially with the video
I´m from the old school, and i think this is a great metal song!
Would you agree that it is a problem for some people when it comes to A7X that their music is essentially their own unique sound which takes pieces of older groups in a way of paying homage to the artists that helped form their sound?
WATCH THE STAGE BY AVENGED SEVENFOLD
Lincoln Yang yes. YESSS!!
No not the stage. Not one of their better pieces of work.....to me.
THAT ALBUM BY FAR IS THEIR MOST CRAPTACULAR 👎🏽
@@___meph___4547
..........SAID THE WUSSIECORE LOVING A7X FANBOY 🤩
Yes please watch THE STAGE. or even better, Exist! Its a 15 min long epic that they wrote as a musical representation of the Big Bang. The only verse is in the middle which they said is when life began in the universe. Neil deGrasse Tyson even has a voice over near the end. It’s a powerful song man.
"Cult of Personality" by Living Colour, please! It's a classic!
Good choice, great song.
But by far not their best song imo..
Dude that song is legendary
Avenged Sevenfold formed in 1999, and they released their first album in 2001.
I'd love to see you guys react to Avenged Sevenfold - The Stage, with the music video. It would also be fun to see you react to A Little Piece of Heaven with the music video
Hell yeah to A Little Piece of Heaven!
Don't be sorry for loving this song, it is a great song. Everyone has their own taste for music. "Metal elitists" can have their opinion just like we all can. Let them trash it if they like but if you like it you like it.
in terms of creativity + balls :
Save Me
The Stage
Bat Country
Beast and the Harlot
You mentioned creativity but missed Sidewinder
*A Little Piece of Heaven intensifies*
Sidewinder
Finally!!! More A7X!!!
Avenged Sevenfold gets way too much hate from the metal community. Now I can understand why some people don't like them, especially if they've only heard their popular songs. A lot of their well known songs are real poppy at times, and I'm not really a fan of that style (or some of those songs), but if you listen to a full album by them there's so much impressive stuff there that the talent is undeniable. Songs like Save Me, The Wicked End, M.I.A., Remenissions, I Won't See You Tonight, they have so many great songs that are just classics in my opinion but they're swept under the rug because elitists have only heard the hits. It's very odd.
ProgPro96 I personally believe save me is one of the best songs of all time, yet it gets no credit or recognition from anyone. You mentioning it is awesome and I’m glad to see someone else recognizes it along with their other underground masterpieces
ProgPro96 thank you !! And to the person previously commenting @Jack Thomas , Save Me is hands down one of the best musical creations of all time. The structure, lyrics, guitar solos, drums going HAM, everything about the song is pure perfection i believe.
exactly, reading my thoughts my dude
I don't understand how you can call yourself a metal head and dislike A7X. All you metal snobs have to ask this question. Would you rather hear this on the radio or more Justin Bieber type songs? Metal heads unite!... And take back the freaking radio!
Ryan Wilt I think this song and album are bland, probably their worst material, so I can see why “metal snobs” would dislike it, but I agree that no metalhead could really dislike City of Evil or The Stage
“Seize the Day” is one of their best songs in my opinion.
My first avenged sevenfold song man...I dreamt of playing that solo whilst a coffin went down SOOOO MANY TIME 😂
Love the solo in seize the day!!!
React to Buried Alive by Avenged Sevenfold!! It’s a masterpiece
Clinton Dale love that song, it’s their most Metallica song ever 🤟🏻
Metal heads dont like the song because the band actually made money. They deem that as selling out, when really, selling out is totally different. I swear, most metal heads would rather sit and argue about what sub genre a band is, instead of just rocking out and having fun.
Calis708 totally agree
I despise sub genres... to me , metal basically fits like this .. you have metal , death metal , black metal , and thrash metal ... most bands fit into these 4 files
metal is metal. You either like a song or you don't. Listen to what you like. Don't waste time worrying about what you don't.
so what would to classify candlemass ass?
Or Gloryhammer?
People hate on A7X either because they went mainstream or because they changed so much from their first album to their latest, and that's sad, because you shouldn't expect a band not to progress. I always respected how versatile they were.
MegaCrasherMusic *cough* Linkin Park *cough*
They being said this band has never really had a specific sound like other bands so I don't know why anyone would be so attached to a certain one of their styles... Like Metallica had 4 straight albums spanning a decade of a certain sound before switching it up so I kinda understand backlash but these guys only had 2 albums of metalcore which were from when they were about 20 years old before they switched to the city of evil wound which had so many layers of vocals. Then their self titles took away the layers and added a very poppy sound. Then nightmare was very emoish for obviously good reason. Hail to the King has a very classic rock sound and then their latest album the stage is very progressive in nature... So it really hard to pinpoint an exact sound of theres
I really respect their choices and the direction they choose for the band after The Rev's death (actually they were already doing it and changing even before he died), but I kinda lost interest on the band, maybe due to evolution of my musical preferences. This band aways bring me good memories tho. Sorry bad english guys, greetings from Brasil!
George Bedrin Linkin Park never really had a sound and by far have the most diverse range of music through their discography. Just pointing that out since you've just defended Avenged Sevenfold with that logic and contradicted yourself.
Plus their new music sounded great but obviously metal fans can't seem to handle change and actually moan way more about artists than the pop fanbase does.
changing genres isn't progression though. It's just straight up change.
I really enjoy watching you guys. Makes me smile to hear and see the excitement y'all show. Keep it up
A LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN. An epic song that plays in movements like a classical piece. Avenged Sevenfold's best, IMHO.
Their first album was released in 2001.. they were very raw on their first two albums.. "Unholy Confessions" off of their Waking the Fallen album in 2003 was really their breakthrough song and then "The Beast and the Harlot" is the single that really blew them up in 2004?/05? One of those years..
People (metal elitists) started thinking very sour of them on their self titled album when they more or less took a slight turn towards mainstream rock radio. Happens to every metal band that gets extensive radio time on your average Modern Rock station. That's pretty much what "selling out" is now. And I think it's more the result of "this band is no longer exclusively part of the metal community anymore".. when the core metal fans see kids who normally listen to top 40 music rocking out to some of their favorite bands, they automatically get a bad taste in their mouth.
It's an odd phenomenon
Master Vol exactly they don't want bands to have any mainstream success. Which is weird to me, but when it comes to A7X they've also had the Call of Duty songs and stuff like that so I can understand the selling out criticism of them.
I want metal to be accepted in the mainstream and I have my own personal views and reasons for that, either way I will continue to enjoy all them metal genres including a7x! Lol
This is pretty much it. They were probably the most loved metalcore bands with Waking the Fallen. Then when City of Evil came out they dropped the scream vocals and had a ton of success on MTV with it. Which made it seem like they were going soft for commercial success/ selling out.
P.S. I've personally always loved them (especially the guitar work) and wish them the best.
Nailed it.
The drummer for this track was Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater one of the best drummers of our time who's a great inspiration of their deceased drummer The Rev. I actually also don't get the hate for them since a lot of bands are inspired of bands/artists they like. This is just the natural synergy that they have and to be honest they're really a solid band the lyrics are amazing and inspired, if you know where they come from, the instrumentals and vocals are equally amazing both in live or in studio, I just don't get the hate.
TIL about Portnoy on this track, thanks
I dont get it either. They have always jammed for me.
No Portnoy played the tour he didn’t record the album tracks. The album tracks on this album was The Rev’s last recorded work.
DexMoney Gaming actually he recorded most of the drums too, there wasn't many drum tracks that Jimmy did that they could use. That's what I read, anyway
They actually did have Portnoy record the tracks. All of the songs had demos but most did not have vocals yet. They brought Portnoy in who basically played the drum tracks already demoed by Rev. The Rev did have vocals on Fiction though that were taken from the demo for "Death" because the recording quality was high enough
M.I.A - Avenged Sevenfold !
This song IS A FUCKING MASTERPIECE with a great storyline.
The dueling guitars of synyster gates and zack vengeance and the rev on drums, with m shadows vocals are so unique. RIP rev. Syanyter is one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Lmao! Metal kids these days
Avenged sevenfold: Little piece if heaven!!
A little piece of heaven - A7X
Erick Servantes Dude your picture made me blow air on my screen cuz i thought it was a hair lol
God I haven't heard that song in years gotta look it up again now thanks
A7x's original!
Yeah please do this one
This is a good song but we need them to listen to their older material from like the first 3 albums
React to shepard of fire!! Synaster gates goes OFF. Please
You guys are awesome. I think you nailed a lot of your criticisms. I love how you guys are open to stuff too, i love that youll appreciate different things. Thank you guys
2:36 Fellas: Despite comments you may have read, I think the majority of old school rock and metal heads respect A7X. It keeps the genre alive. They may not measure up to the late 80s/early 90s zenith, but nothing will be that original and fresh again; or have the cultural significance.
Bottom line: Unlike no other genre, modern rock competes for its listeners just as much with classic bands from the past, as those that are in the present. Artists of the other popular genres of music are primarily measured against their peers. The same cannot be said for modern hard rock, and to a lesser degree metal as well.
Goodfella the competition with the old school is a good point. Any metal I hear today, I will consider if it’s worth rank against my beloved bay area thrash.
Goodfella the classics win out every time
Goodfella btw bro just get back to the same post Loudwire posted for this video ,the hate is still on and its not cool
Buried Alive - A7X
Sidewinder for Avenged Sevenfold please. Dear God, MIA, and Seize the Day are great too. All their stuff is good really.
Sidewinder is so underrated
Man the first time I saw the music video and saw the ending I was in tears 😭😭😭 R.I.P Rev

Erick Servantes dammit! Your profile picture had me trying to swipe the damn eye lash off my screen!
Erick Servantes also, i was at the pasadena show too.
Thought I had a damn hair on my screen. Damn it.
Erick Servantes the stage is so good
This is my karaoke jam! It's funny, everyone sees this skinny black chick up on stage and this starts, and then after, everyone is either being super nice or honest, but it's well loved when I do i! I'm glad you guys enjoyed this one.😊😊

R.I.P. Chris Cornell
TheConstant yesssss
TheConstant like a stone
isnt this the drummer Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater on this album?
he recorded the drums but Jimmy had already written the drum parts
Cameron Huffman yes it is
Jimmy wrote the drum parts, Portnoy just played them and ofcourse he did a bloody good job!
You guys would love “Unholy Confessions” by Avenged Sevenfold 🤟🏻
I love the singing in this band, love me some M. Shadows. You can always tell it is them, going from heavier sounds to more desperate lullaby in a way. It's beautiful ... and they are one of THE best bands live I have ever seen. M. Shadows hits every note and sounds amazing, as do the rest of the band.
They formed the band in '99
TESSERACT - Of Matter (Live at Sphere Studios). THIS piece is so sick! Gotta check it out!
I love how honest you guys are
I appreciate you guys truly!! I am a man who literally listens to everything from pop, hip-hop, r&b to rock, metal, screamo and even ballads!! Like everything and to see someone who JUST appreciate every music and breaks down the detail is amazing!!
Little piece of Heaven - Avenged sevenfold
Dream Theater - Constant Motion !
You guys should give another chance to the band through this song, which is more agressive and less complex than the first one you did.
Keep doing guys !
Mohand Kabeche I wouldn't say less aggressive but certainly less complex and showy. I actually get a very small thrash vibe from it
Instantly subbed to you guys after 3 vids never have i subbed to another reaction channel but this one pure gold u guys are like so crisp on detail and unbiased to the core thats whats up boys!
This band is great. They’re one of the best newer metal bands. I’m an old school guy but there are several metal bands that have made me a fan.
I got to say, y’alls breakdown of why some metal heads don’t like them is on point. To some it is to “pop” for them to call metal. I do think it came from the years of isolation from other music genres so now anything that remotely comes close to another genre it “scares” them that the genre that they came to love is going to change and go away.
I don't think so. I think it's too clean, too overproduced, not particularly unique and very simplified. I think if a lot of fans didn't talk of Synyster Gates like he was the best guitarist on the planet (which he isn't, far from it), or talk of Shadows like he has a godly voice (which, compared to guys like Rob Halford, Ronnie Dio and Bruce Dickinson, he doesn't even come close) then people really wouldn't mind.
Personally, I really enjoyed The Stage, because it was genuinely different (sax solos FTW), and I liked Bat Country, once again because it seemed like their own sound. Other than that, everytime I hear something from them it just seems like I've heard it before, and I've heard it done better quite frankly. It wouldn't be a problem if people didn't idolise them to the ridiculous extent that some seem to.
leerobbo92
U nailed it..
leerobbo92 I don't get people's problems with people who idolise certain people. If they're a fan and like them then that's fine. You can't hate someone because others look up to them if all they do is their job. Surely that's not a great logic to have if you let other people's views on someone affect your own?
Personally I find Synyster and Shadows to be right up there and their song writing lyrically is amazing, his way of story telling through a song is just something I like. But that's the things with opinions I guess.
You don't like them, you don't, you do, you do. But don't let how others perceive them affect your view on them if they want to overdo their praise for them. Meh to them. Just enjoy it for what it is. :)
Generally I don’t like a song that doesn’t have good production. A lot of older bands or less well known groups can usually get away with it and can more often than not be pleasing to hear while still having less than optimal production. But if you have good equipment and talent, you shouldn’t have to reduce yourself just to be different or ‘out there’. Make the most of your talent, and you can still be different.
Well, A7X got me into Metal, and I saw them live a few months ago and it was great. Now I’m starting to get into bands like Bullet for my Valentine, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, etc. But I still call A7X my favorite band even I don’t listen to them a lot anymore. Also, Synyster Gates was the main person who got me starting to play guitar.
I love A7X, I think the choices they made were great vs the earlier stuff they did. Extremely talented band and anyone who hates them is crazy. They are a one of a kind imo.
Mordecai Mike unfortunately the band died with the rev
Definitely not, The Stage is an incredible album, especially theme wise. Fucking great.
griffinjg1 Idk man Brooks Wackerman is a beast .maybe a better drummer than Jimmy
Mordecai Mike I hate them cuz there lyrics looks like a 5 year old wrote them. And the singers voice is so cringeworthy
Yup. Great band before changes and after changes.
I'm still waiting for more of your reactions on Avenged Sevenfold's songs. Especially "A Little Piece of Heaven" or "Beast and the Harlot". Great video, by the way!
One of the most underrated bands, musically, ever!! They're talent is undeniable. RIP Rev!!
I wouldn't say underrated lol, but yeah they're talented
Endless sacrifice by dream theater it’s a lot less confusing than metropolis part 1
Heavy Metal head I'd personally recommend The Glass Prison.
I wouldn't recommend either of those for them. I love Endless Sacrifice but I'm pretty sure the middle/long instrumental part would be too much for them. And The glass prison is nuts. It changes like 100 times. I think they would enjoy something shorter like As I Am or Pull Me Under.
Dream Theater - As I Am
Endless Sacrifice has some of the best, hardest riffs that Dream Theater has ever produced. It's a personal top 10 song of mine by them, but I'm not sure if it would be a good fit for these guys. Dream Theater is so hard to recommend because they have so many unique sounds. You could hear about 20 different DT songs and think they were 20 different bands. It's tough.
As I Am, Constant Motion or Panic Attack would be great!
Now do A Little Peice Of Heaven by Avengened Sevonfold. They got a whole choir and orchestra on that shit it's flames
The lyrics are also really thought provoking
20 years in 2019.
They started in 1999 i think, correct me if im wrong.
"this is hot, I don't care what anybody say" 😂
A Perfect Circle - Judith
Joseph Torres would like to see lullaby instead
I don’t know why so many metal heads don’t like A7X. I grew up listening to Maiden, Judas Priest, Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, and everything in between, and I still love this band. They can certainly be a little cheesy at times, but I think they own that. Their first 2 albums are what you’d call Hardcore Metal, or Metalcore. Their 3rd album (and their best IMO) ‘City Of Evil’ is more a mix of classic metal and new metal. Their 4th album before this one was more experimental. It definitely has som pop elements, but I think they do a great job of incorporating that into their music. They’re a solid band IMO. Great video guys.
I saw them in concert in February and they are AMAZING! One of the best live bands.
What can I say guys, superb channel. I must've watched over 100 of your vids and it's just like hanging out with friends and enjoying music. I love your reactions to the different genres of metal and as a metal listener of many, many years I must say I was amazed at how you approached these songs with such open minds and carefully dissected the lyrics, transitions, solos, riffs. I love how rapidly you seem to have exposed the 'metal elitist' mentality, I think your reactions and reviews really puncture the pomposity of those purists.
I think another commenter hit the nail on the head comparing the backlash against A7X to Metallica. Metallica got a ton of hate when they released the Black Album and got nationally popular. "Real" metal is supposed to be angsty, counter-culture, and for outcasts, and when a metal band becomes popular in the mainstream they must be "selling out" and aren't genuine metal anymore. It's total bullshit but that's the mentality that elitists take, god forbid something they like be popular and successful in the mainstream.
Its when a band changes their sound (like the Black Alum) and gets popular.
Going from And Justice For All to The Black Album is where OG Metallica fans were heartbroken as the Metallica they love was gone. Remember, they already were blowing up when the video for One came out. And the infamous Grammy nomination for One. Other than that very well said.
Well I think the point is that Metallica developed a large following after their sound changed, but many fans of their first few albums started hitting them with hate, similar to A7X. You can be successful and still be heavily hated by a vocal minority.
Kyle Pierce There fan base was already huge even before The Black Album came out. The OG fans were bouncing once their sound completely changed from what made them legends in the 1st place.
Exactly. Heaven forbid a band grow musically and explore different music styles in metal. Hardcore metal heads drive me bat shit.
The band formed in 99, blew up in 05 with the City of Evil album. The reason people hate on them is because metal purists are the biggest bunch of weirdos. If their favorite band catches even just a whiff of fame, they will turn on them and call them sellouts and pop artist. You really can't take a Metal purist seriously.
thats is not the reason, the reason is that they sell his band to a multinational to be a pop band in metal to do what was cool in that era, this band hit his prime in the time that be a emo dude was cool when all the kids whatn to be like jared letto for example, even this dude notice the pop like influence and repetitive things that this implicate
Very true with the exception of ghost, mastodon, gojira, lamb of god, killswitch engage, dream theater....and many more I could name
Metal purists just cannot handle bands growing musically. A band finds something new to write and its different and the blow up, like with City of Evil, and A7X becomes massive they hate it. Metal purists don't want bands to actually be successful, they want them to just stay put and not go any where.
agreed 100%.
I don’t think so necessarily. Metal purists just want absolutely no levity or break from heaviness in their music. Every metal purist’s favorite band is basically Lamb of God. That’s the most heavy band i can think of that is popular, i don’t know wtf people get out of music like that but there ya go
Unholy confessions- avenged sevenfold
My favorite by them
Great Song to react to & the video is awesome. My favorite band 😎
Hit the nail on the head with the backlash about three popish sound. When I first heard a7x I was instantly a fan am I'm old school metal but have progressed with the way metal has. Great honest reaction...if you like it, wtf does it matter with what the elitists say?
I think people have to go in with their mind made up to dislike the way this song sounds. Once again, gonna request the most emotional guitar solo of all time with "Comfortably Numb" Live at Pulse by Pink Floyd. I know you guys said that you rarely prefer the live version to the studio version, and normally I would agree. However, this happens to be a rare gem where the live version is actually the definitive version. It's night and day better than the studio version.
Evan West Great Suggestion. Gilmour is a god. I have the solo from comfortably numb tattooed as part of my sleeve. Truly a remarkable song.
Hell yeah, the pulse album in itself is fucking amazing.
Great choice!
I hope I don’t get the axe for this but I just want to say I appreciate what you guys do on so many levels. You aren’t just bringing music to the table for interpretation but also to me you’re bridging the gap between our races one vid at a time. I love your channel and what you do. Yep.
Just found you guys. Love it. You guys are awesome.
Avenged are one of my recent favs.
Bit of history ‘the rev’ died. The drummer had mike portnoy as one of his idols and the band got him in to record and tour for a while with them. Mike is insane. Amazing drummer. The rev was too.
Dream Theater - As I Am
Matt and Shley McNeal never give up lol
B Dubs i never will lol
Machine head - Locust
Killswitch Engage - My Curse !!!
Arjun Jain more like the locust or daughter's or uphill battle or lickgoldensky
Arjun Jain that's pretty cool. Check out Satan life sentence
I'm an old, old metal head. At 47 I have been there since the beginning and I like this band.
Yes, finally. Rattpack stopping by to show support huge fan of this song!!
They first came out in 1999 if I’m correct.
The Iceberg u are correct.
The Iceberg you are wrong. They formed in 1999 and their first album came out in 2001
jerooo159 While their first album came out in 2001 they recorded demos the year before and were performing as a band since 1999 so in fact you are wrong in the sense that they first performed together before 2001. Their first album doesn't constitute the beginning of the band nor does getting signed to a label so don't be pedantic when you are changing the question to involve the release of the first album.
jerooo159 wrong STST came out in 1999
don't forget the rev and synysters' side project PINKLY SMOOTH ;p
Mike Portnoy filled in on the drums for the Rev on this album. FYI ALL their music is amazing
These two dudes get it. ALL.
Every aspect. They know that it either sounds good to them. Or it doesnt. Plain and simple. No biases. Nothing.
I love these two's tastes and analysis.
~ DJ Devil Horns 🤘
"Gotta break these silos down" - heck yes! In this sort of vein, I've also always liked cross-genre covers, way back to Run-DMC doing "Walk this Way" when I was a kid. Johnny Cash crushing "Hurt," heck even stuff like Iron Horse doing bluegrass covers of Metallica and AC/DC.
Where are the suggestions for Sidewinder? It's arguably A7X's best song.
Cory Washburn this, sidewinder is easily my favorite. The flamenco guitar at the end seals it
Thank you. I almost said this in one of my suggestions. This is especially important if they want to hear A7X's more original sound.
Agree
Sidewinder is one of my favorite songs of _all time._
Johnny Christ on bass is huge in their guitar sound, I hate nobody gives him any credit.
If there’s an under under appreciated part of this band it’s Johnny Christ. Solid take.
Im an A7X fan since forever, and I definitely agree. His bass is critical to the bands sound and he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. I feel like that's almost all bassists though. Always underappreciated
Next Avenged Sevenfold song you should do is either Beast and the Harlot or Bat Country. Those 2 are my personal favorites by them.
A little piece of heaven with video man
